The first thing that attracted me to this book was its bright front cover; and each page inside was no disappointment. The fun colors make this book easy to look at. Each page has a short sentence in both engish and spanish with important words pertaining to a house in bold print. The attention to detail on each and every page is amazing! Then at the end, the reader gets a chance to name the parts of the house with help from the pronunciation guide in the back. This is a very helpful book for learning English or Spanish words to use around your home.

This book is a great! My kids love the illustrations. This book teaches the basic vocabulary of household items.

This is an awesome book!!!.......2005-04-15
My house is about the Rodriguez family and their home. I was excited to learn this family lives near my home. The pictures are wonderful. The author has taken much care when taking the photos.
I enjoyed the dual language format. It allowed me to practice my knowledge of Spanish.

Definitely NOT bilingual, mostly English!.......2006-08-02
As a Spanish speaker I do not consider this tape to be bilingual. The singer does NOT consistently translate words to both languages!
The songs and monologues are mostly in English with a few sentences or words in Spanish scattered here and there.
The singer's Spanish pronunciation and accent are barely adequate as is.
This tape can be entertaining for some, maybe, but I doubt it can be used as a teaching tool.
Terrific bilingual kids' fun!.......2000-08-24
I was so happy to find that Amazon.com had this tape in stock. I loaned our original copy to a friend and have never gotten it back. (I don't blame my friend!) Michele Valeri and her ensemble have put together a rollicking, narrative journey through much of Latin America, using little skits (I believe in her live act she used puppets for some characters) and original songs with a Latin beat. She sings in English and Spanish, jumping from one language to another, but always in a way that helps English-speaking children understand the meaning of the Spanish phrases from their context or her explanation. For example, the title track's chorus goes: "Mi casa es su casa [my house is your house], Whenever you are here, Mi casa es su casa, Sit down and rest my dear." My children had more fun listening to this tape. And as they got older, it even kept a carpool of 5 young boys absorbed on a 15-minute ride to school for days at a time! I can't recommend this gentle, fun, musical journey "south of the border" highly enough for all kids, not just those studying Spanish or kids (like 2 of mine) who came to us from Latin American countries speaking Spanish, and had to make a transition from one language to another.
