      The authors spend so much time dropping the names of the people and companies they are consulting for, there is no time for any meat. More good examples of how to do some of the things they say millionaire sales people do would make this book much better. The book is mostly a marketing ad for their coaching services.

      I read a ton of books but have never been compelled to write a review - until now. While this book contained a couple of new sales ideas, most of it was about all the coaching clients they helped with details left out. Certainly Dr. Moine and his group are quite talented and have no doubt helped many sales professionals - but if you think you're going to find out anything more than general ideas/concepts in this book, you're dreaming. I'm glad I got it from the library and didn't have to buy it. FWIW, to date, the most comprehensive and detailed book on marketing details/techniques that I have seen is Hogan's Psychology of Persuasion.

      Few salespeople can rely on pure instinct to sell successfully. Those few who become sales millionaires without working to improve their skills were probably sustained by a doting aunt in the first place. But, those who look on sales as a business that can be learned and must be practiced and refined are the ones who usually become sales millionaires. Donald Moine and Ken Lloyd preach what they practice. Both men have earned a significant living selling themselves and selling what they learned in the process. Although they have never sold a car or a bungalow, their analysis of the salesperson's dilemma is specific and accurate. Their techniques for motivating sales excellence will ring true to everyone who ever faced a sales objection and drew a blank.       Amherst Media publishes some great books. Their books are usually to the point and full of practical examples etc. This particular book it nothing like others that I have read. The author rambles on and on without getting to the point until the end of the chapter. The author goes on tangents, discussing topics like "the percentage of people who can remember a punch-line to a joke" (I am serious). There are some good tips but you must search through 90% of fluff to get to one or two good points.

      The author claims that if you start the bid at $.99 with no reserve, that no matter what the item is, that you'll get more for it than you thought you'd get for it.

      i don't know if that's true. I've seen many auctions on eBay where the seller got ripped off because only one person bid on an item, and the bid was for $.99.

      While years ago the author sold his Viper using the suggestions in his book and made a profit on it, I don't think that in today's market that would happen. Even with his suggestions, things don't work that way anymore, at least from what I've seen happening.

      It isn't a bad ebook. The suggestions are pretty good if you're auctioning stuff that isn't expensive and you could afford to lose money on. However, if it is something that really is valuable, you shouldn't necessarily count on selling it for what it is worth if you follow his suggestions.

      The copyright on this may be 2004, but if you are just getting started selling on eBay this little gem is invaluable. I followed the advice, and with literally thousands of other products comparable to mine, I was one of the few who actually received bids and sold my items. I attribute everything to the sound principles in this ebook.
      It's fun to read, packed with good tips, and worth the price just for the sample email letters included! I encountered a "Troll" with my first auction, but thanks to this ebook I knew exactly what was happening and what to do.
      There may be other books that provide all the technical aspects, but this is the FIRST one you should read if you're a newbie.

      ...you're looking for good advice for selling a few items on eBay. It has very good advice for maximizing your bids, writing your ad, etc. However, if you're looking for something to guide you in starting an ongoing eBay business at a high level, this is not the choice to make. In addition, if you are already using eBay to run your "virtual garage sales", you're not going to find much here that you don't already know. So I suppose my 1 star rating is based as much on my expectations and goals as it is the book itself.

      I've just finished this ebook and I am quite pleased. I've read a few books of this sort and they are usually just useless fluff, and none really answer the question of what to sell on ebay. This book does do that, and gives pros and cons of different ways to purchase products.

      There are a few issues with the book. Its a bit out of date, it was publised in 2004, so some of the information is no longer valid. Also the author doesnt seem to be above slightly shady practices, like misrepresentation(which someone else explained in a previous post), or padding shipping(which everyone clearly does, but still its a bit shady).

      I was able to get this from my library's electronic resources, but I would recommend buying it if you cant do that. Its targeted to fairly new ebayers who have sold a few items and have a feedback of atleast 5 but preferably 10, and are looking to start at least a part-time business.

      This ebook describes the eBay of yesteryear. Today, when it comes to pricing your items, this ebook's mandate to start every auction at $.99 or less is a prescription for disaster. It's a buyers market on eBay and unless you know the demand for your item you may well be giving it away. That might be fine if you're just clearing out the closet but not if your buying merchandise to resell.

      There's some good basic info in here but nothing you couldn't find at eBay and its many forums for free.

      If your going to buy and resell product on eBay skip this book and read "eBay Strategies : 10 Proven Methods to Maximize Your eBay Business" buy Scott Wingo. It explains what sells and what doesn't sell well on eBay.

        Jody Hornor's book can be a valuable resource for small-business owners as well as marketing professionals--anyone who wants to increase profits and get the most from their marketing and advertising efforts. I have found this book indispensable in my current role as a marketing consultant and my former role as a marketing professional for an international nonprofit organization. It is an excellent reference guide and workbook that has helped me tremendously. The format of the book, including the valuable and convenient worksheets, makes this a great addition to your reference library, whether you're a beginner or a marketing pro.

        As I read this book I realize how many things my partners and I should have done differently when we owned our business 3 years ago. We had a quality product and passion but not a clear marketing plan. Unfortunately passion and a quality product were not enough. Now as I set off on a new business venture and read Jody Hornor's book I realize the mistakes that were made. Jody Hornor's book Power Marketing has helped me develop clear and concise marketing goals. Her hands on approach with direct activities have pushed me to focus in on and develop my marketing plan. The worksheets and activities have clarified what I need to do to increase my business and kept me focused. I found this book to be clear and easy to read with great activities that will get you down to business, your business.

        As a marketing consultant feel I need to read current information to stay on the leading edge of my industry. I average two business books per month. Power Marketing by Jody Horner has stayed my primary resource marketing for several years. This is a handbook and not just a book of theories and ideas. When I use this book I know I have a specific path to move ahead with.

        I would highly recommend this book to any entrepreneur who is looking for a step-by-step procedure that will take them through the process of marketing and promoting their business. I wanted to have more control over how my business was being marketed. I found the workbook to be filled with the answers I need to make more informed choices. The worksheets were very helpful and kept me focused. I continue to use many of the elements in this book when I create promotional pieces.

        Hornor's book is full of useful information and, importantly, 'how-to' stuff. Want to know how to track your ad's effectiveness? Get accurate print bids? Create your 'unique selling proposition?' You'll find it here. As a professional communicator (writer, speaker, PR professional) for 20 years it's the most comprehensive, concisely written and, instantly useful that I've read. If I had read it when I began my business I could have cut my learning curve at least in half. You still can.
