This is the study guide for people who are taking the auditing course or who practice the review course for CPA exam
The question is a little bit hard but the solution in the back of the book.

4 out of 5 stars Disadvantages of Self-Study.......2000-06-13

Wiley's books are useful, but not suitable for a complete review. I found them to contain more information than was necessary. They did, however, contain a multitude of old CPA Examination questions. This was useful, but I feel that these books need to be used in conjunction with a reputable CPA Review Course. Test taking skills are not discussed in depth, as well as the confidence instilled by a review course.

5 out of 5 stars Helped me pass the Finance section of the CPA exam!.......2002-01-17

I sat for the May 2001 Exam and purchased the Wiley Finance volume to study from in addition to my review course. What a great investment! Unfortuantely the course alone was not helpful enough and I didn't pass the other three sections but I did ace the Finance section--thanks to the Wiley book. It gave me a clear understanding of what needed to be studied for the exam and plenty of questions. I'm sitting for the other three parts next May and I'm buying the Audit, A&R, and Business Law books to help me study. I know I'll pass this time around.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent, focused and great help in passing CPA exam........1999-09-04

Book is very well organized (part of the detailed 4-book series from Pat Delaney, published by Wiley & Sons) and makes studying by topic easy to follow and understand. Each topic is followed by related questions, very similar to those on the actual CPA exam.

This book is more detailed than Delaney's 2 book set, and is specific to each of the 4 CPA exam sections. If you have passed some of the exam sections and need to redo one or two for whatever reason and have done ALL of the questions in the 2-book set and are looking for more detailed theory explanations, then this (or any of the other 3 in the 4-book series) book is the one to get.

Far exceeds the others (CPA Excel software, Conviser Duffy etc...) in ease of use, clarity of material and overall CPA preparation.

Overall, top marks.

    Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Very Complete. Good Book........2003-02-07

Thanks to Wiley's CPA review, I passed ARE 85, FARE 84 and Audit 79, first try. (Failed on Business Law 72 but that was more due to lackluster studying than to the quality of the study material!)

The books are very complete albeit somewhat slightly confusing at first. All aspects of the CPA program are covered, and, if you study these books thoroughly (material + multiple choice), you have a very good chance of passing the exam at the first try.

Make sure you understand the structure and the way each book is organized before you dig into it. I found the overall organization of the books to be confusing at first, and the content quality is definitely not constant from one book/one chapter to the other, which is why I would give a 4-star rating instead of a 5.

Also, I would highly recommend the Wiley's CPA Preparation Software. It speeds up your preparation greatly, and is a good way of avoiding the inevitable and endless page-flipping of book study.

    Good luck!

    5 out of 5 stars Time Management.......2002-10-27

It is very important to have time management will preparing for the CPA exam.
This 4 volumes set is much better than the other 2 volume set although they both contain the same material, this one has it in a more well organized way where the questions follow the outlines, some people might find it not that helpful but it really is.
In general the both sets are easy to use and handle, the advices are very much helpful, and the material is right to the point a thing that really saves your time.
As an advice you have to go through this set at least three times; the first time (2-3 hrs/day): Read then answer the questions try to do so within 3 months (prepare notecards and don't put any marks with the questions); the second time(2-3 hrs/day): Answer then read topics on your mistakes and review your notecards on othr subjects within 2 months; the third time (5-7 hrs/day): complete a whole module daily (order is not important but might be good) you have to pass all modules 90% at least. One last time is a 4-days approach where you go through a whole section every day.

3 out of 5 stars Anyone using this volume set pass the exam?.......2002-09-29

Did anyone using these books from "Wiley" pass the CPA test? If so, how good are they in preparing you for the exam? There are very few reviews here and its hard to tell if these books are any good.

3 out of 5 stars Excellent test questions, average module outlines........2002-08-14

I find the test questions and explainations after each module are authentic and very helpful in understanding the concepts. However the module outlines are not so well written. I wonder if other buyers have same feeling.

    5 out of 5 stars Tremendous Help.......2002-06-05

Used the Delaney books along with a review course. Superior additional material for what was not covered in the review. No surprises when I sat the CPA exam. Pasted first time.

5 out of 5 stars A necessity for any small business owner.......2006-12-16

`How to Hire, Train, & Keep the Best Employees' is an excellent resource for all small business owners. This book contains all of the vital information you will need to achieve higher employee productivity, better time management for employees and managers, and decreased turnover for your company. Podmoroff's book will also teach you how to effectively advertise for a position, screen potential employees, and motivate employees enough to make them want to stay with your company.

All of the information in this book is extremely helpful, but I was most impressed by the samples and templates provided in the book and on the CD-ROM. The book includes sample forms for applications, interview sheets, and orientation outlines to demonstrate the guidelines that Podmoroff explains. The CD-ROM takes things one step further by providing you with printable human resource templates for applications, follow-up letters, and performance analysis forms. Between the book that teaches you all you need to know and the CD-ROM that puts the theories into action, you will be well on your way to running a more productive, less stressful business.

On a side note, I was also very happy to see that some of the profits from this book are donated to The Humane Society of the United States. Even if I didn't think that this book is the best of its kind--which I do--I would rather invest my money in the author and publishing company who support a good cause.

5 out of 5 stars Hire and Keep the Best.......2006-05-24

Almost all small business owners struggle with one universal task: hiring and keeping quality employees. Author Dianna Podmoroff has finally written a guidebook that offers expert guidance for hiring top-notch employees, sound advice for keeping them, and tips on follow-up training. From the first chapter on Successful Recruiting Strategies to the last chapter on Employee Retention Essentials this guide flexes its muscle with valuable, and more importantly, useful information. The accompanying CD-ROM offers a convenient source of information that can be quickly accessed and printed; including templates for professional employee applications, samples of follow-up letters, interview analysis and performance reviews. Two of the best features in this handy reference tool are the Leadership and Team-Building and Motivation chapters. Many hiring guides tend to gloss over, or even omit, one of the most important aspects of successful hiring: keeping, training and developing quality employees that have a vested interest in overall company success. Podmoroff outlines wonderful ideas, which more companies should implement, such as job sharing, flexible schedules, shared leave banks and phased retirement. Overall, this book is a must-have reference book that will ultimately give you the edge over your competition.

5 out of 5 stars Best Book .......2006-05-12

This is quite possibly the best book I have ever read about employee relations. It starts off with how to find the right candidate. How to advertise when there are openings, how to conduct the interview and many more helpful topics.

The best part, however, is on how to retain the best employees. It talks about communication problems and how they can inadvertently cause conflict and problems within a business. The author then spends considerable time addressing ways to convey a bad message -such as you screwed up- in a productive way so that the employee doesn't feel bombarded with criticism and can begin working towards a solution. Chapter 3 is a great reference even for communication within personal relationships.

The author then goes on to discuss affective leadership and team building. All of these things will go a long way to create a great and productive crew. I especially liked the discussion on proper employee training. The author emphasizes finding the right person to fit into an organization and then training that person on what is expected of them. All too often I've seen people just dumped into positions without even a job description. No one can possibly work effectively that way.

The book also comes along with a great CD-ROM which has templates for employee applications, interview questions, a confidentiality agreement and more.

"How to Hire, Train, & Keep The Best Employees." This book teaches you to do that, and then some. I was introduced to behavioral interviewing techniques that I can't wait to put into practice. I am confident that these techniques, along with a structured recruiting process - will paint an accurate portrait of job candidates. The mention of real-life, bizarre interview responses left me in stitches. The book also offers tips for welcoming and training new employees. I found the sample orientation schedule extremely helpful. The section on keeping employees was most insightful as it dealt with communication. I learned how to "own" my comments to avoid sounding judgmental. The book also teaches you to transform person-oriented comments into the problem-oriented comments that bring about better results. I had no idea that some of the things I say could have such an adverse affect on others. I definitely plan on using these tips in my professional and personal life. This book seems to be geared toward the Human Resources professional. It even comes with a CD of 75 HR forms. I found it to be applicable to anyone in business.

5 out of 5 stars The Companion CD ROM is invaluable !!!.......2004-07-09

The book is great and the most updated on the subject - but the CD rom included with the book is superb and a very nice added bonus! It contains over 100 customized forms and check lists for your use in PDF format.
