Get Ready To Be Delivered From Financial Debt!!!!!.......2006-03-07
My former church offered semester long classes on Christian Finances Parts I, II and III and this book was used for Part I:Attitude Adjustment. After studying this book and learning the biblical principles of money, tithing, stewardship, and needs vs wants, I can assure you that you will definitely have an "attitude adjustment" toward money management. This book does an awesome job of laying out the foundation and building us up to be better stewards of all that God blesses us with. It gives you God-confidence that He is in the midst of it all and will take care of you and always right on time. You will finish and feel like you may not have always done the right thing with God's money but now you know better so you will be able to do better. I can't give this book enough praise for what it has given me - financial freedom from debt, the right way. God's way!
Pretty good, even if you skip the theology.......2001-03-15
The financial advice is sound, practical, and practiceable, even for those who aren't Christians of Larry Burkett's stripe. I found the scriptural backing of every single point a little annoying, but not badly so, and would have no problem recommending the book to anyone as long as they understood that this was a book written by a born-again Christian, and knew what that meant. Definately one of the better books out there for providing sound basic advice for those who need to start from the very beginning.
How to Manage Your Money.......2000-06-09
This book helped me to clarify in my heart Who is the owner of all things. I know that God is the Creator, but the owner of what I have acquired? This book helps to focus the reader that God is the owner of our talents, possessions, time, and money. The spiritual insights are remarkable; and the book reveals how often God speaks about finances and what we are to do with them. Finally, the book reveals that when we commit our lives and finances to God, He will provide for our every need.
how to manage your money.......1999-12-19
Excellent book for novist to professional. As a financial planner and a Christian I find this book loaded with practical scripture verses. It deals with evereyday financial matters, questions and thougths I constantly have about what god thinks about money matters. A must if you love the Lord and want his best concerning your finances.
Product Description
Don't be deceived by the simple cover. This book will help the homeowner to save serious money because it reveals the truth about the unreasonably high costs in home remodel and new construction. This is the only home construction book written by a professional engineer with over 30 years of industrial construction experience as well as in managing the construction of over 800 houses.
If the homeowner or investor hires subcontractors to build the different phases of the work they can expect to pay $100 per square foot(SF) or less.
The Pat Fay Method is a Construction Management book for the homeowner or investor such as house flippers. Pat Fay's goal it to teach homeowners how to save serious money in their remodel or new construction projects.
Pat Fay managed the construction of his 3,500 SF home in Kirkland, Washington without a general contractor and built for $65 per square foot.
Pat Fay has set out to bring industrial construction methods and practices to the home construction world. He has done so in this book. Now the homeowner knows how to do their own planning and preliminary design, how to conduct effective meetings, how to manage the final design of their project, work with the city & inspectors, what type of contract to sign, how to modify contracts, how to control change orders, how to avoid liens, how to find, and work with contractors, use competition to drive the project cost down, how much a phase of construciton should cost, and how to inspect the project.
Be one of the growing number of American homeowners who are saying no to the high cost of home construction and yes to the Pat Fay Method.
An interesting statistic. 80% of the students at Pat Fay's classes are women. Woman have also purchased 90% of his books sold on Amazon. This book empowers all homeowners especially women.

Excellent resource, very practical,.......2007-08-04
This book is an invaluable resource for any homeowner who wants to have work done on their home. Though designed principally to allow a homeowner to be their own general contractor, it is equally useful for anyone who hires a contractor. The book is very practical. I found tips on every page, though we have done several remodels of our own. If we had this book before our remodels we probably would have saved thousands of dollars, and reduced the stress of doing the remodels. The author's background in cost estimating is evident in this book and provides a resource for determining comparing bids from contractors to industry standards. I am going to be purchasing another one-my daughter's husband saw it and wanted mine. Before you remodel you should buy this book!

The Pat Fay Method.......2007-06-13
While I have not yet had a chance to finish reading Pat's book, I can say that it is unique in that I have not found any book in the marketplace like it. The advice presented will save you hundreds of times the cost of the book! Also, shipping was extraordinarily fast, just one day!
Very helpful guideline!.......2007-05-11
I have attended Pat Fay's class and have read The Pat Fay Method book. I am in the process of building a new home and have referred numerous times to The Pat Fay Method book for valuable advice and guidance. The book has reinforce my confidence for be my own general contractor. I have followed the suggestions outlined in The Pat Fay Method and it is working to keep the project organized and on track. I have read two other "How to build your own home" books and The Pat Fay Method is by far the most informative.
Very helpful source of expertise in home remodeling or building.......2007-05-08

A Neat Plan - Borrow before you Buy.......2007-04-16
This book explains one family's approach to teaching their children to understand money.
I believe this book offeres interesting ideas on how you might best develop the ability to manage money in your own children.
The book provided me with some ideas on how I could develop a program that parents could use to not only teach their children to understand the game of finances but how to teach children that income is directly related to providing one or more services to others (like earning an A in a course or doing a good job on the lawn).
I borrowed this book from the library and decided to jot down some notes and return it. My advice is that you consider doing the same. If you think, after reading it, that it is something you need as a reference as you go through the years of raising your child then buy it for your reference shelf.
Great for parents.......2006-12-30
I met Lynne Finch at a women's leadership expo. When she told me about her book with is history and philosophy, I had to learn more. This wasn't a concept I had thought about. I'm a Baby Boomer so I grew up with the use of dollars and coins, which evolved into writing checks and then using credit cards. As with today's children not knowing what a vinyl record is, after I spoke with Lynne, I realized that my grandchildren would have no way of understanding the use of cash when their parents have direct deposit, write checks, and swipe debit and credit cards.
I asked Lynne if her book would be appropriate for my two grandchildren who are 20 months and 4 months old. She assured me that it's never to early to learn the concept and then apply it as the children become ready. I ordered three books from her: one for my son's family, one for my daughter's family, and one for me.
We are all very pleased with the information in this book. Handling money is a complicated process but Lynne presents it in easy-to-understand concepts complete with charts, diagrams, and illustrations. She developed it and lived it as her children grew. This is how she taught her children the concept of money, going through the trials and errors of experimentation with a totally new approach. And now since the children are adults and manage their finances very well, she is witness to its value in helping other parents.
Both my children are learning about money in a totally new way and are putting Lynne's concepts into practice, preparing themselves to teach their children how to manage finances in a no-cash society.
I urge you to read this book and get a new perspective on managing money.
Heart to heart talk.......2005-04-29
My wife and I heard about this book from a friend and being new parents of a 4 month old, we figured was never too early to start thinking about how to handle money with our daughter so we bought a copy. I didn't know what to expect but I'm so glad we made the purchase...
Aside from the truly unique system that Finch has put in place (starting for kids at age 3!!), there is a chapter early on in the guide that asks a series of questions about how we, as parents, view money, grew up with (or without money), how OUR parents handled money, what our perceptions were about money as kids and now as adults, etc. The author has a fantastic list/series of questions in this chapter and my wife and I sat down one Sunday morning and started to go through each one - taking turns answering.
Believe it or not, after being my wife's best friend for over 15 years, there were some things I didn't know about her when it came to money, mostly regarding to how she was raised by her parents and their attitudes towards it. And visa versa. We ended up having a 2 hour conversation about our childhood, finances, expecations and dreams for our family and daughter. This chapter alone, based on the ground my wife and I covered during that conversation, is worth 100X what I paid for this book.
I went out and bought a second copy for my brother and sister in law...they have three kids and I know other parents will benefit from both the content and conversations this book will spur with their spouse or partner. We highly recommend this book.

satisfied in Irvine.......1999-12-16
I recently read this book and found it very helpful. I have taken direction and started writing my creditors letters and had marvelous results. I have re-established my credit by getting a secured credit card and am very happy to say I am repairing my credit myself through reading this manual.
Easy to understand and full of useful and practical advice!.......1999-06-15
Shaun Aghili's "The No Nonsense Credit Manual" is by far the best do-it-yourself credit repair guide I've come across. He shares with his readers his own experience with credit disaster and the mistakes he made along the way. This book offers not only advice on getting yourself out of debt and cleaning up your credit, it also provides you with sample letters to send to creditors and credit bureaus for various situations. I found this book to be easy to understand and full of excellent advice. Whether you find yourself in "credit hell" or want to simply more knowledgeable about credit issues, this work is good reading.

Christianity-centered money smarts, if that's what you want.......2003-11-15
Prospective buyers should be aware this book contains fantastic information on money management for teens and young adults and that it also contains a chapter--a serious chapter--on tithing and the gospel behind it, and that some of the chapter review questions have more to do with what the Bible says about money management than what a financial advisor would tell you.

Book Description
The importance of starting early with a well-planned retirement program has never been greater. Because of inflation, it's practically impossible to predict how much money you will need in order to live comfortably after you retire. You can't count on Social Security benefits to support you either, but by establishing a savings plan at a young age, you'll be well on your way to a comfortable retirement.
Author William Cubberley has studied and followed the stock market for decades. Drawing on advice from countless brokers and other advisers, he has distilled the best in Investing for Smarties, tackling topics such as
- The importance of beginning early
- Choosing a broker
- Avoiding common pitfalls
- Investing in mutual funds
- Protecting your nest egg
- Researching the overall market
- Buying and selling stocks
- Keeping good records
Cubberley also includes his own insights on investing and on life. His anecdotes perfectly illustrate the points he makes in this entertaining, helpful guide to retirement planning. Investing for Smarties will help you understand why so few small investors prosper; it will also show you how to avoid the pressures you'll encounter as you plan for your future.

Finally, An Investment Book We Can Understand!.......2007-02-01
Reviewed by William E. Cooper for Reader Views (1/07)
Finally, an investment book we can understand! "Investing for Smarties" is a book for people who invest, or want to, that is simple and easy to understand. It's actually usable! I hold two graduate degrees, one in Business Administration, and one in Public Administration. Part of that education was taking courses in and studying the macro-economic system (world-wide) and the micro-economic system (US related). Studying Finance as it relates to the market was often complex and frustrating. I frequently found myself asking how such a system could ever have been devised, much less be understandable. Then, thinking about investing years later caused me to re-visit the system to select where to place my dollars. The scale and magnitude of the system hadn't changed much, so I sought help with an investment firm. That proved to be less than a stellar idea, and after again investigating how to properly invest, moved to a firm I now enjoy.
I've often thought about keeping up with the investments rather than having a third party do so, but just never found a book that explained it all in simple terms - how do you properly invest your money and trust that it will be there when you need it? Well, let me tell you, such a book exists. Mr. Cubberley has written a great book that literally everyone should own and read. The small investment in time and resources to go through this book are so well worth it. His descriptions of how to make the system work for you are excellent.
After reading this book, and finding that I wished I'd had this book many years ago, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for every family and every person to read this and follow the instructions. At the very minimum, you'll get a great education in economics and the market you didn't have before. Using the information in "Investing for Smarties" can literally help you decide when and how to invest and have success doing so. You'll avoid making the same mistakes so many others have made, and you'll learn the simplicity with which you - not an investment company - can improve your financial well being.

Detailed review and biting criticism of Lockheed's management of the L-1011 Program .......2006-12-31
This book presents a review of the managerial, financial and commercial aspects of the L-1011 program. It provides quite a level of detail, among other things, on sales tactics, commercial forecasts, and financing deals surrounding the program. The author goes to some lengths to analyse what went wrong in various stages of the program as well as presenting a biting criticism of Lockheed's corporate culture, management, inexperience in the commercial airplane business as well as failure to rectify these issues. Although West does not profess to having a balanced view of events, this book - along with books such as John Newhouse's Sporty Game - should be required reading for anyone trying to understand the workings of the commercial airplane business.
As mentioned by the previous reviewer, this book only covers the commercial aspects of the L-1011 program, not technical aspects of the airplane.
The author retired as president and CEO of Lockheed Finance Corporation in 1994 after 27 years with Lockheed.
A Very Different View of The L-1011.......2002-08-14
I had absolutely no idea what to think of this book when I ordered it, as there was no description or information available on it that I could find. I bought it, as I am a huge devotee of the L-1011. I am by profession an airline pilot with type ratings in seven airliners including the L-1011, and consider the 1011 to be the best of the best, certainly the best of the early widebody aircraft. I was hoping for a pilot's perspective when I read this book, but that was just my personal bias. What I found was a work devoted to the management and financial aspects of the program.
That is not to say that it isn't an authoritative or useful book, it just will not be what the typical airliner fan (or pilot for that matter) will be most interested in. There is interesting information on the early contest vs. the DC-10 that is enlightening, but largely the book details financial arrangements at Lockheed.
The reason most people that know airliners love the L-1011 is it's incredible technological achievement (CAT IIIB, DLC, Flying Stabilizer, etc.), but here these are treated as an expensive waste of money. I am not saying Mr. West is wrong in his thinking, per se (the program DID lose money, after all), it is just that he sees the plane as a piece of metal and plastic, that is strictly a utility defined by a profit and loss statement. He does not seem to appreciate the longlasting strides in plane building and safety the TriStar made.
If you are really an L-1011 completist then by all means read it; it is good to have it available, just be aware it is not about the L-1011 itself, and contains no real technical information on the best airliner ever to grace the sky.
