Customer Reviews:
Fantastic.......2007-06-12
My son was so excited because we planted seeds a nd watched what happened in "real' life as explained by the book.
Excellent Read for Young Curious Minds..........2006-05-30
As a 3rd Grade School Teacher, I found this book instrumental to my lessons on plant life. Ms. Drizzle and her class answer many of the questions my students come up with before we've read the book so I know that we're reading the right materials for our lessons. Great series for the imagination and for provoking interest in the sciences early in the child's development.
The earlier books are much better.......2004-09-12
We were given a copy of "Magic Schoolbus and the Ocean Floor" as a gift. I then bought "Dinosaurs" and "Senses." There is a difference between the books written only by Joanna Cole and the later books that are basically a comic-book version of the TV show. It takes us a solid 45 minutes to read "Senses", and I even learned some facts. "Plants Seeds" is about a 15 minute read-aloud. I say stick with the earlier books.
Great fun!.......2000-04-04
I enjoyed this book very much because it is such a fun way to learn about science. This is the first of many Magic School Bus books I purchased, and I've been hooked ever since.

Great answers for hard or scary questions........1998-02-19
As a mother of 3 small daughters and a prevention specialist, I thought this book was great. It gives easy, age appropriate answers for questions that parents may be uncomfortable answering because of the subject matter or lack of knowledge. It is a good way to start a conversation with your child.

Book Description
In this delightful, “no preparation” devotional activity book, designed to appeal to children of all ages, Dandi Daley Mackall offers you a two-part plan to help you pull your family together spiritually at the start of every morning and at the end of each night. All the devotions combine a humorous quote from a child, fun facts around a central theme, and specific ideas for implementing that day’s spiritual truth. At the end of the day you can return to the questions that encourage every member of the family share to share his or her discoveries and events of the day.
Customer Reviews:
Perfect resource for family devotions.......2004-07-24
If you have a busy family (and what family *isn't* busy?), you probably know how hard it can be to stick to family devotions. I recommend you pick up a copy of Dandi Daley Mackall's "Kids Say the Best Things About God: Devotions and Conversations for Families on the Go." There are no materials to gather, no skits to perform, just grab and go. Each devotional presents a topic, and backs it up with Bible verses, practical applications for the whole family to use throughout the day, a prayer, and some conversation prompts to use at the end of the day. Spend a few minutes reading together during breakfast and you can send your kids off thinking about a Biblical principle and how they can practice it in their lives. Family chat that evening cements the idea and gets everyone talking about what they've learned or realized about the day's issue. Great resource for 30 days of family devotions!

First great writing lesson.......2000-11-20
Writing is such a hard skill to develop because it is so easy to fail. With 1,400 things to be happy about for kids, the child cannot fail. They are writing about things that make them happy. There are no right or wrong answers. The child develops confidence in his/her writing skills and wants to write more. It also helps children develop a sense of creating a diary and that their lives are important. Every first and second grade teacher should include this book in their lesson plans.
A great book.......1999-07-16
If your kids argue a lot and don't think they have anything to be thankful for, this is the book for them. It makes them realize how much they really do have.

Customer Reviews:
Resource for Elementary School Teachers and Parents.......2000-07-04
This book was referenced by several others, so I thought I would give it a try. The author has written the Amusement Park Physics manual for a kit produced by CENCO Scientific, and I was curious what might be in store. The book contains a number of activities appropriate to 3rd through 7th grade, or even a curious adult. The activities are fun, but without some sort of supporting instruction, they become randomized fun things to do with little meaningful learning going on. This might be a good resource for a teacher to use for some laboratory experiment ideas that can be supported by coherent instruction. I am happy that I have it as a reference on my shelf.
Book Description
Why are beavers' teeth orange? Which school is closest to the North Pole? What is a slug's slime made of? Selecting from burning (and sometimes freezing) questions submitted by real Canadian children, Vivien Bowers created this entertaining treasure trove of Canadiana. Tackling questions about Canada's wildlife, geography, and cultures with humor and energy, Bowers presents the answers in an accessible format, with manageable amounts of text, incredible photos, and lighthearted illustrations that make exploring Canada fun. By zeroing in on the information most exciting to them and showing young people how to find more on their own, the book encourages readers to develop and research their own projects and interests.
Customer Reviews:
A good book appealling to the inquiring mind of any child........1998-10-19
This is a good book for 3rd - 7th graders because its "strange but true" tidbit-based approach will appeal to any curious mind. What is particularly nice about the book is that it is NOT a haphazardly arranged collection of factoids, as so many kids science books are. Beres' book may provide information in small chunks, but the chunks build on one another, so after reading a chapter full of them you emerge with an understanding of the overall shape of earth science, for instance, or biology. It certainly isn't a textbook, but it will get readers interested in the way the world works and how scientists go about discovering those workings.
