This fact-filled guide plows through the thousands of available sites, winnowing out the Web's most remarkable resources for locating high-caliber job candidates.

Plus, the book supplies an exclusive Cross-Reference Index that pinpoints the best sites for particular occupations, as well as a proven 5-step selection process for maximizing ROI (Return on the Internet). This is indispensable information for corporate and third-party recruiters, from employment managers and human resources practitioners to agency headhunters, staffing firms, and consulting recruiters.
Customer Reviews:
Where It's At.......2001-03-22
This is a bare-bones, fat-free, reference for online jobseekers. If you have a vague sense that a site exists but don't remember its name, you can probably find it here. If you're totally new to the web or online job hunting, this book won't explain it to you. It doesn't evaluate the sites, or even structure the presentation in any meaningful way--the listing is alphabetic. What it lacks in analysis, it makes up in breadth. It's a quick, mostly accurate, overview of 250 job websites.

Thoroughness is questionable.......2000-09-01
Richard Yerema appears to have made a little niche for himself in this field but it seems to me he has gotten a little complacent on how he determines a "Top" employer. I don't have experience across a lot of industries, but in my field - Oil and Gas Companies - the fact that he chose Husky Oil is unbelievable and, in fact, is so bad it colors my opinion of the rest of the book. Everyone who works in the Calgary oil patch knows Husky's reputation as a low paying, demoralizing, old school, top down company. The only way Mr. Yerema could possibly have even considered them was if he simply took what thier HR flaks told him as gospel and never followed up with anyone outside the company. The fact is Husky has not been able to attract any quality talent for over ten years, thier compensation is in the bottom quartile of the industry surveys, Thier goal is "median", thier average age is 5 to 7 years above average. Any cursory investigation should have turned this up and more. If he is this far out of the loop on my industry how close can he be in yours?
Publisher's Response.......2000-08-21
This is a response to the comments of Mr. Kahiel fromStittsville, Ontario. The book is broad because it covers a wide range of industries in cities across Canada. If he is looking for employers in one industry (hi tech) in one area (Ottawa), he should consult a larger directory like "The Career Directory" (1000 employers) or "Who's Hiring 2000" (5000 employers), which both let him target a large number of employers in specific industries and cities.
"Canada's Top 100 Employers" profiles the best places to work in the nation and is intended to highlight best- practices in many industries.
The book has received outstanding reviews from dozens of Canadian newspapers and media outlets. The book was recently #2 on the Globe and Mail's business best-seller's list. END
Very generic........2000-07-30
This book doesn't worth the money... The author made a big mistake by trying to cover all Canada-Wide and all sectors... I found very few employer in the hi-tech capital (Ottawa), and the most important part, the information provided was very basics and very generic. review for 2001 edition

Excellent Resource for Job Hunters!.......2002-01-08
Job hunters nowadays must use the internet in their job search but it can be "needle in a haystack" time if you don't have good reliable navigational tools. Crispin & Mehler have provided a great roadmap in their book Career X Roads. When I was searching last year, I used their book constantly. It's a great help for career coaches too who are helping others to find the right web sources to further their job search.
Careerxroads 2001.......2001-03-14
This is the job hunters bible. For those looking for a new job, this book has it all. Everything you need to find your next job. If you are an employer or recruiter the listings and reviews of hundreds of job sites will help you target your search to find the best candidates.
This is a reference I keep on my desk at all times. I have used it in my job and have used it to find new jobs. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to stay on top of the rapidly changing job market.
Job Seekers and Recruiters Web Bible.......2001-03-12
The latest version of CareerXroads continues to be the definitive source for job seekers and recruiters using the Internet. This outstanding reference enables the reader to determine, quickly without wasting valuable time, which are the best web sites to review for job opportunities and the resumes of qualified candidates. In addition to the directory portion of the book, there are many helpful articles on career management for both the job seeker and the recruiter. Whether you are looking for a new opportunity or searching for the best candidate to fill an open position, don't go on the Web without CareerXroads!
Another Winner.......2001-03-08
Even better than last year's edition.
A thorough reference for anyone interested in advancing their career or anyone in the career management business. Crispin and Mehler review over 500 job, resume and career management sites on the web. In addition, they provide some excellent articles on the subject of career management.
The book is a "must" for anyone in the job market, as well as all Human Resource Professionals.
A Bible for Job Searchers & Recruiters.......2001-03-07
Would you go to the supermarket without a shopping list? Could you board a commercial airplane flight without a ticket? You wouldn't have the gall to attend a wedding without offering a gift, would you? The answer to these questions is a resounding "No, of course not!" Likewise, at least to my mind and experience as a professional recruiter and staffing manager (and sometimes job seeker), it would be folly to engage in a job search or candidate search without first consulting Cripin & Mehler's "CareerXroads". Within its 435 pages, the authors successfully manage to review more than 1500 internet sites that focus on the ever-widening and complex world of jobs, resumes and career management. The authors' research and insights are presented clearly, in relevant and concise language that every reader should find invaluable. The payoff in saved time, effort and increased efficiency is priceless. Every passive or active job seeker and every hiring manager, recruiter or staffing professional should clear space for "CareerXroads" on their bookshelves and refer to it, daily. Read well and prosper.

An annual book that continues to supply invaluable information
The Christian Writers' Market Guide 2001 is not only the most up-to-date marketing resource for Christian writers--it is the only one written exclusively for this specialized market. In addition to the market listings, it is filled with unlimited resources to make the writer's life easier and more focused: greeting card/specialty markets; agents; writer's conferences and groups; editorial services; contests; market analysis; a listing of publishers and publications by denomination or corporate group; publisher's e-mail and Web sites; and a large section of resources for writers--many online. This guide has become indispensible to beginning and advanced writers, full-time freelancers, agents, editors, publishers, publicists, and writing classes.
Customer Reviews:
A good reference........2007-08-09
This has everything I need to know from front to back. I even emailed the author a question and got a reply almost immediately!
Christian Writer's Market Guide.......2002-07-23
As a Pastor and a writer, I recommend this book wholeheartidly. This isn't "The Guaranteed to get published Christian Writer's Market Guide" for those of you who are confused. It is a very comprehensive work of suberb, and I would imagine, painstaking detail that Sally has gathered from various Publishing Houses, Periodicals, Writer's groups, Literary Agents and the Likes. It is a much needed resource for any serious Christian Writer. It is a "tool" to help us unlock the doors into the very competitive publishing industry, which changes by the day. Sally even gives updates to the market in her monthly column "Write Markets" found in the "Christian Communicator." This book is essential and is worth every cent. Sometimes just browsing through the pages gives me motivation to keep on writing and see the Gospel proclaimed in as many ways as I can.

Unreliable, unfortunately.......2002-05-24
Well, I wish I could back this book 100%, but I can't.
I've found the information in it very unreliable. For example, one publisher I contacted turned out to be a vanity press, although Sally Stuart didn't identify them as such. In addition, I found many agents that were listed had either moved or were no longer in business. Perhaps the book needs to be updated more regularly?
I have yet to discover a solid publisher or agent through this book that isn't listed in the Writer's Market.
On Top of the Market.......2001-06-19
Sally Stuart continues to provide complete and necessary information for any writer looking to be published in the Christian marketplace. If that's your market, buy this book.
Itemized and thorough, readers of the Writer's Digest writer's markets will not be disappointed. Cross referenced ministry... have a seemingly obscure niche article? She has created a section outlining the niches, listing the publications which serve them.
It is well-edited and cleanly laid out.
Useful would be this book on a searchable CD. The book lacks bigtime here. I want to search all publications publishing poetry, and have the results returned in one area. It takes a long time to thumb through and read each one. I'd like to search all the poetry publishers which pay for the poems... you can see how this would be handy. Maybe next year.
Having held out to buy a new edition, I suffered using a 1999 version. Editors, publications change locations and needs. I acquired far too many rejection slips and returned mail for delaying my purchase of this new edition. Don't make the same mistake!
I fully recommend this book.
For Christian writers seeking publication.......2001-04-29
Now in a fully updated and expanded sixteenth edition, Sally Stuart's Christian Writers' Market Guide continues to be a complete and accurate reference guide and resource for Christian writers seeking publication. It is the only guide written exclusively for the Christian market and includes websites, publisher email address-es, and guidelines for novice writers seeking to break out into print. The Christian Writers' Market Guide is an indispensable, essential resource for becoming published within the Christian community.

Book Description
Whether an executive is seeking a position at a microbrewery or SAP software consulting firm, The Directory of Executive Recruiters has the contacts who can make or break a job search. Known to insiders since 1971 as the "Red Book," the 2000 edition contains detailed information on over 13,000 recruiters at more than 6,100 offices in North America. Executives can easily identify recruiters who can best match their skills and interests to open positions using the extensive indexes: industries, functional expertise, geographic locations and individual recruiter specialties (552 areas). Includes free CD-ROM with advice on working with recruiters.
Customer Reviews:
Most comprehensive on the market.......2001-12-12
Pro: There are some outdated information or errors, but livable as this directory is the most comprehensive in the market.
Con: However, a time savings database requires a steep ($). Otherwise it deserves 5 stars.
Not good in a bad economy.......2001-11-07
If the economy is bad, this book does not help a lot. Because companies do not use headhunters as much. But as soon as the economy comes back, I would buy the latest version again....
great resource for changing careers.......2001-07-24
I've used this book a few times and know many execs who regularly use it to keep headhunters up to date with their resume. Half of the pages are indexes to you can find recruiters by where they are, what industry they cover, or what function (finance, marketing etc.) The most useful index is the one with hundreds of different detailed specialties for the headhunters. Basically the way to use this book is to contact recruiters who specialize in what you do. Don't expect hundreds of replies: they only call if and when they have a match, and your resume needs to be word perfect. But it only takes one offer! Another useful thing is they list "contingency recruiters" separately - these are more useful for technical and mid-level jobs around $50-75k. Definitely use the current year's book to avoid wasting time on old addresses, like the other reviewer said. Best used in conjunction with a resume-writing advice book.
Comprehensive but Dated Data on Executive Recruiters.......2001-06-11
It's pretty obvious Kennedy put a bunch of time into the collection of recruiter information. Even still, the phone and fax numbers had a ridiculous number of errors. The time it took to backtrack the errors made for frustrating hours of work. Let's just say the whole experience was marginal.
Executive search information in printed form might not be able to keep up with evolving data.
Get it when it first comes out next year or not at all.
The Directory of Executive Recruiters.......2001-02-15
This is the bible of executive recruiters... It breaks the recruiters by location, retained versus contingency, as well as industry specific. Very helpful and up to date.

Book Description
Newnes Linear IC Pocket Book is aimed at all engineers, technicians, students and experimenters who can build a design directly from a circuit diagram. In a highly concise form Ray Marston presents a huge compendium of circuits that can be built as they appear, adapted or used as building blocks. The devices used have been carefully chosen for their ease of availability and reasonable price. The selection of devices has been thoroughly reviewed for the second edition, which contains approximately 350 new diagrams.
Marston deals mainly with strictly-linear ICs such as op-amps, pre-amplifiers, power amplifiers, signal-conditioners and power supply regulators, as well as various hybrid types: the 555 timer IC, bar-graph display drivers, CCD delay lines, function or wave form generators, phase-locked loops and power control ICs. The subjects are treated in an easy-to-read, highly practical manner with a minimum of mathematics.
Ray Marston has proved, through hundreds of circuits articles and books, that he is one of the world's leading circuit designers and writers. He has written extensively for Electronics World, Nuts and Bolts, Electronics and Beyond, Popular Electronics, Electronics Now, Electronics Today International, and Electronics Australia, amongst others.
All parts readily available from major suppliers.
Packed with ready-to-build circuit designs.
Handy reference for hobbyists, students and circuit designers.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent Book In Series of Several.......2006-02-26
I have been involved with electronics as a hobbyist for over thirty years on and off. I own a book from 1985 authored by Mr. Marston. I still read it for his clear, concise and straightforward format. I purchased another book in this current series, 'Passive and Discrete Circuits' from Newnes Pocket Books-Electronics Circuits Pocket Book. It is a small format but it is justified when you see the volume of information contained. You can delve into theory of operation or just build some circuits knowing you have the info to modify, expand and create more complex circuits. If this book was in a larger format it would probably sell for fifty dollars. The size itself I find an asset. It is easily taken with you to read anywhere and has a tough cover to protect it's contents. Truly one of the best electronic books I have purchased at Amazon. The 'Linear IC' book in the series has slightly larger print than that of 'Passive and Discrete Circuits'. I am so impressed with this format from Newnes and the author; I also ordered the other volume in the series 'Digital Logic IC Pocket Book'
Mr. Marston offers a good mix of circuits and theory. If your just looking for circuits to build and move on, your better off with some of the Forrest Mimms's books. If your looking for circuits to build with the info available to modify and design for yourself this is a better purchase.
