Book Description
Wordoku is a cool combination of sudoku and wordplay—and it’s the hottest new craze among puzzle lovers. This massive collection, which follows on the success of the two earlier Big Books, will provide solvers with hours of fun. It features an amazing 900 wordoku, with grids in a variety of sizes: smaller 8x8s, standard 9x9s, and extra-hard 10x10s. The rules are simple, and almost exactly like sudoku—except with letters in place of numbers. Because the levels range from easy to brainbusting, everyone will find puzzles that are just challenging enough. Plus, when players are finished filling in the grid, they get to uncover a hidden word to complete the puzzle!
Customer Reviews:
Great fun but the book itself..........2007-03-20
This book has 8, 9 and 10-letter grids, which means there's something for every expertise level. My favorite is the 10-letter puzzles.
The only drawback is that because of the size of the book, it eventually falls apart. The pages in the middle came out. I now carry stacks of pages rather than the entire book. The publisher should definitely consider making this a spiral bound book.
Endless hours of fun and frustration........2007-01-09
If you like sudoku but tired of the numbers I strongly suggest getting this book. It's the same fun as sudoku but with the added twist of finding words within the puzzle. Go ahead and try it. You won't be disappointed.
Book Description
Fascinating word-lover's treasury brings together over 1,100 different anagrams and nearly as many palindromes, plus a host of related phenomena — charades, circular reversals, vocabulary called poetry, etc., plus much high-level commentary and observation.
Customer Reviews:
The Best Book of Its Kind I Know.......2002-01-10
This short, inexpensive book contains the best collection of anagrams and palindromes I have ever seen. My copy is dog-eared from repeated use. The book contains an enormous amount of top-notch palindromes that are far from over-familiar. Some samples:
* A new order began; a more Roman age bred Rowena.
* A dog, a pant, a panic in a Patna pagoda.
Those samples may strike you as silly and meaninglesss, in which you are not a palindrome person, and this book is not for you. Or they may make you want to see more, in which case you should definitely buy this book. The palindromes by J.A. Lindon, which make up the book's grand finale chapter, are amazing tours de force.
Trust me -- this book has the goods. If you are a wordplay enthusiast, you'll love it. If you know one (perhaps a co-worker), it could make a great inexpensive gift. Strongly recommended!
A must for wordplay enthusiasts........2000-04-05
Howard W. Bergerson, former editor of Word Ways: The Journal of Recreational Linguistics, presents more than a thousand anagrams and hundreds of palindromes (with sources, where known).
This volume (an inspiration for many books including Michaelsen's "Words at Play" and Jon Agee's collections) is a must for wordplay enthusiasts, especially those with a penchant for these particular curiosities.
You will get your money's worth on this one.

Book Description
Anagram loops, mixagrams, pentads, and phrase forays: if you love wordplay, these intriguing puzzles are better than crosswords! They don't have those awful, never-before-heard words meant just to trip you up. And 7 out of these 10 puzzles have no clues at all! You complete them by doing anagrams or by using the three or four letters provided to get you started. Begin with the simplest and make your way up the ladder to the hardest and trickiest. Split decisions have letter pairs in a grid, surrounded by empty squares. Each answer consists of a pair of words that share the letters that should be entered in those squares. For example: Go two by two to complete miniature crisscross puzzles: the vowels are there, but you have to add the correct consonants. Mixagrams have a five- and a four-letter word on each line; their letters have been mixed together, but their order is unchanged--just like this: D A R I U N V E T = DRIVE + AUNT It's hours and hours of braintwisting! 96 pages, 63 b/w illus., 5 3/8 x 8 1/4.

A must for those who enjoy word games!.......1998-10-04
This book is just great! I would have sent an e-mail to the author had one been in the book. I'm buying several for Christmas gifts - my friends are also crazy about Split-Decsions. We had been hoping a book like this would come out and when I found this, I was overjoyed.
Glad to have this opportunity to let the author know how much we all like Split-Decisions. It's just great for those of us 'word game lovers'. I don't want to forget the other word games in this book, they're also good (haven't finished them yet - still working on them) but I can't wait for the next book to come out.

Book Description
After his bestselling Word Search Puzzles for Kids, Awesome Word Search Puzzles for Kids, and Clever Word Search Puzzles for Kids, Mark Danna's out to baffle youngsters again--and they'll enjoy every second of it. These puzzles are wildly imaginative and ingeniously designed. Instead of the usual grid, each one consists of a picture that fits the puzzle's subject, including an elephant and a dinosaur. There are other twists too. Three puzzles don't have a word list, so children have to create one from the clues. "Rappin' Up the Week" asks solvers to fill in the rhymes of a humorous rap song. Rebus puzzles feature little drawings. To top it off, every puzzle contains a hidden message that kids will uncover once they've completed the search.
Book Description
Since our First Word Search puzzle books debuted two years ago, this wildly successful series has sold over 60,000 copies. Clearly, parents who want to help their children get a head-start in reading are snapping these up—and youngsters are enjoying the learning experience. This new addition continues the phonics fun as it presents puzzles that teach basic sounds (“bake’” for the long A) and letter combinations (“oo” as in book). Charming line drawings by Steve Harpster—the illustrator of Sterling’s new Kids Draw series—add to the puzzles’ appeal.

Book Description
Simple substitutions--that's all you have to do to come up with a solution! Just figure out which letter stands for another and you'll be able to read fantastic quotations from famous people. Don't worry, you'll get hints on how to begin and narrow down the choices. Remember that a one-letter word is always A or I, and that in a two-letter word, one must be a vowel. Apostrophes can also eliminate lots of possibilities. Some words--like AND--occur over and over, so look out for them. Keep an eye out for -ed, -ing, and -tion endings, too. In every cryptogram the code is consistent, but it does change from puzzle to puzzle. So, now you know how to go.give this a shot!

Lots of Fun.......2005-12-30
If you love cryptograms you'll love this book! Each cryptogram was a quote by a famous person. The letter spacing was perfect making it easy to read and solve. Each puzzle provides one clue. If you're diligent you shouldn't need the clues. Only one draw back, the author should not have put the clue pages next to the answer pages. Every once in a while I'd go to the answer instead of the clue. This was a bit frustrating.
Book Description
Grab a pencil, get started, and soon you'll be exercising your brain (and, with a little luck, a few other muscles, too). While you're waiting for nature to take its course, try some clueless crosswords, where you fill in the blanks to form eight seven-letter words. Or, do double exposures, where you first figure out the six-letter words that read from top to bottom in the columns; that reveals only half the letters, so then you'll have to take one from the top squares of each column and transfer it to the blank above to reveal a phrase. Also fill-in stations, split decisions, two-by-twos, and lots more like this one:

mind-twisting puzzles, as usual from George Bredehorn!.......2002-05-22
If you can get past the tasteless packaging of this little book, you'll find it chock full of the same terrific, challenging puzzles we've come to expect from Mr. Bredehorn - not just Split Decisions, but all the other mind-benders, albeit in smaller size. I don't spend enough time in the smallest room of my house to finish one of these puzzles THERE, and it IS a bit embarrassing to leave this book out on the kitchen table, where I USUALLY practise mental exercise - but nobody's coming over today, so what the heck!?!

Book Description
If you've ever used traditional screen recording software to create product demonstrations or created custom simulations on your own, you know what an enormous task it can become. Not so with Macromedia's recently renamed and enhanced software, Macromedia Captivate (formerly RoboDemo). By capturing your actions as you use a program, Captivate eliminates the need to create custom graphics for each step--which in turns means no massive video files at the end of the project. Macromedia Captivate automatically records all onscreen actions and instantly creates an interactive Flash simulation. Point and click to add text captions, narration, and e-learning interactions without any programming knowledge. Veteran author Tom Green understands that this is big news for anyone creating online training, product demos, e-learning applications or user support systems--which is why in these pages he provides a super-quick start for a super-quick tool! After introducing you to the Captivate work environment, Tom uses simple task-based instructions and loads of visual aids to help you progress through chapters on creating and modifying Captivate simulations; using frames; adding objects, captions, audio, interactivity, and rich media; using PowerPoint with Captivate; integrating Captivate with Macromedia Breeze; Captivate and Flash; and more.

Frustrating ommissions.......2007-07-10
I've used several other QuickStart Guide titles in the past, so I trusted this one without seeing it in person. I was very frustrated in trying to use it as a reference, since MANY times it didn't include the pieces of info I needed. Instead of explaining what many options mean (like in the publishing dialog for example), it just lists them - just like the software does. I got the sense that the author didn't know what some things were or was rushing to get this done and wasn't as thorough as I'd expect. While it's a good basic overview of a lot of things, it's not great for looking up specifics.
Good for quick learning.......2007-05-07
I had never worked with this program before and this book was a good reference to jumpstart into Captivate.
Not as useful as I thought it would be.......2006-11-03
This didn't cover the topics I wanted it to, but it may still work for you if you are learning to use Captivate. It is definitely easy to read and use, if that is your priority, but it didn't tell me much I didn't already know. I purchased this because I was running into some brick walls while using Captivate and the book was touted as containing some tricks and tips. Honestly, I think the software itself is restrictive, and it isn't the author's fault that they couldn't remedy Captivate's shortcomings.
Received the books on time in good condition.......2006-08-25
The books reached me in excellent condition and on time.
I ordered for the books to be delivered to my daughter's address in Portland, Oregon and she sent it by post-parcel to me to India. It will be very helpful if Alazon explored shipping to India directly.
Thank you,
Hema Sarathy
The low down on Captivate for Windows.......2006-02-08
I have been experimenting with Captivate for 3 months (not continuously) to create training programs for our software products. Lets face it, Captivate it isn't all that complicated. If you are competent enough to put together a Power Point presentation then you are competent enough to use Captivate. It is really a fantastic program to create demonstrations or training programs. The problem that I ran into, like many Macromedia programs, is that there are usually little tricks and features that are hidden in the program. This book really outlines not only the basics of Captivate but digs down a little more and explains these hidden features. I looked at several books for this program and some were just too basic, in fact most were just Crayola basic. If you are looking for a book to show you the all the different features of Captivate including creating and editing movies, exporting, creating basic or in-depth presentations then this is completely the book for you. Heck, the book even gets into exporting presentations to work on a PDA....what else do you need? Enjoy!
