Book Description
Here is a fine new, user-friendly supplementary language worktext for students enrolled in high school and college-level Italian courses, as well as for those who know some Italian but want to work independently to improve their knowledge of Italian verbs. The book is divided into five main sections: verbsÂ' present indicative tenses; their past indicative tenses; future and conditional tenses; subjunctive tenses, and the imperative and other tenses. Verbs are presented with fundamental conjugation information, illustrative dialogues, and additional learning features that include crossword puzzles, tips and notes on verb usage, and a review chapter that concludes each of the bookÂ's five sections. The book is filled with exercises designed to improve studentsÂ' fluency in speaking, writing, and comprehending Italian. The type is set in two colors.

Excellent Workbook.......2006-07-31
I use this excellent workbook to enhance my classroom work; in some cases I was able to better learn a concept due to this workbook. It is very well organized, the information is reliable and there are plenty of exercises for the dedicated student; there is a complete answer key in the back of the book.
Italian verbs.......2006-06-27
I am finding this work book to go along very well with my Pimsleur language CDs. There are good exercises to reinforce useage. I am a beginner learner and am finding it well written, easy to follow and extremely helpful. I am using it in conjunction with Paola Nanni-Tate's Italian Verb Drills and am finding that they explain things a little differently from each other, so what I don't get from one I get from the other.
Finally!.......2005-03-06
I have been attempting to learn Italian via the Pimsleur Method--a listen and repeat system on tape or CDs. It's quite good as far as it goes. However, to really grasp the written language, build vocabulary and understand verbs in some detail, Pimsleur is not enough.
No doubt a trip to Italy would help as would a class at the local college, but the first was out of my price range at the moment and the second was all booked up. So, I began a search for a book that could help build my skills. I was amazed at how difficult it was to find such guide. Then I stumbled on the Italian Verb Workbook.
It's fantastico! Very clear. Very straightforward. Detailed enough in each section without being overwhelming. Don't expect to whiz through this in a couple of hours, but if you stick with the program, it really will help you master the language.

Not the best book of its kind.......2005-12-28
First of all, I would have never rated this book with 5 stars simply because of its misleading name. It's called 2000+ Italian verbs, but there are ONLY 250 fully conjugated verbs. Having said that, the 250 verbs have multiple conjugations, including all the indicative, the subjunctive, conditional, and imperative forms. One of the best qualities of this book is the clear organization and layout; it only takes a couple of seconds to find the verb and conjugation that you are looking for.
A significant part of the book is dedicated to "Verbs in Action". Here you can find all kinds of examples about verb rules and usage, as well as mini quizzes. I have to say that I found this part of the book the least useful and barely used it. The highlight of this book was the interactive cd-rom which was extremely useful in expanding one's vocabulary (verbs included). The cd is very flexible and you can even add new vocabulary terms to the existing ones. This is a big time saver when you consider how much time is wasted on the preparation of flash cards alone, now you can have to program make the flash cards for you!
I still would have to recommend "The Big Green Book of Italian Verbs" because of the quantity of information alone. It includes 555 verbs (instead of just 250) and all the conjugations that are found in the 2000+ book. Unfortunately, the layout of the Big Green Book is not as clear as that of the 2000+, so it takes a few seconds longer to find what you are looking for.

Wayside School boxed set.......2007-09-28
I remember these books from when I was in elementry school. I loved them then, and can still remember the wacky stories. I loved them so much in fact that I wanted my own son to read, and enjoy them as much as I did.
Wacky, hilarious, and a great price!.......2007-07-22
The humour, wackiness, and strange characters make this such a great book for young readers. The very creative stories are quite strange, but they are also highly loveable, and will be treasured by readers.
super value.......2007-05-09
Great set! My daughter loves these stories (and I do too!), so we probably should have gotten these in hardcover since they will get a lot of wear & tear.
Great book.......2007-03-09
I first read these books when I was about 11. Now I have an 11 yr old and a 9 yr old. Neither of which like to read. They both read the first book, and picked up the others and read them without being asked. Now they are reading all his other books. It definetly gave my kids the joy of reading.

Theatre Teachers: This Is What You Need.......2006-11-10
This book is formatted so easily, it took me MUCH less time than I thought it would to prepare a unit on reader's theatre for my class. I used it for my high school theatre class so they wouldn't have to concentrate on large vocabularies, but rather to deliver the story in a simple, easy way. It was a HUGE success of a project and this book made it possible. It tells you how long each story is, what cast you'll need, and what reading level it is!! Yay!!!
The stories themselves are entertaining (even for high school!!!), compelling, and really fun to work with. I am SO grateful I ordered this!
A Great Resource.......2006-01-11
Aaron Shepard is a generous contributor to the field of Reader's Theatre. This book is no exception. It's well-laid out and chock-full of interesting scripts. I've recommended to several folks interested in RT.
Clear and Helpful.......2006-01-11
This book was written in clear language. It was helpful to me as a novice.

The Wayside School was supposed to be one story high, with 30 classrooms side by side; instead, it was built sideways, with 30 one-classroom stories. As befits such a strange school, these tales are a bit strange too. In one, Jason is stuck to his seat by a large wad of chewing gum. His teacher tries throwing ice water on him (to chill the gum to brittleness) and turning him upside down. She even contemplates cutting his pants off. Finally, though, he falls from his upside-down position when kissed (ugh!) by one of the girls in the class. Other tales include a bit of a moral, such as the story of Kathy, whose assumption that no one will ever like her is proved right, or the story of Bebe, who draws quickly but without artistic merit. The quirky humor in this book is appealing to children, and it makes a good read-aloud book for the younger set. (Ages 5 to 12) --Richard Farr

Sideway Review.......2007-05-30
I loved the book Sideways Stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar. Wayside School was mixed up the day it was built, the school was supposed to be one story high with thirty classrooms in a row. Instead it was built thirty stories high with one classroom on each floor. Each chapter tells a story about each child in the class on the thirtieth floor. They are all hilarious and weird like the time that their teacher turned into an apple. I would recommend it for ages seven and up.
Louis Sachar writes very well because he gives a lot of description, and every chapter has a little twist to it. The genre is definitely fiction because none of these events could happen in real life.
There are also two sequels called, Wayside School is Falling Down, and Wayside School gets a Little Stranger. I have read both of them, and all of the books are about the funniest books I have ever read.
MY son loves these books........2007-02-07
They are silly and promoted reading. He reads very well and these were laugh out loud books. I only wish they would make more!
Sideways Stories at Wayside School.......2007-02-02
In Sideways Stories at Wayside School there was a huge mistake! They were supposed to build all thirty classes in a row, but instead of that they built thirty stories high. You'll meet a teacher Mrs. Jewls who has a terribly nice face, Maurecia who loves ice cream, Bebe who is a good artist, Dana who has one hundred and twenty four mosquito bites and lots of other characters, too. Find out and read this book.
Silly Sideways.......2007-01-22
Wayside School was supposed to be a one-story building with thirty classrooms. The builder accidentally made each classroom an entire level, making the building look more like a skyscraper than a school! (Oh, and no matter what anyone tells you, there is no nineteenth story.)
Each chapter in Sideways Stories from Wayside School focuses on a different character from one class in particular: the class on the thirteenth story. Mrs. Gorf is known for being the meanest teacher at the school. She turns bad kids into apples. Then something unbelievable happens (shh - only the kids in her class know what happened!) and she is replaced by Mrs. Jewls, a very nice lady who is incredibly nervous about her new job. Luckily, the kids take to her, and she stays.
Mrs. Jewls could not have known how very . . . unique these students would be. Take Sharie, who "spen(ds) all of her time either looking out the window or sleeping," then falls out of the window and stays fast sleep until she is caught by Louis, the yard teacher. Consider Kathy, who does not like anyone, or Maurecia, who is liked by everyone (except Kathy) but only really likes ice cream. Meet artistic Bebe, gum-chewing Joy, mysterious Sammy, the three Erics, and more. Great for girls and boys. Great read-aloud for the classroom and the home. Simply silly, simply great.
Wayside School.......2007-01-05
The book was funny, because of the end on the chapter named Louis. He was telling the whole story the whole time.First, Dedee was talking to Louis but Louis was talking to a dead rat then Dedee thought that Louis was talking to her but he wasn't and then Louis thought that the rat was talking to him then here comes the funny part Louis said if the rat can be his best friend and the rat said yes, then Louis said I always wanted to have a rat for a best friend.I liked the chapter Stephen.I liked it a lot cause Mrs.Gorf appeared in the Halloween party.Ilove when scary things happen.
