Language is a bit simplistic, not the type you would expect in a business textbook.

This book contains a lot of valuable information on market strategy. The content of the book is very useful, but also very wordy and repetitive. That makes gleaning the book's "meat" a very frustrating task.

Fortunately, core concepts are listed in page margins to summarize main ideas. There are also diagrams illustrating these core concepts. These will help you to skip past the fluffy content.

I think this book shows real promise but is in serious need of copy editing.

Book was required for an 8 week course. The way the text is written there is too much repetition and information for the course - some chapters are over 50 pages long (10-15 of those pages are used as examples and repetitive information). May be better suited to the standard semester class.

    WITHOUT QUESTION this book is the best practical business text I have ever read. Thank you Robert for unequivocally adding value - in a meaningful and tangible way that can be taken to the market and capitalised on.     I rarely get excited about textbooks, but this particular treatment of strategy, balancing leading and lagging indicators with a view of past, present and future, was enlightening. This book should be a "must read" for any mid- or senior- level manager. It shows how to make your decisions more fact-based and less 'art'. With the coming of age of "management of knowledge" this is a great tool to use to improve business processes. Definitely worth every single penny spent - but especially if you are interested in learning tangible methods!

          The text is very heavy on the theory and provides a good background in the subject matter. Less pompous writing style could make it more readable. There are numerous spelling errors and instances of the words confused (tack instead of track, stricture instead of structure). Maybe upcoming editions will be better.

          This book is really disappointing. When the it was delivered at home, I thought the box was empty: the book is as thin as a magazine!
          The content is very theorical, completely useless for executives.

          This book paints a good landscape of the evolution of strategy management over time. Even though the book has only 6 chapters the material is somewhat dense. I found myself doing a lot of re-reading to understand the details. Its extremely comprehensive though if you have a strong background in strategy and/or are pursuing your MBA and its you last semester.
          If you're the average joe blow who's trying the understand the basics of strategy management I'm sure there are easier books out there you may want to read.

          The concepts are well illustrated with tables and charts. Though I find the case studies a bit outdated, the strategies discussed along with it provides a clear picture on how the industry is structured and different management style. The reading is excellent and not fill with nonsense like other textbooks.
