Cram 101 is NOT the text and is a total scam.......2007-02-03
Don't waste your money buying this so-called study guide. The vocabulary lists barley match the key words from the text book and the definitions are wrong. For example, for the key word "receiver," it says it is someone involved in a monetary transaction. This is a text on managerial communication-- not finance. The "receiver" is the person who is listening to the message being communicated. The definitions are out of context and probably computer generated. There are plenty of examples like this. I was so frustrated, I threw mine away. You are better off taking your own notes.
Also, I know that it says in the fine print that it is not the textbook, but I think that should be made even more obvious in the title. It is misleading.

I'm just an ordinary college student, forced to buy this over-priced book for a course I am taking. The content of this text book may be great but for the [$$$] price tag, I think I should get more. How about review questions at the end of each chapter? How hard would that have been? Could you maybe have bothered to highlight key terms?

At first it was the author's intention to elucidate the character of the different gifts enumerated by St. Paul, as understood by eminent commentators and writers on the Bible; and then to have shown how they are viewed by Christian Spiritualists; but this design was found to be of such magnitude that the limits of this work would not admit of it. For this reason, the design was abandoned, and he now presents the simple texts, and, with few exceptions, does not quote Church authorities upon them, nor attempt any extended inquiries, but accept their meaning in the light that modern Spiritualism views them. This renders the plan of the work more simple; less controversial; and the author believes it will prove more acceptable to the general reader.

Dr. Zaremba has written a book that truly explains Organizational Communication. This book will not only aid the reader in understanding what Organizational Communication is, but has the potential to make the reader a better manager and worker.
As a student of Organizational Communication I would reccommend this book to anyone studing or even interested in learning more.
Complicated Topic Better Understood.......2000-04-07
Dr. Zaremba's explanation of organizational communication was easy to follow and understand. For those not familiar with this topic, it offers a great introduction to real life corporate situations and how to handle them. The book covers topics such upward and downward networks and relationships between co workers and their employers. The book was a tremdous help for a communication course I was taking at the time, and I highly recommend it for any corporate professional.

I have used this book in a couple job searchers in the past 3 years and have always found it helpful. The concise advice and easy to read layout make it a good tool for refreshing you on the job hunt. I think if you're a first time job hunter then maybe get What color is your parachute, but this book will be an excellent refresher and quick read for those of us who have done this a few times.
I especially liked the examples of thank you letters and the interviewing section was the most helpful for me!

I checked two books out of the library on how to search for a job, and this was definitely the poorer book. I recommend you get The Unwritten Rules of the Highly Effective Job Search: The Proven Program Used by the Worlds Leading Career Services Company instead. It is a much better book and really helped me get my job search rolling.

I loved the book. I was always afraid b/c I knew I wasn't prepared and had no idea how to prepare. I was very good at collecting information on what to do, but not so good on doing it. It was very overwhelming. 10 Insider Secrets to a Winning Job Search helped me not only be better prepared and knowledgeable, but it was done in a very organized, step-by-step manner, which I needed, to keep me from getting overwhelmed and quitting. During my job search, I did all the common job search strategies, like posting my resume on job search boards, submitting my resume in response to the classified ads in the newspaper and asking your parents for a job within the company. Excellent Roadmap.......2004-02-17
I found this book to be a tremendous roadmap to finding my ideal job. This is the first job-hunting book I have seen that gives you the total package from getting motivated to writing resumes to answering the toughest interview questions.
Granted some of the information is basic, however I found that I wasn't doing some of the basic things this book suggested. I think this book far surpassed Parachute and some of the others I have read. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a new job.

This book is a very quick read, just a couple of hours. It is mostly motivational with little of substance. Most of the book is simple common sense. His top **Insider** places to find job opportunities are the newspaper and Internet job sites. Wow, hadn't thought of those.
Skip this one and find something better.

this book is great as a motivational tool that can be read in a matter of hours but that's about as far as its success will take you. If you truly want to feel prepared for an interview and only want to spend money on one book I wouldn't recomend this one. Instead take a little more time and read The Complete Idiot's Guide to the Perfect Interview, so-so title when it comes to ego but much more informative for your unemployed buck.

Pretty Useless.......2007-05-12
I purchased this along with Todd Bermont's '10 Insider Secrets to a Winning Job Search'. While I highly recommend the book (lots of helpful job hunting information all in one place), I found that the career transition workshop is pretty useless if you have an idea of what field you are hoping to transition into. The workshop is filled with page upon page of self assessment questions such as 'how would your friends describe you?' and 'what do you enjoy most in life?'. All this self assessment seems for nothing though when the final culmination is to brainstorm the 20 companies you can target when you finally get your act together and start cold calling and sending out resumes (for advice on that you need to buy the book). Throughout the workshop you get to read little snippets of self affirming mumbo jumbo that is meant to help you realize how amazing and special you are. Thanks, Todd!!
Don't bother with this workshop, put the time you'd spend filling out page after page of self assessment to better use.

If you are frustrated in your career or you just don't know what you want to do when you grow up, this book is an ideal resource for you. I have read the Parachute book and others, but I found this little workbook to be the quickest and most effective tool I have seen to help decide what job I really want to work. The book is full of exercises and workshops. The book took me about four hours to fully complete. I found "10 Insider Secrets Career Transition Workshop to be well worth the investment in time, money and effort.

For months, I had been struggling with being laid off and trying to figure out how to re-start my career after being with the same company for over 20 years.
This book was just the medicine I needed. Bermont does a good job of asking thought provoking and insightful questions that make you really think about the situation you are in and the best means to re-capture career satisfaction.
If you want a Myers-Brigg study or a book that tells you your ideal career then this book is not for you. However, if you want a book that will make you dig deep into your passions, interests, and expertise to discover what you really want to do for a living, then I highly recommend this book!
Excellent Roadmap.......2002-11-10
Is this book rocket science? No. However, "10 Insider Secrets Career Transition Workshop" is a great roadmap to making a career change.
The questions asked in the workshop made me think about things I didn't realize were so important in finding a job. It also helped me articulate in my mind what aspects of jobs I enjoyed and what I did not.
Overall, I thought the process the book took me through was just the right medicine I needed in this difficult time of change. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has an ability to look within themselves to bring out the answers that may have been there all along but needed a little prodding to bring out.

This book is a terrible waste of a tremendous amount of money. Halfway through you are asked to make a list of jobs you could do, then pick the ones you like. Hasn't everybody thought of this? If I had any idea as to what kind of careers were available to someone such as myself I wouldn't need a book like this at all. Not only do I wish I had my money back, I'd also like my time back too.
Well Worth The Money!.......2002-06-01
My first reaction when I received this book was..."I paid [money] for this?" At first, I was thinking I got ripped off. However, since I spent the money, I figured I might as well go through the workshop and see what happens.
At first, I was apprehensive about buying it because, I tried the "Parachute" and "Dummy" books, and neither of them gave me the answers and guidance that I needed or wanted. I wasn't sure if buying another book was the answer. But, a friend told me about this workshop so I decided to try it.
While I was reading "10 Insider Secrets(TM) Career Transition Workshop" and doing the exercises, I was shocked at how much I learned about myself. I totally changed my career direction as a result of this workshop. I never realized certain things about myself until I answered the introspective questions that were asked.
It took me about 3 hours to complete. I went to the library and answered every question thoroughly, just like the book said, as if I was sitting across the desk from a career coach costing me thousands of dollars.
This self-paced workshop did a great job in helping me first identify the job I really wanted and then it assisted me in creating a plan on how to obtain it.
In the end, I discovered that in some respects I was totally focused on the wrong things and in other respects, I wasn't focused at all. Thanks to this workshop I am now focused in the right direction and psyched about my future. I would recommend "10 Insider Secrets(TM) Career Transition Workshop" to anyone who is unhappy in their current job or anyone who is out of work and wants to find a job they can be excited about.

I worked as an information architect at a web agency. We built great sites but didn't think much about generating traffic. After reading Fredrick's publication, with a litlle sweat and some luck, I was able to go from ground zero to #1 on AOL and Lycos for "Web Marketing" and other keywords on other engines. Within a month my rankings were on the radar screen, after 4 months those mentioned above were achieved, which have since been overtaken by others. Remember it's an on-going process!
This book covers various engines and directories, page elements to focus on for each portal covered, where to submit, how to submit, what to do and not to do to maintain your rankings and avoid spamming the indices. ...there is a lot of basic information in this book, but learning the basics is half the battle.
... You'll get your top rankings honestly if you follow these guidlines. If you have questions email the author, you'll get a reply, and chances are it will be pretty quick.
Search engine strategies, alliances, partnerships, and techologies are always changing.

This is definately the best manual I have seen. No writers bla bla but straight to the point and written in plain uderstandable English. After studying the book I had some questions which I Emailed to them expecting to get an answer the next day as usual. Within 10 minutes I had an answer back from the author himself. I would recommend this manual to everybody who is serious about generating traffice to his site.

The number of people and publications professing to be able to make you a search engine "expert" or "guru" grows every day. More often than not, when I check them out (and I do!) I find them to be more like "snake oil salesmen" then professional internet marketers.

I work very hard for my clients to gain them the kind of "positioning" they need to be successful on the web and with this book I now work smarter and get better results. You wont find trendy "hints" or "secrets" (most often outdated, if they ever worked at all!) in this resource, instead its full of usefull advice and completely honorable NO-SPAM techniques that if properly applied will definately help your bottom line. The book is clear, consice and to the point. With a little effort on your part, you should be marketing your business like the pros' in no time.
As if all of this was not enough, I needed a little clarification on a point in the book and e-mailed the author from their site...I had a reply to my e-mail within 48hrs!
