Loved this Christmas/Paranormal Romance!.......2007-10-05
Okay this is book 2 in the Drake series and it was great! Matt and Kate are so good together. Basis of story is Matt is an Army Ranger and he has returned home to Sea Haven and he is totally in love with Kate Drake, that scene with the truck was so funny I mean he runs off the road and his brother is just making things worse. It is Christmas time and there is a haunting. I loved the little poem above each chapter it was telling you sort of what was happening in the book. Jonas and Hannah are so cute together I mean you know it is true love when Hannah blows his hat off everytime she sees him lol! Sex was pretty steamy and the story kept me intrested till the end oh yeah another great Jonas and Hannah moment.
twilight before chrismas.......2007-09-21
This is one of the best books in the drake sisters series. A must read in a christine feehan fan club.
Drake Sister series is terrific.......2007-09-20
Christine Feehan is an excellent writer and I've loved all of her books. Twilight Before Christmas is yet another example of her great writing skills, as she excels at bringing characters to life for you so that you care about them, not just the love story. I highly recommend this book, as well as the whole Drake Sisters series.
Good Chick Book.......2007-09-02
Great summer read and fun for adult women. As the series progresses the plots get better but all have the hot romantics interests.
Kate's story........2007-08-14
This was a nice romantic read.
Matt Granite (former military) has had a crush on Kate since school. And Kate has liked Matt. She is shy around him. They end up finally getting together to redo a haunted house. There are ghosts coming after them that Kate can stop with her "abilities."
Enjoyed it!

Every little bunny should have a brother as kind and thoughtful as Willa's big brother Willoughby. When Willa can't sleep because she is so afraid of bad dreams, her brother leans down from the top bunk to encourage his little sister to think happy thoughts... about her chicken slippers, her blue-and-white jumpsuit, and tomorrow's anticipated pleasures. That very night, Willoughby takes Willa on a piggy-back ride around the cozy tree house to check on her breakfast food, her toys in their basket, and the quiet world sleeping outside, all the while explaining in soft, soothing tones how everything in their snug little world is waiting for the next morning to unfold. He tells her that the morning is waiting "For grass to grow, flowers to bloom, and leaves to flutter. For clouds to float, wind to blow, and sun to shine. For birds to fly, bees to buzz, and ducks to quack." "'That's a lot of happy things,' said Willa." Joyce Dunbar knows just how to set the scene for sleep, and Debi Gliori's charming, expressive bunnies are very, very cute. (Click to see a sample spread. How 'bout happier?.......2007-07-04
I, as a non-artist, can think of much more inspiring reasons for a small child to be happy at bedtime. Disappointing and shallow.
Adorable book for siblings.......2006-04-30
My kids love this book, especially when I replace the bunnies names with my kids' names. It's an adorable story about how an older sibling makes an effort to comfort his little sister and she returns the love. Very sweet with "cuddly" illustrations. Perfect for bedtime!
My favorite children's book.......2006-04-24
I found this book breathtakingly beautiful. I love the way it is written as well as the illustrations. It is written and illustrated by women which is a plus. It is a pleasure to give this book as a gift to little ones.
Charming Illustrations.......2005-09-27
The illustrations in this book are charming. The text itself wasn't quite what I was expecting. More about why you need to go to sleep than about "Happy thoughts to sleep/dream by" Still, the pictures are beautiful.
Favorite Bedtime Book.......2005-09-17
This is the best bedtime story. It's so sweet how the older brother comforts his little sister's fear of bad dreams. Beautifully illustrated and teaches your child to be empathetic and comforting.

Not really what I expected.......2001-03-20
After trying to explain to my 4-year-old twins that I had suffered a miscarriage, I found myself wanting to gather as much information as possible to help them through their own grief. I ordered this book with much anticipation, but honestly was very disappointed in it. It is written from the perspective of a child, and while touching (and heartbreaking) did not really answer their questions about what happened. For example, there are many books out there on preparing a child for a new baby sibling, with questions like "How did the baby get there?" and "Why does the baby cry?" etc. When a baby dies, a child has many more questions and I was looking for a book to help them (and me) find age-appropriate answers.
If you are looking for a book to help your child get through the grief of a miscarriage, this one is a touching first-person account but not really a guide to helping the child understand what happened.
I also thought this book was overpriced (especially shipping) as it is more of a leaflet than a book.
NO NEW BABY REVIEW.......2000-09-27
I do not recommend this book for children over 8 years old. It is a caring book, however, I expected more out of it. It shows concern by a child, however, it should have been recommended for ages 5 and under.
I had a loss and when my child finally let out her feelings, I thought this book would be of help, but it wasn't. My daughter was a little too mature for this book and she is only 10.

RITUAL AND BODY DISCIPLINE IN CONVENT CULTURE .......2007-08-11
"Grace Before Meals ~~ Food Ritual and Body Discipline in Convent Culture" was written in 1989 by Sister Patricia Curran, SNDdeN and offers a very rare and important piece of research into an area of Convent life that had not yet been explored nor published outside those convent walls. The food rituals of two congregations of nuns are the subjects of this study ~~ the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. "Grace Before Meals" describes the waning days of the centuries-old convent meal rituals as performed by these two communities of nuns. The participating nuns from these congregations were divided into two groups ~~ those nuns who had entered before 1925 and those who had taken their vows in the 1960s. Drawing upon interviews, questionnaires, and other research, Sister Curran describes ~~ in GREAT detail ~~ the typical convent meal of the early 1960s and contrasts and compares the customs and rituals of these two orders of nuns. She treats the refectory (convent dining room) as a sort of stage on which the nuns are the actors. Gestures, postures, movement, speech and silence were all carefully blended to embody the ideal nun. There are so many mysterious customs revealed in this book ~~ customs and rituals which were, at one time, kept extremely secret from the outside world. Now, for the first time, these customs are not only revealed to the reader, but the nuns speak out and describe exactly how they felt when they were living this life. Twenty nuns from each congregation responded to Sister Curran's questions. These questions were specifically designed to stir old memories from Novitiate days in the convent refectory ~~ Food (quality, quantity, availability and familiarity of diet) Environment (textures and colors, seating and setting) Formal Behaviors (reading, speaking, penances, table manners) Next, the nuns were asked to describe how they had been initiated into these strange practices; how the unfamiliar had been explained to them as young novices; what each nun believed was the purpose of all of this strange behavior. "Grace Before Meals" is a fascinating read for anyone who was ever curious about life inside the convent. The details provided are amazing and most could, probably, be applied to any congregation of nuns.

"Steve wishes he had as much drive to win at tennis as his older sister, Ginny. He knows nothing would please his father more. But the truth is, Ginny is the real tennis ace of the family. It's frustrating for both children that their father ignores Ginny's talents while pushing a reluctant Steve harder and harder. Will brother and sister finally get up the courage to tell him how they feel?"
Customer Reviews:
good about tennis.......2001-03-05
Steve is a great player in this book.He does not want to go to this tennis camp but it seems like he has to!please buy this good book.
~Good Job Stieve!~.......2001-01-27
Stive is an awesome tennis player in his dad's eyes, but he wishes that he could play just like his sister,Ginny. While Ginny is beating the tar out of all of her components, her dad is focused on Stieve with his hard-to-win matches. This frustraites the two that their dad is ignoring the talent of Ginny and is watchiiing Stieves every moment. Vince, a former pro, has offered Stieve a chance to go to his summer camp. Stieve doesn't want to make his dad feel bad, so he stalls for the longest time. After a while,(when Vince watches both Stieve and Ginny's matches), Vince offers for Ginny to come along too. Here mom told her she can't, but it is so hard for her to resist. Stieve doesn't want to go to the camp because he dousn't want to play tennis, and more tennis almost 24/7 for the whole summer. He would rather stay at home and play with his pals. Stive wants the real tennis ace to go,Ginny. Stieve and Ginny both won their tournaments with 1st place. Will the tennis aces, Stieve and Ginny, gain enough courage to tell their dad how they feel about tennis before it's too late? I suggest this book to other kids if you dod or donn't like tennis because you always want to find out what is going to happen next,or who will do what! I would rate this book for readers of the age between 4th grade through college. If you read this book, I hope that you like it as much as i did!
This book rocks !.......2000-03-21
Good job Matt ! As an avid tennis player, I am always looking for tennis books at my level ( I am 12 ). This book is great even if you don't play tennis. I gave it to a friend of mine who has never played and she said it explained tennis really well. The characters are really realistic and I would definitley recommend this book !

Customer Reviews:
A book that grows on you and will grow in popularity.......2003-12-22
This novel was written by a high achieving educator who has sritten a nmuber of technical and educational books. It is about growing up in the south during the 1930s and 1940s and has fascinating stories about coon hunting, playing ball, brushes with the law and getting paddlings in school but most of all it is about a boy and his mother. There are not many books that gives real insight into that relationship on a very holistic level but Wade Gilley who became America's youngest college president in 1967 at age 28 was inspired by his mother to always do his best...and more. The book could have used some additiional editing but surely it will receive that in a future edition.

Why so many hillbillies became successful - A Momma!.......2003-02-27
This is a story of a boy growing up in the Appalachian Mountains and being guided, directed and inspired by his mother to exceed expectations and in reality live her dreams. It is a story familiar to hundreds of people born in the hills and mountains of Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and a dozen other states who broke out and through drive and support of their families became successful.
It is also a story, told in a series of short stories, of a time long past. These stories reveal the enormous benefits of growing up in a community where a child has grandparents, aunts and uncles and first, second and third cousins as well as parents to guide the process of growing up. A time of innocence and a time of comforting security not present in America today.
It also reminds one of Tom and Huck and other tales of a young boy growing up in another time in another America.
But, perhaps, most of all it is a tribute to a loving, energetic and inspiring mother. A woman who went to work in a cotton mill after dropping out of the sixth grade but who made sure that her children lived her dream of a better life through education.

Book Description
Cast out the bondwoman and her son: For the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the free woman. You will always experience Ishmael before receiving Isaac. If you attend a church, I know that you are familiar with the story of Ishmael. Ishmael was born from an affair due to the impatience of a woman who wouldn't wait on God. There are those of us who are married and wish that we were single, and there are those of us divorced because of the same reason. Some of us were not saved and got married for all the wrong reasons. What does the Bible say concerning Ishmael? Ishmael shall not share in the inheritance promised to Abraham. Personally speaking from life experiences, Ishmael can be any number of things in your life, not necessarily a person. Ishmael only appears to be the real thing, but isn't. It looks like it, acts like it, even talks like it, but you will find out it's the furthest thing away from the real thing.
