Excellent.......2003-08-11
This book is an absolute MUST for any Mind's Eye theatre Storyteller.
It has excellent information on spirits that you cannot find elsewhere. Also, if you ever wish to bring werewolves into your chronicle, it has all the information you need.
This book is organized better than most of the Mind's Eye Theatre books.
All in all, I highly recommend this book to Storytellers of any WW genre.
Anyone oever hear of EDITING.......2001-08-15
First, I would like to point out I love the game, both Live Action and Paper. Now on to the Review, let's start with the good parts: - Balanced Play: The revised edition approaches LARP with a much more balanced perspective than previously available. - Documentation: The book provides considerable opportunity to truly understand the Garou perspective. - Cohesion: By using the mechanics standards presented in Laws of the Night Revised, the rulese systems are finally equal. And on to the bad points: - Editing: Possibly the most poorly edited game manual I have ever read. The placement of materials is good, but the errors are glaring. For instance, Background:Rituals says that you can buy one level of ritual per point spent. In LARP, rituals aren't leveled like theis, they are Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and not numbered.
Ever hear of EDITING?.......2001-08-12
We're now on our third incarnation of Werewolf rules for the Mind's Eye Theatre. For the third time, White Wolf has failed to even perform cursory review of their work. This is not a critical issue, but the errors have been carried over through all three incarnations! For instance, in the "Backgrounds" - "Rites", the work states that for three points in this background you can have one level 3, one level 2 and one level 1, or 3 level 1 rites. Problem, rites are ranked Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, not 1 through 5 as the paper game. A similar situation exists throughout the work. This poor work goes to show that the product was published for money not to truly enhance the game.
An excellent use for vampire games.......2001-07-19
Although Werewolves are not something that any vampire wants to see, a Storyteller can often use them to stir up a campaign. This book has rules that make it easy to both create and properly role-play werewolves, or the lupines, as the licks like to call them.
Either way, these 10 foot tall terrors should make anyone afriad. Very, very afraid.

exciting.......2000-09-14
I have read all the Gwen hunter books and loved them all. I actually live in the UK but even without going to New Orleans I feel like I have been there already. Through her descriptions of the food and the scenery I have been taken on a journey. Law of the Wild has continued Gwen hunters story of the Delandes without becoming formulaic or boring. If you havent read itI strongly suggest you do as I could not put it down and cannot wait for the next instalment.
Hypnotic suspense.......1999-07-01
Wow! You really feel as though you are there. You can hear the sounds of the bayous, feel the humid heat and taste the fear. What a spunky heroine Mara is! She's only 17 but she's tough, determined, self sufficient, yet also insecure and vulnerable. The story was fast paced and riveting. I definitely want to read the sequel!

Book Description
How does the law regard and define mental incompetence, when faced with the problem of meting out justice? To what extent has the law relied on extra-legal authorities--be they religious or scientific--to frame its own categories of mental incompetence and madness? Wild Beasts and Idle Humours takes us on an illuminating journey through the changing historical landscape of human nature and offers an unprecedented look at the legal conceptions of insanity from the pre-classical Greek world to the present. Although actual trial records are either totally lacking or incomplete until the eighteenth century, there are other sources from which the insanity defenses can be constructed.
In this book Daniel Robinson, a distinguished historian of psychology, pores over centuries of written law, statements by legal commentators, summaries of crimes, and punishments, to glean from these sources an understanding of epochal views of responsibility and competence. From the Greek phrenesis to the Roman notions of furiosus and non compos mentis, from the seventeenth-century witch trials to today's interpretation of mens rea, Robinson takes us through history and provides the intricate story of how the insanity defense has been construed as a meeting point of the law and those professions that chart human behavior and conduct: namely religion, medicine, and psychology. The result is a rare historical account of "insanity" within western civilization.
Wild Beasts and Idle Humours will be essential reading for anyone interested in the evolution of thinking not merely about legal insanity but about such core concepts as responsibility, fitness for the rule of law, competence to enter into contracts and covenants, the role of punishments, and the place of experts within the overall juridical context.
Customer Reviews:
Not for the Non-Specialist Reader.......2001-09-30
Daniel N. Robinson's Wild Beasts and Idle Humours (The Insanity Defense from Antiquity to the Present) sounds and looks more fun than it actually will be for the average reader without a sure grounding in legal, philosophical and psychological theory and history. The author does indeed cover the period from antiquity to the present, as per the sub-title, and provides many interesting ideas along the way, taking a rather conservative approach, but there are also many cases and people just dropped into the book without any explanation on the assumption that the reader will be familiar with all of these legal cases and philosophers from the past two centuries. A grounding in classical and medieval history (with luck I did have that) will help the reader manage the first part of the book. For students of legal history, this book could prove quite interesting and, perhaps, invaluable as the author makes a clever attempt to bring ideas of insanity as far back as the writings of Homer and Hesiod. For this poor soul, the book was a struggle with a few rewards along the way.

Mind's Eye Theater Changing Breeds.......2000-10-27
Very good book if you like the Mind's Eye Theater system. Has very useful information about incorporating Nuwisha, Corax and Bastet into a LARP setting. A worthy read if you like characters other than wolves.

Customer Reviews:
Great book, but..........2005-08-19
The title promises more than the inside, this book is full of information but is incomplete, in fact, this book is a giant brochure of the services the author's company is offering. If you want the complete info, then contact and hire their services.
despite of this, this book has good info and good ideas, it gives you clues for what and what not to look when you hire salesmen, but i would like something more instructive and more practical... more info to put directly at work.
I am a salesman manager, and like many others i have problems to hire good sales personal and make them produce, so this book looked to me as the solution i was looking for... Very close, but it wasn't.
Great Book, but little How to Advice.......2003-01-31
I am Vice President of Sales with a software company and I'm always looking for insights into the hiring process. I think that the book laid out the top talents needed very well. I agree with what they say and they have the research to back it up.
My only problem is how to implement it. The book sold me on their approach, but I'd need to buy their assessment tool in order to make it work. They did a great job on indirectly selling their tool and services.
I wish it gave me more practical tips on how to evaluate a candidate based on their talents.
Great book on Sales Personalities.......2001-11-18
I had read an article quoting the authors in Business 2.0 (December 2001- "Gods of Sales") this month and it perked my curiosity. After reading some of the digital copy here at Amazon I ordered it. They did a really great job breaking down the traits that make up a sales persons personality. I also like how they match up the sales job with the right employee. The sections on finding sales employees and interviewing are also very helpful.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the section on development is weak. They come right out and say that it would take a lot longer than one book to explain how to develop superior sales people based on their qualities. They lead you down the right road on how to support existing problem children in your sales department, but the examples are so few and that chapter is very short. The real title should be "How to evaluate and hire you next top performer".
THIS BOOK WILL STAY ON MY TOP SHELF OF REFERENCE ITEMS FOR ITS EXCELLENT DETAIL AND SUBJECT MATTER.
Based on five key qualities effective salespeople need.......2001-04-29
In How To Hire & Develop Your Next Top Performer: The Five Qualities That Make Salespeople Great, Herb Greenberg, Harold Weinstein, and Patrick Sweeny successfully collaborate to debunk the myths that age, education, and even experience are valid predictors of sales success -- and share the secrets to effective and successful "job-matching" techniques for hiring top sales performers. Their approach is based on five key qualities effective salespeople must have in today's competitive marketplace: Empathy; Ego-drive; Service Motivation; Conscientiousness; and Ego-Strength. How To Hire & Develop Your Next Top Performer is strongly recommended reading for corporate managers and human resource directors charged with the responsibility of recruiting effective personnel for their marketing department and sales force.
Very Useful but a hard read.......2000-10-26
I found the information in this book extremely helpful. However, it was very difficult to read. The writing style is hard to read at various points in the book. Somewhat like a college psych text book.
Overall it is well worth the price because of the information contained in it. Just be sure to have your cranium in gear when you read it.
If you do any hiring or developing this book is a MUST READ!
