Project analysis and financing are vital steps in developing both private- and public-sector investment opportunities. The analysis is designed to assess the project's potential, the finance to develop the funding needed to achieve that potential. Despite their obvious interrelatedness, the two topics have been traditionally considered separately, and a full knowledge of one subject has been a prerequisite for learning the other. In this book, Gerald Pollio has undertaken to unite the two, providing theoretical and practical perspectives for the benefit of both practitioner and student.

By discussing project analysis and finance in tandem, Pollio eliminates the need for supplementary texts that explain the rudiments of each topic individually. First, he introduces the requisite principles such as capital budgeting, limited recourse debt, and risk management; he then applies them to in-depth discussion of strategies and case studies of natural resource projects, which remain major users of limited recourse debt. These include case studies of oil in the United States, fertilizer in Pakistan, liquid natural gas in the Middle East, as well as studies of mutually exclusive power investments, transportation, pipelines, and infrastructure project investments. In doing so, Pollio offers a text that is an ideal reference for economic analysts, finance specialists, people in lending institutions, and students of international business and finance.

Great book!.......2007-08-05

I picked up this book without much research/reading reviews, but was so happy I was lucky with this one. This book is very informative and is funny in tackling tough issues. I particularly enjoyed the parts of the book on making the most of maternity leave, which had useful advice for not feeling alienated or frustrated in the early days. Great for any smart, busy woman who is worried about her new life as a mom!

For women who work in white collar jobs, this is for you!.......2007-07-10

The audience this book is aimed at, to me, seems to be mothers that want to go back to work, but really don't have to. On the plus side, there are great guidelines for dealing with separation anxiety and breastfeeding in public. There is even a highly detailed chapter on how to hire a nanny and get green card clearance. To me, the book is only addressing white collar working women who, honestly, would not suffer much if they'd just stay home and put the same energy into raising their children instead of their tax bracket. So, in the end I give the book an "O.K." rating because of the slanted way it's written. In a way, it's offensive to me.

Straightforward Advice.......2007-05-13

Thought this book was a real help. The author uses great everyday examples when transitioning between topics and illustrating points. Appreciated that the author used a medical professional to aid her in delivering some information. I have read other books where advice was dispensed, and I know my doctor would not agree.

As a working mom, I was so relieved to find this book that addressed perfectly what I was feeling after my son was born. It really helps you to get through maternity leave. This is great for ANY new mom. But as a working mom, it was exactly what I needed.

A Must Read for Working Moms-to-Be.......2006-12-04

This is the best book I read during my pregnancy/new Mom period. I bought this book while I was 7 months pregnant and so tired of the preachy tone of most of the other pregnancy and baby books that I had read. Yes, this book has great advice on sleeping, feeding, etc, but even more impressively, this book (a) talks about issues that no other books talk about, like reconciling your old self image with your new "Mom" image and (b) tackles issues from deciding between breastfeeding and bottle feeding to deciding whether to return to work in a helpful way that doesn't have any particular agenda. The book is practical, funny, extremely readable, and one that I will recommend to all of my friends.

Ok... Perfect! The excersizes were chosen very wisely, it is apparent the author is an expert on the material. She is careful in her delivery, making it is easy to grasp her concepts. I bought it for my wife, and it was a fun and easy routine for her to get into - she loved it - what a great present it made!

Herrera's workouts are a great way to stay in shape while pregnant, and a great way to share the experience of pregnancy with your partner in a new way. My husband and I found this book after I had been feeling tired and unhealthy because I was no longer able to continue my usual, non-pregnant workout. We started using Herrera's book guidelines for excercising together and things have been going so well! We're both feeling healthier and more energetic -- as well as having another way to spend time together during this very exciting period in our lives -- it's our first! This book is a must have for all expectant couples.

This book is terrific! Great fitness information and a wonderful way to be pregnant as a couple. We made many of the excersizes in this book part of our regular routine and i absolutely reccommend it to anyone who is expecting! I hope another book is on the way--i'd love something new to add to the routine for my second child!

I don't understand why there aren't any more books like this one...I have realized the importance of staying fit throughout pregnancy (my wife is in her 3rd trimester as I write this) - We have had this book from the first month of her pregnancy to now and it serves as our guide to working out with "bread in the oven." My favorite exercise is the "table" one...you'll see when you get it - Herrera, the author, has put together a book that makes it easy for my wife and I to do the stuff our doctor tells us to - but have fun and explore different ways of doing it. If there were a "6 Star" option, this book would get it. Thank you for making this book. Sequel??

This book was really inspirational. It is a must read for any woman who is breastfeeding and working. Each story is 1-3 pages long so it is the perfect book to read with a baby. You just read it a story or two at a time. The stories are from all over the world and the women have come up with so many creative and wonderful ways to breastfeed and work. Some use pumps, some take their babies to work and some find nearby daycares, or babysitters who are willing to bring the baby to their workplace several times a day to feed. This book was amazing and I plan to buy it for all of my friends who are having babies in the future!

Didn't live up to my expectations.......2006-07-24

I was really looking forward to getting this book because many of my friends did not have to work while they were pregnant. This book does not deliver. There are some helpful sections but for the most part - it's mostly common sense or items you would find discussed in any general pregnancy book. I was truly disappointed in this book and would not recommend it.

Lots of misinformation.......2000-02-26

I was dismayed by all the misinformation in this book. Most of the breastfeeding information is about 10 years out of date. I have the 1987 edition and was surprised by how little they revised the book when they re-released it.

On top of that, the theme of the book seems to be that breastfeeding and working is hard, you probably won't be able to really do it so don't try very hard and don't feel guilty when you fail. I don't need to read a book to get that attitude; I can just talk to my relatives!
