Book Description

Real people, real transformations!

"Absolutely amazing! It completely shifts your paradigm for life. One of the most wonderful things about it is that the results are immediate. My whole perception and relationship to money has undergone a major, substantial change."
—Chris Attwood, writer and teacher, California

"I've spent most of my life trying to figure out what's true and what's real. I have to say I now have a clear glimpse into what it really is."
—Tom Hill, Colorado

"Before Busting Loose from The Money Game, I was very unhappy and frustrated in my life. I was driven to find more ways to make money. I changed jobs, cities, countries, went back to school, read books. Financially, the stress was causing anxiety attacks and migraines so severe I stayed in bed. The joy I feel now is priceless. Money is there when I need it, in the amount that's needed, no matter what occurs (car repairs, unplanned trips, etc.). It's absolutely amazing!"
—Suresh Thakoor, Texas

"As a retired professor on a fixed and limited income, I always lived from a tight budget and felt compressed by it-especially at the end of the year. I don't use a budget anymore and have opened up new streams of income that were always closed to me in the past."
—Howard Rovics, Connecticut

"It opened a whole new dimension for me and shifted my perspective on life completely. I especially love how practical it is. The application is so simple, so effective . . . and fun!"
—Doris Kahle, Hagen, Germany

"I'd had a lot of success in the corporate arena, made a ridiculous amount of money and lost a ridiculous amount of money. But I was caught in a cycle of making it, losing it. I needed to break that cycle-for myself and my family-and this gave me the keys to do that. Busting Loose from The Money Game opened a window I had no clue even existed. This is very cutting-edge, a revolutionary approach to unwrapping yourself from limitations. If you're not satisfied with where you are financially and you're concerned about your future, get this book!"
—Ben Coleman, Texas

1 out of 5 stars not worth your time.......2007-10-06

I am what my friends call money and self help obsessed...so reading this book was no stretch for me. I can honestly say that I have read a lot of books on money, and a lot of books about freeing you mind...and this is the WORST book written on both subjects. I totally wasted my time, please take my advice and don't waste yours. Every chapter left me thinking...WHAT? no seriously what is he talking about? It was worthless and I would never recommend it to anyone.

1 out of 5 stars This book has NOTHING to do with money. Don't waste your time or money.......2007-09-30

This book has nothing to do with money. It is a book full of vain philosophies, none of which are backed with any proof whatsoever. If you are looking for good books on managing money, getting out of debt, or building wealth I would recommend books such as: The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey; Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kyosaki; Multiple Streams of Income by Robert Allen; and Money, What Financial "Experts" Will Never Tell You by Alan Williams, Peter Jeppson, and Sanford Botkins. Also check out the website and resources found at [...].

2 out of 5 stars Is Comfort Important To You?.......2007-09-28

Like others have said, the idea is the world, including the human experience is holographic. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not. I'd save a lot then expect to lose it over the course of a year or more it would take you to cross the mental point where you 'bust loose' and really convince yourself that life and money aren't real. At the very least, do not owe anyone money. I just could not vibe with this book for long. I'd rather save, invest and get stuff I want.

Try the library. I never read it now.

5 out of 5 stars An Amazing Book.......2007-09-20

This is an amazing book that really helps the reader to eliminate the sources of dissatisfaction in his/her life if one is willing to commit to The Process. After just a few short days of using The Process I have had some incredible personal breakthroughs and I eagerly look forward to what else I create within my life experience.

My inspiration to buy this book came largely from the few really negative reviews written on this site. Thank you to all those who shared their fears in the form of attacks against the book and its author. I have been clearly shown again that there is tremendous value in that which stirs up so much emotion as people keep their death grip on obsolete views of the nature of life. The world never was flat just because people believed that to be true, acted as if it were true, and invested their lives in protecting those beliefs.

In the pages of this book you will not find strategies on how to earn more money or to protect what you already think that you have, however you will find a strategy to recover all of the energy and power that you have given to your life situations. As you recover this power you will have the capacity to act more boldly to pursue the unique authentic life that you came here to live.

If you have any inclination to buy the book, just go for it. Then give yourself the gifts of reading it with an open mind and applying its wisdom to your life.

Whether you liked the book or not - HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!

1 out of 5 stars Author FAILS to prove his thesis, to put his money where his mouth is. .......2007-08-19

The author proposes that money is an illusion (agreed)and that you can create all the money you want by fully transcending the illusion. He gives a primitive method to eliminate negative beliefs and emotional charges about money --(Psycanics offers a more precise, faster, less painful and more powerful technique.) The book is well written and interesting, even plausible. The reason I fail the book with 1 star is that, at the end, the author states that it is possible to have an infinite abundance of money (one way is writing "magic" checks that are always good). However, the author apparently has never done this. He says he still has multiple streams of normal income from books and businesses and speaking engagements. Until the author proves his thesis by eliminating all human income sources and actually lives wealthy by the means he proposes, this book is just a FANTASY.

Book Description

Quantum Investing is a book about today's ascendant quantum-physics-based industries, such as communications, biotechnology, and nanotechnology. Author Stephen Waite makes clear why these areas are the most important investment opportunities today and how these industries will have a profound impact on our economy. “Waite nails the big ideas that will create the next revolution. Don't leave the 20th Century without it.” - Christopher Meyer, Director, The Cap Gemini Center for Business Innovation

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Tremendous vision and a bold framework for new ideas.......2004-10-04

Waite lays waste to the idea that the bursting of the NASDAQ bubble was the end of the technology revolution, and instead puts forth the idea that the "emergence" of nanotech (quantum) capabilities mean this is only the beginning. The book makes a compelling case for the non-linear nature of growth in a knowledge based (as opposed to resourse based) economy.

Perhaps, more importantly, Waite introduces the science of complexity and it's framework for understanding complicated systems (as are markets, mutli-celled organisms, weather systems, etc). Complexity theory, developed by the Sante Fe Institute over the last 15 years, is a mechanism by which investors in the modern era can develop a tool kit to read and react to a world of constant change, contagion, evolution and catalytic shock.

This is important stuff; well written, concise and comprehensive. It include both the raw information and the framework with which to manage it. It's a body of knowledge the well equiped investor needs in their arsenal.

2 out of 5 stars Quite disappointed. Not an investment book at all........2003-08-16

Though the authors emphasized that the purpose of the book was to pursue what Munger of Bershire Hathaway preached about the "lattice of models" approach to investing that successful investors should read as much as he could on as many diverse subjects as possible, and that development in Quantum physics would bring 2/3 of the existing 30 DJI stocks out of their places in the index in less than 2 decades. this book was far too repetitive and clumsy in elaborating the same idea of the importance of Quantum Physics. The amateur knowledge and so so writing skill of the authors would drive nearly half of the readers to confusion because they would still have close to nothing clue about Quantum Physics, whilst those who know Quantum Physics would be bored to coma. Perhaps the best part of the book was the definition they quoted from Feynman, that it was the description of the behaviour of matter and light in all its details and, in particular, of the happenings on an atomic scale. Besides that, the whole book read like a product of copy and paste here and there from science journals more than anything else.

Despite the above, the authors were clever at choosing the right facts and figures. Some astounding items include:-

1. The only original DJI stock left behind after a century was General Electric.
2. In 1989, Intel launched i486, a chip that features 1.2 million transistors. In 2001, Intel launched P4 which contains 43 million transistors.
3. In 1997, IBM installed Deep Blue. It could evaluate 200 million chess positions per second, and defeated the world chess champion Gary Kasparov. In 2001, IBM installed ASCI White, which is 1000 times faster than Deep Blue.

In short, this book is far from what the title projects to say. Little is talked about investment at all. The authors could have written a much better book with much fewer words. To make it better, the authors should have written much more on how complexity theory, a branch in Quantum Physics could really help market and investment analysis.

5 out of 5 stars Let's face it folks, this is a deep book........2003-08-14

Let's face it folks, this is a deep book. Spend some time with it - mull it over. It's not People Magazine. The insight it gives us on who we are, and where we are going as a society and an economy is quite profound. We are living today, and have been living for quite some time, in a world driven by quantum discoveries. Tie the threads together - and realize that we're on a spaceship earth that is moving through the universe in surprising ways. "Quantum Investing" opened my eyes.

4 out of 5 stars A Good Read!.......2003-04-11

Author Stephen R. Waite is a Wall Street veteran, but despite its title Quantum Investing is not about investing (the few investor-oriented tips are at the end of each chapter and at the book's conclusion). Rather, it is a futurist manifesto, an infectious, heady hodgepodge of science textbook and thought experiment, which reads like a sequel to Future Shock. Waite takes you on a whirlwind tour of quantum theory, which has enabled astounding technological advances (note the glossary of physics terms and the timeline of relevant scientific developments). He assesses the accounting industry as hopelessly out-of-date when it comes to valuing intangible assets, and offers a thought-provoking discussion of the stock market, chaos theory and complex systems. You'll probably be skeptical of - but intrigued by - the discoveries he predicts for the twenty-first century. We from getAbstract recommend this to executives who are interested in a big-picture treatment of the economic evolution, or who are science (or science-fiction) buffs.

5 out of 5 stars Scientific advances are increasing exponentially.......2003-02-17

Waite presents a fascinating description of how the coming (next 25 years) technological advances will have a tremendous influence on the economy, stock market, and our lives. Businesses must be flexible enough to change with the times, or may not survive. The change in the companies that comprise the Dow Jones Industrual Average changed drastically over the years, and the trend will continue. The majority of stocks currently listed in the Standand & Poors top 500 companies will no longer exist 25 years from now.

The process of creative destruction will allow those companies benefiting from yet-to-be-invented technologies to grow at amazing rates, replacing those business that fail to keep pace. Noting that more welath was created during the past 100 years than in all previous history combined, Waite feels the rate of wealth creation will accelerate, with the next 25 years producing more wealth than was created during the entire 20th century.

The Industrial Revolution was made possible by technologies generated from Newtonian physics, and our future will be enhanced with inventions from quantum based technologies.

      Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars This book is great to help you think about buying a home.......2004-08-08

As noted by other reviewers, you can not buy a house with absolutely no money down. I did find out that it does not take as much as you think it will take. This book helps you really think about your options and what resources you have and how you can get that down payment. Nothing is absolute in financing for a home there are alot of variables for each state and city. So read this book to help you think differently and then ask questions of friends, family and of course those who are work in the housing market you are looking to buy in.

For me this book really helped me to think differently about how to get my down payment and closing cost. I used some ideas and created my own based upon what I learned.

I have owned my own home now for over a year and it has been one of the best things I have ever done. We did an FHA loan and used other sources to secure the downpayment. We did not use our credit cards, which I disagree with the authors about. I bought a great home in a solid neighborhood and the value of the home has already gone up. I am expecting to refinance my home in 2-4 years and see my mortgage go down. This is such a better deal than paying rent :)

4 out of 5 stars Great information, but don't be fooled by the title!.......2004-02-08

As no one had written a review of this book when I purchased it, I bought it based on the title alone; but don't let it fool you. It's not 300 pages on buying a home with little or no money down alone, as I would have thought, and primarily what I bought it for. Most of the chapters are simply about buying a house.

There is helpful and thorough information about figuring out how much house you can afford, credit, tax savings, home owners insurance, mortages, what to look for if inspecting the house yourself, etc. There are also many helpful sample and example forms such as House Closing/Refinance Data and Gift Letters. Also provided are tables that calculate credit ratings, mortages, etc. There are sample lists of what to look for at each viewing and sample tables of how to compare all of the properties. The book is riddled with "Example", "Note", "Caution", and "Tip" asides that help to explain, warn, and advize. Also, at the end of each chapter is a chapter summary, which is nice, because if you're not sure if you need to read the entire chapter or not, you can read the chapter summary first and decide then if you need more information. Each chapter is not set up like a novel either, which is also nice. It's broken down into smaller sections with informative headings so you really don't need to read the entire book to pinpoint the information you want.

One of the most helpful parts of this book is the glossary in the back of the book. We are first time home buyers, and I am not familiar with much of the terminology of home buying, so I found the glossary helpful in understanding what I was reading.

Now to the point of the book, buying a house with little or no money down. There is no "true" way to buy a house with no money down. You still need several thousand dollars in closing fees. There are two chapters in this book about "no" money down. Chapter 7 is called "Mom and Dad (Or a Good Friend) Give the Down Payment" and discusses taxes, shows sample forms to use, and gives tips and examples to help. Chapter 8 is called "Borrow the Downpayment from Family or Friends". This chapter discusses types of loans, interest rates, collateral, security, etc and provides an example of a form you would use if you chose to borrow the money from family or friends.

Chapter 10, "FHA Insured Mortgages", is what I was hoping this book would be all about, because of the title. If you are buying this book soley for information on buying a house with little money down, you will find that this is the most helpful chapter. (In addition to the FHA mortages, the author provides names, numbers, and websites for other agencies to go to that offer 3% or less down payments.) The author discusses how FHA morgages work, how much of a down payment you will need (1.25-2.85% depending on the area), benefits and drawbacks, how to qualify, and probably most importantly, how to obtain one. Just like the rest of the book there are "Tip"s and "Caution"s and tables to help explain.

Although I was disappointed that this book is not ALL about buying a house with little or no money down, as the title implies, there is lots of very useful, helpful, informative information in this book. However, no one book has everything. I would recomend, "100 Questions Every First-TIme Home Buyer Should Ask" by Ilyce R. Glink in addition to this book to any first-time home buyer out there.

      Happy House Hunting! :-)

5 out of 5 stars Reverse Mortgages by Greg Patti- A Great Usable Guide.......2006-09-22

I first discovered this book through the author's website, but it's nice to also find it here on Amazon. Anyway, with aging parents and in-laws, I was looking ahead for ways to help pay for the inevitable long term health care expenses that's coming around the corner. I'm talking upwards of $5000 per month...each! So after some hunting around the net, I discovered reverse mortgages and found Greg Patti's book.

He talks about the most common scenarios, offers a decision chart, and gives real recommendations as to how to get your payouts. I like the stuff on how not to get ripped off. As far as I could tell he's not selling RMs, so I reckon he's real about his recommendations. It's pretty easy to read, but he's also got "executive summary" versions available if you're too lazy to read this one. Looks like it costs a bit more here compared to other RM books, but it's cheap enough. The info coming from someone of his financial background makes it justifiable.

      5 out of 5 stars GREAT reference!.......2006-09-02

I'd heard of reverse mortgages but hadn't seriously thought about them because it seemed that all the places where I could get information were actually selling something. Also, who has the time to spend 60 hours researching a mortgage? This book is perfect because the author is not trying to sell a reverse mortgage and has a tremendous financial background. All the information I need is packaged in one easy reference with lots of advice on who to contact if you want further information on a topic. I loved the "Quick Answers" section because I managed to pick out the questions that would allow me to decide whether I even want to delve further into the concept. Let's face it, if I don't have to learn about mortgages, I'd rather not. But I was able to quickly determine that yes, a reverse mortgage would be a really great thing for my parents. The large text is great for my dad who's vision isn't what it used to be. Lots of examples. Breaks down complicated and confusing concepts into easy to digest tables and bullets. This book doesn't just lay out the facts, it gives great recommendations and tips. Shows actual forms so you can get comfortable with the process. Gives you the list of all the things you'll need to get a loan, questions to ask your broker, and definitions of the financial jargon. Great book. Highly recommended.

I particularly like the large print as this book is intended or seniors to read. Very easy to understand and had great money saving ideas. It would be nice if this book would be available in spanish. I know several hispancic seniors that would benefit from the information in this book.

5 out of 5 stars The Right Stuff - a really good guide.......2006-08-11

What I needed on this topic was a well laid out and readable guide that gives me the right information without overwhelming me with details. This book does a good job of that. Right up front was a great idea, give me the FAQs in the first few pages, and then tell me what chapter to look in for the details. I also like the way he clearly identifies and summarizes the key concepts for the section you're reading on the left hand page. This book made a complex topic pretty easy to understand and the structure of it also makes it easy to go back and find something later. This is the best of the books I've seen on Reverse Mortages.

4 out of 5 stars Just as advertised..........2006-04-21

It's just as advertised. The only thing that could make it more useful would be to have lower interest rates available in case you want to figure something out like student loan payments, etc. Overall a good book.
