La La Lovely.......2007-08-03
We don't go anywhere without this book. My baby loves it and I often find her just sitting in her room and flipping its pages, "reading" it to herself. Excellent!
A marvelous classic.......2007-07-18
Read this innumerable times to my daughter in her younger years -- one of our mutual favorites. Too many wonderful memories to count.
MOO BAA We love this book!.......2007-06-07
My daughter received this book when she was just a few months old. She is now almost 2, and has the book memorized. She can recite it from memory! She loves this book and we read it almost every day. She likes to point to the animals at the end while I make the noise they make. this was the very first book she could read on her own. we just adore it!
Moo-Baa-La-la-la.......2007-03-14
This is a fun, lyrical book to read aloud. I've been giving it as gifts since my son was born almost 20 years ago.
Best Boynton!.......2007-02-16
So hard to choose which is our favorite Sandra Boynton book, but it might be this one. We all have it memorized, from Grandma to the kids. Boynton's work is so catchy it's easy to memorize them, though. The illustrations are always so bright and cheerful, with the cutest expressions on the animal's faces.

Customer Reviews:
My Daughter Loves it!.......2007-05-26
I got this book for my baby girl when she was about 9 months old. She loved it immediately. Both my husband and I are bilingual and would like our daughter to develop a familiarity with her native language early. This is a great translation. My little girl loved it. She would bring it to her father or I so that we'd read it to her. On a family trip, whenever she would get fussy, I would just recite the book from memory and she would laugh. I highly recommend it. It's hard to find good spanish books, but this is a good find!
Fun book lets kids learn animal sounds.......2006-06-21
I read this book to my kids who really have enjoyed learning and recognizing the animals. They have fun making the animal sounds as we read.
Because the book has few words, even a non-Spanish speaker can get through it with the kids.
I think in an attempt to rhyme, the translators have put a little silliness into the book. At times the animals say things that don't really make sense. But to me, it's a minor issue.
All in all, my children have really enjoyed the animal sounds and cute illustrations.
Lost in Translation.......2006-05-04
I bought this book for my 8-month old daughter, as I had seen the English version of this book and really enjoyed the rhymes. Spanish is my first language and I intend to raise my daughter bilingual, so I though this was a fun book to start introducing some words and animal sounds. Well, I must say that the Spanish version of this book is not nearly as entertaining as the English version. This book just doesn't rhyme at all! Why would three singing pigs say something so meaningless as "Asi fue"?? Then you get three pigs saying "oink" day and night and a "Ya est?" phrase that was obvioulsy added to keep some rhyme, even though it doesn't make any sense at all. I'm dissapointed with this book and wish more time had been spent on properly translating it.
So sweet, and wonderful to add to animal vocabulary.......2006-02-01
Many Spanish books teach how to say the NAME for the animal in Spanish - this one is so sweet, funny, and enjoyable, and adds to their vocabulary the SOUNDS the animals make. Again, another great board book to go along with Flip Flop Spanish. I'm tickled to have found this line, and will be using all of Boynton's Spanish Board books in my Preschool Spanish Classes.
An excellent translation of a beloved board book.......2004-09-26
The English _Moo, Baa, La-la-la_ was the first Sandra Boynton book I ever saw, and I instantly fell in love. I bought it long before I had anyone to whom to read it, and quickly developed the ability to recite it from memory (to sell people on a new favorite author).
When my little nephew was born, I began reading to him from every book I had that he might appreciate. This is what I do with all tiny children, but in his case EVERY child-related thing in his home was electronic, and I was concerned for his development. I began by reading to him the lone Spanish-language board book I had at the time, _Recién Nacido_ (which I also highly recommend).
The first time I read this book to him, in English, he was seated on my lap and facing the book, but ... the moment I let out a good loud "MOO," he nearly gave himself whiplash trying to see where that strange noise had come from! The animal noises fascinated him to the point that this became the one book he wouldn't explore alone; he just turned it over and over, apparently seeking the button to push for the sound effects. Despite the puzzlement, this quickly became one of a group of favorites he would pull out of the basket during every visit.
When I found the Spanish translation, our nephew was out of the country, with an indefinite return date. I bought it anyway, waiting for the chance to show him. When he returned, age 2 1/2, after nearly a year away, he scarcely recognized us and was very upset. I went home, got the Spanish and English of this book, and went over to see if we could get re-acquainted this way. He immediately sat down to look and giggled now at the animals themselves, which he recognized after a year on the farm. "¡Vaca!" "¡Caballo!" Both versions became great favorites, and often he chose to pick up the one right after the other.
Other translations of charming books, especially the rhyming ones, too often fall short. _Muú, Beee, Así fue_ does not disappoint. Fear not to stock up on copies of this one in *both* languages, to share as often as possible with other families and spread the joy around.

Quacking for More.......2000-10-22
A classic storybook with enough animals for a complete make- believe barnyard. These are stories just long enough to pique the interest of your toddlers, yet short enough for their attention span. I brought this book to my daughter's playgroup and read it aloud to 8 kids. They were all mooing, baaing, & quacking before I was through. It was precious.

Book Description
What are the most fundamental differences among the political economies of the developed world? How do national institutional differences condition economic performance, public policy, and social well-being? Will they survive the pressures for convergence generated by globalization and technological change? These have long been central questions in comparative political economy. This book provides a new and coherent set of answers to them. Building on the new economics of organization, the authors develop an important new theory about which differences among national political economies are most significant for economic policy and performance. Drawing on a distinction between 'liberal' and 'coordinated' market economies, they argue that there is more than one path to economic success. Nations need not converge to a single Anglo-American model. They develop a new theory of 'comparative institutional advantage' that transforms our understanding of international trade, offers new explanations for the response of firms and nations to the challenges of globalization, and provides a new theory of national interest to explain the conduct of nations in international relations. The analysis brings the firm back into the centre of comparative political economy. It provides new perspectives on economic and social policy-making that illuminate the role of business in the development of the welfare state and the dilemmas facing those who make economic policy in the contemporary world. Emphasizing the 'institutional complementarities' that link labour relations, corporate finance, and national legal systems, the authors bring interdisciplinary perspectives to bear on issues of strategic management, economic performance, and institutional change. This pathbreaking work sets new agendas in the study of comparative political economy. As such, it will be of value to academics and graduate students in economics, business, and political science, as well as to many others with interests in international relations, social policy-making, and the law.
Book Description
Recasting labor studies in a long-term and global framework, the book draws on a major new database on world labor unrest to show how local labor movements have been related to world-scale political, economic, and social processes since the late nineteenth century. Through an in-depth empirical analysis of select global industries, the book demonstrates how the main locations of labor unrest have shifted from country to country together with shifts in the geographical location of production. It shows how the main sites of labor unrest have shifted over time together with the rise or decline of new leading sectors of capitalist development and demonstrates that labor movements have been deeply embedded (as both cause and effect) in world political dynamics. Over the history of the modern labor movement, the book isolates what is truly novel about the contemporary global crisis of labor movements. Arguing against the view that this is a terminal crisis, the book concludes by exploring the likely forms that emergent labor movements will take in the twenty-first century.
Customer Reviews:
Good coverage for labor unrest.......2006-07-11
The history events on labor movements for the past 130 years were put together in this book. However, the book has very few tables and figures, making it very dry to read.
It will be better to cover just a narrow range, say year 1956 to 2006, for more graphical illustrations.
It is a useful reference book for researchers.
Best Book on Contemporary Labor Studies.......2004-11-27
As a labor educator for 22 years, director of a labor education center, and adjunct professor of labor studies, this is simply the best book on labor studies I have ever read. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in figuring out what is happening to the world labor movement today. I can't say enough or recommend it enough.

Book Description
This comparative study of industrial capitalism is an examination of state-economy relations in mixed economies ranging from the interventionist German and Japanese to the less interventionist Anglo-American. Following the postwar consensus that resulted in the 'golden age' (1950-1973) and ended with the energy crisis, the Anglo-American economies adopted neoliberalism while Germany and Japan remained interventionist. This resulted in the emergence of national types of capitalism. While analyzing the increased competition between them, the author also notes the influence of globalization as well as 'alternative capitalism' with the survival and re-emergence of industrial districts.

Book Description
The Emergence and Evolution of Markets examines the development of markets based on empirical examples from Western economies and from the post-socialist economies of Eastern Europe. It provides an historical dimension to the present problems of transition. The Emergence and Evolution of Markets clearly demonstrates that liberalization, privatization and changes to formal institutions are not in themselves sufficient to create a successful market economy. In the first part, there is an analysis of general aspects of economic theory with regard to market evolution and an historical assessment of the development of markets. The authors then examine the experiences of some specific markets, including the telecommunications and stock markets to draw general conclusions. In part three they focus on the emerging market systems in post-socialist countries, particularly Kyrgyzstan and Bulgaria. In addition, the discussion offers an empirical analysis of the evolution of capital, currency and agricultural markets, emphasizing the importance of transaction costs and institutions in the development of these markets. This major book will prove invaluable to academics and policy makers interested in the areas of transition economics, political economy, and policy analysis.

Book Description
Dramatic events have held back the transformation of the Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) into a democratic society with a functional, private ownership economy. Most recently, recession in the Western countries and the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union have proven barriers to such a metamorphosis. This volume provides a comparative overview of the ongoing changes in the legal regulation of industrial relations in the CEEC. It discusses the current transformation and development taking place in Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, the Slovak Republic, and Slovenia, and provides the reader with an insight into how the fall of communism and the transition to market economies have affected the field of labour law throughout the region. Labour Law and Industrial Relations in Central and Eastern Europe offers a unique examination of the effects of numerous factors and forces on the field of labour law in this actively-changing region.

Book Description
This study examines the development of capitalism in Israel. Taking a different view from the traditional modernization perspective, Ben-Porat argues that since 1948--when Israel became a state--the process of forming a capitalist society has underlain all other major processes. To explain capitalism in Israel, a perspective is needed that treats the problems of implanting capitalism in post-colonial states. Problems include the undeveloped class structure; the inability of the bourgeoisie to fulfill its capitalist role; the continuing post-colonial dependency on state support; and, most importantly, the central role of the state in enhancing, but also regulating, capitalism.
