Customer Reviews:
Excellent for homeschooling moms!.......2007-07-08
What an awesome book! This book helps put any stressed mother's life into perspective using her 5 "P" method, regardless of whether you're homeschooling, a stay-at-home mother, or work outside the home. Holly's solutions regarding stress reduction, scheduling, and remaining flexible have changed my ideas about how to organize and run my own home and family. Highly recommended for any Catholic (or Christian) mother who wants to serve God and her family with peace and love.
Great read for Catholic home schooling moms........2006-12-31
I really enjoyed reading Holly's book. I would def. reccomend it to anyone wanting a pick me up when feeling overwhelmed with home school and motherhood in general.
Wonderful Read.......2006-12-05
I think that this book is a must read for moms who are trying to balance family christianity and self. I plan to read again!
broad audience will benefit.......2006-08-24
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and even return to re read parts of it. I am not Catholic ( I am Protestant) have teen agers and work outside the home as well and I found it so encouraging and am so blessed to have found it. For any women trying to get advise and inspiration on getting a mess straightened out as a tool to opening themselves up to the special blessings the Lord has for you. Susanna
Great book, helpful ideas.......2006-05-24
I enjoyed reading this book. I have used some of her suggestions in regard to starting a routine for my children and sticking with it. For example , schedule clean up before something fun or mealtime so the children have something to look forward to. This may be common sense to alot of people but it is something I have not thought of before.
In addition, she mentions Mother Theresa and how her schedule or Rule of Life inspired her to make a Mother's Rule for her family.
Book Description
You don't have to become a biblical scholar or a theologian to be an effective spokesman for the Catholic Faith. In fact, even though you don't know all the answers and can't explain every aspect of the Faith, you can begin winning souls to the Church right now . . . using prayer, friendship, and common sense.
It sounds almost too good to be true, but in Search and Rescue Patrick Madrid explains why these are among the most effective, time-tested methods for bringing family and friends into or back into the Church. As the publisher of Envoy magazine, author of many apologetics books (including Surprised by Truth 2), and a veteran defender of the Faith, Madrid himself has used these methods successfully for years.
But Madrid doesn't give you only the benefit of his own considerable experience: in Search and Rescue he also includes simple and genial advice from St. Francis of Assisi, St. Augustine, and other great lovers of God. Get Search and Rescue the book that shows you how you can start winning souls for Christ today!

How to Present Catholic Beliefs.......2007-07-26
This book is an excellent presentation on Catholic beliefs and how to present them the others and to people who may have fallen away from the Church. It is an easy read and an excellent reference book for later use.
Inspirational, a must-read for all Catholics.......2006-07-24
Search and Rescue is a thought-provoking and compelling book that should become required reading in every Catholic high school. As Catholics, many of us do a very poor job of sharing our faith with others. We're either reluctant to get into discussions with our Protestant friends, or we may have a condescending attitude about our faith that pushes others away. This book will prepare, encourage, and empower you to share your Catholic faith with family, friends, and others, and could quite possibly help to bring them into or back into the Catholic Church.
From his many years as a successful apologist, Patrick Madrid shares his experiences with why you should evangelize, what your mindset needs to be for God to work through you, evangelizing without words, how to prepare yourself mentally and spiritually to engage in discussions, how to approach others about your faith, how to endure failures, and, ultimately, how to trust the process to God, who is the only One who can truly bring non-Catholics back to the Church. Additionally, Search and Rescue is filled with inspirational quotes and prayers from some of the greatest saints, popes, and evangelists in the Church's history, and ends with an excellent reading plan for improving your skills at being God's messenger.
The How-To of Evangelizing, Not a Theology.......2004-12-22
Search and Rescue is a practical, hands-on style, guide to evangelizing. Patrick Madrid takes the reader into the specific steps that they need in learning how to DO evangelization. He deals with using opportunities to talk to strangers, friends, family, door-to-door evangelists, and especially the bitter ex-Catholic person that most will deal with eventually. Madrid shows you that in order to evangelize you needn't be a theological expert, but that you MUST have a proper mindset towards evangelization and the people that you are trying to evangelize. He warns that our pride and arrogance can get in the way of the best laid arguements. In fact, there are entire chapters of this book dedicated to: making sure that we are doing it for God and not for glory, not treating people like scalps to be won for the faith, making sure that we ARE sincerely friendly and loving to people (and not just trying to come across that way), and recognizing that the Holy Spirit does the true converting and that we are but tools of that conversion.
Useful ideas that will be especially gleaned by the reader of this book: making sure that you talk more to God about the person you are trying to convert than you talk to the person about God, be constantly aware of the tendancy to pride and the subsequent need for consist visits to the sacrament of confession, and being reasonably prepared to deal with common arguements.
Search and Rescue is NOT an apologetic or theological work. It is a how-to manual for APPLYING apologetic and thoelogical studies. The author gives lots of great references for where to find good study guides for the faith and apologetics, including a strong emphasis on person daily prayer and scripture reading.
This is an awesome work that will teach people how to evangelize those around us in the world, as well as how to deal with the painful situation of a close friend or family member who leaves the Church over 'issues' or because of a conversion to protestantism. Those looking to become serious about evangelizing people in the world, or those confused about what to do about the family member being wooed by charismatic protestant church members NEED this book.
Helpful but not very.......2004-01-31
This book could have been much more helpful. It does give good quotes from the Bible, lessons he has learned, and examples from history to help along the way. However, most of what he says seems obvious at times. Even though it's obvious, it's good advice, but advice that is hard to follow. The recommeneded reading list is a great addition at the back of the book to help people begin reading about the Catholic faith.

Great book for Students, Employees, Bosses.......2004-03-07
I first came across this book more than 10 years ago, when as a doctor I was asked to give a lecture on stress management. It was life-changing for me, both at work and in my leisure time, as well--because it taught me how to play again, and to allow myself to enjoy sports at the same time I was driven to excell.
I recommend this book all the time to colleagues, patients and students. And I'm now buying a copy for my teenaged daughter, a competitive athlete who is combatting burnout. These skills should be graduation requirements for every high school student.
Life Changer!.......2003-05-06
This book changed my life when it first came out... I brought my toys to the office and started taking regular juggling breaks. Using some of the strategies in the book, I transformed myself and my team. Now, years later, I've found myself rediscovering the book, and sharing it with my new team -- although I'd incorporated many of the strategies into my work and home life, I'm re-applying some of the forgotten messages and strategies. This book is nothing short of life-changing. I also love the illustrations! The ONLY negative I have about the book is that I think the original larger format was a better package -- that edition had a very fun color road map / chapter listing on the inside covers that added a great deal to the look and feel of the book. (I was happy to find that the content had remained the same.) I recommend this book to team leaders as well as team members. DO THE EXERCISES!
Live by the words..........2002-08-23
This book made me realize that so many Americans take their work as the only thing they have in life to give of themselves. But they take for granted the most important aspect of life ... themselves and their loved ones. Read this book and you will realize that there is DEFINATELY a lot more to life than work. I enjoyed the book for that realization. I felt though that the suggestions were not as detailed as I would have liked and wished it had gone deeper into applying it to your everyday life. I guess the book is written to take you to the door, and you are the one that has to open it. I am recommending this book to friends. :)
End of burnout.......2000-07-09
I was very tired of work, when I found that book. The title made me curious. Actually I wanted to leave my job, but while reading I realised, that it was not only the job, it was me. I would have the same troubles everywhere. I now try to make some changes in my life and will see how it works.
You've heard the expression "Get a life!" - Here's how! !.......1998-07-25
If you find that you come home and collapse in front of your televison every night because you're "too tired" to do anything else, you should read this book.
This book should be required reading for every worker, manager and supervisor.
It was not too long ago that a 30 hour work week was predicted to become the norm for most US whitecollar workers. The average workweek today is almost 50 hours long. Layoffs, downsizing and the fears these management strategies instill have caused people to put in more and more time to survive, hoping to stay ahead of the next cutback.
This book explains why that reasoning is not only wrong, but achieves just the opposite result. This book suggests that a worker who goes home on time and has fun both on and off the job is more creative, more productive, and more successful.
A radical concept well worth exploring.

Customer Reviews:
Bringing Spirituality to the Workplace.......2003-12-19
Pat Sullivan has studied spirituality and its entwinement with daily life for more than 30 years and she has crammed many lessons in this important little book. She believes that an attitude of humility, commitment, integrity and spirit or prayerfulness can foster feelings of satisfaction and joy in the workplace...and one does not have to make a big show of spirituality in order to accomplish that feeling. All religions and creeds can bring their own sense of spirit to work; spirituality and work are not separate: "All work is ministry in some way, if only as a place to try to model appropriate principles and values." Even so, she does not sidestep such issues as right livelihood, mistakes, failures, burnout and unethical behavior. She offers tips for recovery from stress and the ways to handle personal problems that we bring with us to work. The workplace is a community, says Sullivan, where one person's attitude can have a profound affect. It is a place where we express our love through creativity. One of the great stengths of this little tome is its list of resources and notes at the end. It is a must read for anyone who wishes to transform their working life, whether that means changing careers of just changing attitudes.
a marvelous achievement!.......2003-11-27
"Work with Meaning, Work with Joy is a refreshing guide and wonderfully rich overview of the spiritual renaissance taking place in workplaces around the world today. Pat Sullivan is to be congratulated on a marvelous achievement."

Book Description
We spend more than half our waking moments at work. This is far too large an investment of our lives to treat work merely as an economic activity. We need to discover a way of deriving meaning and motivation from our experience of work. We need to discover ways to be more of who we truly are in the workplace.
In Bring Your Work to Life, Bill Mills provides his readers with an engaging and practical blueprint to transform work into a more meaningful, fulfilling and satisfying experience. He explores three key relationships: our relationship with Self - connecting with who we are and what we want; our relationship with Others - connecting with people as individuals and as teams; and our relationship with Higher Values - connecting with universal life principles.
