Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-03-07

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description

No one understands superheroes better than Moore. This collection won him the 1997 Eisner Award for Best Writer, and shows he can still find fresh things to say about the nature of comic book superheroes. Supreme began life as an exceptionally violent Superman rip-off. Moore took over in 1996, jettisoning everything except Supreme's blond, muscular good looks and turning a copycat into an ingenious homage to the Superman archetype. This clever work retells the history of superhero comic books as reflected through Moore's retro drawings and superheroes modeled on characters and narrative styles from the 1930s to today. Suffering from amnesia, Supreme has returned to Earth, but must also return to his roots-his smalltown family, allies and bombastic enemies-to discover his origins. In his everyday identity, he's a mild-mannered comic book artist who draws a line of violent superheroes. As Supreme investigates his past, readers are treated to a delightful series of tongue-in-cheek flashbacks to revised versions of the Golden and Silver eras of comics. Supreme grows up in Little Haven, rather than Smallville; lives in Omegapolis, instead of Metropolis; and convenes meetings of the Allied Supermen, rather than the Justice League of America. Moore weaves a complex plot that leads to a startling, ingenious climax. He also offers his characters and readers moments of poignant self-discovery. In his superhero masterpiece Watchmen, Moore stressed the dangers of identifying with comic book heroes. This work is a much kinder look at the form, done with wit, intelligence and love. More of some decent Supreme work. Alan Moore and company produce this homage to Superman, and offer some meta-commentary on the Superman character, and the Superman family, with some nifty flashback work.

You could burn all the non-Moore Supreme work and I don't think anyone anywhere would miss it.

5 out of 5 stars How?.......2007-07-21

When you think of all the ways that spandex heroes have been examined and recontextualized in the last 20 years, and then realize that at least half of the best of that was Alan Moore...
The only real surprise is that he keeps coming up with bold, subtle, loving takes on a genre and form that most people still think of as shallow and vapid.
How does he do it?

4 out of 5 stars Beautiful writing.......2007-05-07

Another Rob Liefeld production, luckily this story has none of his art even though the characters were created by him. Or rather regurgitated and made grander than they were by Alan Moores expert writing and artists like Steve Skroce and Chris Sprouse drawing part of the story. But then you also have real sloppy artwork that while is not as bad anything Rob would draw, its still pretty rushed and not that great. If you want to read old Superman with cheese, this ones for you. This one actually took me by surprise as Alan Moore elevated what were once cheap rip-offs created by Rob of the big Marvel and DC characters. Yeah, I really liked the story in this one and occasionally, the art as well. Trouble is Rob Liefeld could really do something cool with these once lame characters he has created if only he had no hand in drawing or writing them. The bottom line is, he needs to stay away from his creations creatively and from comics in general. The man has mediocrity and Uwe Boll written all over his work.

5 out of 5 stars Just like Superman... ( A MUST).......2006-11-10

Only not... and and at the same time yes.

Alan Moore has created something truly unique here. These stories work on so many levels, it's hard to choose where to start.

First of all, Supreme works much like a Superman character. It pays homage to Supes and you'll have a great time just trying to identify Superman's characters in Supreme's universe.

The book works in a metacognitive level because it recognizes itself as a comic book. Through a series of flashbacks done in retro style, Supreme's back history is filled, which would be very normal if Supreme weren't aware of his memories coming to be as they are being read by you.

Finally, this comic serves as a historical document. In its very stories, the evolution and history of comics is retold as the characters are experiencing it. I found a certain issue quite chilling, where the whole of the 1950's are described with eerie accuracy by three witches who look a lot like the banned horror comics of EC. The scandalous book Seduction of the Innocent, which brought about the censorship of comics and a stunt in its growth as a medium, is parodied in this issue. The comic becomes aware of comics' legacy and I found that amazing.

This is a must.

5 out of 5 stars Alan Moore Does It Again!.......2006-08-14

It's a toss-up between Alan Moore and Grant Morrison for the title "best comic writer of the past 25 years". Each time I read a new collection or TPB by one, I feel he's topped the other.

With this Supreme collection, Moore puts his stamp on the Superman archetype and deals with the rash of "revisions" and revamps that DC has done. Microscopically, this is a literary slap to John Byrne's face. Macroscopically, it evaluates - and even validates - the type of continuity changes that have become necessary in any of the "old line" DC or Marvel heroes.

The story itself is very clever and well-done, making use of 50s, 60s, and 70s homages and imitations. The main plot is deceptively subtle, leading to a fantastic climax that I really didn't see coming.

The art is satisfactory with some flashes of brilliance, but Moore's writing is the reason to purchase this collection. Amazing what he was able to do with a Rob Liefeld reject character! Five stars!

This little book is shaped a bit oddly and it only measures about 3 inches by 6 inches. I found it easy to stash in an already full briefcase on a recent trip. Airports are so annoying -- hurry up and wait, people yakking on their cell phones, etc. I just bury my nose in a puzzle book and tune them out. I've done about 10 of the 45 puzzles and find them to be just about right for me: not so easy that I burn them up in 10 minutes per puzzle, but not so hard that I pile more frustration on top of the frustrations of flying in America in 2007. I've been doing cryptics for about 10 years. These puzzles might be a bit hard for a beginner.

3 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for.......2007-05-16

This is a little memo-pad-sized booklet containing 39 small vanilla cryptics, some of them recycled from Hook's _Mighty Mini Cryptics_. On the plus side, the author is Henry Hook, the booklet has a sewn binding(!), and it's inexpensive.

It's fine, and I guess I'm glad I bought it, but if you have any experience with cryptics don't get your hopes up that this will provide you with a lot of puzzling challenge.

                  Book Description

These cryptograms, from the National Puzzlers' League, won't be easy because the creators have taken pains to remove the easiest steps usually available to solvers. Regularly occurring articles and conjunctions are gone; the sentences often don't even have the rhythms of ordinary speech. But that will make the reward even sweeter once the answers are found.

                  1 out of 5 stars the puzzler.......2005-12-30

I loved Sit & Solve Cryptograms, but I was very disappointed with S&SC#2. The authors were more interested in finding quotes that didn't contain words like "the" than they were in finding interesting and meaningful quotes. Most were just a bunch of jibberish. Also, the font used is very small and close together, making it very difficult to read what you've solved.

Although I love to do cryptogram puzzles, I won't be buying this or any other book of puzzles with a toilet seat on the cover. For this puzzle-doer, an instant turn-off. Sorry!

Simple substitutions--that's all you have to do to come up with a solution! Just figure out which letter stands for another and you'll be able to read fantastic quotations from famous people. Don't worry, you'll get hints on how to begin and narrow down the choices. Remember that a one-letter word is always A or I, and that in a two-letter word, one must be a vowel. Apostrophes can also eliminate lots of possibilities. Some words--like AND--occur over and over, so look out for them. Keep an eye out for -ed, -ing, and -tion endings, too. In every cryptogram the code is consistent, but it does change from puzzle to puzzle. So, now you know how to go.give this a shot!

If you love cryptograms you'll love this book! Each cryptogram was a quote by a famous person. The letter spacing was perfect making it easy to read and solve. Each puzzle provides one clue. If you're diligent you shouldn't need the clues. Only one draw back, the author should not have put the clue pages next to the answer pages. Every once in a while I'd go to the answer instead of the clue. This was a bit frustrating.

Grab a pencil, get started, and soon you'll be exercising your brain (and, with a little luck, a few other muscles, too). While you're waiting for nature to take its course, try some clueless crosswords, where you fill in the blanks to form eight seven-letter words. Or, do double exposures, where you first figure out the six-letter words that read from top to bottom in the columns; that reveals only half the letters, so then you'll have to take one from the top squares of each column and transfer it to the blank above to reveal a phrase. Also fill-in stations, split decisions, two-by-twos, and lots more like this one:

The "cross anagrams" and "boomerangs" make perfect starting puzzles, but when the mental juices start flowing, give a "Helter Skelter" example a try. For a really liberal dose of red herrings and tricky clues, "Missing Links" are just the things. But easy or hard, each one is lots of fun and an irresistible incentive to get out the pencils and erasers and dig in.
