Customer Reviews:
book purchase.......2007-05-24
Timely delivery and exactly as ordered. I would order from them again.
Useless.......2007-03-25
I consider this book to be useless for intermediate accounting students. It contains only several pages of terms and their definitions presented in the order used in the text. Intermediate accounting students should already be familiar with most of these terms or be able to more easily find them in the text or Study Guide. There are no working problems or even a hint of them in this book. Students would be much better off spending their money on the useful Study Guide and/or a Solutions Manual.
Only gives you definitions of terms........2007-03-19
I got this book to help me study the text better but this is only good for definitions. It doesn't explain any problems at all! The publisher's study guide is the best to use if you want explainations of problems.

Helpful.......2007-03-25
Although the instructions say to read the Study Guide after the text. I prefer to read it first. The summaries are a great introduction to the topic before class lectures and make the text more understandable - it's easier to comprehend the big picture of the chapter in the summaries than when reading 20 - 30 pages of text. True/False and multiple choice questions are also helpful. Explanations of False answers are given in the answer section.
Absolutely Essential!!!.......2007-03-15
The Survival Guide provides the reader with an approach for solving the exercises and problems in the Intermediate Accounting textbook. This guide will help you develop the ability to solve accounting problems. It offers the reader SUMMARY OF LEARNING OBJECTIVES, TIPS ON CHAPTER TOPICS, and addtional illustrations not in the textbook. As I said before, and it's worth say it again, the real value of this guide is it provides the reader with an approach to solving the problems. This in turn gives one an excellent feel for how to apply the material presented in the textbook. I find the ANALYSIS OF MULTIPLE-CHOICE TYPE QUESTIONS an excellent way to sharpen my knowledge of the material. When working through the questions I find myself constantly reviewing the textbook which is key to internalizing the material. In short, if you really want to learn this material get this guide. That way by test time you will be bringing your 'A' game.
Worth the money.......2007-02-09
This guide breaks down the chapter and gives you plenty of clear instruction. It also gives some exercises very useful in sharpening your knowledge.
get a wrong book, waste money.......2006-07-26
I order a wrong book, when I open it, I realized I wouldn't use it at all, but i don't know how to return it. so it just wasted my money even though it is a good book

"Why and How Accounting".......2001-01-18
Spiceland and Sepe's "Intermediate Accounting II" is written in familiar language. It is not a struggle to understand the concepts, because you don't need to deceifer the language. The book and related materials teach why methods are used to enable the student to learn how and when to use different methods of accounting. I rated it a 4 because I did not recieve the CD's that are supposed to come with it. By itself, the book should be a sufficient learning tool.

Study Guide, Volume 1, for use with Intermediate Accounting

Customer Reviews:
Excellent for self study.......2006-04-26
The book not only teaches you how to book accounts, but also why to do so, which I rarely found in other comparable accounting books. It helps you understand the logic behind the accounting rules. The author is both a good teacher and good reseacher. I love this book!
Wordy and heavy.......2003-05-28
I have been using this book for an Intermediate Accounting class that I have to take as a pre requisite for a Master's degree. Even though the book is quite complete in explaining accounting principles it is unecessarily wordy and extremely heavy.
The first five chapters (220 pages) provide a review of what accounting is, the accounting information system, the income statement and the balance sheet. Most of the what is written here is either too basic or will be later found in the remaining chapters of the book. These pages could be easily removed without sacrificing the remaining contents and the understanding of accounting.
Later chapters, however, are also wordy and take too much time explaining concepts that could readily be understood in a couple of lines. You end up getting tired of reading the same thing again and again.
In the end, we have to pay the price for so many pages. With 1300 + pages this book is the heaviest one I have ever carried around. Many people in my class have to use a wheeled backpack. I sometimes can't understand the fascination of editors in the US for such heavy books. If you go to Europe, Asia, and South America, books are usually thinner and much, much lighter.
I would recommend the book to be offered in a CD Rom (or e text) format. Carriyng my laptop around makes more sense than carrying the book.
Accounting can sound less confusing than explained here.......2002-08-08
This book for undergraduate accounting classes at the junior level was more confusing to me than the comparable book by Kieso et al. The sequence of the chapters is not entirely logical. More advanced concepts seem to be covered towards the beginning whereas some basic chapters are discussed towards the end of the book. It was especially confusing when not covering the chapter in chronological order - too bad that my class's syllabus was not outlined according to this book's chapter sequence. In a different class - when we used Intermediate Accounting by Kieso - jumping back and forth was not a big problem. This book by Spiceland also seemed to be very wordy. Studying by solving problems at the end of the book seemed to work. However, it is more important to know how your teacher designs the quizzes and exams and then study accordingly. On the CD that comes with it, there is a lot of ballast. The quizzes are the only valuable thing, I felt. There is not really a lot of use complaining about its weight - accounting books always seem to be extremely heavy and pricy. But this certainly holds true for this one as well!!! When I tried to resell the book at the university bookstore, they would not take it back because it was selling badly on a national scale. Very frustrating when you paid [$$$] just a couple of months earlier...
boring.......2002-05-30
This book put me to sleep. It is a very bland book. This is based on the volume one edition chapters 1-14.
Excellent Instruction.......2001-10-19
Straightforward and logical, the material in this text is so well laid out that it is truely possible to learn Intermediate Accounting on your own. An excellent sequential and progressive presentation of a difficult subject! My school has changed texts and is using Kieso's text, but I want to learn the material (all but impossible with Kieso) so this is the text I rely on!

GREAT BOOK.......2001-09-27
THIS BOOK REALLY HELPED ME WITH MY ACCOUNTING PROBLEM. THE INFORMATION WAS VERY INFORMATIVE. THOSE AUTHORS ARE GREAT. I AM INTERESTED IN PURCHASING CHAPTER 1-14
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
SANDRA ROLLE
A useful addition to the textbook........1999-10-16
Useful if you are having trouble with figuring out how the information given becomes the report shown in the textbook. Expands on the subject matter, gives useful hints and methods, and shows you how to do things the right way.

Intermediate Accounting, 10th Edition.......2005-09-24
This book is designed in a simple and understandable way. The author has included so many practical case studies in this book. Important topics and Accounting Terms have been presented so effectively and the whole presentation is excellent.
Not a good fanatic of it.......2003-08-10
The chapters are ok.I had to carry this book almost everyday to class!; its so big and heavy. And I also didn't like the examples and excersises of it because you can't barely understand them.
Intermediate Accounting by Kieso and Weygandt.......2003-07-19
This text was utilized by me in graduate school and in studying
for and passing the Uniform CPA Examination. The work has
a thorough coverage of theory and practice. It is geared for
accounting majors or more advanced business students.
Few texts provide the "bold-font" presentation of an accounting
term followed by the accompanying definition. The problem sets
are challenging. The text will help you to study for the CPA
examination because the presentation contains many problem
sets geared to prepare students for rigorous examinations.
The text is well worth the price .
USC Accounting School.......2003-01-06
I'm at the Leventhal school of accounting. This is the book we use in our intermediate accounting class. I found the Problem Solving survival guides that came with the book to be invaluable. This is an awesome accounting text.
There is no other like it.......2002-10-21
When it comes to Intermediate Accounting, this book provides a better framework than any other period. I used the 9th edition while in College, and have re-ordered the 10th edition for the CPA exam. Quite frankly, not even the great Becker Convisor is as good as this book. Maybe I find it better than others because this is what I had used while taking intermidiate accounting. I have looked at other textbooks, and they could not match Mr. Keiso's textbook in organization nor could they match it in ability to explain complex issues in an easy to understand manner. This book should be in any employee's office who must deal with accounting issues and needs guidance occasinaly. I must warn you, this edition is outdated as there have been many changes since the Sarbanes-Oxley act was passed by congress. So, you may want to wait until the 11th edition comes out, as that will master all of the changes that have occured in the industry since ENRON and WORLDCOM's collapse.
If you are someone who feels overwhelmed by the entire subject, this book will organize it into compartments and allow you to understand not only the entire framework, but the details as well.

Book Description
Debating the Global Financial Architecture opens up the contemporary debate surrounding the reform of the "global financial architecture." Economists and political scientists explore the economic and technical content of alternative global financial regimes as well as the political processes through which such changes are negotiated. The contributors, though diverse, jointly fear that rapid removal of the remaining controls on private international financial transactions risks systematic crisis. By initiating a cross-disciplinary discussion, they hope to see the politics of global financial design examined more honestly, yet without discarding or devaluing a solid economic analysis of global money and investment flows.
