This book is simply amazing! I had previously used some of the techniques Scott teaches, but other things he tells you to do blew my mind! The things Scott talks about are easy to do AND can save you a TON of money! I would highly recommend the book to anyone with ANY amount of credit card debt, or even if you have NO credit card debt.

I am in the same field as Scott, and have recommended his book countless times to consumers. With credit card companies raising rates, fees, etc. his advice could not be more timely.

I just interviewed Scott today (8/11/05) on my EverydayWealth Radio program on [...] and he told me how he just got a 10 month old late fee waived! That's practically unheard of.

I can't recommend Scott's book highly enough. You'll easily recoup many times the price of the book if you implement his suggestions.

I was shopping for a book that would help me with the credit card debt I have accumulated. I chose this book. It has proven to be very bemeficial to me. It contains a large amount of information your banks don't want you to know. My first night of reading the book, I got up to about page 70 and made my first phone call, with the intent of gaining information about the account and possibly getting a fee reversed. I ended up getting a $50 credit to the account, relatively easily. I cannot praise this book enough! If you need to reduce your credit card debt, this book may very well be your solution.

I had the same problem most of you reading this have. But after reading this book from cover to cover, I was awashed with a new vigor and confidence to launch a strategic war of words with the credit card telephone handlers. As you read thru the transcripts of the author's actual calls, picture yourself talking on the phone with the same savvy as he. Then close the book, put up your over charged, over penalized, and over interest rated bill and MAKE CALLS! Show them that you are taking CONTROL of your finances and relish the experience of sticking up for yourself.

This is an unusual but interesting approach to the design of business cards.

The unusual is the norm here, offbeat, grunge, etc. Not the type of business cards that would probably be accepted by most of your business clients...but that said, this is a collection of thought inducing ideas and graphics which will stimulate your creative juices...give you a starting point to begin a new design approach when the challenge of creating an image for your client that will be presented at the initial introduction to a new business relationship.

Wow, this book should be given to every graduate entering the workforce along with their diploma. Not just about cards, but also contains business etiquette, marketing tips and techniques, and (un)common sense. Wish I had read it 20 years ago. Required reading for pretty much anybody who has to go out into the world and deal with another person.

If you are looking for some good ideas on using your business card to find (or stay in touch with) customers, this is a perfect book for your library. It's a fun read, and you'll probably think over and over "why didn't I think of that?" However, if you know everything there is to know about selling (or think you do), this book probably is not for you. For the small amount of money this book costs, you'll get the price of the book back many times if you just put one or two of the ideas to use. In that respect, it's a real bargain. I saw the positive review the Washington Post gave this book. It certainly lived up to my expectations. I liked it.

I agree with a previous reviewer who stated "It was too basic...this is stuff any college kid would know." However, that being said, one can't just start in the middle of a topic and write a book. I thought it was more like reading a business cards for dummies edition type book. If you are new and starting out in the business world and never owned a business card, then you should probably read this. Not to say I didn't find a few useful tips, but this book certainly hasn't turned my business upside down or changed my life as the editiorial reviews would lead you to believe. Those reviews were probably written by close friends and family.
I walk away from this glad I didnt pay full price and got free shipping on the book.

        Hi! Amazon won't remove this listing, so I'll just let readers know... the print version of this book is out of print and has been for years. It became outdated very quickly (many companies went out of business, changed their guidelines, changed contact info, etc.), so I decided to take it out of print. It would be of very limited use to anyone who found a copy of the print version. For now, I still sell it as an e-book through Absolute Write. It was last updated in 2006.

        "Sell The Fun Stuff" offers a practical, insightful and entertaining look at slogan writing. Written in a friendly style throughout, it provides a guide to getting started with this form of writing, from finding ideas and understanding the industry terminology, to actually submitting batches of queries to companies.

        The inclusion of interviews with people already working in the industry, such as writers, illustrators, cartoonists and company presidents, is a nice touch and offers lots of interest. The market section itself is extremely lengthy and includes details of companies worldwide.

        The book is perhaps most applicable to those new to slogan writing, rather than seasoned pro's, although it could prove useful to anyone wanting to expand their work to other countries.

        As with any publication including market guidelines, it's inevitable they'll change from time to time, but with such comprehensive contact details to follow up, it's easy for readers to check up on the latest situation or get names of new editors. The author has clearly thought of this potential problem, as everyone who buys the publication also gets access to a special forum where new market updates etc are available.

        Overall, it's a great read, written in a very accessible manner and is sure to prove useful - and be lucrative - for readers!

        The copyright on this book is 2002, but many entries have proven to be outdated or plainly incorrect. I purchased this book with the intent of adding to the companies I was already writing for. I sent out a little more than 3 dozen requests for guidelines and have so far received 6 Return to Senders for bad or outdated addresses. At least three companies have responded stating that they DO NOT WORK WITH FREELANCERS. This, with only about a 2/3 response so far.

        There was also a bad address that I caught before mailing out the requests. Purchasing this book was a waste, further exacerbated by the postage blown on mailings to useless addresses. I suspect there is a reason the book was self-published.

        If you're going to spend the money anyway, put it toward a copy of Writer's Market or Greetings magazine. Don't throw it away on this book.

        Before Glatzer's work entered my world, I was a stay at home mom who felt like my professional soul had shriveled up and died. Call her Ms. Frankenstein, but I'M BACK, and better and happier than ever. I particularly enjoyed her e-workbook on freelance writing. I didn't want to write the next all-American novel, I just like writing about anything and everything, I wanted to be published, and make enough to pay the cable bill. She provides an amazing amount of mental springboards all in a casual and comforting writing voice that makes you think you're having coffee at Starbuck's with a buddy. What a great find!
