Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description
The premium line of Salvatore hardcover releases continues with this haunting tale.
This new release of the classic R.A. Salvatore novel continues the tale of Salvatore’s signature dark elf character Drizzt Do’Urden™. The series has now been re-numbered to tell the story of Drizzt’s life in chronological order rather than initial release order. Each title in the series showcases these top-selling novels in new, deluxe hardcover editions which feature brand-new cover art by Todd Lockwood and new introductions written by those who have become familiar with Salvatore and Drizzt over the years.
R.A. Salvatore was born in Massachusetts and still makes his home there. He has published numerous Forgotten Realms novels with Wizards of the Coast, Inc., most of which have been New York Times best-sellers. He is also know as the best-selling author of the Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones novelization from Del Rey.

Siege of Darkness Legend.......2007-03-26
As a Salvatore fan I was just picking up the Legend re-release but I love these books Salvatore's description is stellar as usual!
The best Drizzt novel i've read since Homeland.......2007-02-15
Siege of Darkness is an incredible book with author R.A. Salvatore at what I believe is the top of his game. The majority of this novel deals with House Baenre (and therefore Menzoberranzan) planning to wage war on Mithral Hall in a quest for greater domination. Salvatores way of handling character interaction in this novel is especially good, as is his superior ability to illustrate the evil of the drow city Menzoberranzan.
I am a big fan of Salvatore's handling of the underdark, and this book makes a triumphant return to it in great form. Siege jumps right back into the drow's penchant for power in their quest to conquer Mithral Hall and bring House Baenre toward a greater legacy. The plot is full of exciting twists and events that provide intrigue and suspense. I highly recommnend this book to Salvatore fans, fans of the underdark setting and fantasy/fiction fans as a whole. Although I would definitely recommend reading other Drizzt books leading up to this, for familiarity with the characters and setting etc.
My Personal Favorite Drizzt Book........2007-01-28
Siege of Darkness is the third book in the Legacy of the Drow, and my personal favorite out of the entire Drizzt Series. We finally get to see a full scale war and Mithril Hall's denfenses. All our favorite chracter's are back. Even the Harpells come to help Mithril Hall! This is a great book and, in my opinion, the best of all the Drizzt books. After reading the book you will definetly want to pick up the next one, Passage to Dawn.
The Drow attack the Dwarves.......2007-01-20
Siege of Darkness, book 9 chronologically in the Drizzt series, finally gives what the last few books have been leading up to: the epic battle as the underground drow attack Mithril Hall, home of King Bruenor Battlehammer and his clan of dwarves. The battle turns epic when the forces of the barbarians, the Riders from Silverymoon and Nesme, and even the svirfnebli join forces with the dwarves against overwhelming odds.
The first part of the book cleans up the mess left in Menzoberranzan, home of the drow, after Drizzt and co.'s escape and destruction of House Baenre's temple. A side story includes the temporary halt of all magic through some battle of the gods, which lets us see more of Lolth the Spider Queen and the Monster Errtu (whom Drizzt and Wulfgar defeated in an earlier book), and this so-called "Time of Troubles" is a useful device in several plots...they have little to do with the epic battle, but they either continue previous story lines or assumingly lay ground for the next book.
Writing battle scenes is one of Bob Salvatore's greatest skills, and the battles in the caves and out in the valley are some of the best written in this series.
There is also a plot line involving Berkthgar, the barbarian who takes over as king for the fallen Wulfgar. He initially believe he needs Aegis-fang, the weapon King Bruenor crafted specifically for Wulfgar, and Catti-brie and Drizzt convince him otherwise, that he needs to build his own name in battle and not rely on Wulfgars. In the battle scenes, he certainly does that. He becomes an interesting character, hopefully there will be more from him.
Lots of groundwork laid for the next book, including the mysterious prisoner the Lolth gives to Errtu to help him get back to the Material Plan and go after Drizzt. I assume this will be the focus of the next book.
Drizzt Do'Urden KICKS @&$!!!.......2007-01-20
Drizzt is amazing!! Enough Said! I love this book, i feel like im right there with the characters through all thier strife and heartache, through the intense battles and desperate situations. not only that but i feel a deep closesness with all the characters.

Customer Reviews:
greatness all around.......2007-08-06
The R.A Salvatore books for the Drow series is the first books i ever pick up and read. Me not being a reader thought i would never sit a read a book on its entirity, well i was wrong. since the very fist books i just kept reading. Salvatore puts the material in such a vivid way that you get involve in the story and you feel each character and their way of life since i started i read 9 books and working on my ten book. Thats how great the books are i Would recomend to everyone but specially to those people who think they will never read. Last i would like to say i hope that you soon be enjoying the books They're Greatness all aroundLegacy of the Drow Gift Set: The Legacy, Starless Night, Siege of Darkness, and Passage to Dawn (Forgotten Realms: Legacy of the Drow)
Legacy of the Drow.......2007-05-31
"As an old school gamer I dislike so many things that occur in these books, but this is some of the best sword & sorcery reading you will find. This is the 2nd or 3rd trilogy dealing with these characters. The imagination that went into creating the Ecology of the twisted society of the underdark is simply mind blowing."
Drow Gift Set.......2007-01-14
I was pleased at the condition of my order, and the speed which it reached me.
Drizzt.......2003-11-05
I'm guessing most people who are thinking of buying this are already familiar with the author, or perhaps have already read all four books.
If you haven't, then here's what you need to know. These four books center around a good-aligned drow elf named Drizzt, who is now wandering the surface of Faerun. If you've never read about Drizzt before, be advised that these four books are not first in chronological order of Drizzt's life; you'll be given some backstory to understand who Drizzt is, but you'll also know pretty much everything that happened in all the earlier novels, which may lessen your enjoyment of them when you eventually read them. I say "when" rather than "if" because it seems to me that if you approach these novels without an anti-Drizzt or anti-Salvatore mindset, you will love them, and you will go buy all the others.
I'm not going to write out a play-by-play of events in the book, since you can look them each up individually and get plenty of information from other posters. I give these 4 books a total of 5 stars; some are better than others, but none rank below a 3.
As a sidenote, if you are buying this as a gift for someone, you might want to know that they are set in the Forgotten Realms, which is a unique world, NOT a generic fantasy world. I would not purchase this set as a gift for someone unless I already knew that they were familiar with the Forgotten Realms world. It's too complex a place to approach in the middle of a series without understanding the world at least to some degree.

Customer Reviews:
Very average book.......2007-03-04
From my perspective this is a quite average book. You find some interesting charts and amazing facts. But in fact the book is riding the commodity investment theme. Apart from this there is little discussion which companies will profit from a rising Asia...
Asia, a great opportunity.......2006-06-27
China and India, among other economies in Asia, are a tremendous opportunity to profit from their continuous growth. In his book, Mr. Mostrous show us the road to make it happen.
Excellent Overall Perspective.......2006-06-25
Not only on Asia, but some excellent historical perspective on the U.S. markets as well. If you've been wondering about all this talk regarding globalization and how it may affect your investing in the future, this book is a solid read. I would not recommend this for the novice investor but a more intermediate to somewhat seasoned investor.
Global changes, investment opportunities and risks. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did........2006-06-25
An amazing book on everything to changes in different types of food people eat as they have more disposable income to how petroleum is refined into gasoline and different grades of crude. The book is mostly about changes in India and China and the promise and peril of possible investments in these countries with an emerging middle class.
Numerous other important topics that are too numerous to mention. Books about the future and investment themes are not easy to construct if well thought out and with specific, practical, and meaningful suggestions, in this case investment advice. One also has to be open minded and humble, and at the same time confident which the authors seem to be. I think this book accomplishes the above and is a triumph of connecting numerous (moving) dots with expertise and what appears to be a significant amount of research.
This is a well written book. I am a tough grader, but I give it five stars.
An interesting argument for investing strongly in the booming economy in Asia.......2006-05-23
Centuries ago the old silk road and then the spice routes helped enrich Europe for centuries and helped spark the rise of the merchant classes in Italy and other countries. This book makes that case that the Western nations have matured and are actually stagnating while Asia (including India) are benefiting from explosive growth. Since over half the world's populations live in this region, the growth of these economies will make them world economic powers in the decades to come. The authors even make the case for them becoming dominant economic powers.
If you buy into their story, and they are persuasive, you will want to read this book and think about ways to benefit from investing in this growth. After all, it is easier to grow when you start near zero than when you are near one-hundred percent. The book uses all kinds of trends, charts, and stories to make their case.
I will only add two words of caution. First, beware of using the past to predict the future. To quote the economist Herb Stein, "If a trend can't continue, it won't." And as for investing in Asia being different this time, remember the sage advice that whenever someone says to you, "This time it is different" you need to lock you wallet in your safe and change the combination.
The second caution is that there are real risks to property and returns in these countries. You cannot assume that they will treat your invested principle and your gains with the same respect for property (such as it is) as exists in the West. If it suits their interest to change the rules mid-stream, they might well do so. So, be careful.
There is no doubt that there is huge opportunity in Asia and many will find superior returns there. You may be one of them. But many will also acquire losses and make capital gains possible for others. You might be one of them.
