Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

strategy guide or general review of the game ?.......2007-06-01
the strategy guide of medieval 2 total war is one I wouldn't strongly recommand if you are really searching for in depth strategy outlines. It is more a general review of the game, a big manual to say. Altough the content is quite intersting giving some interesting tips and a thourough overview of unit parameters. I expected to have a larger focus on the in game strategy, even suggesting some interesting formations and battle tactics. Certainly because the game is one of the best strategy games ever made. Regretfully the authours of the guide didn't include outlined battle tactis. More a general description of how to conduct siege and open field battles.
So in conclusion a very good review of the game, but not realy a strategy guide
Not worth the price.......2007-02-20
This guide has a few useful hints of play, but not as many as one would expect for such a work. Most of the book is devoted to a unit list, but even that contains many errors and is of limited use because it is not tabulated for easy comparison. Some other lists are interesting, like the character trait list or the building list, but they are also similarly shallow. No in-depth analysis of the game workings is given, which would have been very useful.
I use it occasionally during play for the few tidbits it contains, but I do not recommend it at the price given.
Not only unhelpful, but misleading.......2007-01-19
I am throwing in my hat with the other reviewers: this book is not worth your money. The unit information is consistently incorrect, while the strategy segment borders on vapid. While I did pick up a nugget of wisdom or two (for example, that you can transfer followers between generals), I've learned far more from the internet forums. The game is great, but this manual is not.
If three makes a consensus, then it's official..........2007-01-10
I've been gaming and purchasing gaming manuals since the mid-to-early 90's. Most are very detailed and valuable and serve as true "strategy guides." This guide is very thin on strategy and full on filler. The unit information can actually be gleaned in game. This book is a bit redundant and as the other reviews have hinted, it can be passed over in favor of the internet and/or your own learning curve.
Piece of useless junk.......2007-01-04
As the other reviewer mentioned, the stats are all wrong in this book, some of the units listed aren't even named the same. Before publishing this book, did the editor even bother to check for accuracy or conform to the stats in the final game?? In addition there are so many typos and mislabels and erroneous info that it's ridiculous, did anyone even check this book prior to publishing?
This is nothing more than an appendix of wrong info, there is little to no discussion of strategy, of how to use individual units, what tactics to use on the battlefield, how to manage mix of castles/cities, etc. This book is worthless, having played the game for a couple of weeks, I can write a better strategy guide than this piece of junk.

Customer Reviews:
Sent to the printer too early!.......2006-12-27
The tactical information was somewhat helpful, but the unit stats had so many typos and was so poorly organized, I can't rely on the information to be helpful. I don't think they editors reviewed this with the game publishers before this was sent to the printer. Not worth the money!
USED & OVERPRICED!!!.......2005-10-31
If you are going to buy this book, do yourself a favor and do not buy it from either of these rip offs selling the book for almost $60. It is not worth the price. The original list price is around $19. I don't know where these sellers get the audacity to try to charge people more than 3X as much.
Look around, you will be able to find it for a much lower price. Also, there are several sites online that I have seen that have this book printed in its entirety so that you can print it out if need be. I repeat, If you buy from anyone who wants to sell for over the list price on a strategy guide, you are getting ripped off.
...and sellers, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
NO LONGER AVAILABLE.......2005-01-29
I orderd this guide two weeks ago only to be advised that it is NO LONGER Available. Seems to me they ought remove it from their list.
A Must Have for Any Total War General.......2004-09-02
Strategy guides for video games tend to be... well, horrible. Particularly for a game such as medieval total war, a truly grand strategy game with vast scope and depth, strategy guides tend to be more the manuals that the game SHOULD have shipped with. That's because game manuals tend to be absolutely useless now-a-days. Total war, is an exeption in both cases.
This strategy guide is simply a must-have for any true fan of the game. Sure, you can get by without it. The manual for total war is actually pretty good as far as video game manuals go. But the strategy guide expounds on every aspect touched by the manual and offers a more comprehensive look at the finer points as well as some aspects that are completely absent from the manual but are quite helpful.
If nothing else you'll want to shell out the money for this simply for the unit specs. The guide gives you a detailed look at every unit in the game (this guide predates the expansion pack though, so only the original units are shown). This is a GODSEND! You get the exact combat values for each unit, along with information on how to effectively use each unit type. There's also a nice look at the TW combat system and how it works to use these numbers, as well as bonuses and other modifying factors such as terrain, woods, etc etc. If that wasnt enough they also take a look at morale and all the variables that play into it. This is pretty detailed and nitty gritty (hopefully they didnt leave stuff out!).
Now anytime you fight a battle you thought you had in the bag and lost for reasons unknown you can take a look at the intricacy of the TW combat system and find out why! This is a game that NEEDS a strategy guide as there are many complex elements and strategic and tactical variables. Things like morale, command, vices and virtues, weather, terrain, fatigue, weapons, armor, formation and more can greatly impact the outcome of a battle. Remember one things that seperates TW from an RTS is that even a group of lowly peasants (the weakest unit in the game) can defeat a group of Royal nights (the strongest) if other factors are just right (I've seen it happen myself). That's what makes this game so amazing and so deep - and that's why u need this book if you ever REALLY want to know the game well (the game itself only gives you very vague ideas of a unit's abillities EX "strong charge, weak defense").
There's also some nice walk throughs for the historical battles, some useful tips, a full list of vices/virtues and thier effects, a list of titles, a quick overview for basic strategies to playing each faction in the full campaign, and some other goodies.
Could it have had more? YES! I would like have seen a more comprehensive look at the combat system and an indepth assesment of each unit in addition to the stats. Also the tips and tactics are pretty simplistic. They could have gone into a much better analysis of battle tactics and formations. They never go as far as they could, but as strategy guides go, this is one of the better ones. Kudos to Brady Games for thier work and one can only hope the upcoming guide for "Rome: TW" from Prima will be as good.
I also reccomend you go read Sun Tzu's "The Art Of War" And either "On War" or "The Principals of War" by Carl Von Clauswitz. These will help you improve your tactics and generalship greatly as the designers made the game to mirror many of the real world concepts laid out in these works.
Total War Rules!!!!.......2003-05-20
In my humble opinion, I am tired of generic replicas of Microsofts real-time Age of Empires. Don't get me wrong they are very-good games, but that engine is totally overused. Every single game that comes out now is based on it. Thankyou to the Creative assembly for making a new engine that combines the best of turn based games and adds a realtime battlefield system. Shogun Total War set the stage for the very deep and much enhanced second installment Medieval Total War. The wide selection of campaigns and factions allows for hours upon hours of interesting (dare I say addictive) gameplay. I am truely looking forward to Rome Total War which will blow the competition away!

Highly Recommended!.......2004-05-08
Peg Pickering presents a standard, basic time and self management guide, which is particularly helpful for disorganized people. She teaches you how to organize your work and yourself. Many of the guidelines will be familiar and seem like plain common sense. However, she presents the material in a well-organized brass-tacks way, and her summaries at the end of each chapter are particularly useful highlights of the main points. She also includes a number of charts, forms and quizzes that provide helpful advice for organizing your life and work. Additionally, the book is formatted in a reader-friendly way, with boxes and frequent headlines and type-changes that make it easy to skip ahead to the topics that interest you most. We recommend this good solid guide, particularly for office workers, managers and business professionals.
money well invested.......2003-08-01

An excellent investment!
From reducing stress to creating more leisure time.......2001-08-11

Delivers on the Title's Promise.......2001-07-23
This book contains a somewhat eclectic mix of project planning tips, motivational quotes and anecdotes, and genuine get-your-ass organized tips.
The way this is written, you can read it in one of two ways. You can skim this quickly and extract a good dozen tips for implementation at work tomorrow, or you can take your time, fill out all of the worksheets contained inside, and really examine your work habits thoroughly. Many of the tips inside are really great for simply getting organized at work: the tickler-file concept, the two different methods for to-do lists, to name just a couple.
The writing isn't superb but it does a good job of servicing a wide audience. Whether you're a seasoned manager with some bad habits to examine or a recent college graduate with a procrastination streak to kick, this book will help you.
Great time management resource book........1999-10-30
I first read this book about three years ago and I find myself constantly going back to it for personal tips on time management, but more importantly I use all or parts of it as a training resource for subordinates with time management problems. It's a no nonsense book, laid out logically, easy to read, and contains some great exercises to help drive home different points. You can't go wrong purchasing this book.
