Book Description
Love happens; however it is handled best by those who openly recognize it, and embrace it despite its natural innate ability to cause hurt and pain.
Where does your love spread?...
In the petiteness of a ring box...
Simultaneous with the heartbeat of the unborn...
Laid in the thinness of a bed sheet...
Hidden among the obedience of religion...
Wrapped around the freedom of a people...
Or. perhaps,
Planted in the soul of your own self worth and destiny...
Every day every person loves. And after every day there is one moment at least one person vows to never love again. And on the very next day, there is one moment that same person vows to give love one more chance.
Looking For Love In All The Small Spaces is meant to poetically present love in its many disguises. It's meant to enrich. It's meant to inspire. It's meant to celebrate the one thing that cannot be solved. This book allows you to take this feeling of rapture--observe it, hate it, and manifest in its goodness all at the same time. Each poem is written, not to explain love, but to share in both the excitement and disappointment of life--a life lived hand in hand with the delicate gift of love.

The Right Words.......2007-01-09
I think Yarborough's book is a beautiful combination of words and images. I just bought the book. I really enjoy the poem "A Seat Saved". My grandfather passed away years ago and how this poem uses a chair to symbolize the essence of a loved one lost is great.
Sorry, Shana........2006-10-20
Having met with Ms Yarborough for several hours I'm reluctant to give this book a bad review. But it certainly deserves one. She's a very nice woman, and that is her limit. This book reads like a high school girl's poetry journal, full of sentimental cliches and sing-song rhymes. No surprise that she published it herself.
Book Description
Readers of mysteries and cat–lovers alike will devour this second whodunit in the Jacques & Cleo, Cat Detectives series by bestselling author, Gilbert Morris.
Hollywood comes into the lives of the newest residents of Gulf Shores, Alabama. Jake Novak and Kate Forrest have settled into the beautiful beach house left to them by a distant relative. Cat–hating Jake busies himself working on his novel in his upstairs apartment, while Kate gets involved in a beach ministry to young people.
When New Leaf Productions arrives to film a movie, the locals are fascinated by the glamour of the actors. But when a cast member is murdered, followed quickly by a second killing, the town of Gulf Shores becomes worried.
Jacques the Ripper has solved one murder and when he and Cleo are recruited to be in the movie, Jacques throws himself into nosing around for clues—and a murderer.
About this series: For years, mystery readers and cat lovers alike have devoured the suspense novels by Lillian Jackson Braun, Rita Mae Brown and others, in what has developed into the bestselling cat–mystery genre. Now, veteran fiction author Gilbert Morris joins the ranks of those prestigious novelists with his Jacques and Cleo, Cat Detectives series, destined to become a welcome addition to this genre by feline fanatics everywhere.

The Cat's Pajamas ~ Reviewed .......2007-10-01
In the second book of Morris's cat detectives series, the mystery is more developed and more vital to the story. A movie is being filmed in White Sands, and to everyone's astonishment, it seems that Jake once had a romantic relationship with its famous leading lady. The cats are involved, too, when they're chosen to be in the film. Throw in an obnoxious, bullying producer, his beaten-down son, a jealous actress, and you know trouble is coming. Morris throws a slight curve ball, however. Since pretty much everyone is given a motive for killing the evil producer Aaron Tobin, you're just waiting for him to become a victim. Instead, someone entirely unexpected is killed. And of course, Jacques comes to the rescue once again.
The other characters in White Sands are more developed in the second book, as well, including the beautiful veterinarian, Enola, who comes around regularly to check on the animals. Morgan Brice and his daughter, Rhiannon, who appeared briefly in book one, play a larger role this time around. Brice is an elderly eccentric who lives in a shack on the beach and home schools his granddaughter. Rhiannon is a ten-year-old genius who has practically memorized their set of encyclopedias, spouts large words and philosophy, and says whatever is on her mind--no matter how tactless.
If you plan to spend some time this summer lying on the beach, or by the pool, throw a copy of Morris's cat detective books into your beach bag.

Lights, Camera, Meow!.......2007-06-19
A movie is being filmed in White Sands and Kate, Jake, Jeremy and the cats are all involved! They soon find out that the Hollywood lifestyle isn't all that it's cracked up to be. When the acting double of an old flame of Jake's turns up dead, everyone's a suspect. From the nasty producer that everyone hates to the costar to wants a bigger role to even Jake himself, the small town becomes shaken by the murder. But when a second killing happens just days later, the only ones who can solve the case have four paws and a tail. It's up to Jacques and Cleo to come to the rescue again!
I thought that this book was lots better than the first book in the series. The cats get more talking time and a bigger role in this book. They even get to star in the movie! I liked how Jacques and Cleo have more conversations and more opinions on their owners. I think that they are smarter than Kate and Jake in regards to their relationship. There are more new characters introduced in this book. Because of the movie being filmed in the town, many Hollywood type folks enter the scene. Avis, the lead actress, and Jake have a past but their relationship felt very fake. I felt that the remarks by the producer, Aaron Tobin, were quite harsh especially the racist comments he made. He definitely comes off as a character everyone loves to hate. Jake still comes off as a very unlikable character to me. Even though there are several scenes where he helps out those around him (ie taking care of Ocie) he still acts like a jerk. Two scenes that come to mind are when he gets mad at Kate for going out with Bev and tells her he would give her a whipping if she was his daughter. This comes off very chauvinistic because he's acting jealous for no reason and plus Kate had done absolutely nothing wrong. The other scene is when he throws Jacques, who has very dangerous claws, at an actor simply because Jake doesn't like his choice of career. Eric ends up getting hurt but Jake never apologizes which I felt was really distasteful of his actions since Kate had warned him that Jacques could do serious damage.
The mystery once again is a good one. I did guess the ending this time but overall I enjoyed the whole story. I always enjoy reading books about what it is like to make a movie. Overall I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading this book. I just hope that Jake's character will change in the third book, as it stands I'm still not a fan of him.
Another fun CAT mystery.......2007-03-04
Those rascally cats Jacque the Ripper, and Cleo are at it again. Along with their person Kate, her son Jeremy and the Intruder, better known as Jake Novak, they are all off on another mystery. Living in their inherited home on the beach with all the other animals, they are soon swept into another episode of two murders and a stabbing.
This time it involves a movie-making crew and Hollywood stars that have come to the beach at White Sands, Alabama. Kate and Jake have been invited to a party at the home where the movie crew is staying. The reason is to discuss the use of the two cats, Jacque and Cleo in the movie. The producer Aaron, and the director Jesse, are father and son, and are very different in temperament. The father is a bully and the son a meek-appearing young man. The people in the crew that accompanies them have various reasons to hate Aaron. Even the actors and actresses hold resentments toward him. Jake soon learns that an old flame from his past is the star of the movie.
When the first murder occurs, Jake is pulled in for questioning, as he was the last person to see the victim alive. After Jake is able to show his innocence, he is asked to help the local sheriff to help with the investigation. He puts aside the novel he is writing to help. Another murder and a stabbing happen, and no one is able to solve this mystery, until Jacque the Ripper finds a major clue.
This is second in a series and is a fun read. It involves twists and turns making you think you know "who done it," and then finding out you were totally wrong. So when is the next adventure for this menagerie?
Armchair Interviews says: As much fun as What the Cat Dragged Inwas, with these two cat characters.
Book Description
From the winner of the National Book Foundations' 2000 Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters comes a "sweet, funny . . . thought–provoking" (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel) collection of short stories.
As in his most recent major fiction collections, One More for the Road (1999) and Driving Blind (1997), Ray Bradbury has once again pulled together a stellar group of stories sure to delight readers of all ages. In The Cat's Pyjamas we are treated to a treasure trove of Bradbury gems old and new –– eerie and strange, nostalgic and bittersweet, searching and speculative –– all but two of which have never been published before. The Cat's Pyjamas is a joyous celebration of the lifelong work of a literary legend.

The Master Keeps Chugging Along.......2006-05-22
Ray Bradbury has been writing short stories for the better part of 60 years. Most of his work is going to last a long long time after his death. Even the material that does not move into the future is still better than 95% of what is now available. The collection proves the rule.
The Cat's Pajamas is a collection of his work for the entirety of his career. It could alsmost be called a greatest hits, except only two stories have been previously published. So this is not his "best" work. The problem with this statement is that there is not a miss among the stories. Everyone is a winner and that is not easy. "The House" was written in 1948 is every bit as fresh today as when he wrote it and it holds up against "The Cat's Pajamas" from 2003.
Bradbury is still chasing the metaphor and it is a good thing for us that he still does. He still has the power. One thing that should not be missed is his introduction. Bradbury writes about the death of this wife and the reader finds out that she was his muse. It is very short and touching at the same time. Highly Recommended.
Introspective look into Ray Bradbury's talent .......2006-03-26
This is a nifty book, a great sampling of Ray Bradbury that literally spans short stories written from the mid-1940s to the present. While the stories are a little more "lighter" in nature than say some of his other works, they definitely have the same science fiction edge that Bradbury is known for. The stories have a way of making you really think about situations and life, and, as mentioned by one reviewer, seemingly have a "Twilight Zone" feel to them.
A few favorites in the book:
"The Cat's Pajamas": A man and woman, who are both cat lovers, find a small kitten in the middle of a deserted road and both hope to take it home. However, they both make a claim on it, so they have to settle whose it will be.
"All Hail to the Chief": Would you believe it! The senators have gone to an Indian casino and gambled away the entire United States while drinking it up. Just wait and see what happens when the President hears about this one. The President goes to the casino in hopes of figuring out how to get the country back, especially before the story leaks to CNN...
"Sixty-Six" : A man comes across a peculiar series of deaths on the highway while going across Interstate 66. Five people dead, all looking like they have come from the Dust Bowl in the 30s. The narrator tries to solve this mystery, and while driving, comes across a unique and mysterious individual riding a jalopy. Could this man have the answers?
"Sometime Before Dawn" : A mysterious couple comes to stay at a rooming house with a family. The narrator and his family can't understand why they hear the wife cry every night. The husband tries to comfort her. The couple seems to act strangely and say things that are elusive to the narrator. They don't appear to be from here.
This is a great book to check out if you want varied stories from one of the greater minds of science fiction. Although spread out from fifty years plus of writing, many of the stories still have great value today, and Bradbury is able to create unique situations of daily life.
3 1/2 stars
A six-decade tour of Bradbury, sure to please.......2005-08-17
A collection of mostly unpublished short stories from the genre's master. When he's at his best, Bradbury's genius creates some wonderful gems. "Sixty-Six," a story about time-travelling dust-bowl Okies, is one of the best. In general, many of the later works printed here are as good as his earlier.
Bradbury uses "Chrysalis" and "The Transformation" to deal with issues of race by considering what it's like to be black and want to be white (in the former) and what it's like to be white and forced to be black. Even from the perspective of late 40s America, both seem contrived and bordering on racist. Regardless, the rest of The Cat's Pajamas is a read worthy of any Bradbury fan.
Intriguing and pleasant.......2005-08-15
Ray Bradbury's "The Cat's Pajamas" is a delightful compilation of his collected stories of more than a half century. With a breadth of story-telling ability the author delves into everything from ghosts and aliens to human prejudice and, in the end, poetry. There's something here for everyone.
To say that Bradbury's stories are short is not to underestimate their effectiveness. In "Hail to the Chief", a group of drunken senators gamble away the United States to an Indian tribe, one state at a time. Human trust is put on the line in "A Careful Man Dies", his longest offering. The title story, "The Cat's Pajamas", is one of his warmest and funniest. I think, however, Bradbury saves his best for last. "The Completist" has the reader wondering where things are going before a surprise ending is supplied. His final story, "Epilogue", is wonderfully written as a poetic tribute to those erstwhile writers he holds in high regard.
"The Cat's Pajamas" is an easy and breezy read from an author who has been writing for decades. I recommend it highly.
Bradbury is always worth your time.......2005-06-26
There are some great stories in Ray Bradbury's latest collection. Not every piece included here is top-drawer stuff, but there's more than enough that is to make the book worth your time.
One of my favorites was the light-hearted but still relevant "Hail to the Chief," about twelve drunk senators gambling away every state of the union one at a time at an Indian casino.
Some of Bradbury's later work may be too allegorical or not gritty enough for modern sensibilities, but it's clear from the better stories included here that Bradbury hasn't lost the spark of imagination that has ignited the hearts and minds of readers for more than half a century.

I don't know why, but my 15 m.o. LOVES this book........2007-06-06
It's a lot like the Sandra Boynton books (Pajama time, Barnyard Dance, Snuggle Puppy)....very silly, very catchy words. My son thinks it's the best.
Cat's Pajamas.......2007-04-03
This is hands-down one of our all time favorite books. As parents, we love it as much as our daughter. We have had had more mileage from it than most books, as it has served us well for over two years now, beginning around when our daughter was 18 months. Same story as the other reviewers - I found it in the library and immediately ordered it. It is in my top 5 for must own, right up there with the board book of Jam Berry, and I am highly selective about what I will actually buy and alot shelf space to owning. I wish I could find more books this cool.
Gotta Have it!!!.......2006-05-15
This book is a keepsake in our household!!! Both my husband and I walk around the house chatting the versus, and we cant tell enough friends about it!!! Highly reccomend!!!
Hip, beatnik board book.......2005-10-26
I happened across this book at the library when my son was a year old, and now at 15 months, I'm getting him his own copy. Although it says it's for 18 months and up, this is suitable for younger children~ I wish we'd found it sooner.
If you & your child like to play games with clapping or a beat to them, and you don't mind putting a catty-sounding whine in your voice to emphasise certain words (meow, chow, howl, yowl, and growl), this is very easily one of the most enjoyable books I've found to make interactive. This book had my little boy grabbing a rattle and making a beeline for my lap when he saw me pick it up. I'd lightly bounce him from side to side while I shook the rattle (except for the "Hey! Cool it cats!" part) and read through the short, rhyming pages.
As another reviewer mentioned, the length of the text is perfectly suited for babies; Although my son will discard some of his books about two-thirds of the way through, he will happily bounce through this one to the very end.
The brightly accented, loosely rendered beatnik cats and cityscapes/alleyscapes are wonderfully expressive. There's also a shadowy cat that appears on each layout that makes for a fun hide and seek element within the book, although once your child is familiar with the story, they'll have their finger on it the moment you turn the page.
awesome book.......2005-06-24
we stumbled across this book at the pub library when my little boy was 6 months old and he loved it even then. I quickly ordered a copy and it is still one of his favorites now that he's turned 2. He can say the whole ryme now as I turn the pages. Really a good book when you've worn out the classic bedtime books (good dog carl, goodnight gorilla, goodnight moon, etc.)
Book Description
Terminal baptism, erotic performance art, and voodoo economics with actual voodoo are just a few of the subjects that James Morrow tackles with humor and sharp criticism in this book of science fiction stories. Other outlandish tales include John Wayne battling cancer using a highly alternative therapy, a gene for integrity being harvested from the brain of an unwilling donor, and the landing of Christopher Columbus in modern-day Manhattan. Included are the Locus and Nebula Award-nominated novelette Auspicious Eggs and several previously unpublished pieces.
Customer Reviews:
Great Satire........2006-01-02
I loved Morrow's Only Begotten Daughter, so I picked up this collection. Now, it's clear to me that Morrow is a gifted writer at any length. If you love satire with a bite, you'll love this book.
a book for book lovers.......2005-09-01
Everything about the Cat's Pajamas by James Morrow is first rate, from the teriffic stories to the exceptional cover art to the maroon and gold binding. I particularly enjoyed Morrow's sendup of shlocky horror movies shown late at night on weekend television, "Come Back, Dr. Sarcophagus" (an original to this collection). Fun fun fun.
Grand Satire.......2005-01-12
Jim Morrow is one of the few writers consistently writing effective satire in science fiction and fantasy. Fans of his novels will be delighted by this collection of his short work. If anything Morrow's grand conceits play better at shorter length: Alien races battling over philosophical differences; Columbus landing in a newer world than the one he discovered; sports fans who control the fate of nations. Morrow's work is not for the humorless or the unimaginative. He is science fiction's Swift; as a writer he is Gulliver among Lilliputians.
Has some problems.......2004-11-25
I have to agree with the reviewer who noticed this book's political slant. However, I'd like to mention something else about it. I got the impression that Morrow doesn't often venture far from the New York/Pennsylvania area, not only from the narrow viewpoints he expresses, but also because of some glaring geographical errors.
In "Isabella of Castille", Columbus sails his caravels from Manhattan to Hispaniola in a mere 6 days.
Even worse, in "Auspicious Eggs", a rant against the Catholic church, our protagonist priest lives on Boston Isle, created when global warming melted the polar ice caps. Yet he attended seminary on the Isle of Denver. Hmm. Boston Isle must be a pretty damp place. (This story also contains what appears to be some unintentional, given its tone, satire; when our heroes escape Boston looking for freedom from oppression, they cannot find any in the segmented communities of America; instead they set sail for that hotbed of freedom, Europe.)
Excusing these kinds of errors as "part of the satire" gives the author a pass to publish sloppy work.
James Morrow resumes!.......2004-08-19
After an agonizing abscence from the bookshelves James Morrow returns in force with a second collection of short stories. With both previously unprinted, hard to find and uncollected stories Jim has put together a fantastic collection of stories that can find any audience.
From his short plays to his fantastic imaginative narratives to his well disguised social commentaries and unyeilding satire this collection is a very worthy addition that will contribute to the cult legend of James Morrow.
the collection is a welcome sight to any Morrow hardcore fan that has been anxiously awaiting a new full length novel from him, and something in which the book jacket teases us and tempts our palette with the bombshell news that he has TWO novels waiting in the wings!
Until then, there's The Cat's Pajama's and other stories to abide our time.

Book Description
With such enthusiastic response to our reproductions of die-cut antiquarian children's books, we have been in search of more titles that our discerning customers would enjoy. The Cats' Pajamas (1932) is another title from Frances Brundage, the illustrator of our popular The Three Bears. The Cats' Pajamas is a truly delightful tale of a fashion conscious cat and her two kittens. After receiving brand new stylish pajamas, the small kittens promptly ruin them with reckless play, but, as they discover, a mother's love surpasses even beautiful pajamas. This would make a wonderful gift for new parents building their classics collection or an avid young reader. It is die-cut around the cover image, the newest in our "shape" book series.

This book looked pretty good on the shelves. There are some other good ones to consider before buying. Look at The Book of My Pet, Cat Journal: A Keepsake, and My Cat's Tale.
The Cat's Pajamas is a HIT!.......2000-03-28
This is the most delightful cat book I've found to date! It is undoubtedly the cutest cat book on the market. With this book we can now keep a diary/history on our youngest family member. It is full of cute pictures and drawings and now I know what my cat is thinking when she gives me those funny looks. I purchased it for my wife and that's the smartest thing I've done yet! I'm glad I saw it! Thanks RAMAR!
A GREAT BOOK FOR CATS OF ALL AGES (AND THEIR FAMILIES!).......2000-03-21
Now I know what to do with all my snapshots, funny memories and kitty records. This is a creative, charming and humerous collection of tid-bits and cat-wisdoms but best of all, a single place to store the my cat's medical information (annual vaccinations, etc), kitty's family tree (or lack thereof), special moments and photographs. Perfect for the new kitty in your life, or as in my case, for my 12-year old baby. Why didn't someone think of this sooner!
An absolute neccessity for Cat Lovers.......2000-03-20
You know I never would have belived it unless it had happened to me. Cats really do become a permanent part of the family. We watch as they grow from birth to adult-hood. We watch them play and develope their character. Some of us would spend our last dime to insure they recover from some unfortunate accident. We also cry when it's their time to leave us. Over time we all seem to lose more and more of those precious memories of our furry family members. I am so glad I now have this book. I have been wanting something like this for a long time and until now I haven't seen anything like it. This book is very, very nice quality and you can tell a lot of thought and work went into designing it and making it personal to you. It's a book that is definitly made to last and you can tell it was created by a real honest cat lover. It has great illustrations, plenty of space to put those special pictures and areas to descibe them. There are even places where we can put paw prints in the album. I can't tell you how much this means to our family. Of coarse this book will also take it's rightful place along with the rest of our albums. Now we never have to forget our furry family members and the special times they brought into our lives.
Thank you so much RayMar!,
Ron McGraw
This is a wonderful book!.......2000-03-17
I have this book and it is just perfect (or "purr-fect") for us. It's a great "baby book" for tracking all the fun and interesting events in our cat's life. I especially like all the proverbs that bring back so many memories of cats that I grew up with.
