Forget what you know about book writing, publishing and promoting; the model just changed-- for the better! Now you may print shorter runs at prices that make sense, publish your "books" in other (electronic) ways, sell them automatically and promote them for practically nothing. You will discover how to wring maximum value out of your work. This is an exciting time to be a writer. To be successful, a book needs writing, design, production and promotion. I organized and automated some of these functions years ago. The last elements just recently fell into place to establish the New Book Model. You will love it! There is not enough room in one manual to include everything that you should know about writing nonfiction. Consequently, Para Publishing has prepared many supplemental reports (called documents, special reports or instant reports) that are referenced in relevant places throughout this book. You may not want or need these supplements right now, but when you do, you can find them on our Web site (by typing in the document number in the search box) or by contacting us by email, telephone or fax. I am also including numerous Web site addresses for more information. If you are reading the downloadable or CD editions of this book, you may click on the URLs and go directly to the sites. My system works. In the back of The Self-Publishing Manual , I ask readers to send me their books once they publish. I receive 15 to 20 books each week. Thank you for investing your time and money to allow me to share this new book-writing concept with you. I will make sure your time and money are well invested. - Dan Poynter

Writing Nonfiction, 4th Edition: Turning Thoughts into Books (Writing Nonfiction).......2007-08-01
This is a great little book chock-full of information to get you motivated and moving towards writing (or finishing) your own nonfiction book. Where I have been at a stalemate for many years, Dan's book actually has me progressing towards a finish.
The book is easy to read and his "New Book Model" breeds success. The steps are easy to follow and will have your book taking shape in no time at all. (But you do have to make the effort...)
I have read another book by Dan Poynter, which I have gleaned much information from, also. And I look forward to reading his next. In my opinion, Dan is a very gifted nonfiction writer. I hope to be able to follow in his footsteps...
The Very Best.......2007-05-13
The reviewers before me have said it all. This is simply the best book on quickly writing properly organized non-fiction.
I've read Dan Poynter's books before, and they are easy to read, full of wonderful information, and contain no rhetoric or self-promotion. Even if you've been writing (and publishing) all your life, read this book!
This Guy is Brilliant !.......2007-05-06
I've just finished reading/heavily highlighting this book. If you are planning to write/publish/market a book on your own, please read this book....with a highlighter in hand. You'll be glad you did.
Here are some of the things I love about this book, and why I have ordered every other of Dan's books that fall within the same category:
1. Some authors write in a way that unnecessarily lengthens a book--wordy phraseology, repetition of the same info within the same book, etc. Dan's not one of them. His writing style is very tight; he writes succinctly and each page is filled with important and relevant information and instruction.
2. He outlines exactly how to write your book, which is different and better than the way I've done it before. He explains the why and how step by step and it makes total sense.
3. He's a man who loves books, and although they CAN be a means to an end, he sees them as having great value, in themselves. I like that. In a world in which marketing websites, selling programs, and generating speaking careers is often the endgame for authors, Dan's motivation is to create a great book. I like taking advice from a guy who honors the process and the end-result.
There are more things I love about this book, but you get the drift.
I started reading Dan's books after visiting his website, and after about 3 minutes of reading the material on his website, I got a lightning flash idea that will save me about a month on the production of a book scheduled to be released late Fall. When a 3 minute investment saves me a month of hardwork, and probably results in a better book, I'm hooked.
I highly recommend this book and Dan as an important resource. You won't be disappointed.
The absolute best guide for writing nonfiction!.......2007-04-01
Anyone can write a book and get it published and Dan Poynter shows you how in simple steps. And if you're an entrepreneur, sales person, or business owner of any kind, writing is a must to build credibility and recognition. Dan Poynter makes it so easy that "even a caveman can do it!"
This is THE Book for Writing Nonfiction.......2007-03-14
If you write, or want to write nonfiction, this is THE book. I love the way Dan Poynter writes, and I love the way he explains things. If you follow what he says in this book, you'll be up and rollowing with your nonfiction book in no time. The "model book" idea is perfect. If you can see what your book will look like, it's so much easier to write it and add to is on a consistent basis. This book is the reason I'm FINALLY writing my book!

This is a great resource for authors!.......2006-08-29
Dan Poynter is one of the most well-known and credible voices in book publishing. This MP3 audio describes his new book model that makes it possible for authors to get their work in print without going through the traditional book publishing companies. Some of the topics include information about how to find research materials, artwork and quotes on the Web, finding an editor, creating spin-off products such as ebooks, audiotapes, CD's, magazine excerpts and much more.

Book Description
At the age of 17, Samuel L. Broadnax--enamored with flying--enlisted and trained as a pilot at the Tuskegee Army Air Base. Although he left the Air Corps at the end of the Second World War, his experiences inspired him to talk with other pilots and black pioneers of aviation. Blue Skies, Black Wings recounts the history of African Americans in the skies from the very beginnings of manned flight. From Charles Wesley Peters, who flew his own plane in 1911, and Eugene Bullard, a black American ace with the French in World War I, to the 1945 Freeman Field mutiny against segregationist policies in the Air Corps, Broadnax paints a vivid picture of the people who fought oppression to make the skies their own.

Wonderful read.......2007-06-08
At times moving and other times funny, this book gives it all, as well as being historical. It should be a must read in schools.
Product Description
The Ace's Dream I've always been lucky, although you wouldn't necessarily know it to look at me. Take now, for instance, 15,000 feet off the ground in the seat of a baby Nieuport, Archie bursting shells all around me, German Pfalz buzzing around like someone stirred up a wasps' nest, machine guns tracing lines of fire through the air. But not a single bullet-hole marring the canvas of my Nieuport, much less me. Like I said, lucky. A Pflaz roars past, guns chattering. I pull back on the stick hard, pulling up my machine's nose and climbing up after him. I roll to the side and come up right behind. The Hun pilot doesn't even see me. With a grin I get him in my sights and hit the trigger on the paired machine guns mounted on the nose of my machine. They yammer out 650 rounds a minute, tracers lighting the way to the Pfalz's tail. I see smoke pour out in a steady stream and the Pfalz starts to go into a dive, the wind fanning the flames spreading across his tail. He! 's finished. I don't bother watching him go down, not when there are so many other tempting targets to deal with. I climb up to 20,000, the ceiling of my little Nieuport, and look down, spotting another Pflaz some 4,000 feet below. I bank to the left and come down in a dive, putting the Hun directly in my sights. Machine guns roar and the tracers announce my attack, but too late. The Pfalz banks one way, then the other, trying to get away, but I stay on him, my rounds ripping through canvas and cracking framework, looking for a vital spot or the pilot himself. I find it when some rounds reach the Pfalz's engine, which starts to smoke and the machine goes into a long, slow dive, trailing smoke like a flag of surrender. Making a close pass, I give the Hun pilot an ironic salute as he starts to drop, almost close enough to imagine he can hear me, even over the roar of the wind and the crackle of the flames starting to spout from his crippled engine. "When you get to ground, tell 'em Nathan Zachary sent you!"
Customer Reviews:
Excellent book based on the popular character.......2007-05-07
This book is the prequel to the computer game and gives a really good back story. It follows how Nathan Zachary got his start and set himself up as a pirate of the air. There were a few mix-ups compared to the game, but the book explains better and makes more sense, if you liked the character, read it. Otherwise the world of this book is amazing on its own.
Great, A must for anyone who loves an exiting read.......2001-01-09
I must say that this is one of the best books I have read in a long time. I own the Crimson Skies computer game and love it also. This story kept me hooked to the book, I couldnt put it down. The only reosen I gave it 4 stars insead of 5 is because in some areas it gets kinda cheesy and there are some noticeable errors throughout the book, other than that it is a simply riveting story and I was sad to finish the last page.
Good background material on a recurring character.......2000-12-20
Nathan Zachary pops up a lot in CS fiction, such as "Wings of Fortune #1: Rogue Flyer" and some of the online short stories at the game's Website, and this brought me up to speed on him. The dogfight scenes were exciting, although some of the World War One dogfight manuevers like the Vrille and Renversement were lost on someone who's used to the more-modern Immellmann, Split-S, High Yo-Yo and Scissors. It requires familiarity with the game to make complete sense, but it's easy to read and quite enjoyable.
Product Description
New from FASA--a fiction series based on its most popular board game! CRIMSON SKY FICTION These novels, based on the exciting Microsoft computer game (scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2000) and FASA's popular board game, introduce the world of Crimson Skies. In the 1930s--of an alternative-history America--air militias from fragmented nation-states fight to protect themselves from pirates and other raiders. In this America, the planes are faster, the guns are bigger, and life is more exciting. The first series follows the transformation of Trevor "Rogue" Rheese from law-abiding security agent to pirate with a heart of gold.
Customer Reviews:
Great book, but no follow up books.......2007-05-07
I played the computer game that these novels were partly based off, and I loved the world in which the game and book take place. I read it pretty fast, and although the end of this book has a section from the second, there was never a second book made in the series, this is the only downfall, otherwise the book is great.
Mack Maloney's "Wingman" series in the 1930s.......2000-12-16
Admittedly it requires familiarity with the board game series it's based on to make total sense--especially with all the airplanes mentioned in it--but it's a thoroughly enjoyable tale of dogfighting, greed, and vengeance over the skies of an alternate 1937 Seattle. The setting is evocative of Mack Maloney's "Wingman" series, but more from the point of view of the people who prefer and enjoy the balkanization of the USA rather than the people who want to restore it.

Customer Reviews:
Lots of information and terrific photos.......2005-02-21
An excellent book! Pictures are all exquisite - very close-up so you can really see what different bats look like. In addition to the terrific pictures, the text is also superb. The writing style and level of detail makes it perfect for someone like me who does not have a science background per se but is really interested in learning more about bat behavior, their anatomy and their needs. Bats from around the world are included here. Topics such as migration, feeding habits, flight, echolocation and hibernation are covered. This is more than just an overview of bats in general though, there are examples specific to bats that we might see. For example in the section on what bats eat, there's info on the Little Brown Bat and the fact that it tends to eat small aquatic insects versus Big Brown Bats tending to eat June beetles, etc
Batty for bats.......2001-12-01
Did you know that studying bats can teach also teach us about humans? Those with poor sight are often labeled "blind as a bat" but the simple fact is that these small animals do have eyes and several species (like the flying foxes) see well, thank you very much. So what do they do when their echolocation "sees" one thing and their eyes tell them something different? What role does color play?
This book is filled with neat information, scientific questions, and gorgeous color photographs that kids will love. The book is divided into seven chapters on everything from the basic lure of bats, their auditory "vision" and what they eat to where they live, how they look and how to conserve them.
The rich photographs show all kinds of fruit, insect-eating and vampire bats, feeding and in their roosts all over the world.
The book closes with four brief sections on bat classifications, anatomy, scientific and common names, and other books and technical publications about bats.
The type is fairly large, and the text is both scientific easy enough for independent readers aged 10 and up.
For kids who like nonfiction or nature this book is a must. And it will teach them to love these important animals, too long maligned. Alyssa A. Lappen
Excellent primer for new bat lovers.......1999-05-12
This book has great pictures and is full of many interesting, little-known facts about bats, without being too simple. Perfect for a new bat lover, or to introduce less bat-friendly people to the diversity and value of bats.
If you or your child is interested in bats, get this!.......1999-01-26
This book is great! I has alot of close and detailed pictures. It gives a really nice description on each species as well. I enjoy it, as well as my 5 year old.

As One Who Was There.......2007-10-05
I do not believe that anyone who buys this book will feel cheated. It's an interesting perspective of a helicopter pilot's life and duties in Vietnam. To Finch's credit he didn't write this as a query letter hoping to attract a Hollywood producer. I just keep reading books about our war hoping another writer will spend more words condemning the sociopaths like Kissinger and McNamara than the NVA and Jane Fonda--one of the few Christians in this country with the guts to do what Jesus spent his life preaching. I guess this little 110 pound woman was a safer target for these hypocrites than Kissinger and McNamara, who were getting thousands of young Americans slaughtered. In truth, Finch and the others were wise not to do this since it has gotten my book banned in the Post Exchange. But that's understandable since military recruiters are having a hard enough job as it is finding people who can read to volunteer to work for Exxon-Mobil at a tenth of what they're paying their regular employees.
Top Notch Nam Notes.......2005-08-27
It was a pleasure reading Joe Finch's memoir. It was a great anthem by one who spent those years in the trenches. I was one who was fortunate to have avoided Southeast Asia in the 60's, but was a guy probably not much different than this boy who emerged an accomplished soldier and man.
Angel's Wing... is a good read. You will zoom through it feeling as though you shared a substantive experience with Joe Finch.
Satisfied Customer.......2005-03-20
I received a copy of Joes book from my daughter. My tour in Vietnam basicly overlaped Finch's. I was tthe Company Commander of a 25th Infantry Div Infanrty Company and was a frequent passanger and satisfied customers of the "Little Bears" services. Finch accuratly portrays the chopper pilot's role in Vietnam. From my prespective God bless the pilots they not only hauled us into trouble they always came back and got us out of it.
Helcopter pilots flew on wings of angels.......2004-09-26
Do you have any heroes? These days, it seems no one has any heroes any more. We are always so quick to judge, so at ease with tearing apart every action and every moment of another's life that we just refuse to admire anyone any more. I honestly think this is true of most people, but not me. I have plenty of heroes. My 8th grade English teacher, Mr. Donald Duncan, a retired Vietnam veteran by the name of John Power from my hometown and Joe Finch, the author of this book, are just three of them.
I have said before and I truly do believe that the helicopter pilots of the Vietnam War either had nerves of steel or no nerves at all! How they could fly for hours at a time, when in any peace time situation they would have been grounded, I will never be able to fathom. Sure, they were a bit dare-devilish but I think it was a survival skill. In order to do unordinary things, you have to believe you can! Honestly, I think the reason most of those men climbed right back in that pilot seat time and time again sometimes flying on pure adrenalin was not their own ego at all, but for the countless lives they tried to save. I would imagine many soldiers have referred to these pilots and their ships as angels, hence the name of this book, but considering what these pilots did, I would think the angels were the ones flying next to the helicopter.
This small book can easily be read in a long afternoon and is worth the read. It is lighthearted at times, speaking to the antics of a young pilot trying to make his way in the world and trying to survive a place and time few of us can even imagine, even with his help. His candor and plain English makes it possible for any reader to understand the tools and techniques he describes. The book is in no way graphic and yet as with other fine authors I have reviewed, it is graphic all the same. Not in its nature, but in the nature of the beast he describes. I would imagine he struggled with words to describe certain passages in the book that would explain but not horrify the reader. I don't really think that is possible. His words are far from graphic, but the time in his life that he describes is......
This is a fine book and Joe Finch is a fine human being. He says in his book that he served his country and came home undamaged. He married, raised a family and went on to a very productive life. I guess he says this to underscore that not all soldiers develop Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. Not every man or woman that came home from war became addicted to drugs or alcohol or became homeless. Many soldiers came home to function as if nothing ever happened to them at all.In his case, it sounds as if that is true. However, I will say this, something did happen to Joe Finch and two million or so other soldiers who served. I know a little something about our Joe Finch and to the contrary of his ascertion, he has been deeply affected by his service in Vietnam. Of course he has. He has a kind heart not a hardened heart of one who does not feel. He is part of a group of men and women who visit wounded soldiers at their bedside, he writes letters and sends care packages to those deployed overseas and I would venture to say that he knows the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial like the back of his heart. Of course he was affected by his service to our country, and so was I, and in no small way it is because of men like him that I am so honored to write reviews of books like this. Read this book and when you have finished, take a moment and write the author. Will you tell him that you admire him as much as I do? Will you tell him that you appreciate his sacrifices? You should.
Angels Wing.......2004-05-10
The Angel's Wing was a "very bad place" to the helicopter pilots of Viet Nam but to the men on the ground the "Angels" were the pilots themselves. For the pilots it was the hotly contested no-mans land along the Cambodian border. To those soldiers on the ground who were injured or hungry or needing support, the helicopter units like the "Little Bears" and so many others, were the Angels who came upon "rotary" wings. The book is also a story of the soldiers in those helicopters who made the rules up as they went. They learned as they lived and died.
I have had the good fortune to have Joe Finch as a friend and as a professional peer for many years. A deeply religious man and a courageous aviator, he has met and challenged death in war and in peace. "Angels Wing" is a good read for those interested in the helicopter war. Written from the perspective of a "twenty something" Lieutenant, it as an absorbing chronicle of the men who flew in, and upon, the "Angels Wing."
