    Book Description

The aim of this issue is to bring together the latest research and practice using qualitative methods in European work and organizational psychology. Work psychology research and practice has traditionally been dominated by the use of quantitative methods. However, the last few years have seen an explosion of interest in qualitative methods and recognition of their potential in casting new light on traditional and emerging issues in the work psychology domain. Despite this, the wide range of qualitative methods used in organizations and work psychology research has not been well documented. By producing this special issue, we hope to stimulate greater interest in alternative and innovative approaches to analysing and understanding work and organizational life.

The papers within the issue focus on the applied use of qualitative methods by work and occupational psychology researchers and practitioners. A range of methods and types of organizations are covered. Additionally, an Editorial and three commentaries upon the collection are included. These draw out the links between the papers generally and highlight the ways forward for researchers and practitioners keen to use qualitative methods in their own work.

3 out of 5 stars Summarizes FDA rules, but does not discuss them.......2003-10-09

I bought the book based on only one review, but was a bit disappointed. It did indeed list all relevant code, and referenced it for further study, but the codes themselves are hardly self-explanatory. Except for some introductory comments, there was very little in the way of further explanation on the topics in this book.

I was looking for some interpretation, examples, what is typically done in the real world to meet requirements, etc.

It's a good reference book, but just a starting point in understanding what is necessary to satisfy the FDA in medical device manufacturing. Buy it used if possible, you won't be using it much except for reference.

5 out of 5 stars Good at laying out the rules.......2000-12-07

Mfg. Engr. manager for a large medical device company.

After spending 2.5 days with an FDA auditor, I realized that I did not know what was expected by the regulatory body in terms of process validations, equipment installation and maintenance and all of the record-keeping and documentation that is required for them.

To learn all of that quickly, I purchased and studied this book. For each subject (process validations, equipment, calibration and all other areas), it lists the FDA regulation, the corresponding ISO regulation and then has an "FDA guidance" section that breaks down both into plainer English. It was helpful to have all of the information in one place.

The frustrating part with the FDA is that they won't tell you exactly how to do things, they'll just lay out the rules and you have to figure out how to get there from here. This book is good at laying out all of the rules.

I would recommend this book to any level person who may have to answer to an auditor. There are sections on Design Control, Nonconforming Production, Labeling and Packaging, Statistical Techniques and more that apply to each area of the business.

              Book Description

This groundbreaking book recognizes the devastating effect product liability lawsuits can have on corporations worldwide, and the necessity for organizations to understand all the elements of product liability prevention. Taking a proactive approach to describing how to put this type of quality program in place, Randall L. Goodden (known worldwide as a leading expert in the field of Quality and Product Liability Prevention) demonstrates how any organization, even with its own non-legal staff, can join the fight against potential product liability actions, and win!

Once this type of quality program is initiated, the company will have not only gained a whole new level of awareness and education, but it will also have product liability teams and experts in place who will help the company steer clear of any potential future problems. This new dimension of quality will lead to substantial improvements in many areas of any organization, significantly protect organizations from legal action, and help improve their bottom line.

                Book Description

Air Quality Compliance and Permitting Handbook provides a straightforward, easy-to-read, nonlegal explanation of the regulatory and technical concepts of air quality compliance, explaining how to effectively manage air compliance at a facility. Although the majority of the book is devoted to a wide general applicability, it also describes the actual permit submissions that are required under regulations (many of which end up being state requirements) and the technical and analytical approaches which are needed in preparing the information required in the permit applications. Useful topics include: Fundamental 1990 and previous Clean Air Act concepts, Permitting, Compliance Checklists and risk assessment methodologies.

5 out of 5 stars Made Sense of It All.......2004-05-23

This is a terrific, clear explanation of air pollution rules. As a plant manager, I got more useful information from this book than I got in five years of paying attorneys and consultants. It's an easy read and it's easy to find the information you need. In the 700 pages (not 1,500 like somebody else said) Mr. Trzupek makes sense of all of the rules that nobody can understand, gives you weapons to fight with and provides a bunch of resources to use. This is a book I can actually use.

2 out of 5 stars Not Worth It.......2003-03-14

Three hundred pages of generalities, very little specific. 1200 pages of appendix. The book was over price, considering it is really nothing more than a dictionary of air quality compliance and permitting. The chapters and topics over and over suggest the topic at hand is complicated and changing and to variable to go into specifics. For 90 dollars and 1500 pages I want to know specifics for different processes, at different levels, in different regions, in different states. On page three he suggests that if you are looking for a book that covers every possible contingency this book is not for you...he is correct...yet the book should be renamed to 'If You Are In Business, You Can't Afford Not To Hire Someone That Can Understand Air-Quality Compliance...But Not Write A Comprehensive Text On The Subject in 1500 Pages or Less".
