Book Description
The second magical, funny, and fabulously illustrated story in the Far Flung Adventures from the authors of Fergus Crane and the Edge Chronicles.
Corby Flood and her family are about to set sail on the rather ramshackle cruise ship, the S.S. Euphonia. Her boisterous brothers might not have noticed that anything is wrong, but Corby is highly observant and has a lot of time for note-taking and eavesdropping. Onboard, among the odd passengers and eccentric crew, there is a strange group of men in bowler-hats who call themselves The Brotherhood of Clowns. There's also a melancholy wailing sound coming from the hold. It's strictly out of bounds but Corby can't help investigating. What could be inside the crate she discovers down in the hold? As the ship arrives at its destination, Corby must enlist the help of some very well mustachioed locals to uncover the contents of the crate and the dark secrets of the menacing Clowns...

Will anyone believe her discoveries aboard the ship?.......2006-11-06
Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell's CORBY FLOOD provides the second installment to 'Far Flung Adventures' - but no previous familiarity with the series is required to enjoy this, unrelated in plot to the first FERGUS CRANE of the series. Corby faces a cruise ship full of amazing devices and eccentric passengers when she and her family embark on an adventure. She also notices something isn't right - and uncovers a scheme. But will anyone believe her discoveries aboard the ship?
The second Far-Flung Adventure is like a pleasure cruise.......2006-09-24
If you're buying a book for a young reader in the seven to nine age group, you may want to consider this new series. Brought to you by the same people who did "The Edge Chronicles" (another excellent series, but for slightly older kids), this one has large, easy to read print, simple language and wonderful illustrations to help keep the story bubbling along. To add to the fun, the dust jacket opens up into a fold-out map based on the geographical setting of the story.
Corby Flood is the second book in the "Far-Flung Adventures" series, the first being Fergus Crane, also available from Amazon. The third one "Hugo Pepper" will be available in February 2007.
Corby Flood is an eight year old girl. She and her large family are aboard a shabby cruise ship heading along the Coast of Dalcretia on their way to a new school. Armed with her trusty travel advisory "Hoffendinck's Guide", Corby learns about all the exotic ports along the coast while keeping an eye on the other passengers. There are the sinister Brotherhood of the Clowns, the unintelligible Hattenswillers, the mysterious man from Cabin 2 and the smarmy, slimy Lieutenant Letchworth Smith, and then there's the creature in the crate.
Imaginative and action-packed, this one is highly recommended.

Book Description
Clowning is fun. Magic is fun. Putting the two together doubles the fun and enjoyment. In this book you will learn how to effectively combine the humor and funny antics of clowning with the thrill and enchantment of magic.
This is not simply a book about clowning, nor it it just a book of comedy magic tricks. It is a guide on how to be entertainingly funny using magical effects and offbeat stunts in a clownish way.
All of the tricks and gimmicks described in this book are very simple to perform and can be learned in a few minutes. Most require absolutely no manipulative or sleight-of-hand skill. The entertainment comes from the way the tricks are presented and not from the tricks themselves.
Customer Reviews:
A very good book for school performers.......2005-03-04
David Ginn is one of the premier school performers in the United States. He teaches and lectures about magic and school show creation all over the United States. This book tells, in a simple, easy-to-read style, how to do a number of easy magical tricks that don't require a lot of skill or manipulation to perform. But it is not enough to be able to do the tricks. One must also be entertaining while doing them. This book helps performers to be entertaining and funny while performing magic. And that is a pretty amazing stunt all by itself!
The Best.......2000-07-12
This is a very good book. It teaches you a lot on clowning not just funny magic tricks but also how to behave as a clown. This book was very helpful to me and I'm shure it will be helpful to you to. If you are thinking of buying a clowning book, this one should be at the top of your list.
A "must have" resource for all skill levels of clowning.......1998-01-28
David Ginn's CLOWN MAGIC is well written and beautifully illustrated, giving the reader a wealth of information. He covers a wide variety of "magic" skills from the presentation to the actual production of the illusion. This is a must for those in the clowning/magic entertainment field.
Magic for clowns - how-to & why-to.......1996-11-22
Incredibly highly recommended! Although a comedy magician
(not a clown - there is a difference!), David Ginn clearly
understands the difference, and has adapted many of his magic
skits to a clown's world. Among his other credentials, he's
taught at the UW-La Crosse Clown Camp.

Hmmmm........2002-12-12
I've been a children's entertainer for years now, and have used this book before to help me plan parties and games for the kids, but I didn't buy this latest edition as some of the games, I felt, and I know I don't speak for all of my fellow clowns, were a little difficult to imagine.
"Hide the sausage in the Clown's pocket". It just doesn't work for me.
I expected more, but is a good book........2000-06-16
This is a really good book, that focuses mostly on the business side of clowning and putting on shows. It does not teach a lot of tricks but it refers you to books that do. Gives you good ideas of how to conduct business and how to make a good impression on customers. If you want to learn clown magic tricks you should get other books, but if you want to get good clown business advice this is the book.
Very Resourceful.......2000-04-28
This book gave me alot of insight on things I hadn't really thought about, like the "business" side of things. Great ideas on how to get your clown show organized. Lots of good ideas for show routines. It also was full of resources. Great book! However, I wouldn't say it would be for the beginner. it was a little more advanced than i expected.

A great teaching source that's fun..........2000-06-27
I've read all of the magic castle books and I have to say that they are superb. The illustrations are imaginative, and the stories are easy for children, as well as a great educator. The color clown is fun and delightful, teaching children about colors. It's perfect for kindergarten, or even preschool ages.
