Customer Reviews:
Text for class.......2006-03-10
This is actually our text. I am currently enrolled in a master's program. I would say that it is our professor's depth of knowledge and her personality that makes the class enjoyable, but the text is a great reference and certainly a place to start gaining insight into the pitfalls and legal aspects of ethics in the field of psychology. If you are in a class make sure you check out YOUR state's laws concerning responsibility and informed consent!!!! If you ever thought it might be fun to be a lawyer, this should thrill you! Name of the game...CYA!!!!
It's Ethics-not too exciting -but they need a NEW proofreader........2006-01-30
I am reading this book for school of course - certainly NOT for pleasure. It's less than exciting, but more due to the topic at hand, than the material. What I have noticed, however is the abundance of typos throughout the book. I have never seen to many errors in a text book in my life - kind of funny really. I guess they need to get a new proofreader for the next edition. In Ch. 3 alone I've found 4-5 words already -and I'm not even done w/the chapter yet.
Great Deal!.......2005-06-01
This was a wonderful experience. I ordered the book on Friday and received it the following Tuesday, after a holiday, no less! The used book is in great condition and even with shipping I saved over 50% I'd recommend this to anyone.

Customer Reviews:
United Postal Service very bad option .......2007-05-15
The book came in great condition, the problem I have was the two week ship time. In turn classes started and I had to go the bookstore to buy another one to do the assignment. USPS should not be an option.
Learn about counseling ethics.......2007-02-19
I don't really have anything to compare this book with, but it gave me a pretty good idea of counseling ethics, laws and morality. It's a very good book, it's not written in a complicated learned language, so it's pretty understandable. And it has an ACA Code of Ethics in the appendix.
Reviewing Remley's Updated 2nd edition.......2007-02-07
Love the book. Well written and easy to understand. Book is not too heavy to carry around and read anytime or placewhere. The reviews and case studies are excellent and to the point.
Ethical, Legal, and Professional Issues in Counseling.......2006-11-05
This is a very practical text for students studying to be counselors. It would also be a broad, practical resource for all counselors when help is needed in addressing questions and issues that will be faced in the counseling profession.

Soul Searching: Why Psychotherapy Must Promote Moral Responsibility
ASIN: 0131120344 |
Book Description
This book offers a wealth of up-to-date coverage geared to the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy standards. With its practical focus and planned, concise coverage, the book ensures readers gain both a theoretical background and an applications orientation. An entire chapter is devoted to exploring contemporary ethical issues for which no formal precedent has yet been established. In addition, there are numerous case studies, and discussions of the differences between MFT as a distinct profession and MFT as a professional subspecialty. In each of the three major sections, chapters address general issues, as well as issues specific to marriage and family therapy. A concluding chapter in each section offers case illustrations that expand upon the material covered in the previous chapter. This two-step presentation helps learners attain a greater understanding of how information is used in actual practice...and helps them more effectively internalize instruction. For marriage and family counselors.
Customer Reviews:
Well-thumbed.......2002-04-22
I qualified 2 years ago as a Marriage and Family Therapist and I know how vital it is for the therapist to have a firm grasp of the ethical and legal issues involved. And this book is a fine guide. Not being sexist or anything, but you just don't know when some flaky female client is going to misunderstand something you say and slap a harrassment suit on you. 9 times out of ten the husbands don't back you up in those sort of circumstances either so you need something like this book to bail you out. Excellent.

From the supplier: The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) agreed to improve its ethical standards on accepting commissions and contingent fees in the 1989 court settlement between AICPA and FTC. Although the FTC won its case, its present aim to interfere in the state accountancy boards' affairs is an ambitious goal. State legislations dictate that licensed accountants are regulated by state boards of accountancy. Thus, FTC has no right meddling with its affairs.

From the supplier: The Arthur Andersen Tax Challenge provides accounting students with the opportunity to solve tax consulting problems by applying principles learned in tax classes. The students are organized into teams to compete against students from other colleges and universities. The competition has spurred tax departments to train their students for this type of work, and technical preparedness has been promoted. Students also learn about the type of work that they will do as tax practitioners.
