Customer Reviews:
Not Bad.......2004-09-12
The author referenced the information as advertised but not as completely as I would have liked. Worth the look.
P.J. has enlightened us again.......2002-11-07
This is a cycle but the
telecom market is still getting worse. It is still a matter of overextension. Too
many companies that have borrowed from banks that expected to be huge
players with large market share in too short of time. This was the book that set the ground work for how recovery can start taking place as the economy goes through this bullish period.
Another Excellent Offering by P.J. Louis.......2002-10-08
I have come to rely on P.J. Louis for insightful, articulate, and comprehensive analysis of telecom issues. His latest book on telecom management is important reading for all those who work at the decision-making level in telecoms - and also for anyone who works with them. This book is highly recommended.
Insight from a trusted advisor.......2002-07-29
Mr. Louis' "tell it like it is" insight into the art of selling products and services in a tumultuous environment is refreshing. He provides succinct advice based on real experiences, in the good times as well as the bad times. I consider this book an essential tool for anyone thinking about entering or surviving in the Telecom arena.
Timely & on target.......2002-06-29
Mr. Louis has provided a "must have" resource for survival of telecoms. While HRA departments have become somewhat of a profit center with downsizing, the Telecom Management Course book offers an insight that may allow the slowdown of both the cause and effect. Focusing on the TEAM aspect and fundamentals of all Telecom sectors helps one to understand the interaction required to maintain profitability in any environment.
Mr. Louis is on target with topic and timely once again.

Customer Reviews:
Packed with mind-expanding ideas.......2001-03-21
Speaking as a corporate communication professional, I can honestly say this is the most stimulating business book I've read. The premise is that organization leaders must go beyond simply seeking buy-in from their employees to a more iterative, interactive (and, ultimately, much more inspiring and effective) process of continually reinventing the organization. This argument is supported with great examples and enough detail to be actionable.
Highly recommended........2000-12-29
Mary Boone has authored a wonderful resource for implementing a knowledge-sharing culture in the Enterprise. Things to pay special attention to in the book include the ten key competencies for mastering new methods of communication and management, her insightful analysis of trends and obstactles affecting corporate communication, and the way she uses interviews with CEOs and executives to show you how others have implemented effective collaborative strategies.
On the lighter side of things, read her story about "George" in the "Get Over Yourself" chapter. She uses this story to point out how personality differences can be a show stopper to implementing innovation and promoting creativity. Furthermore, she explains how collaborative technologies can help bypass some of these differences.
Book Description
Digital rights management (DRM) is a type of server software developed to enable secure distribution - and perhaps more importantly, to disable illegal distribution - of paid content over the Web. DRM technologies are being developed as a means of protection against the online piracy of commercially marketed material, which has proliferated through the widespread use of Napster and other peer-to-peer file exchange programs.
With the flourish of these file exchange programs, content owners, creators and producers need to have a plan to distribute their content digitally and protect it at the same timea seemingly impossible task. There are numerous books dealing with copyright, eBusiness, the Internet, privacy, security, content management, and related technical subjects. Additionally, there are several research papers, and almost daily newspaper and magazine articles dealing with digital piracy. However, there are only a few books and documents that bring these together as a basis for profitable exchange of digital content. Digital Rights Management can help content providers make money by unifying the confusing array of concepts that swirl around current presentations of DRM in newspapers and business publications.
* Learn from an award winning author and Emmy nominee
* Perfect for the non-technical decision maker, content owner or DRM implementation manager
* Details all the options from legal to technical
Customer Reviews:
Proofread?.......2007-04-28
The content in the book is current, useful and well researched.
However, in 40 years of reading, I have never seen a book so poorly proofread. There are spelling errors, bad grammar, incomplete sentences and such throughout the book... I will be writing the author to see if the next time she wishes to write a book, she'd like for me to proofread it free of charge... I feel badly for her. Somebody dropped the ball big time in an otherwise fine and useful work.
good overview of DRM ideas.......2006-10-17
Van Tassel gives an overview of current DRM methods. At a level understandable by a non-engineer or programmer. She describes why DRM is so important to many media companies. Or, in fact, to any company that has assets in digital form. If you've never dealt with DRM, her book is a useful introduction.
Some more technical readers might want to check out an alternate book - "Multimedia Security Technologies for DRM" by Zeng et al. That book goes far deeper into the mechanics of the various DRM methods.

E-Business is NOT easy, but it CAN be made simple........2001-01-28
E-Business to the Power of 12: The Principles of. dotCompetition is a breakthrough! For a long time we've had the 4P's of marketing; now we have the 12 P's of E-Business.
In order to really understand and effectively manage anything, such as an electronic business, you must have a 'unified' model that everyone understands and is able to manage respectively. In other words, the business itself needs to be viewable in 'context' so that you can gauge where you stand at any given time and make smart management decisions accordingly. In this fast paced, totally accountable world of electronic business, this is the core to success.
Many companies today, tend to engage in e-business projects; ventures or transformation long before a unified business model and a context for both development and management is established. Many important steps such as learning, planning, and thorough strategy analysis are either skipped or rushed prior to execution; steps that will ultimately maintain alignment between business development, operations, management and marketing in an electronic environment. As a result, electronic enterprises, in particular, due to typically rapid evolution, pay a price for a long time to come trying to manage what becomes unmanageable.
Large and small enterprises alike are also sold e-business solutions prematurely, as "the" answer to their problems and often from vendors ill-equipped to best handle the job within the "context" of the e-business management strategy; something many enterprises simply do not have.
At a time when there is dependency on a host of outsourced companies to operate aspects of your business outside of core competencies, and assuming it's a solid business to be in the first place; ensuring that certain principles and phases of development are adhered to is vital to long term success.
Thomas Power, co founder of Ecademy.com, after thousands of interviews with Internet luminaries such as Dell, Gates, Bezos and Ballmer, successful e-business operators and the like, can help "power" your business with "E-Business to the Power of 12: The Principles of. dotCompetition. Not only are these principles powerful, they are also organized in such a way that they operate as a 'platform', on which you can develop an e-business management strategy and better streamline business development, operations, management and marketing in an electronic environment. You will now know where you stand, what many of your issues are and how to proceed.
Once you've read the book, you can interact with Thomas Power and co, along with e-professionals in major markets around the world at Ecademy.com. Learn, network and develop your e-business within the context of this principle-centered platform. Ecademy.com is the place to be if you're involved with electronic business.

Customer Reviews:
yea, this one isn't for dummies!.......2001-09-28
I found the Effective Executive's Guide to Microsoft Outlook 2002 to be informative and useful. I really liked the tone, as I get irritated quickly with guides that hold your hand through each action, assuming you have no knowledge whatsoever. This guide offers interesting tips, has a nice layout, and is reasonably priced as well.
For readers tired of Dummies, Idiots and Step By Step books.......2001-07-28
This book on Outlook 2002 is a good reference for anybody who's using Outlook 2002--and especially for corporate users. The book emphasizes the email applications of Outlook, as the list of chapters below show, but it also covers the other types of work you can do:
Chapter 1: Getting STarted with Outlook Chapter 2: Reading E-Mail Chapter 3: Sending E-Mail Chapter 4: Managing Your E-Mail Chapter 5: Using a Contacts List Chapter 6: Managing Your Time Chapter 7: Maintaining Outlook
Appendix A: Using Notes Appendix B: Outlook and Exchange Appendix C: Automatically Process Form Data Appendix D: Glossary
Most Outlook users will find this book supplies all the information they need. The two weak points (at least for some readers) of this book are that it doesn't provide enough information about Outlook for people who are Outlook administrators or developers. I.e., it's not like one of those 1000pp Outlook references that tell you everything there is to know about Outlook. Another weak point is that if someone really likes the hand-holding and slow pace of, for example, a Dummies book or a Complete Idiots Guide or a Step by Step book (where they tell you to click OK when you finish with some dialog box), this isn't the right book. It assumes you've got some basic computer skills.
