Puzzles Can Be Adapted for Training and Workshops.......2005-07-18
How does one invoke an "Aha" moment? How do you lead people from bewilderment to clarity with simple drawings, letters, and numbers? Lloyd King has perfected the art of puzzles, packing them with a triple punch of outright satisfaction, humor, and surprise.
If you are a trainer or workshop leader, these puzzles can be adapted for your use. The puzzles are great for ice breakers for any group or topic or could be used as exercises to support topics such as creativity, humor, or even change management.
I have been a trainer and/or workshop leader for over twenty years and am always looking for new ideas and ways to adapt existing materials to my training needs. Let me give an example how you can adapt Lloyd's puzzles as an ice breaker.
* Find out the number of participants in your workshop or session.
* Prior to your workshop pick out some puzzles from Lloyd King's book.
* You can simply redraw the puzzle on paper for each group.
* Consider dividing the workshop participants into small groups of 5-6 people.
* Offer participants an overview of the exercise. "Each group will be given a puzzle to solve. You have five minutes to work together and solve it. You will need to pick a representative who will describe your process to the entire group."
* Allow participants 5 minutes to collaboratively solve the puzzle.
* At the end of the time period have the representative from each group come forward one at a time, show the puzzle to the entire group, and describe how they reached the solution. If the group did not solve the puzzle - open the challenge up to the entire group. Provide guidance if necessary.

Puzzles Are Fun.......2005-07-17
I like Lloyd King's puzzles! They are challenging, creative, often very amusing, and great fun. For me, this is a 5 star puzzle collection, indeed Lloyd is a 5 star puzzler, and has been for the 20 or so years that I have known him.
King sized creativity.......2005-07-15
Coming from a relatively puzzle-less background, I am a recent convert to the imaginative puzzle world presented by Lloyd King's special brand of AHA! creative magic. This beautifully presented book contains puzzles ranging from the relatively simple to the almost impossible. Fortunately all the answers, with full and elaborate explanations, are available in the book so the reader is not only able to obtain emotional release if the need arises (as assuredly it will!) but is also able to gain a real insight into the mechanics of a truly creative and imaginative mind and in so doing improve his/her own creative and lateral thinking. This is a highly recommended book.
Magical AHA! puzzles.......2005-07-15
This genial book is one of three books written by the master of puzzles Lloyd King. This one is his latest and maybe the best one, even if it would be rather unfair to draw that conclusion, because every one of his books is very different and unique in it's own way. Lloyd's book "Test Your Creative Thinking" is the one that made me love puzzles.
"Amazing AHA Puzzles" contains over 300 puzzles. The remarkable and amazing thing is that every single puzzle is very unique and doesn't resemble any other puzzle in the book. That shows the writers colorful and versatile imagination and creativity.
English is not my native language, so in the beginning, I found some of the wordy puzzles rather difficult. The fine thing is that these puzzles will even make you think English and learn English in quite an unique way. Therefore, I would recommend Lloyd King's books even to those who want to learn English and be better at English.
The book's wonderful illustrations show us that an amazing amount of energy and time has been invested into every page of this work of genius.

Dan The Man.......2007-10-01
I admit I am a big fan of Dan Kennedy,so I was not disappointed with the NO BS Sales Success. There are pearls of wisdom for the experienced salesperson as well as the newbie who still believes the customer really will "think about it"and get back to him. Well worth reading and re reading again.
No bs selling or an example of an infommercial book?.......2007-05-28
My profile: 43 yo beginner enterpreneur
It is very difficult to review this book, because in a way, I started in April 2005 and it is just now that I finished reading it. Add to that, that I received every week about 4 email newstletters from his website filled with valuable info on marketing, sales opportunities, etc as well as the pitch to buy his products.
- Does he deliver? Yes, but if you can tune to the metamessage
- Does he have methodology? yes, but he is almost shy of it and never expands on it. ( Too bad, it would be a classic in sales if he did)
- What he say, will it help you in the "real world"? If the "real world" is the US, maybe, if not, Im not too sure, adaptions have to be implemented.
Since I a not living in the US I can take this book with a grain of salt and see if it just "rides the well travelled roads of consumer behaviour of the US" or does he have something different to say on the matter? Remember, in US mass marketing, and aspects related to the "secret of sales", they are truly the masters in "selling the crap so neatly dressed in its golden wrap".
Dan is straight forward and we have to hand it to him, as his examples come rather blundtly.. yet, for timeless wisdom, there are a lot of other good sources, so it is not this that makes the book unique.
He positions himself in an aura of mystery, he only onced worked in sales surrounded by mediocre performers which he did not emulate, and then went on his own and earns milions of dollars by some sort of divine intervention that separated him from the pack.. . but he is willing you to tell you how, of course, if you invest $$$ to learn it, so in here is not the value of the book.
Somewhere 3/4th ahead, he shares one big secret with you, he goes back to the time he was an average Joe, with big dreams in his mind, with all the motivation and desire in his heart, he listened to all the tapes, yet he still had "moths in his wallet", then it dawn on him, if he could manage supply and demand in such a way that he will have more demand than the supply he can givem then he will always be rich, simple, right?
To me that was the slap in the face and the kick in the seat of the pants that I needed ( I am obviously leaving details out). I agreed with him totally: its not cold calling, is not the sales numbers game, is not all of those worn out mindless "shoot to everything that moves" strategy that will get you ahead.. I laughed at the reviewer who summarized part of the strategy as "playing hard to get".. well, I guess you can say it that way, but I view as he does, you have to "position" yourself in the mind of target segment.. and he gives you examples to do this (finally, he gives away somthing "proprietary" that is not taken from "Poor Richard's Almanac"). As a matter of fact, now you beging to see that the whole book is an infommercial destined to leading you to a new purchase as Scherezade would do with the sultan in 1001 nights..
No, the book does not give away the secrets as how to position yourself, but gives very good guidelines, so maybe you don't have to fall for the "Never cold call again" type of book.
As a beginner enterpreneur I thought that my knowledge of the client base, given my my years working in a corporation that gave me an "aura" of an expert supplier, was enough to assure me success, now in the light of this book, I can see where I am missing out, just for this the book has value.
packed with information, and advertisements..........2007-01-19
I got this book after reading another of Dan Kennedys books. I was not disappointed. After all the book was less than ten dollars, so my expectations were not all that high. I was pleasantly surprised.
Dan talks about many ways to sell and market more, better and faster. The book is packed with information and many shameless plugs for the author, who is the king of shameless plugs. But it obviously seems to be working for him. I think the plugs have a lot to teach also. Look at the way he throws it in and then use them for your own self promotion.
Overall it was an excellent book made even better by its low cost.
A MUST-READ for All Marketers.......2006-12-26

Good, Interesting ... I'd really say three and a half stars.......2007-08-10
This is my first Dan Kennedy book and I thought it a slightly better than the average book in the "wealth attraction" genre.
The chapters are short, sweet and to the point. There is a lot in the book that makes sense or, at least, resonated with me true or plausible. As with most books about wealth attraction, Dan Kennedy uses a lot of anecdotes about people who have "made it" by using the methods described in the book. He also offers advice that contradicts the conventioanl wisdom which I found refreshing.
It is obvious that he's read the genre and knows what advice is in other books. So, in some cases, he flat out says their stuff doesn't work and his stuff does. Fos some reason, that approach appealed to me.
Of course, the book is sprinkled liberally throughout with directions to go to his various websites to connect with his free newsletter or not-so-free programs and books. There are also the requisite stories in the back of the book by his proteges and buddies sharing how they became millionaires and, oh yeah, you can become one, too, if you connect with thier websites and programs.
I like Dan's writing style and a lot of his advice. A lot has been written about before so it's not a 5 star but definitely worth the price of the book.
NO B.S. - Dan Kennedy is a the best.......2007-08-08
Great book! Dan Kennedy is an absoulute craftsman with words. Look forward to reading the other B.S. series books.
Adjust your attitude and Take Action !!!.......2007-07-13
This book is all about the way you think.
Money, actions that you take, people that you hang around with are all discussed.
It's not one of those "If you dream or constantly think about it then it will happen" type of books.
I started putting into practice some of the ideas Dan discusses even before I finished the book and immediately saw results. A lot of the ideas I had known in the back of my mind but reading them coaxed me into taking action on them and not just thinking about them.
You know a book is good when it helps you before you get through reading it.
Some of the highlights are
* Don't wait till you get all your ducks in a row..start NOW, you can make course corrections as you progress and learn.
*Make sure you do at least one thing a day to keep the pipeline of future income filled.
* Don't just think in terms of daily transactions but also the value of future business.
* Get rid of negative people that hang around you. Dan gives them a great label of Wealth Blockers.
* Hope is not a strategy... is this not one of the truest things that you have ever heard and yet we all know people that live with no real plans of how to achieve success.
I could go on but if you combine this book with No B.S. Time Management for Entrepreneurs (No B.S. Series) you will have a one-two punch that will put you miles ahead of the competition.
All of Dan's no B.S, books are not of the same level of quality, but I think this is the best one of the bunch.
If you have read this far then you need to take action. Buy this book along with Dan's Time Management and put what they teach into practice.
Kennedy's Time Management will show you how to get rid of the Time Vampires so that you can put the business advice he dispenses in this book to use.
Just knowing stuff is useless unless you put it to use. There is a phrase that NLP people will recognize called congruence... your actions and thoughts must be aligned to produce results.
By reading the various reviews you have shown that you are interested in achieving success as an entrepreneur. Now you must make your actions match your thoughts and get the info that is contained in this book.
Its cost is much less than a single night out and it will alter the way you act and think for the rest of your life. that's a pretty good bargain by any measure.
This is the Bible of No B.S. Books.......2007-07-04
Read the book cover to cover on a recent flight to Las Vegas.
Every word rings true. For readers who are sick of reading about "being passionate" about your business, and all of the other "feel good" books on the shelves right now, this is a must read.
I would go so far as to say that there is not 1 word in this book that is not on point. No fluff, no filler.
Just as the title states... No B.S.
Beyond the Myth of Attraction.......2007-03-19
Let's get the basics out of the way. (1) This book is full of self-promotion; (2) Kennedy can be offensive, irritating and arrogant;(3) Kennedy has helped create more than 100 millionaires and knows whereof he speaks in terms of wealth creation; (4)some or all of this information can be found in other books--but you just don't find it condensed and targeted like this. There is a lot of hype out there today about "focusing on a goal" and it somehow magically will be drawn to you. Kennedy says that defining and focusing on a goal is critical, but if you want to attract wealth into your life, you must consider your beliefs about wealth, your strategies to bring wealth into your life and your behaviors in implementing those strategies. So, think beliefs, behaviors and strategies. Most of us have unconscious beliefs about money (it is limited, it has to be hard earned) that get in our way of making it, and most of us don't have behavior congruent with our desire to attract wealth--that is, congruent with the behavior of those who have already attracted wealth. The book is really only 167 pages--26 "Wealth Magnets."(That's really all you need to read and re-read.) The rest is info from successful entrepreneurs and Kennedy's recommended resources. Read it or not, Kennedy will say he doesn't care. He has put the information into the universe and now its up to you. Thirteen bucks and a couple hours of your time might show you something you don't know. To be honest, Kennedy frequently ticks me off with his over the top no BS attitude, but you cannot argue with his results--or his comprehensive, no nonsense approach to wealth attraction. One final thought. The book is only 13 bucks because it is partially a marketing mechanism--he wants you as a customer so the book is cheap knowing the long term value of anyone who joins his Kennedy Inner Circle. But that is a marketing lesson and a wealth creation strategy, isn't it?

Book Review ~ No B.S. Business Sense.......2007-05-24
I must admit this book review is one of the hardest I've written. Usually, there are only a handful of golden nuggets I can easily bullet point in a review for one book. With Dan Kennedy's No B.S. Business Success - The Ultimate No Holds Barred, Kick Butt, Take No Prisoners, Tough & Spirited Guide, I found something tangible and applicable to entrepreneurialism in each chapter.
As I read books, I keep a highlighter and sticky note pad close at hand to flag points to ponder or implement. You should see the numerous sticky notes poking out of this book. I'll share the most poignant ideas and encourage you to read the book to find out what speaks to you.
My absolute favorite passage from the book is found on page 11 and if you are a true, spirited entrepreneur, I imagine it will speak to you as well. Here it is "The fact- and it is fact-the line between "work" and "play" is thoroughly blurred for the true entrepreneur and the corollary fact that entrepreneur's business life is often, frankly, bluntly, more important to him (her)than his (her) personal and social life are a huge source of befuddlement, annoyance, and tension for those around him (her)." (note I have inserted the reference to "her" because I don't want it to be overlooked by the "good ole boys club" that this applies to many women entrepreneurs as well.
Kennedy counters this statement with sage advice pointing out that you don't want to marry your business, but rather marry the goals of the business. His point being, you own the business, don't let it own you. Throughout the book he shares ways to delegate and systematically reduce the dependency of your business on you. In order to truly experience wealth, security and freedom, you must embrace this notion and it's one of the hardest for entrepreneurs to do. The key, align yourself with sharp team members so you don't have lose sleep because you think if you don't do it, it won't be done right.
Here are a handful of the nuggets that spoke to me (and trust me there are many more).
· Hire support people to help with marketing but be careful who you hire and always check references.
· Sell yourself on selling. It's one of the most important skills an entrepreneur needs to succeed.
· Believe in your own abilities. You are probably a lot farther along than you would have guessed and you can be a success in your field.
· Never rely on only one person to fill one critical, key role in your businesses. Always have support or a backup plan.
· Don't become so absorbed in your success that affects other aspects of your life.
Again, these are nuggets that really spoke to me. Kennedy gives sound advice and applicable strategies throughout including how to deal with legal aspects of business, how to stay sane in an insane world, how to manage cash flow, how to achieve peak productivity, how to attract good luck and more. This book is well worth the read.
Loved it........2007-04-21
No B.S. is an incredible book and one I would highly recommend to any entrepreneur or business owner. Written in plain English, Kennedy's style is easy to grasp and understand. He avoids a lot of the technical/business speak that bogs many business books down. After reading this you'll believe that Kennedy is just like you and me... and that you have just as much opportunity for success that he's had. That's what makes No B.S. great!
I didn't find a boring chapter, nor did I find a chapter in which there was nothing to learn. Kennedy outlines what it takes to succeed in business in clear principles that anybody can do, if they set their mind to it. He covers everything from personal determination to how to attract good luck. (Yes, you can attract luck!)
The only chapter that I found less than enlightening and even somewhat ignorant is the chapter on Internet marketing. Of course, this is clearly my own bias as an Internet Marketer. Dan clearly doesn't understand (and admits as much) the potential for Internet marketing. But even with is own ignorance, Dan approaches that methodically and open to what the Internet can do for business. He's just an offline marketing guy!
If you read only one business book this year, make it this one. Seriously. After reading it you'll understand why Kennedy is so successful and you'll know that you can be just as successful if you put your mind and effort to that goal.
Right Between The Eyes.......2006-06-16
You'll either love this author and book or hate them. Dan Kennedy refreshingly hits you right between the eyes with sound business advice and reality. If you have thick skin and a sincere willingness to want to succeed in business, you won't want to miss this read.
A good intro to Kennedy and to Running Your Business Cost Effectively.......2005-10-06
I've read Dan Kennedy's stuff for years. I think pound for pound, dollar for dollar, he's one of the best. For those who have been around, this serves as a reinforcement and at times a firm kick in the butt about the need to stick with the basics.
Running a business requires marketing, management and problem-solving know how. I try to convey this to my clients too. It's mastering the hundreds of small details that leads to big success. This book cover all of those areas realistically. Dan has always taught that everyone's wants the magic pill. No pill here. But for $10 you really can't go wrong.
Not a great book at all.......2005-02-16
The litmus test for any book on selling is, will it help me make my numbers? Any book that doesn't do that doesn't deserve to be on the shelf in my book. Boy, was I sucked in by this one.
I read this book based upon the glowing reviews it received. All I can say it that they must be friends of the author or paid reviews because this book is one of the least effective books on selling I've ever read.
If you want to base your career on things like "Create good guilt" (wow, nothing like a little manipulation, huh?), or "Create Differentiation" (now, there's a brand new concept) (both of these are from page 87 which I pulled at random).
Save your money. If you want to CLOSE BUSINESS then get Strategic Selling or Conceptual Selling, both classics that will help you make your numbers.
Good selling,
Bob

Excellent.......2002-03-16
I'm amazed -- Where else can you get so much great business advice for so little money? This is an absolute must read for anybody who is starting their own business. If you really want to know what it takes to be successfully self-employed -- read this book. Hard core advice for people who want to succeed in business. As true today as it was in 1993 when Dan wrote it.
Loved it!.......2000-05-23
I've always been a big fan of Dan Kennedy. I don't subscribe to his marketing newsletter anymore because life has taken me elsewhere. (Actually, I need fewer clients, not more).
I read this book several years ago, and I read it at least twice more after that. I truly love this book as well as all of his other titles. What makes Dan Kennedy and this book in particular, click with me, is his contrarian approach to business and life. Dan has a high school diploma and that's it. He is street smart and self-taught. I love those nitty gritty real life "in the trenches" business war stories. You know the old saying, "Those who can do, those who can't teach." Dan has done it all, and then he teaches it. I'm glad he does.
One of the things that has always struck me about his writing is his sarcastic writing style. It's so "in your face." It's not sugar coated "feel good" stuff that goes away after you put the book down. It's real common sense. It works because he's done it. He's living proof of having done it, and this is a great collection of war stories. For the price, it's a steal.
I'm giving this book 5 stars because of originality and real-life examples. I found myself laughing much of the time at the hilarity of some of the stories.
Apparently, this book is out of stock or out of print. I would recommend using a search service to locate a good used copy. You certainly can't have my copy!

More Goodness from Mr. NOBS.......2007-09-27
Dan Kennedy can do no wrong, and this book is no exception. Much better than the books that show you how to go through your email the fastest way possible...Dan shows you how to get people to not send you email.
Great, great stuff.
No B.S. Time Management for Entrepreneurs .......2007-07-16
How much of your day is actually spent in productive work? Not the time you spend in your office staring at the computer screen, on the phone, checking your email, or dealing with the umpteenth question from that employee that always seems to need just another minute of your time. Productive time is the time you are actually earning money by directly working on a project.
No BS Time Management for Entrepreneurs explains that it's those little irritants and side tasks that only take a few minutes of your time that gradually and progressively eat away your precious time. Therefore, the only real way to make productive use of your time is to limit these distracters and focus on the real work at hand.
Though I had already realized a good deal of my own distracters and time eaters before I read this book, No BS Time Management for Entrepreneurs made me realize exactly how limiting these behaviours really are and how much more productive I could become. I don't have to limit sleep to a few hours a night. I just have to realize the value of my time and react appropriately.
Short and sweet.......2007-06-16
The thing I like about this book is its no-nonsense, get-to-the-good-stuff style. There are lots of tips, but probably the best advice is to calculate your desired income and plan your work days accordingly. There is also a good chapter on the 10 productivity tips that actually work. Those two items alone are worth the price of the book.
Essential Knowledge for Success in any field.......2007-05-13
This book should be required reading for any business school student.
There used to be mandatory lists of the classics in some English literature courses...this should be in a similar list of mandatory reading for anybody wanting to make the most of their time.
Kennedy describes how certain people will suck up your time that you could and should be putting to better and much more productive use.
He also talks about how people who are habitually late are also unethical and shady in other parts of their lives.
This part really struck home to me because the night before I read this part I had decided to quit associating with a certain individual who was always late and didn't have the kind of business ethics I wished to be associated with. Seeing Dan's writing about it only made me realize how we allow bad habits to rob us of better usues of our time.
There are also hints about how to not allow phone calls to interrupt your thinking and producing.
Kennedy also talks about how a simple pen and paper can be more reliable than an electronic device that might fail and lose your info. I had been using a 4 x 6 index card myself for many years because I too found it to be more easier to transport than an electronic device and more durable than Dan's suggestion of a folded legal pad piece of paper.
There are other tips that make this book one of the best values you can ever buy if you only put it to use.
Information packed, entertaining read.......2007-02-12
Of all the No B.S. books, this one is the best of the bunch. True to its title "No BS", Dan gives real-world, down to earth tips on managing time effectively. Forget about fancy, nonsense small talk, this one contains brutally honest, harshly simple pointers that makes this book a classic. In fact, I read this book at least three times and found it valuable every time.
FYI, Dan's books and style is not for the timid person who's looking for affirmation. This is no "feel good" book, it's a blast of ice-cold reality every serious or semi-serious entrepreneur needs.
