Book Description
The Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH) has come a long way since its first edition in the 1940s--replete with positions fueled by a wartime economy. One thing has not changed, however: for more than 50 years, the OOH has been respected as the job seeker's number one source of critical decision-making information. From aerospace engineer to water treatment plant operator, the latest edition spans more than 250 occupations, encompassing nearly 90 percent of the jobs in the U.S. economy.
The most current source of government statistics on jobs and job opportunities, the Occupational Outlook Handbook organizes a vast amount of data.
Customer Reviews:
Very good book.......2002-12-11
Although I haven't read this book in print form, I have read it online for free. It's very authoritative and full of information. The only problem I have is that it lacks subjectivity: doesn't tell you the "problems" a certain career might have or its workload.
In conclusion, every student or non-student who's just looking for a different career path will benefit from the info in this book.
Ideal reference for perosnal job and career research........2000-05-04
In its Occupational Outlook Handbook 2000-2001, The U.S. Department of Labor provides exhaustive, accurate, up-to-date information on all major jobs and occupations in the United States. This easy to use, authoritative, and definitive reference offers the most useful database of information on jobs and salaries available today. All jobs are arranged into logical clusters, making it simple to find a given occupation. The descriptions are clearly written and replete with pertinent and useful information on skills, pay, working conditions, training, educational prerequisites and more. Occupational Outlook Handbook 2000-2001 is an essential, core reference title for school and community job center counseling, and ideal for personal job and career research.
A big help.......1999-07-27
It's definitely a good book to have, if anything because it's very clearly cross-referenced. I got a lot out of it, and have been lending it out to a lot of my friends. VaultReports publishes similar stuff which is also pretty good.
this book was a necesity for finding a job.......1999-03-01
it helped me learn about meteorolog
The classic career planning resource........1998-04-14
Published every two years by the U.S. Dept. of Labor. The resource used by more career counselors than any other. Good, basic occupational information on hundreds of jobs covering over 90% of the workforce.

2002 Jobs, Careers, Occupations, and Professions in America: 2002-2003 Occupational Outlook Handbook, Official Government Job and Career Guidebook for All Workers
U.S. Government Department of Labor
Manufacturer: Progressive Management
ProductGroup: Book
Binding: CD-ROM
ASIN: 1931828423 |
Book Description
This electronic book on CD-ROM provides a complete reproduction of the Occupational Outlook Handbook for 2002 - 2003, along with 17 additional Labor Department wage and employment reports. The Occupational Outlook Handbook, published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (U.S. Department of Labor) in early 2002, has been a nationally recognized source of career information for more than 50 years. Since the early 1990s, the Career Guide to Industries (included on this disc) has been a companion publication. They provide comprehensive, up-to-date, and reliable labor market information that has helped millions of Americans plan their future work lives. The 2002-03 editions will help guide workers in this new century, presenting essential information about prospective changes in the workplace and the qualifications that will be needed by tomorrow's workforce. The Occupational Outlook Handbook and the Career Guide to Industries can assist students as well as experienced workers, including those seeking to change careers or re-enter the labor force.
The Occupational Outlook Handbook provides detailed information on hundreds of occupations, covering nearly 90 percent of the jobs in the economy. Occupations covered include management, professional, service, sales, administrative support, farming, construction, installation, production, transportation, and armed forces. The nature of the work and the typical working conditions for persons in each occupation are discussed, in addition to the requirements for entry and opportunities for advancement. This information can be helpful in making career decisions that utilize completed education and training. For each occupation, the Handbook begins with a section that highlights key occupational characteristics and includes sections with current information on earnings, employment of salaried and self-employed workers, related occupations, and sources of additional information. The projected employment change relative to overall growth projected for all occupations over the next decade is described and, in some cases, the ease or difficulty of finding a job.
Occupational coverage in the 2002-03 edition of the Handbook is the first to incorporate the 2000 Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system, the Federal Government's latest universal occupational classification system. This disc provides the complete SOC and related SIC code lists of occupations and industries.
Our disc adds even more value to the basic Handbook by providing reproductions of the Occupational Outlook Quarterly and comprehensive tables listing estimated wages for every classified occupation in every region of the country! You can compare wages across regions or occupations with this unique data.
This book-on-a-disc makes a superb reference work for all Americans, and will be especially valuable for students, libraries, schools, and home reference! (This disc is the same as IBSN 1- 931828-37-7.)
Our CD-ROMs are designed to provide a convenient user-friendly general reference work, utilizing the benefits of the Adobe Acrobat format to uniformly present thousands of pages that can be rapidly reviewed or printed without untold hours of tedious searching and downloading. Vast archives of important government information that might otherwise remain inaccessible are available for instant review. The documents are reproduced using Adobe Acrobat PDF software - allowing direct viewing on Windows and Apple Macintosh systems. Reader software is included on the CD.

Concentration How to review focus for success.......2006-03-20
Lacked any detail and was extremely basic. Ideas were more common sense and offered little for those who want to take concentration skills to a higher level.
This book was more for students.
An essential skill.......2002-12-10
I recently took a three-hour class from Sam Horn on concentration and immediately began to feel the benefits in my life. I haven't read the book, but no doubt it conveys the same valuable information about this essential life skill. I only wish I'd come across Sam Horn and her wise and insightful teaching much sooner!
You HAVE to read this book!.......2001-07-02
One of the most important skills necessary for success today is the ability to focus and prioritize. This book helps you to do just that! Workbook style makes the lessons easy to follow and apply. This should be required reading for anyone -- everyone --in the sixth grade on up.

Featuring 20 computer-intensive careers.......2001-09-18
Ferguson Publishing's new Discovering Careers For Your Future: Computers is the latest entry in a truly excellent, "reader friendly" children's series: "Discovering Careers for Your Future". Three other volumes in this fine collection deal with careers in Art (0894343882), Constructions (0894343904), and History (0894343912). This particular volume focuses on careers involving computers - and in today's age, nearly every well-paying task requires at least a passing familiarity with a word processing program! Featuring 20 computer-intensive careers, with complete job descriptions, including salary ranges, job outlook, and educational requirements, Discovering Careers For Your Future: Computers shows all and tells all for inquiring young minds. The entire series is very highly recommended for students grades 3 through 6.

Customer Reviews:
I buy the book for others!.......1997-07-23
The Internet is a great, illustrated guide to using the Internet. It covers every major piece of software from web browsers, to email programs, news, ftp and more. Most important, it doesn't explain each function of the software, as a manual does, and it avoids the long-winded explainations and anecdotes a Dummies book includes. To the point and very effective. I can't find it at my Borders store, so I order one here for each of my clients. (We are an Internet marketing agency...most clients are new to the web.
