Resident Evil Player's Guide.......2006-07-17
It's hard not to find a satisfactory player's guide, and this is no exception. I buy player's guides for two reasons, and those would be for: 1. collecting 2. Help, because I'm stuck and don't know what to do. This just so happens to be one of those where I needed help to complete the game. I have no problems with this product and would recommend it.

I began the game sans the guide and decided it was to my best interest to start over after reviewing the hints. It probably would have taken me until NEXT Christmas to finish instead of the 3 months.

Why would you shell out a dozen big ones to get a walkthrough while you can get two dozen walkthroughs for free plus lots of detailed guides for free on Gamefaqs.com? Two reasons: 1. This guide is much better written and edited than the poor-English ones you find on Gamefaqs, 2. this guide includes maps and other goodies. If you are a true RE4 fan this is an indispensable companion to getting the most -- like 100% -- out of your RE4 game. If you just want to play RE4 once through, then one of the free walkthroughs from Gamefaqs should suffice.
too many spoilers; not enough "walkthrough".......2005-08-25
I've relied on really good Guides by Birlew, and this one is good-but in this case it seems like he took the day off; thinking perhaps the 'wow' of the game would forgive. He is usually careful not to spoil any scares or plot points and walk you through tough battles. In this one he would say something more like " Around the next corner a zombie waits to surprise ambush you, you can escape his attack like so....then you will be attacked by a series of 3 waves of zombies totaling 14, but don't enter the tower or the house across the street or there will be 18, one with a chainsaw-fight them your own way." He could/should have offered alot more strategy without giving away so many of the games key 'jump out of your seat' moments. I'm a little diappointed. Otherwise, it's up to snuff if you want a good walkthrough. If you're just stuck on one thing and don't plan on replaying the game or finding eveything-look online.

Not terrifying and not a prequel.......2004-07-17
I purchased this book thinking it might be a decent book since I enjoyed the games and the Movie. However, this book isn't really a prequel as advertised. It barely starts ahead of the movie. The first 6 chapters are just build up to the movie beginning. Starting at chapter 7 the author goes basically scene by scene of the movie adding his own words (what he probably thinks they are thinking)to the thoughts of characters which could be based off the situation happening. Overall it wasn't terrifying at all and it wouldn't be considered a prequel since it didn't take place prior to the original movie events. THUMBS DOWN on this one!!!
Decent but...........2004-06-02
The strategy guide is decent but it seems to lack a few things I would like to see. I would've like to see a listing of the enemies and what their names are. I still don't know what one of the creatures is called in RE3. This book really isn't neccessary for RE2, since that was a fairly straightforward game, but RE3 is a mess to get through, especially with the quick decisions that need to be made. This guide provides clear descriptions of how to get through areas, as well as providing screenshots. It even tries to account for much of the randomness in RE3, usually by saying "Depending on ... Nemesis may or may not be chasing you here". Its about as good of a guide as you can expect when the guides are combined.

I'm gonna say that this isn't a bad strategy guide, though it is far from the best I've seen.I've looked through it and it covers the maps, levels, and enmies fairly well. And it looks like it would do the job. The problem is that the actual game isn't much fun, mostly because of its gameplay. The guide isn't organized all that greatly, but it will do the job if you are stuck somewhere (yeah, it doesn't give away too many secrets).

I was a very hardcore Prima guide buyer. I practically had Prima strategy guides for every one of my games. Then the worse happened. I couldn't find a Prima guide for Resident Evil 2 for N64. So finally, on Amazon, I found a guide. It wasn't Prima, but what the heck, I needed a guide and I needed it fast!! I ordered this and when it came...I was amazed to say the least!! I thought it was way better than most Prima guides I've read and had a lot of pictures and all Leon and Claire A and B walkthroughs all in their own section! It also has tons and tons of pics, info on the story, enemies, characters, items,weapons and secrets (like special weapons and costumes)! The walkthroughs are great and very descriptive, too!! It doesn't even ruin the ending becuase it doesn't tell what happens. It tells how to defeat the boss and then stops! I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to give other guides a chance...This one'll change your mind about who you buy from. It changed mine!!

When I first bought resident evil 2, I thought that the game was going to be to hard and that I would need a guide book to tell me everything. I couldn't have been more wrong. I beat the game 4 times before I finally got the guide book and when I did get the guide, it was useless. It tells you all the basic things that a guide book should tell you, the characters (just Leon and Clare, but not the other characters that you will meet during your journey) weapons, enemies, and the walkthroughs. That's it. It dosen't tell you where to get the weapons and it dosen't give you enough information on the a and b walkthroughs, it dosen't even have pictures for the a and b walkthroughs (except one or two!). Don't get me wrong, this guide book wasn't that bad. I just think that the publisher could have done a lot more. One more thing, it gives away the ending completely.

It is a great book to read and has alot of helpful information included in the book. If you are at a tough spot in the game chances are this book could really help you out.

This or anygame now a days is really hard to beat. If you buy a book like this strickly for the perpose of walking through the game, the you've wasted money on the game. I thoroughly enjoyed this book after meeting Mark Gerzon and deciding that if he wrote a book it was worth reading. I was not disappointed. He covers subject matter that has been written about before with a fresh perspective, having practiced the art of leading through conflict with our national leaders, along with many international leaders who have made the world a better place for the rest of us. Conflict, as Mark says is inevitable, whether the hot or cold variety. You my as well learn how to constructively work through it.

Mark Gerzon's Leading Through Conflict is a primer for leaders interested in developing eight clearly-defined competencies that are required for effective leadership in any situation.
