I bought this atlas because I wanted one as up-to-date as possible (in light of political boundaries and such), and wanted something to accompany a globe I have. There is a lot of useful information at the front of the atlas, so it's not just a book of maps. I use it for reference while taking classes for my masters (logistics and transportation) degree, and my stepson uses it for some of his high-school classes, as well. I think it's an atlas worth sharing with the family to learn geography.

In my opinion, too many of the maps get cut off from the spine of the book, and get cut off in bad places. Also, about 1/3 of it is just reference of place names.

I bought this for my college-age daughter, who was frustrated when hearing or reading news items that she didn't know for sure where some countries or cities were, and that she just didn't know more about the world. I got her this atlas for her birthday, and she is delighted. She says she had no idea an atlas would have such a wealth of information in it, and not just maps. It was a great choice for her.

Colorfully done--full of interesting information relevant to the "world" and even unto the cosmos, the edge of the "world." The maps are exquisite works of art, and like diptychs, overlap and connect one piece of the "world" to another leaving the reader with a sense that it truly is one "world." Well-priced, and well-done, and well-worth it.

I am very pleased with the Atlas, it is easy to use and very accurate. The size is perfect, magnifing glasses are not needed. I have had some trouble however identifiying & finding rivers & topographical features, perhaps they should be indexed also.

Author Amy Hammond Hagberg wanted to help teens--her own and others--answer questions about God, including the big question: "How do you know he's real?"
Hagberg wrote to sports stars, recording artists and other celebrities, asking them to reflect on their life experiences and share how the reality of God was making a difference to them personally and professionally. The responses she received--from NBA players, Christian musicians, 'American Idol' contestants and others--are honest, revealing, and often compelling.
The resulting book is a collection of celebrity essays: mini-bios that focus on the reality of God in the midst of media attention, success and failure, and broken relationships. Contributors include Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic basketball team, quarterback David Carr of the Houston Texans, and popular Christian recording artist Clay Crosse.
Some of the interviews are especially helpful for Hagberg's original target readers: teens. They share hard times they faced, how they became Christians and how their paths are more joyful due to their faith. Being a Green Bay Packer fan I turned to Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila's story of growing up in South Central Los Angeles with a tough background, a Muslim dad and a Christian mom, and how his becoming a Christian led to his current happy family life and NFL career. Christian Hosoi, professional skateboarder, after serious drug problems, is now leading a skateboarding ministry.
The two page "God's Road Map" at the end of each celebrity's story contains perceptive questions and Scriptures. Sports and music lovers will enjoy this book, and it can even be a "past watchful dragons book" that will steer doubting people on a new clear path.

God Unplugged by Ammy Hagberg was very interesting. It is 403 pages long and was published in 2006 by Destiny Image. In the story top athletes, musicians, and also stars tell how god helped them get where they wanted to be and changed their lives.
In the story there were 44 celebrity reflections on true life experiences with god. Many of these celebrities have been extremely low in their lives and god has pulled them out of them. Also in some cases they have had no luck in there lives and finally achieved their goals after they gave there lives god. All of these people believe that god has either given them opportunities or even the strength to work through where they were to get to where they want to be.
I thought that this was a good book. I enjoyed reading it and seeing how god has changed all of these people's lives. The strengths of this book are that it has top named celebrities that people actually want to read about. The weakness of this book is that there is nothing to find out nest so you don't have a reason to keep reading. I did like how god actually gave them the strength to continue and succeed in life. The writing was very boring to me, but I liked the idea.
The book gave a lasting effect on me because I have a saint Christopher necklace that my grandma gave to me before she passed away and that keeps me safe when I race motorcross. So, I think that god has a great power on us. I would recommend this book, it will make you think.

Truly, this, and the book before this, are really awesome books!
** Why?
Because they give some very good insights into other peoples way to God. Not only that, if you don't know the Bible inside and out (and even if you do, actually!), there are quotations from the Bible explaining the why and hows, depending on the story of the person interviewed.
All this, with Amy Hagbergs very nice way of writing (down to earth serious mixed with a nice blend of humor) makes this book a pleasure to read!
Personally, I strongly recommend this book to everyone. It might be those who Seek, or those who have found, it doesn't matter, in my opinion! :)

Sorry to see it end........2005-02-05
Over the last few weeks I have really enjoyed the Mighty Quinns saga. Starting with Conor, finding out about their unknown sister & what happened to their mother & right through to Sean's story. I am sorry to see it end.
Sean is twin to Brian. He's very reserved whereas Brian is the complete opposite. But the 2 share a bond that they don't with their other brothers.
Sean took it hardest when their mother left them as children. When she came back into their lives Sean was unable to forgive her. In this one we find out why.
Sean is working on a case when he meets Laurel Rand. He has to tell her, her fiancee has been arrested for bigamy. Instead of falling to pieces Laurel decides to marry Sean. She has her reasons for needing to marry. With Sean's feelings on marriage it is a surprise that he agree's to marry Lauren.
This is a fantastic series of books on the Quinns & im just sorry they had to end.

Another fantastic read about the Quinn's. Brian is an investigative reporter. He meets Lily while on a job, little realising she is working for the enemy. This makes for some very interesting times ahead of them. And some very funny one's, like the demo & the scene in the lift. It's great to see some of the other brothers as well. I do enjoy a series who bring back characters from the earlier books. I'm about to start Sean's story, It will be a great disappointment to me because it is the last. There are some unresolved issue's with their parents which I hope will be cleared up in it.

Dylan is the 2nd. Quinn brother to meet his match. Meggie has been in love with Dylan since high school, but he never noticed her. She was humiliated by Dylan at the prom dance, or so she thought. She planed her revenge, carried it out & then found out she was wrong all along.
They say the path to true love never runs smooth & this is certainly the case with Meggie & Dylan. This is a fantastic series that will stay with you after you turn the last page.
Next is Brendan's (A writer).

This is the second book of the Mighty Quinn Series. I am actually reading them backwards. I started with Brenddan and now read Dylan's Story and plan to start Conor's tomorrow. I thought this book was adorable. The whole series has been great so far. I just wish Ms. hoffman would continue the series and write books about the younger 3 brothers. maybe Lana could fall in love with one of them? Can't wait for Reunited *The book about the Quinn's long lost sister and mother) next year.

Brendan, brother number 3 carries Amy out of a bar after a brawl. When his brothers find out they tell him he is in trouble. Conor & Dylan did exactly that & found the love of their lives.
A great continuation to this great series.
"Reunited" is next & tells us what happened to their mother when they were children. I have got to try & find a copy of this one before I read the 3 younger brothers stories.

At twenty-six, Amelia Aldrich Sloane ran away from home a week before her wedding. Conor, the eldest of 6 bought his brothers up after their mother left them with their dad. Years later while working, he is assigned to protecting Olivia, a witness in a trial. As the pair are chased by criminals out to kill them, they sucumb to their feelings. This is something Conor has never felt, not having had a female influence in his life.
I can't wait to read the other brothers stories (Dylan, Brendan, Liam, Brian & Sean). They are a fantastic family.

Kate Hoffman captures the essence of a sexy Irishman in America. Conor was not looking for someone when he was ordered to keep an eyewitness safe. He kept remembering what his Da told him, "The only thing that can bring a Mighty Quinn down is a woman...". One look at his beautiful witness and he becomes distracted. Between hired hit men, a possible department leak, and a sexy witness, he forgets what he's been taught. Olivia just wants her life back and doesn't want to be a captive. Enjoyable fireworks. I can't wait to read about the next Mighty Quinn.
