Who Do You Think You Are Anyway?.......2000-03-01
I am a Manager in a Financial Institution in Salt Lake City. "Who Do You Think You Are Anyway?" has helped me understand my employees, my peers, but even more importantly myself! This book is an opportunity for you to begin to understand what makes others function. What motivates, upsets, excites, and drives them. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who is looking for ways to be able to communicate, and approach others more effectively.
This is the most complete book on temperaments out there........1999-08-28
I highly reccommend this rendition of the personalites. I have studied many of the books and methods of understanding the different temperaments over the years, including Meyers Briggs, Hippocrates studies and Florence Littaurs books,(Florence is very entertaining however.) But none give such a complete understanding as The Disc training as Dr. Rohm in this book. He presents it in an interesting and fun way, but also really helps you understand the differences as well as showing you ways of dealing with conflicts and to motivate others that are unlike yourself. I have enjoyed both of Dr. Rohms books immensely, but this by far takes the cake and has truly helped me communicate better with my Family and in my business life.

An Excellent Thematic Collection For Teaching.......2001-03-17
This is an excellent collection of stories dealing with the complexities of identity and identification. Although the book is marketed as young adult, every story in it is worthy of serious academic study. I have taught it every year for the past six years and am always amazed at how the collection itself is better than the sum of its parts. Each story raises and plays off issues that the others deal with. If you want to teach a thematic unit on the issue of friendship, enmity, or identity this is the only book you need. Alternatively, you could use this as a great introduction to a novel that deals with the same issues.
Note to amazon editers: post the table of contents for this book; it's its finest selling point.

This book is great!!! It was funny, easy to read. I had bought it a few years ago and I still read it over and over again. It is defiantly worth the money!!!!!!!
Fun tool to Know Thyself.......2002-10-14
This hip, teen-oriented book offers up twelve avenues to self-discovery, ranging from 20th Century+ psychology to ancient astrologies. Each technique is given an accessible and informative synopsis of its history and approach, and is followed by questions and info to get you started on using it to find out your true self. You can see which brain hemisphere you depend on the most, research your multiple intelligences, and find out whether you're an Introvert or Extrovert (and all the other categories that come out of that famous test). But along with the modern science, you get a hefty dose of ancient spiritual stuff too: Native American and Chinese astrology, as well as the familiar Western kind; palm-reading, chakras, and more. After going through this book with my 14-yr. old cousin, I felt that a lot of these techniques reinforced each other when I compared what they had to tell me about myself, which says something. And learning about chakras and enneagrams informs you not just about yourself, but about other cultures as well. Very fun, informative, and surprisingly deep. You could learn a lot about yourself-- what have you got to lose?
Great book to get to know more about yourself.......2001-10-10
This book is an awesome way to get to know more about yourself, and really get you thinking. It doesn't claim to be able to tell you exactly what makes you tick - and it doesn't. But it DOES get you thinking about who you are.
My daughter loves Tucker (and so do I!).......2001-05-31
Getting kids to read can be tough, but not when it comes to Tucker Shaw's books. My teenage daughter has all of his books (this is the fourth I believe). They keep her busy, inetested and an involved for hours. I'm always truly amazed at the things she learns about people, the world and most importantly, herself by reading his books! He writes with a level of understanding that most impresses me. We'd love to have him over for dinner sometime. Thanks Tucker!
Tucker's Best Book Yet!.......2001-05-23
Tucker Shaw's best yet. Totally interactive system for figuring out everything about yourself from horoscopes to psychological profiling to chinese astrology etc. Awesome for sleepovers or just hanging with your crew or family. Amazingly easy to understand. Shaw's ability to explain things is quick, clear, and simple. Teens--and adults--will wear this one out.

Customer Reviews:
Finally, someone tells the truth........1999-06-04
Finally, someone tells the truth about who you are and who you can be. There is so much absolute garbage on the market - a myriad of books that want to inform you, norm you, type you, hype you, refine you, define you, retrain you, restrain you, code you, reload you, and talk you into becoming something you can never be, all the while trashing your time and cashing your checks. This book is different. It teaches you that your motivational instincts are reliable and worth examining, and that most people have been ignoring their blaring message all their lives. The book helps you learn to listen the rhythm of your motivation as it daily rises and falls - that's all the data you need to find vocational satisfaction. I have read this book and lent it to three friends, all of whom followed its process and became "unstuck" in their search for personal and occupational fulfillment. You don't need to change your personality or develop completely new interests in order to succeed - don't be tempted by authors making questionable promises about what you can be. Read this book instead and let the truth about you set you free.
Book Description
Bestselling author Ian Stafford has run, boxed, putted, rowed, wrestled and kicked balls with the finest sportsmen in the world. Which is why he finds the doubt about his driving technique particularly galling. After one too many arguments with his wife in the car, Stafford sets out to prove that he really is up there amongst the finest drivers in the world. But after the glamour of Monaco, the freezing temperatures of Schumacher's home town, and the excitement of the first ever London Grand Prix, comes the more realistic view of life behind the wheel. Having seriously damaged his ego in a 4 x 4 in the States and crashing the car on a suburban school run, Stafford begins to wonder whether he hasn't bitten off more than he can chew by pledging to come face to face with Michael Schumacher. A brilliantly funny, sporting adventure around the world with a much-loved writer.
Customer Reviews:
Getting to grips with reality!.......2006-04-07
His wife openly challenges his driving abilities and tells him he's no Michael Schumacher.
Ha! Yeah, right.
No way and he'll prove it.
Ian Stafford sets out on a quest to find Michael Schumacher, go on a head-to-head, beat him and prove he is the better driver; or at least as good as.
In the process, he'll get to travel to such far flung places as New Zealand and Shanghai, he'll get to drive an F1 car, a WRC car, he'll get to race Markko Martin and JP Montoya, train with David Coulthard, fly with Niki Lauda, he'll get to interview countless personalities from the world of motor-sport and he'll record everything in this book.
Not to ruin it for you, I won't say what happens with Michael Schumacher in the end. I will say that the book is hugely enjoyable though.

Alan Mesher's new book, 'Just Who Do You Think You Are'...is one of the most indepth & insightful discoveries I have happened across in years! His thought-provoking context of life and helpful tools for shifting ones perceptions and choices is invaluable. I found his writing style a very easy read, and inspiritational in helping me address several issues in my life that have over the years been stumbling blocks in my relationship process. Many eye-opening revelations came to me without my having any expectations of the book being a conduit to directly apply to the context of my life, only to discover otherwise. Kudos to Mesher and his ability to make an impact and difference by sharing his proufound gift of writing and insightful knowlege...I will be forever grateful for the positive changes I have recently experienced as a direct result of applying the practices recommended in this outstanding book!
...Truly a 'must' read!

Just Who Do You Think You Are?.......2004-06-05
Alan Mesher's "Just Who Do You Think You Are?" offers one of the most insightful, illuminating and (most importantly) contemporary descriptions of the nature of personal evolution that I have ever read. Alan's description of the 3 Levels of the Ego and the 3 Zones of Transformation offer a profound yet simple way for each of us to see where we are on our path and understand the challenges directly in front of us while simultaneously presenting us with simple yet elegant tools and insights for liberating ourselves from the tyranny of our personal history. In other words, just reading Alan's book unleashes and accelerates "The Power of Personal Evolution".

Book Description
Do you know who you are?
Dr. Carlos Warter, the esteemed physician, psychotherapist, and healer whose charismatic lectures and workshops around the world have led untold thousands to rediscover their essential selves, now shares his prescription for achieving physical health and emotional joy.
Do you know why you get sick?
In today's society, it is all too easy to believe that we are our outer identities--that we are spouse or lover, child or parent, worker or artist, victim or addict. But now Dr. Warter, drawing on the age-old wisdom of the world's major religions, his own illuminating life experiences, and his consultations with the Dalai Lama and other great spiritual leaders, shows that in order to heal, to become whole, to become ourselves, we must go beyond the small, self-constructed circles of identity that we assume each day. For it is our very attachment to these false, limiting personalities that leads to chronic stress and disease...while keeping us from recognizing our greatest treasure: our sacred selves.
In
Who Do You Think You Are? Dr. Warter offers the tools--from Buddhist prayers to original meditations--that can help us reconnect with our authentic selves. And he presents the other profound precepts of his new model of healing. Discover:
why any transition--birth, illness, death, or, indeed, any kind of change--can be a springboard for personal and spiritual evolution
how combining the use of modern medicine and alternative therapies with the power of an open heart and divine love can bring us to a place of unconditional wellness
how living in the moment results in greater awareness, a reduction in stress, and the development of real self-esteem
Who Do You Think You Are? is an important new addition to the latest literature on the healing of the mind, body, and spirit--one that provides a major breakthrough in how we view the world, ourselves, and all humanity.

Carlos Warter has once again produced a book that is poorly written and covers topics in a sophmoric way that have been covered elsewhere in greater depth. Dr. Warter continues his brainless babble about new age topics that have long since become irrelevant to what people need or want. You would be much better off with Deepak or any of the people who have endorsed his book. The book and the author are both shams.

All About Early 21st Century Risk.......2006-06-23
This book is unique, as far as I know, as a very timely analysis on technical issues and their impact on risk management.
Chapter 1 looks at three power laws for scaling networks - Sarnoff, Metcalfe and Reed. Valuing assets is a precursor to any risk management activity. Chapter 2 looks at the differences between traditional risk and Internet-style risks. There is an important distinction in perils and anomalies. Perils are defined as bugs and vulnerabilities. Anomalies are defined as the problems that arise once a vulnerability is exercised. There is also a section on monoculture which compares computing monoculture to bollweevils and other physical world monoculture risks.
Chapter 3 describes high level strategies like redundancy and backups for dealing with risks. These are high level not detailed operational planning, but they are useful for directors to plan what actions manage what risks. Federation is mentioned as having a positive impact on higher assurance integration between service providers and consumers. Another theme is the positive and negative aspects of decentralization, Quarterman concludes it is largely a positive development, and a decade and half into the web, that looks like a safe assumption.
For a book with Sarbanes in its title, there is not a ton of information on compliance. This is not a big a problem for me, since I, like this book, view compliance as a subset of risk management. Chapters 4-8 look at the implications of risk in various business sizes and verticals.
Chapter 6 examines some physical world controls that work fine in the real world but are insufficient in the digital world such as 4 digit PINs for ATMs. This chapter also covers various types of insurance schemes such as Cat Bonds.
Chapter 7 compares Frederick Winslow Taylor (command and control) to John Boyd (smart nodes) and concludes - Taylor Wrong. Boyd Right. Speed and autonomy are more valuable in a networked world. It is often said the important stuff is not exciting, risk management may not be a thrill a minute for everyone, but this book shows why risk management is important to businesses.
Chapter 8 contains an history of technologies, but does not address SOA, Web Services, Web 2.0 et. al in the context of the 5th Wave. Chapter 9 deals with a recurring theme on differentiating between risk inside the perimeter and outside the perimeter and the disparate strategies available. Chapter 10 describes some key differences between SOX (looking for black list items) and Basel II (culture change). Boyd's OODA loop is revisited in the context of self-healing networks. There is a section on the modern military's reliance on the web, which reminded me of a story by Thomas Barnett about how soldiers in Iraq were going into chat rooms to teach other about counterinsurgency. The officers instructed them to stop because Al Qaeda would listen in, the soldier's response:"Al Qaeda already knows this. We are the ones with the knowledge gap." Now the training manuals are being updated.
My favorite part of the book is Cliff Forts versus Coordinated Mesas which detailes the ancient Anasazis Protect-Detect-Respond strategy.
Chapter 11 discerns between first party loss and third party loss. Chapter 12 contains a set of actionable items for companies wanting to improve their risk management.
Overall, a useful window into the current risks and risk management opportunities in the early 21st century.
