As an accompaniment to the excellent Students' Book, this is a must buy for any Business English teacher, who, let's be honest, probably knew/cared little/nothing for/about Macro/Micro Economics before entering his/her current profession. Broken down into four sections: Management; Production and marketing; Finance; Economics with four assessment tests, this upper-intermediate to advanced level reading, speaking, listening and writing course Teacher's Book provides (as well as priceless answers) much needed guidance on getting optimum value from the included materials.

4 out of 5 stars Essential for ESL instructors teaching business courses.......1997-12-11

This book [and separate tape are] essential for ESL/EFL teachers who teach intermediate or advanced communications courses. Each chapter focuses on a business theme such as negotiation, business meetings, telephoning. The tapes are slow for learners above an intermediate level; however, the speaking activities can easily be used by both intermediate and advanced learners. One good aspect of the tapes is the British Accents which makes a nice contrast to my North American accent for learners in EFL situations. You can even stretch certain exercises into writing exercises. However, the book lacks any structured grammar lessons. At an intermediate level in some contexts you might find the book a bit thin because of this. The teachers guide is unfortunately essential because you often can't complete exercises without having the companioned instructions. Which means more of a cost outlay for some teachers. This book absolutely cannot be used for self-study or one-on-ones. Nevertheless, it is the best resource I've had for these types of courses so far. Definitely worth investing in.

1 out of 5 stars How To Communicate Better: Mention That You Need The Book.......2001-05-10

This CD is a companion piece to a BOOK on communicating in business. With the book I am sure it would be quite useful but that is not included with this pricey CD set. Here is a sample of how each track is prefaced:

"Unit 8, Practice 1, Page 68. Listen to a model presentation based on the notes in your book."

This was a randomly chosen example. The track chosen was the second CD, second track.

While I can not adequately judge the quality of the combined CD and book without the book it appears to be a useful set. The set is a fairly basic introduction to professional communications targeted at the newly employed, professionals to whom English is a second language and students.

Great emphasis is also placed on developing listening skills. The course is in colour and accompanied by a Teacher's Book and a set of two Audio Cassettes or Audio CDs.

                    Description:
This paper examines the implications for future railway policy for sustainable transport access at tourism destinations in the South West of England, drawing on a case study of the St Ives Bay Line in Cornwall. The paper considers the diversity of passenger behaviour and attitudes amongst tourist and leisure visitors. It sets the research findings in the context of future railway policy, specifically Community Rail Development and the Greater Western Franchise for South West England. In doing so it questions whether current transport policies are sufficient in scope to address the complexities of visitor travel on such branch lines.

                      Book Description

This digital document is a journal article from Tourism Management, published by Elsevier in 2007. The article is delivered in HTML format and is available in your Amazon.com Media Library immediately after purchase. You can view it with any web browser.

                      Description:
The fragmented nature of the tourism industry requires a substantial degree of coordination and collaboration among the variety of different players in destination marketing. However, the studies on partnerships and collaboration have taken very narrow perspectives of cooperation relationships and therefore, none of them individually can explain the nature of marketing alliances and networks among tourism organizations. Based upon the results of previous research and a case study of Elkhart County, Indiana, this paper proposes a more integrative theoretical framework in an attempt to better describe and explain the nature and dynamism of collaborative destination marketing. The implications of this framework are provided from both practical and theoretical perspectives.

                            Description:
Individual behaviour relates to the ecological structure or identity of places. In this study, we investigated the relationship between the space-time ecologies of different types of visitor population environment in the Netherlands and destination choice. Multinomial logistic regression modelling for car users was applied to determine the relative importance of various personal and household attributes on choosing for a particular purpose a particular type of visitor population environment during a particular time period of the day. The attributes with the strongest link to the space-time ecologies of destination environments proved to be age, educational level, car ownership, and household income and type.
