Book Description
New York Times #1 bestselling author and psychic Sylvia Browne and her son explain for pet owners of all ages what animals experience when their life on earth is over and what is waiting for them when they return home to the other side. Popular questions such as Does my pet miss me? Did he know I loved him? Can he hear me when I talk to him? Can he come back to visit me? and How will I be able to find my pet when I go home? are answered. The story begins when the spirit of Browne's dog, Jolie, leaves her body and goes home to live on the other side. Jolie runs, jumps, and plays with her eternal friends all around the world, devoid of the pain and suffering she was experiencing on earth. This is a comforting account of a pet's journey through one life and on to the next that explains how animals enjoy eternal happiness right alongside the people who love them.

I actually gave this book as a gift. My kids and my Neices loved it... They found it very conforting.
Animals on the Other Side.......2007-08-07
This book is a picture book of which 7\8ths are illustrations and 1\8th is text. It is 14 pages long and took me 5 minutes to read. Had I known what it was I would not have purchased it unless it was on the dollar table. There was a bit of information and I do find Sylvias books about the other side to be deeply interesting however this one was disappointing for the price. Oh well, they got my money.
ANIMALS ON THE OTHER SIDE.......2007-07-17
THIS BOOK GAVE ME THE PEACE OF MIND I NEEDED TO ASSURE ME THATMY BELOVED COMPANION IS HAVING THE TIME OF HIS LIFE.
Very Disappointed.......2007-07-15
I was really looking forward to reading this book, especially being from Sylvia Browne. I was very disappointed. It only took about three minutes to go through this book. It was nothing like what I expected. Sylvia tells the audience that anyone with pets need to get this book, she should tell them it is more for children. Pictures were nice, didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. I feel I just threw my money away by buying this book. I should have read the ratings before buying it, I felt since Sylvia wrote it that it had to be worth buying. My cat was very ill and I was looking for something that would help me through her passing. Unfortunately this book wasn't it.
ANIMALS ON THE OTHER SIDE.......2007-07-05
A joy to read. Anyone who is interested in Sylvia Browne (and the "afterlife" will find this delightful.
Book Description
The most hilarious, whimsical outdoor moments captured on film, from twenty-five years of living Outside.
Short of near disaster or the sublime, what are our most memorable outdoor moments made of? The totally surprising, sometimes bizarre oddball moments that catch our psyches off guard and strike our funny bones to the core. Call it the wild side factor.
The editors of Outside proudly present outstanding images gleaned from 300 issues of their back-page "Parting Shots" photo feature. It's their way of celebrating the pratfalls and singular coincidences of an outdoor lifethe comic circumstances of relatively tame mammals (us) spending more and more time closer and closer to large, wild animals. These images are a rare chance to look into the wide world outside and laugh at both ourselves and that infinitely wondrous, entertaining three-ring circus we call the universe. 67 four-color photographs.
Customer Reviews:
Epic laughs ensue.......2005-04-22
This is a collection of photos from the "Parting Shot" page of Outside Magazine. Each of the photos is real, and works with the themes of Outside Magazine. (It's an outdoor adventure magazine. So expect extreme sports, animals, and a quirky look at stuff.)
Even if you never look at Outside Magazine, and even if you'll never think of yourself as an outdoor adventurer, these are wonderful pictures. Visitors grab it and giggle just as they do with our collection of Charles Addams cartoons -- and for much the same reason. These photographs run the gamut from beautiful to frightening to charming, but most are laugh-out-loud funny.
The reprints are a high enough quality that you can count on leaving this book out for years of enjoyment. Bring a smile to your face, and look at this book. Give a smile, and show someone else this book.
Captivating Moments of Beauty and Silliness.......2004-04-30
'The Polar Bear Waltz' is a wonderful book taken from the best of the popular "Parting Shot" feature in 'Outside' magazine, which monthly showcases a wild, wonderful, beautiful, funny, or just plain quirky shot taken by a top rate nature photographer.
The book contains a brief introduction and the remainder is the beautiful photographs, with photography information yet no captions to allow the reader to mentally construct their own. The photos are breathtaking, many involving animals, many human interest shots, or even an occasional landscape. My favorites have to be the 'polar bear waltz' photo by Frans Lanting in Hudson Bay, Canada (p.77), the 'smiling saguaro' by Joe McDonald taken in Arizona (p. 79), the 'north pole' shot by Per Breihagen (pp. 72-73), and the 'whimsical ostrich' shot by Kevin Horan taken in Addington, Oklahoma (p.45). All of the shots in this book are great, but perhaps the most touching is the photo from Mount Elbert, Colorado by Dave Showalter on September 16, 2001 (p.96), surely one of the most inspiring photographs I have ever seen.
This is a beautiful and affordable book of some of the most truly amazing and stunning, sometimes playful, sometimes serious, but always magnificent photographs that I have ever seen. I recommend it to anyone.
mostly human.......2004-01-01
Althou there are some "silly" animal shots, most are humans, especially skier and other atheletes. Don't buy it for the animal lover.
Great pictures, and funny too.......2003-01-03
I bought this book for my brother for Christmas. After he opened it, it went around the whole house and everyone loved the pictures. This is a great coffee table book and one that can be enjoyed over and over.
How to stuff a wild stocking.......2002-11-30
Simply a great gift book for anyone who loves wild places, adventure, the absurdity of life, and a good laugh.

WHAT A PLEASURE TO READ THIS ONE!.......2007-05-07
I like books of fantasy for kids. I feel they are important. Most children love a good, rousing story, including 63 year old ones like myself, and getting the young ones to read is getting more and more difficult each year. This wonderful little story is bound to grab any kid of any age and keep him going from front to back.
The story is a quest story whose setting is the world of Terramore. This world is inhabited by a wonderful assortment of creatures, from toads, to frogs to foxes, snakes, lizards, insects of all sorts and some critters I am not real sure about. Our hero, Frawg Findig III, a very special frog in many ways, finds himself caught up in an adventure, an adventure, which must be had in order to save their world. We already have plenty of plot summaries here, so I will not dwell on that further.
The book is quite well written. J. Lynon Layden's prose approaches lyrical at times here, and once you catch on to his syntax, you will find it delightful. His imagination has created and entire world, an alien world to be sure, yet one that is not as alien as you might think at first glance...it is all around us. For such a short story, his character development is quite remarkable and he is able to convey the characteristics of his characters using very few, but very effective words. I like that. The poetry sprinkled here and there throughout the book is absolutely delightful, some being more song than poetry.
The illustrations by Kenny Savage are in black and white and are quite effective and detailed. They are actually a delight to the eye. I would have liked to have seen them in color as I feel they would have been beautiful, but suspect this would have been cost prohibitive in the production of the book.
As a retired person, needing something to keep me from being underfoot all the time, I do a tremendous amount of substitute teaching at local school. I took this book with me and "forced" a number of the young folks to read at least the first two chapters, and indeed read them to the entire class on several occasions. There was not one student that did not want more. This of course is the ultimate test for this genre...do the kids like it and will they read it. If response here is any indication, the answer is a yes for this book.
I do hope we get more of Frawg from this author and this illustrator. This work is a joy to read but it does leave you with wanting more. Highly recommend this one.

An excellent children's fantasy tale........2007-04-07
I don't get many children's fantasy books to review, and I am not by any means an authority on this genre; however, I did read the book and can recommend it as enjoyable family reading material.
The Other Side of Yore is an enchanting adventure story about Frawg's journey with his friends into Mudgunkland to save the world of Terramore from destruction by Cobraxas, a snake. All the flowers are dying, poisoned by the green smoke from the dark swamps, and the good King's daughter, Princess Lilypad, has fallen into a deep sleep.
Included in this story are thirteen artfully illustrated drawings by Kenny Savage, plus poems, riddles and songs to delight children of all ages.
It is a delightful story-well-edited and designed-which I'm sure children will enjoy. Joseph Layden has been writing professionally for over ten years as a freelance journalist. The Other Side of Yore is his debut Children's Fantasy novel, and I wish he and Kenny much success in their creative efforts.
Adentures for you and Yore children.......2007-03-26
Such imagination and thought went into this book. I read it to my three children (4, 8, and 12) who could not wait for the next reading session. I also looked forward to seeing how the story would unfold. There are also many excellent illustrations that added to the experience. Great positive message is a bonus. This is not just a book to read to children but also one adults can enjoy!
The Other Side of Yore.......2007-03-12
What a great book! The adventure keeps my grandchild asking me to read, "Just a little while longer". It also teaches children to believe in themselves! I hope there is a continuation of the excitement in another book!

WHAT IS LATENT DEMAND AND THE P.I.E.?
The concept of latent demand is rather subtle. The term latent typically refers to something that is dormant, not observable, or not yet realized. Demand is the notion of an economic quantity that a target population or market requires under different assumptions of price, quality, and distribution, among other factors. Latent demand, therefore, is commonly defined by economists as the industry earnings of a market when that market becomes accessible and attractive to serve by competing firms. It is a measure, therefore, of potential industry earnings (P.I.E.) or total revenues (not profit) if a market is served in an efficient manner. It is typically expressed as the total revenues potentially extracted by firms. The “market” is defined at a given level in the value chain. There can be latent demand at the retail level, at the wholesale level, the manufacturing level, and the raw materials level (the P.I.E. of higher levels of the value chain being always smaller than the P.I.E. of levels at lower levels of the same value chain, assuming all levels maintain minimum profitability).
The latent demand for finished and unfinished calf, sheep, lamb, and other animal leathers excluding cattle hide and kip side is not actual or historic sales. Nor is latent demand future sales. In fact, latent demand can be lower either lower or higher than actual sales if a market is inefficient (i.e., not representative of relatively competitive levels). Inefficiencies arise from a number of factors, including the lack of international openness, cultural barriers to consumption, regulations, and cartel-like behavior on the part of firms. In general, however, latent demand is typically larger than actual sales in a country market.
For reasons discussed later, this report does not consider the notion of “unit quantities”, only total latent revenues (i.e., a calculation of price times quantity is never m
Product Description
This report was created for global strategic planners who cannot be content with traditional methods of segmenting world markets. With the advent of a “borderless world”, cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. It then ranks these cities and reports them in terms of their size as a percent of the country where they are located, their geographic region (e.g. Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Latin America), and the total world market. In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have been occasionally asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services across cities. The purpose of the studies is to understand the density of demand within a country and the extent to which a city might be used as a point of distribution within its region. From an economic perspective, however, a city does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries. To an economist or strategic planner, a city represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This influence varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another. In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for the world\'s major cities for "finished and unfinished calf, sheep, lamb, and other animal leathers excluding cattle hide and kip side" for the year 2007. The goal of this report is to report my findings on the real economic potential, or what an economist calls the latent demand, represented by a city when defined as an area of dominant influence. The reader needs to realize that latent demand may or may not represent real sales. For many items, latent demand is clearly observable in sales, as in the case for food or housing items. Consider, however, the category "satellite launch vehicles". Clearly, there are no launch pads in most cities of the world. However, the core benefit of the vehicles (e.g. telecommunications, etc.) is "consumed" by residents or industries within the world\'s cities. Without certain cities, in other words, the market for satellite launch vehicles would be lower for the world in general. One needs to allocate, therefore, a portion of the worldwide economic demand for launch vehicles to both regions and cities. This report takes the broader definition and considers, therefore, a city as a part of the global market.
Product Description
This study covers the world outlook for finished and unfinished calf, sheep, lamb, and other animal leathers excluding cattle hide and kip side across more than 200 countries. For each year reported, estimates are given for the latent demand, or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.), for the country in question (in millions of U.S. dollars), the percent share the country is of the region and of the globe. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a country vis-à-vis others. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each country and across countries, latent demand estimates are created. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved.

Book Description
Spoiled Silk is the story of two immigrants from the Rhineland, William Brueckmann and his wife Katherine, who started a new life in America's first industrial city, Paterson NJ, nourishing a vision of their adopted country that was never to be. Committed to a socialist dream, they struggled to improve the lot of their follow immigrants and, at the same time, to raise a family in the midst of the turbulence that surrounded them. Their efforts contributed in the long run to improved working conditions in American mills, but their dream of a socialist America was never to be realized. It was in 1913 that the workers in the Paterson textile mills, having learned that a new kind of loom would put many of them out of work went on strike against the mill owners. In desperation, they called in Big Bill Haywood and the Wobblies of the I.W.W. to help them. The Paterson authorities moved quickly to crush the strike by forbidding the strikers to hold public meetings. Alone among elected local officials, William Brueckmann, Mayor of the neighboring town of Haledon, defied the Paterson authorities and their police department and upheld the constitutional rights of the strikers by giving them a safe haven in his town. His action marked the beginning of a long and bitter struggle that brought thousands of workers to the open fields of Haledon and forced the city of Paterson to its knees. The strike is an important chapter in the history of the American labor movement. For William and Katherine Brueckmann it did not however, mark the end of their struggles. Spoiled Silk also chronicles the prejudice they had to face during the First World War and the pressures that eventually drove them to compromise with post-war America and its Good Times. It was a compromise that would bring with it a different kind of tragedy and sorrow, the death of an only son and their own drawing apart from one another. The recent interest in immigrants to America has almost overlooked the largest group of immigrants, the German Americans. Spoiled Silk is a moving story about two of them. Vividly told, Spoiled Silk brings to life the experiences of these valiant people in the early decades of the century just past.
