For Crash Bandicoot 2, this was an awesome guide. It tells you just about where everything is, how many boxes are in a level, and how to get all the crystals and gems. Though they don't tell you all the secrets, (because there are hardly any) it will help get through the game. However, there are no maps to help you pin point things. Needless to say that this is not a problem. Screenshots are placed in some wrong areas, and they don't help you too well with bosses, but the guide will tell you how to defeat them. Very well done guide.

Sorry, I have to dissagree..........2004-06-13
I have to dissagree with all of the people who wrote negative things about this book. Though not everything is put in full detail, it has strategy. I read through the WHOLE book, front to back cover, and it has strategy. It will help you through the game. It lists every monster that you will face and how to beat the bonus levels, death routes, and gem paths. Also, the book includes an interview with Crash Bandicoot --just play along-- and the history of Crash in a story. I'm sorry if it didn't help those people, but it helped me, and I want to say that I thought it was a well written and basically good book. Keep in mind that sometimes you will have to use some brainwork.
Worse than no help - Much of the info is WRONG!.......2004-03-05
Not only is this guide oddly unhelpful (telling the reader to "be careful" and "take it slow" at the difficult or confusing parts, but giving no directions at all on how to get through them), but much of the information it gives is just plain WRONG! It lists incorrect locations for several of the hidden gems, frequently gets the directions for the controls backward (telling you to "stay left" where you need to stay to the right, for instance), and simply gives the wrong advice on how to earn rewards (telling you to jump the gap to the red gem, for instance - which will only cause you to die - when in fact you need to shoot it with the bazooka). The run-throughs of several of the levels even put events in the wrong order or leave parts of the levels out entirely so that it is impossible to follow the guide. You will do your game more harm than good if you waste your money on this guide.

I give this guide LESS than one star! I own several official strategy guides, many for the Crash Bandicoot games. This is NOT a strategy guide! I have made enough progress in this game and know the tough spots. After scanning this "strategy guide" I just recieved in the mail, I feel as if I have been ripped off! I did not need to spend my hard earned money on a strategy guide that tells me to simply 'take my time' in those tough spots. Shane Mooney owes anyone that purchased this book a full refund and an apology! To say that this one is of no help to the semi casual player is an understatement!
It's a strategy book........2003-05-18
What can I say, it's your typical strategy book but this time it's for the Wrath of Cortex. It is helpful, as most books are though my daughter has been able to figure out the game more without the book. If you feel you or your child (or child's friend, etc.), need just a little extra boost to try and help you with the game then it is a definate must. And if you happen to sell the game you have an added bonus to go along with it (the strategy book) to whomever you sell it to.

Other than a brief history lesson on the life and times of Crash Bandicoot and some nice artwork there's not much strategy in this book. I agree with the others wholeheartedly, this book is a waste of money unless you just collect strategy guides. It seems to always tell you which levels are hard but does nothing in the way of showing you any help. BradyGames books are usually better than this, I guess this one slipped under the radar. Use the FAQS on the net, they are free and offer WAY more help.

My sister was the one who got the game in 1998, but then she beat it 100% and gave it to me (But took her memory card.). I completely love this game, and had problems on some of the Bonus Rounds and finding Colored Gems. But, this guide contains everything you need to know. Soon enough, with the help of this guide, I got 105%! That's right, after you get everything you can there's extra levels that boost your percentage upwards. But, this review's not about the game, so let's talk about the guide.

The book should've been entitled "Crash Bandicoot's N-Tranced to yhe Lin-Zy Bonsai". Look! I haven't read this yet...so I decided to buy and read it instead (if I have enough money). The title I'd written has enough goodness than the usual. It has: New Crates, New Characters, New Levels, even a New Foe. The foe's name's Tania...if you ever heard it. She's a masteress of clones and'll take on anyone. Good Luck...and watch out for her...she'll get ya! The heroines/sisters that's challenged are Tifani and Vivani. They'll be your help to find the Tanians (lil' Tanias) to recreate the Earth. This is easy to read... I/ya hope.

This book was very helpful for me because it had actual exercises for me to evaluate and complete and the answers were on the opposite page. Because of the ring binder, it was easy to complete the exercise without being tempted to look over to the next page. But once I was done, opening the book with the pages both in view aided me with understanding when I was incorrect and why.

Major Critical Mistakes in book.......2007-06-09
This book has major critical errors in it. It says maximum file length is 256 characters (it's 255), says that RegEdt32 is used on windows XP to edit the registry, it is in reality regedit. These are questions on the actual A+, and you will get them wrong reading this book. This is also the case for other books by Charles J Brooks, and his practice test cd on Exam Cram 2 (1000 questions, at least several with wrong answers). If it were not for these errors, he is an excellent author. However, you can not trust what he writes, as it may lead to a failed A+ Test. :(

This book is well organized, easy to read, and helpful in every way. Has extra details, information, and example scenarios to give you a "feel" of what you are working with. Comes with a CD that contains very helpful videos that further educate the reader about computer hardware and about being a computer technician.
I found the OS portion of the A+ exam to be more challenging, and so I wished that the CD contained videos on OS troubleshooting as well. Nevertheless, I still give this book a five star

Excellent source for exam study........2005-02-08
I purchased this book to use for a+ exam prep (2003 objectives) after conducting a lot of research on Amazon.
My background: 8+ years of application development, technical troubleshooting, production support and PC/server maintenance experience.
My story: I am working on filling out my resume with more hardware and networking training. Before my a+ studying I was very weak at hardware related topics but somewhat proficient in Microsoft Windows OS topics. Now I am stronger in both areas.
I used two books for a+ test preparation.
A+ Training Guide, Fifth Edition by Charles J. Brooks (this book)
A+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide by Michael Meyers, Scott Jernigan (please see this book on Amazon for my review)
I really liked this A+ Training Guide because it was very detailed and it presented most of the material in concise tabular format. This made it easier for me to compare and study various items side-by-side. It included VERY helpful and clearly documented exam tips in each chapter, comprehensive study questions for each chapter and numerous tables of related data were provided for comparison. I found the two preplogic exams, which were also included in this book, to be very valuable preparation as well.
I read this entire book one/two chapter(s) at a time over a period of time. As I covered each chapter, I worked through the practice questions at the end of each chapter making sure to understand the details surrounding the ones which I missed. Once finished with this I took both preplogic exams in the back of this book. I was careful to study the items and explanations which I missed on the practice tests. I then went back through each chapter, studied the Exam Tips items more comprehensively, and took detailed notes relating to each exam tip item.
This was my favorite book to use for studying because of the direct, concise, tabular layout and format. This is purely a personal preference thing; however, I believe that both books helped my exam preparation and ability to learn the actual topics in different ways. Both books contained numerous practice questions, for study and for the exams, and the more questions you can use to learn the material the better off you will be in preparation for the actual tests.
