Book Description
This book is an invitation to study managerial uses of accounting information and how accounting information is used in the management of an organization. Three themes run throughout the book. First, the accounting system is thought of as a library of financial statistics. Answers to a variety of questions are unlikely to be found in prefabricated format; but valuable information awaits those equipped to interrogate the library. Second, the information in the accounting library is not likely to be the only information at the manager's disposal. So knowing how to combine accounting and nonaccounting bits of information is an important, indeed indispensable managerial skill. Finally, the role of a professional manager is emphasized. The book also makes demands on the reader. It assumes the reader has had prior exposure to financial accounting, to economics, to statistics, and to the economics of uncertainty. A modest acquaintance with strategic, or equilibrium, modeling and linear programming and the ability to take a simple derivative is also presumed.

Slightly disappointed.......2001-10-20
This book was useful and somewhat helpful in providing additional information on reformatting my resume. However I probably would have chosen another book had I been able to compare. This book is 199 pages of which well less than half is actually narrated tips on creating a resume. The remainder of the book consists of resume and cover letter examples. In actuality this book should be considered a book of examples rather then instructional. In, addition, the examples are repetitive and often provide the same information over and over. Really in the approximately 75 pages of examples there are only about a dozen unique items to learn from. There are also pages dedicated to listing institutional references which seem to serve almost as a page filler.
The book does do a good job of diversifying its audience to a wide level of financial professionals however; in general, it seems somehow inadequate.
Accountants: Do You Have The Best Resume?.......2000-03-26
When looking through books of resumes, I often find that I have a hard time adapting them to myself. This is usually because the resumes don't apply to accounting/finance. For that reason alone I would recommend this book. There are resume examples for the entry-level employee as well as the veteran. There are even some examples of resumes for people interested in changing careers (for example, going from private accounting to a hospital administrator).
Also helpful, are tips on interviewing and the cover and thank you letters. The book also lists names and phone numbers of various corporations and professional associations.
All in all, I would recommend this book for anyone looking for a job in accounting/finance-no matter what your experience level.

Going the extra mile with your clients and relationships.......2005-11-07
One of my favorite books by Mitch is StorySelling for FA's. I like Your Clients for Life even more. Many advisors have many so many clients that the relationships seem a mile wide but only an inch deep. Mitch's book provides questions to strengthen those relationships that matter the most to the advisor. During the 1980's and 1990's, the focus was on gathering assets and lots of clients. The successful advisors of the future will have fewer clients with much stronger relationships, which will help them gain quality referrals. This books walks the advisor through each step they'll need. What a great guide!
Ultimately Disappointing.......2003-12-17
Mitch Anthony missed the mark with this book. It seems rushed. The book starts off very strong but ultimately disappoints. The biggest problem is that Mitch, who is an excellent speaker and communicator, doesn't tell us how to implement "life planning". Perhaps this is because this is a new field with few proven models. It is not the Definitive Guide to Becomming a Life Planner that the subtitle claims. Mitch, I know you can do better. Forget the deadlines and create a work from your heart. That is what life planning is really all about.
Get MItch's Book!.......2002-06-27
I was priviledged to get an advance copy of Mitch's book. What a great find! Everyone in the industry is always talking about "life planning" but few have given us a good picture of what it should be. Mitch does that. In today's volatile investing world, those advisers who stick strictly to managing assets will find more problems keeping clients and manging their expectations. Using the techniques offered in life planning, you have a good chance at keeping your clients for life. This book is a keeper.

Great title with no content.......2006-11-10
Book can impress anybody with a great title but there is no content inside. I was disappointed to see half written resumes and that too did not follow any resume writing conventions. It is absolute waste of money and does not deserve single star.
