Great Little Book.......2007-01-10

I bought the whole serious for my 10 month old daughter after her doctor gave her, "Where's the puppy"? at one of her well baby check-ups. She absolutely loved the book! We took it with us to Church every Sunday and it kept her occupied. My daughter is now 15 months old and she still loves this book and all of the others in this series. These are by far her favorite books and she has a lot of books. They are also fun to read to her. Even her older 10 year old sister enjoys reading these little flap books to her baby sister. If you have a baby or need to buy a gift for someone who does, you can't go wrong with this book!

"Donde esta el gatito?" is great for toddlers, especially one like mine who wants to open the flaps and turn the pages himself. Not only does he get to identify the cat, but there are also everyday things he can recognize on each page- bananas, a toybox and a laundry basket. The Spanish version lets me practice a little Spanish on him (and me), with easy and a little more difficult words mixed together. I recommend the series in English or Spanish.

A wonderful book for toddlers who love kittens & surprises.......1999-10-27

I bought this book for my oldest son about six years ago, and he just loved it (we have a cat, and he loved our cat too). It's a wonderful book for little kids because they can participate by lifting the flaps, and they love the surprise of finding the kitten hidden underneath. The book has been out of print for a while, so I am thrilled to see it's available again.

Heartwarming stories.......2005-05-13

A wonderful collection of tales that will touch the heart. Particularly the tale of Simon, I found myself sobbing like a baby at the end, which is generally NOT a manly thing to do. The way Snopek write these stories, you can almost feel the characters come out of the pages and touch your heart, too bad they don't live long enough for those of us that love cats. I particularly loved it because of its Canadian content and origins. Well worth the price.

Incredible Tales About Exceptional Cats is a wonderful book for people of all ages. The variety of stories can make you laugh or bring you to tears. It also can make you appreciate and love your precious pets more and inspire you to take care of them as your most precious treasures., and not to disregard them as soon as they immerge from being kittens to adults. Unfortunately there are still some people who do that because they have neither the patience or the love to care for these little ones for the rest of their lives.

CAT LOVERS.......2002-03-20

This is one of the most charming books I have ever read, mind you having a box of tissues next to you is a handy idea. I really enjoyed the way it was written, almost from the animal's perspective. Lots of enjoyment, light reading and one I am very glad to have in my collection. I'm now going to try the other two books by Margaret Reinhold about her animals in Provence.

As a lover of cats and of France, I found Helene Thornton's Cat Chat impossible to put down! It is a romance of how two very different people are drawn together by their love of one very beautiful cat. The author tells of her life in the south of France with Monsieur and how their ever-growing family of cats enriches their lives. I have read this book over and over and have never grown tired of it. This is a book worth having in your collection!

It was that good! Cat Chat is the perfect book for the avid cat lover and Francophile. It is a story of love, cat adoration, travel to the South of France and a beautiful life. I ordered this book from Amazon.com.uk because it was not originally available in the US, and it was worth every extra dollar. It is a love story, without all the fluffy and erotic nonsense, a story of a couple that loves and admires cats and a story of two people living an authentic life in the South of France. If any portion of this description appeals to you, you will enjoy this book. If you truly dislike cats, don't buy it, as the auther is a real cat lover, but the story is not devoted to cats. What more can I say, except that if you love travel and relocation stories, if you have any admiration at all for cats and if you have even the smallest dream of living in the South of France, you will love this book. I ordered extra copies for friends and family, but my original copy is a keeper for my personal library.

For the Francoailurophile in your life.......1999-12-14

There are some amazing shots of cats in this book, more so, even, than of dogs in Conrad's "Les Chiens de Paris". (I would assume it's more difficult to pose a cat than a dog.) However, there is also a bit of filler here, which wasn't true of the dog volume, possibly due to a smaller pool of eligible photos. Still, these cats are in rain gutters, atop pay phones, chasing mice along yardsticks, peeking over sheet music, performing in a street circus, tucked into a man's four-foot beard.

The pictures are adorable and innocent, but watch out. Conrad's witty introduction contains some racy passages (about the she-cat's sexual prowess, and a neutered tom's suicide) that might make some think twice about giving it to (literate) children. (If "Chiens" is G, "Chats" is PG-13.) For the urban adult ailurophile, however, this is the perfect gift.

A very positive and encouraging book.......2005-11-16

I bought this book for my mother who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL) which is treatable, but fast moving. The family, church, many ministries and people prayed. Our family fasted and prayed, and today my mother is healed! It has been a year and a half since she was diagnosed. Betty's book is really encouraging as she tells the story about how God healed her from cancer. I would also suggest Dodie Osteen's "Healed Of Cancer" book. Dodie is another wonderful woman of God who prayed through for her miracle!

Fight the Fight of Faith!.......2001-11-01

This book was so encouraging to my faith I cried during many parts of it. I was so blessed by Betty's perseverance even in severe pain and with the appearances of recurrences to the cancer. Her candid stories of how much the circumstances threatned to consume her faith--but didn't--were inspiring. We truly cannot walk by what we see, but must walk by faith! A great book for anyone who believes in divine healing. My advice: Read it now before the enemy hits!

Unfortunately I read Dr. Betty's book after my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. But I'm glad I did. This book is full of information for anyone who is going through treatments with cancer or his/her loved ones. I truly enjoyed the scriptures and her candid telling of her triumph through the fire and water. I praise God for Dr. Betty Price and my sister's healing. May God continue to bless the Price family.

This is one of the best book I have read on someone's experience with cancer. What I like about the book was the medical doctor explanation of what cancer is. The author's experience was real and truthful. This book will help you not only to have faith, but also tells you what to expect. So many times cancer patient don't know what to expect or even the questions to ask. The book is well written and walks you through a step by step process.

Good history, could have more about modern movements.......2005-11-22

I uncovered this book while searching for information about Amish and Mennonite cultures. I found it to be a very good history of the Anabaptist movement with very good information about the schisms between Anabaptists and other reformation movements. It also had valuable material relating to the divergence of Jacob Amman and the Amish from the larger Mennonite community.

What was lacking for me was information about the modern orders within the Mennonite church. How do modern Mennonite orders differ from the Amish in customs and beliefs? How do Old Order Mennonites differ from the Amish and other Mennonite sects? How many Mennonite sects are there today? How did they come to diverge? How come some Mennonites wear conservative clothing and drive cars, yet some Mennonites are indistiquishable from other "contemporary Americans"? Are there regional patterns to these divisions?

Some of these may seem like naive questions, but as a non-Mennonite trying to learn about the culture, I found myself wanting more of this information.

Overall, however, the book is a great history. The illustrations are over-caricatured and overdone, and the silly drawing on the pink book jacket is not going to help sell any copies -- but these are minor complaints.

We felt this book would be a good read for someone who is converting from the Muslim faith to Christianity and is also looking for a church home in the Mennonite tradition. We have found the book to be a very valuable tool for this purpose.

Very Good.......2005-04-03

Though Mennonites and Old Order Amish lived in the countryside around where I grew up, I knew only about their practices and some of their beliefs. Their history was largely a mystery to me. Reading this book gave me a taste of the persecution they have suffered around the world for their commitment to peace and non-resistance. This text is remarkably well-written and even entertaining at points. Perhaps good for high school juniors and seniors, adults will also appreciate this straightforward introduction to Anabaptist history.

Good Beginning, Lacking End.......2004-05-05

The book is an easy read, informative, and comprehensive. The strongest point of the book is the beginning up through the 1800s. However the 20th century is desperately lacking. The authors seemed as if they did not want to touch on the conservative movement starting at the beginning of the 20th century and continuing until now. This was an essential part of Mennonite history in North America whether the reader has sympathies for the movement or not. The authors ignored this for one reason or another leaving readers who are familiar with plain Mennonites moreso than main-stream Mennonites with more questions than when they first picked up the book.

I'd recommend Stephen Scott's An Introduction to Old Order and Conservative Mennonite Groups as a beginnier's guide to filling in the gaps this book made in Mennonite history.
