Book Description
The Burb Boys are back for phase four, just in time for a spring movie tie-in!
Over the Hedge chronicles the suburban lives of the critters who lived there first. When urban sprawl encroaches on their wild home, mischievous raccoon RJ and his sensitive best-buddy turtle Verne (aided by frenetic squirrel Sammy and a bevy of wacky rodents and marsupials) choose to take this rude incursion . . . with open arms. They critique suburbia's indulgences while exploiting its Dish TV, dishy lawn furniture, and deep-dish goulash of gar-baaage.
DreamWorks Animation is bringing the vision of Hedge creators Michael Fry and T Lewis to life in a feature film in Spring 2006, starring the voices of Bruce Willis as RJ and Garry Shandling as Verne. Other star voices in the computer-animated movie include Steve Carrell, Eugene Levy, Nick Nolte, William Shatner, Wanda Sykes, and singer Avril Lavigne.
Customer Reviews:
A great collection from a great comic strip.......2006-11-06
This is a very fuuny strip that has been around for years and is now a major animated feature. This volume, which has strips that were published before the movie also proves that the crazy squirrel, named Hammy in the movie and everything after that, was originally named Sammy. Why they changed the name is beyond me, but if you enjoy Over The Hedge, this is a great book of collected daily and Sunday strips.
Over the Hedge: Stuffed Animals.......2006-08-06
With the recent release of the Over the Hedge movie, more people are being exposed to the characters. Michael Fry does a superb job of showing humanity with all its warts as seen through our furry friends. Great book.
Not what I expected.......2006-08-01
Having watched the movie "Over The Hedge" I expected the characters to be just as funny, animated and entertaining. I found the books disappointing, slow and sometimes crass and NOT funny. I believe the screenwriters did a fantastic job in shaping this animated film, a rare case in which the movie is better than the book.
It's got a Shatner quote..........2006-07-05
...on the back cover.
What can I say, it's the 4th Over the Hedge book, and if you liked the first 3 (and the strip IS different then the movie), then you'll like Stuffed Animals. I read it everyday via comics.com (since the Indy Star doesn't actually have "funny" comics anymore) and I look forward to hearing what Verne & RJ are up to.
Over the Hedge : Stuffed Animals.......2006-06-24
This big book of comics was very, VERY funny! I enjoyed getting a laugh out of this book! Over the Hedge : Stuffed Animals has very funny topics. For example when RJ fishes. I would totally recommend this book, you would love it the same way I do!
Customer Reviews:
Over The Hedge (Over the Hedge (Andrews McMeel)).......2006-08-06
Loved this book. It brings back good memories of Michael Fry's comic strip. Our paper only carries it on Sundays, but I get the dailes over the internet.
Simply The Best.......2003-02-28
Great comic book. Easily one of the best strips in the paper today. Its kind of like looking at what happened to all of those characters in Bambi after they grew up and reality hit 'em! This is up there with Get Fuzzy, Far Side, and even Peanuts. Over The Hedge is hilarious and will be around for a long long time...LONG LIVE TWINKIE FISHING!
Welcome to an animal world beyond Pogo!.......2000-03-09
This is the very beginning of a very amusing saga involving funny animals - a welcome combination of "Calvin and Hobbes", "The Bloom County", and "Pogo", which are all now gone forever from the funny pages. In this zany comic strip, the follies of human nature are slyly observed through the bright eyes of a know-it-all turtle and an arrogant raccoon with his unquenchable thirst for chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate! Though this book may not be recommanded for anyone who don't have time for so many words, there are still fans out there who would love to read such witty dialouge from this silly pair of surburban slinkers!
Good fun.......1999-05-19
"Over the Hedge" is an appealing enough strip, revelling in the consumer culture of which we are all victims, "guzzling Mrs. Butterworth's." America is a sick place, and the joke's on us, not on the critters that arise from our senseless lifestyles.
Genesis of a Classic.......1997-11-17
Some of you out there, like me, may not have been blessed to watch the birth of Over the Hedge and see the early development of RJ and Verne. That's what makes this collection so wonderful...see the early, scrawny RJ and his graceful transformation into the loveable glutton we know today. Check out the size of Verne's head in the early strips. Yet throughout, RJ and Verne have always served as a source of biting (though never rabid) social commentary.
Customer Reviews:
Not your average friendly forrest creatures.......2006-07-20
They're quick-witted, irrepressible, and alarmingly insightful when it comes to pointing out the foibles of their pink primate neighbours. This is without a doubt one of THE best written and illustrated comics out there today.
Hedge-a-Riffic!.......1997-11-17
There's very little you can say that is worthy of the comic strip and this wonderful collection. With topics as varied as the internet and lawn decorations, RJ and Verne never lose their unique perspective on life in the suburbs and beyond. This will be my holiday gift to all my best friends.

My granddaughter loved it!.......2006-08-28
After seeing the movie together I decided to continue the experience by getting her the book. Worked like a charm. She enjoyed reliving the fun we'd had and learning more about the characters.
Great Book!!!.......2006-07-22
This is an awesome essential guide. it is for Dreamworks Animation's Over the Hedge. I love that movie. Anyhow, this book has a page for every character including RJ, Verne, Hammy, Stella, and more people. It has breathtaking full color photos and interesting facts. Did you know that the Porcupine Kids favorite video game is Auto Homicide 3? I didn't! Did you know the cat Stella falls in love with's name is Tiger? I hope you learned more about Over the Hedge and want to buy this book!

So cute!.......2007-01-05
This journal is well-constructed with high quality paper and binding. Each page has some kind of fairy on it, which takes up some of the writing space but not an obtrusive amount. It has a ribbon to mark your page.
This is an actual journal to write in.......2006-02-22
This is not another installment in the Lady Cottington's series, nor should it be confused with "Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Journal (Hardcover)". This is an actual honest-to-god journal. You know, one you write in. With blank pages. Well, the pages aren't actually blank - they are lined. And have some of the squashed fairy art/stickers from other books. Plus, out of 128 pages (according to the product info), there are only 13 pages that repeat over and over and over.
