Contiene una versión comentada de todas las reglas que facilita su lectura, lo cual facilita mucho su lectura y comprensión al explicar el contexto en el que fueron escritas

a pesar de que este libro tenga milemios de antiguedad su palabra es aun vigente, y valida para aquellas personas que viven una guerra constante, asi sea en sus trabajos o en sus vidas y estan tan acostumbrada a ellas que no las pueden dejar. Overall a great resource.......2007-09-04

This is a great recipe book for those a little intimidated by feeding their new eater but also wanting food to be wholesome, nutritious, adventuresome, and fun. The recipes have made me think of new combinations or add a little spice here and there that I might not have otherwise. The only shortcoming is mixing some of the one year old recipes with those of 9 months up to 1 year, which means the recipes with milk (and eggs depending upon your pediatrician's advice) might not really be suitable for a while longer. It's a bit confusing and limits your options in that age range. I am definitely ready to introduce more things to my daughter within her current repertoire and need a few more hints for the next couple of months. I'll check around elsewhere for those, but this is a great book to have on hand nonetheless.

This book has harder recipes and if I would have gotten this book by itself it would have been a turnoff to making my own baby food.

The book starts out with explanations of organic versus non. Then into baby recipes and finally ones for toddlers. Great uses of a large variety of fruits and vegetables. A must have for your bookshelf!

good baby's first cookbook .......2007-08-09

I bought this to learn how to make food for my first baby. I previewed many others. It's a great book with lots of suggestions for different foods and combinations to feed. It gives very detailed directions for cooking the foods either on the stove top or in the microwave for every recipe. This would be helpful for someone who does not cook a lot, though I find myself just giving the baby whatever we have on hand and cooking it or mashing very simply. I think the best thing about this book is the guidlines for what to feed and when. Also which foods to avoid at what ages. I am sure I will use it more as he gets older and starts to eat more combos of food. Very user friendly book with lots of tips throughout. All in all a good first baby cook book.

great recipes for all age ranges as well as good dietary info. as you get further into the book, some of the recipes are so good that my wife and i find ourselves snacking on the muffins and cakes that come from the book. i would highly recommend this if you like to cook and want to make food for you child that is better than the boring fare of other cookbooks.

...Or why "O" ain't the whole story. The kind of people who like this book are probably the kind of people who think it's just so clever to dress baby in a onesie that says "Organic." Would you do that? I almost would. Yet sometimes there's a mile between almost and would. This bright, cheery book has "baby-shower present" and "first-time mom" written all over it. My excuse, as a 2x mom? Christmas present. I would be disingenuous if I said I've gleaned nothing flipping through the pages. I'm interested in the author's use of grains and potato to provide structure to purees, and I admit to being fascinated by her use of onions, spices and tomatoes in baby food, all of which I considered potential irritants to the infant palate.

I'll tell you flat out that my 7-month-old was crazy for the "apple and banana breakfast," to which, I might mention, I added butter, against the author's advice, and salt. I recently baked the "fruity cupcakes" for my 4-year-old's birthday at preschool; they had just the right healthy-PC-good-mom thing I was going for, though the preschool teacher was disconcerted by my use of unlit candles to anchor little slices of kiwi to the top. Did I intend to light those things?

My two main complaints against the book are these: the idea that by cooking organic, one is meeting all one's child's nutritional needs is perilous, and do you really want to start cooking separate meals for your child now? Let's take a look at a recipe geared for the 4-7 month-old, "Mediterranean Vegetables and Chicken." You start by heating olive oil in a pan and sautéing vegetables. Do I need to expand on this? I mean, I'm all for it if it's in lieu of mac-and-cheese and hotdogs, but then that's also a separate meal for kids. Guess what you'll be doing when the kids are 16? I prefer to adapt whatever I'm eating to baby's needs; so for instance, if I put a chicken in the pot in the a.m., I poach and puree the liver for baby, and she also gets to drink a teacup of nourishing broth. If the whole family is eating Mediterranean Vegetables and Chicken, then OK, let's grab the Braun Multiquick and get busy.

More seriously, the author's dietary guidelines are better suited to the forty-year-old male than the infant. Some are flat-out wrong: "There is no better way to enjoy the full nutritional value of organic fruit and vegetables than to eat them raw." Because babies lack adequate amounts of the enzyme for converting beta carotene into Vit A, they generally don't do well with vegetables. And mother's milk contains over 50 percent of calories in fat, much of it saturated, so the wise mom will make a point of feeding her infant egg yolks and grass-fed butterfat as she weans, not pasta shapes and tomato sauce. Finding good information on the feeding of infants is difficult, the proverbial needle in a haystack. My best recommendation is to check out the Weston A. Price Foundation's journal "Wise Traditions"--look on-line--for excellent information on Vit. D and infancy, cod-liver oil supplementation, etc. The orientation toward non-toxic and alternative farming and pasture-fed livestock fits the bill, and the articles are generally intellectually stimulating.

Great recipes, good ideas -- but would like to be more inclusive.......2007-01-22

This cookbook has some lovely recipes and I applaud the authors for making most of them accessible, and without a lot of ingredients or ridiculous amounts of preparation. After all -- the recipes are for babies. I make the "days out cakes" for my family a lot, and everyone loves them; the meatballs, too, are delicious and good for all. The instructions were clear; the photos, adorable.

However! I'd like if the recipes were more inclusive, offering amounts for more than just one baby, and suggesting how to embellish the recipe for adults. The thing is, if I'm going to spend a lot of time cooking for my baby, especially if the recipes are this yummy and healthful, it would be nice if I could have the option for making the recipe for my entire family (maybe suggesting a spicier sauce for mommy & daddy, for instance). I did that anyway; it would just have been nice to have assistance and ideas from the book's authors.

Some delicious dishes for OLDER BABIES.......2006-11-08

I've enjoyed making many of the dishes in this book--a highlight: the delicious Pumpkin Stew, which my one-year-old gobbles up and I like too--but the recipes are not appropriate for new eaters. A 4-month-old shouldn't be eating complex foods liked mixed vegetables sauteed with onion in olive oil. Like other reviewers, I suggest this book as a complement to other resources.

If you are interested in books that provide healthy meals this is a great buy. The book is organized by stages. Simple recipes are provided and your child not only gets to eat healthy meals but a variety at that.

Recipes mediocre, more work than they are worth.......2006-08-15

I liked the idea. I was drawn to it because of the title and thought it would give me good ideas for healthful food for my little one. It didn't.
I have a very picky eater (14 months) and thought this book would give me ideas for new healthy foods to give her, but I must admit, cooking that intricately for a child who tasted it and was not in the least interested is not how I wish to spend my time as a mom. Better to feed her off of my healthy plate. I'd rather cook a meal big enough for the both of us that at least one of us will eat! Maybe in a year or two the recipes for older children will be more successful.
Also, I ate a few of the dishes(since good organic food shouldn't go to waste!) and they really weren't that impressive to me either. And I am far from picky!
The discussion on organic importance was interesting and well written. However, I have already chosen to do as much organic food as I can afford, so it wasn't what I was looking for in the book.
Finally, she talks about weaning a breastfed child as you introduce solids, which is ridiculous. It outlines a weaning process, which just doesn't have a place in the book.

This book is a great practical guide for new parents........1999-02-09

I really enjoyed this book. It provides a history of the commercial baby food companies. It was a great resource to begin making my own baby food. It was also helpful as a reference to the developmental stages from first foods through preschool. This book supports introducing solids later than traditionally endorsed. I LOVED IT!

Fitkid7 is a great book on childhood fitness & health. It covers the issues of exercising, healthy eating and much much more.

I found it was easy to read (unlike a few others I've tried).

I love all the sections on Recipies, Shopping lists, meal ideas etc.

I would recommend FitKid7 to anyone looking for a book on kid's health. Your kids would love to read it just as I have.
