Super Book.......2007-06-07
Concise and effective book. Not a lot of fluff...John is a pragmatic businessman that get right to the point.
The REAL DEAL.......2007-05-13
This book inspired me to join OneCoach ~ John Assaraf's Business Mastery Program, which educates, guides and supports small business entrepreneurs to success. After 30 years as a holistic practitioner, I've found business education and community with tremendous caliber, integrity and vision. This is the real deal. It's great to make people consciously aware of the patterns and issues that limit, and even immobilize their lives, and then how do you effect change? This education offers truly effective information about HOW to dissolve dysfunctional patterns and habits ~ and create new neural patterns that result in authentic change. As they say at OneCoach, Change Your Brain, Grow Your Business! Inspiring, genuine and phenomenal ~
If you are serious about wealth, do the exercises!.......2005-09-10
A great read. This book separates those who just want to read about having wealth and those who are serious and are prepared to do something. I didn't do the exercises! Then I invested $1200 in John's Inner Circle program and got to do the exercises as just a part of the programme... NOW I am getting wonderful results!
John pins you down and helps you get serious, he knows how to get results and shows you.
Real info for real people.......2004-12-04
This book is phenomenal. It is less a book and more a guide that will help you to help yourself.
Good guide.......2004-09-14
The exercises are the most important thing in this book. You must do them to get anything out of it. This book is really similar to the tons of other sel-help books out there. But this will give you another angle to look at your goals and be successful. It's a very quick read. The book doesn't come with a magic pill to be successful, it just reinforces what you should be doing to be successful. I do like the exercises. They help one break down their past beliefs and replace them with new beliefs that will empower them. Good luck and Power to You!

Bridging the Gap with Kids and Divorce.......2006-05-16
Who doesn't know a child who hates the back and forth between his or her parents after a divorce? We're Having a Tuesday is the perfect book to share with kids of divorce--even better, do it when the separation starts--don't wait for the final. Kids learn the positive of each of their "homes"--the end result is that they aren't as pulled or as grumpy as they go from Mom to Dad to Mom to Dad to Mom. Divorce therapists, mediators, attorneys and anyone who works with the families of divorce should keep this book in their office. Highly recommended.
Excellent book for children of divorce.......2006-05-04
If you know children of divorce this book is a must have! This book deals with the emotions that children must sort through when they are moving between mom and dad. The author has a firm grasp on the subject and has handled it with sensitivity and humor.

Book Description
A playful but proper social introduction to the South and southerners. It's a tongue-in-cheek guidebook to navigating the ways and means of today's Southland. Illustrated.
Customer Reviews:
So-so........2003-12-28
I'm moving to the South so I thought I should learn a few things about the culture. I learned a few new things, but a lot of this book is just fluff - bland lists of things you don't need to know. Lists of football championships, who to mail-order hams from, etc. I did like the info dealing with Southern religions as I didn't know much about the difference between say Baptists and Holy Rollers.
Leaving out Texas.......2002-06-04
I would have given this book a much higher rating, but for my immediate umbrage after seeing that the author had decided to, essentially, leave my native state of Texas out of the modern-day South.
NOW, let me make it clear that certainly, Texas is, as the old saying goes, Texas....belonging completely to no region.
HOWEVER, to "fringe" in southern portions of states such as Ohio, Indiana, etc..and leave Texas not only out of the "genuine Southland" but the border area as well, leads me to conclude that the author has probably never been to the Lone Star State....or if so, confined the stay to spots such as Austin or the DFW metroplex with their yuppie lifestyles and concentration of yankee transplants.
I will confine my case here to East Texas (generally, meaning the part of the state east of Dallas)since it is easily the "most Southern" of the interstate regions. Not only Southern, but pretty much Deep South Southern....especially when one gets over toward the Marshall/Jefferson/Caddo Lake areas. Don't take my word for it, I have talked to too many tourists from Mississippi and Alabama whom I have encountered on my numerous trips out that way, that tell me the land and moodscapes are "just like backhome" Many were actually surprised to find it so...having had their whole image of Texas formed by the old westerns movies (which were, in reality, shot in Arizona and southern California). Even western parts of the state, having been settled by pioneers from the older South, is generally "Southern" in outlook and philosophy..even if not in topography.
So, Ms. Batson, next time you pen an otherwise purely good read about the South, give the inclusion of Texas a bit more consideration. After all, even if you don't accept my rest of my arguments, ANY state which fought for the Confederacy (not only fought, but was one of the charter members), is famous for "y'all", and where black-eyed peas and fried okra are staples, has made its mark and earned its star in the Southern constellation!
A humorous but accurate dash through the South.......1998-06-20
I read this book years ago in its first printing. I was turned onto the book by someone I knew who had read it and I was not displeased. Every other book on the South that I had read seemed to have this "you would never understand cause you're not from the south" attitude that seemed to suggest a certain perfection that I know is not actually there. This book however was not ashamed at projecting a more complete picture that was nontheless extremely funny. Being from the deep south myself I know that we have the Mardi Gras Balls and "Old Money", but we also have trailer parks and Arkansas, and Ms. Batson doesn't miss this. I had fun with this book, and after writing this review I think that I will take my old copy off the shelf and look through it again.

An excellent introduction to the marvels of body-wisdom........1999-10-01
It is no mistake that current research is affirming the role of the body in the establshment of individual consciousness. With unmatched sensitivity, master-teachers Porter and Winton-Henry have discovered a new way of "being" in the world. This book is foundational in an understanding of the philosophy which they both teach and live. I hardily recommend it to anyone seeking greater integration and wholeness in their lives. The text is clear, readable, and very entertaining. Numerous examples and exercises help the reader to understand the wonderous delights of this marvelous system.
Articulate, thought provoking, and enjoyable to read........1998-07-21
HAVING IT ALL provides insight into integrating the splits in our lives in an easy to read and enjoyable format. The author presents articulate and thought provoking ideas through philosophies, stories and reflections rooted in experience and practice. As the co- founder of "InterPlay" improvisation technique his writings reflect on the play aspect of movement and it's ability to create fullness in our lives. Ideal for anyone seeking new ideas and directions. A great resource for teachers, dancers, artists, ministers, leaders, and individuals in the helping professions.
A clear,concise outline/"How To" obtain&retain body wisdom.......1998-07-20
Phil, the author, outlines exactly what it takes to do, what he calls, "healing the split" between body, mind and spirit. I have followed these suggestions, and they really work, if you do them. For those of you who are looking for ways to improve and/or heal your connection with with yourself and others, this is truly a winning way to go. Don't take my word for it. Find out for yourself.
Book Description
Jenifer Estess is a woman on the verge: She's about to launch her own company; she's looking buff and dating vigorously; she's driving in the fast lane -- with the top down. At the age of thirty-five, Jenifer dreams of falling in love and starting a family. Then she notices muscle twitches in her legs. Walking down a city block feels exhausting. At first, doctors write off Jenifer's symptoms to stress, but she is quickly diagnosed with ALS, a fatal brain disease that is absolutely untreatable.
Max out your credit cards and see Paris, suggests one doctor. Instead of preparing to die, Jenifer gets busy. She dreams deeper, works harder, and loves endlessly. For Jenifer, being fatally ill is not about letting go. It's about holding on and reaching -- for family, friends, goals.
Jenifer's girlhood pact with her sisters Valerie and Meredith -- nothing will ever break us apart -- guides them as Jenifer faces down one of the most devastating illnesses known to humankind. That same enduring pact inspires the creation of Project A.L.S., a movement started by the sisters that changes the way science and medicine approach research for ALS and the related diseases Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, and which has already raised more than $18 million. Will Project A.L.S. help scientists discover medicine in time for her?
Jenifer answers these questions and others in this beautifully written and wholly inspiring memoir that celebrates a life fuelled by memory. Tales from the Bed forces us to reconsider society's notion of "having it all," and illustrates, more than anything, the importance of endurance, hope, and, most of all, love.
Customer Reviews:
A very moving memoir.......2007-08-30
This was another memoir I wasn't sure I would keep reading. I am glad that I gave this book a chance. It is a very moving, sad book. I think about it fairly often.
LOVED IT!!.......2007-08-18
I've never been moved to write a review before, but this is such a moving memoir. Jennifer's story inspired me in every way. Although I'm completely healthy, I could relate to the book. Life is hard but we all should feel lucky for what we have, for what Jennifer didn't get to have. I want to kiss my kids more than I ever did before, after reading this book. And Jennifer was a great storyteller and writer. I'd recommend this to anyone in need of a good read in front of the fire. That's the kind of book this is. Curl up and enjoy.
Meh. Very sad and somewhat moving, but not entirely memorable........2007-08-05
First off, I have to admire how Jenifer used her illness and influence to educate others and raise awareness and money for ALS.
That said, I have to agree with the others who said that this book seemed to be heavy on the early-childhood memories and name-dropping than it was about Jenifer's self-awareness and feelings throughout her illness. I would have liked to know how more about how she created and structured Project ALS--it seemed like she just picked up the phone and called a few of her celebrity friends to organize a fundraiser. It might have been more powerful and meaningful if she had gone into more detail about her feelings and thoughts as the disease progressed.
I'm glad I read this book. I certainly do appreciate the courage that Jenifer and her sisters had around ALS, but I agree with the other reviewers who could have done without the list of her many celebrity friends and childhood stories.
lifetime movie.......2007-07-14
I actually bought the book after seeing the lifetime movie. I have to say I would recommend the movie over the book. Maybe its because I saw the movie first, usually its the other way around. The book is kind of boring compared to the movie, I guess I just expected more from the book.
Bad -- Very Very Bad.......2007-05-13
Alright, I was reading 'Tales from the Bed' by Jenifer Estess as told to Valerie Estess (NONFICTION) This lady (Jenifer) has ALS and this is her trials and dribulations of her life esp. when she is hit with the ALS. BEFORE I START I realize that ALS is a very serious terminal condition okay ... I got that ... anyway, it may be because it was written by her sister and not her (the author passed away) but this reads like a 5th grader wrote it. I kept thinking that it had to get better, NOPE. At the beginning she brags about being the most popular girl growing up and that she came from money etc ... okay, I'm having a hard time already ... then she (as an adult) finds out she has ALS. Her sisters have to take care of her in every shape and form, which is great to have family like that. Then I got to the part where her dad had divorced their mother (years ago) and they realized they weren't going to have the funds to pay for college cause daddy had a new family ... are you still with me, I know it's hard ... so they go egg his house (remember, the author has full blown ALS) and the author is excited because she RAN up (she can't move on her own?) and she got 3 bulleyes in a row on the door???? Alright, now I'm confused ... I proceeded to read knowing it couldn't possibly get dumber, which means that I'm dumb for thinking that ... they then decide that they want to get the word out about ALS to try and find a cure. They want to light a fire under the Dr.'s so they'll start working harder (yes, I know, they're delusional) to find a cure for ALS and they decide to put on a little play -- A PLAY PEOPLE!!! That is where I stopped ... I couldn't take anymore ... tihis book is absolutely ridiculous -- ahhhhh I feel so much better, thanks for letting me rant. Next time I'll take note of who they are featuring as comments for the book -- this one was Sarah Jessica Parker, that should have been my first clue!

Moving book............2004-02-05
When I first heard about "Who moved My Cheese", I had to read it right away! the concepts were basic and realistic.
But now after reading "Having it all... and making it work" .. I was even more moved !
The authors ability to portray the fundamental concepts of time management is essential! Compared to previous books by Mills, I thought this one stood out the most. The simplicity in the style of writing really got me (the reader). I have read alot about the co-authors of the book aswell. Namely Sasha Mattu, in Norway my university has received a number of case studies published by her from Harvard Bussiness school. Her style of writing is higher then any author I have read, further it seems like her style is directly influced in the writings of "Having it all, and making it work"... Great work... looking foreward to more books by Sasha Mattu

Good for beginners.......2002-03-26
This book is exactly what the title implies - startup. It is a great starting guide for the beginner that has never seen or played with the software before. Unfortunately I was disappointed due to the fact that I wanted something more advanced. I saw the page count and assumed that this was it. If anyone writes a more advanced book with details about catalog creation and join definitions let me know!!!
Beginners book.......2001-01-11
This book is possibly useful for the total novice of reporting. Spending a lot of pages explaining how to install the application and making the most basic reports makes it unnecessarily long. A lot if screenshots makes the book even longer so you can wonder if the author was payed by the page. The price seems hard to justify.
Impromptu startup.......2000-12-07
This is very much a beginners book of the point and click variety. Its pages are filled with screen shots and tedious step by step instructions in the minutest detail. Now some people may like this style and I'm probably not in the target audience for this book, but for [the price] I expect something a little more comprehensive. When looking up some features I found unhelpful comments like "This is an advanced topic ... contact Cognos for an advanced training class." Sub-reports and frame layout reports have only very limited coverage.
This is fine if you want to create basic list reports, mess around with a few columns or layout features, but its of little use to a serious report developer.
The Best.......2000-07-18
What a great book for users of Impromptu! It is perfect for the regular user and you don't have to be a computer geek to understand it. The author's technical strength combined with his understanding of the Impromptu student make him an excellent teacher. Every business user of Impromput should have this book!
