the mystery deepens.......2006-11-03
My 8-year-old son is a big fan of the bionicle toys and I think his initial interest had a lot to do with the bionicle books series. I'm sure many people look at these books as just a marketing ploy, but they are so much more than that. A rich history, full of mystery, adventure and action have been brought to life in all of the bionicle series. The "Legends" series is no exception. Our copies of "Power Play" and "Dark Destiny" arrived the day before we left for San Diego to visit Legoland. My son brought them on the plane along with his gameboy. He became so engrossed in the books that the gameboy didn't get any play! He read straight through! A few weeks later I picked up the books and found out for myself why. The story of the Toa, Matoran, Inika, and Piraka is fantastic. This series is by far more involved than any of the past Bionicle book series. By the end of "Power Play" I was thirsting for more and once through "Dark Destiny" could not wait for the next book to see what was going to happen! I highly recommend the books for boys and girls alike, particularly if they are in to the bionicles. Even if they are not big readers, the interest in the stories will convert them!
Book Description
A new strain of mass destruction...
The most dangerous man of this century has employed the most dangerous weapon yet. Criminal mastermind Harlan DeVane has developed -- and spread -- a deadly, genetically engineered "superbug" resistant to all known cures. A microscopic time bomb, it will lie dormant inside its human hosts until detonated by specific biochemical triggers.
DeVane plans to auction off the triggereing elements to the highest bidder, but first he'll use them to destry the greatest threat to his operation: Roger Gordian, head of UpLink Technologies. As Roger falls prety to the disease, his medical and intelligence teams race to find the cause and the cure -- because in Roger's fate lies the fate of the world...

How Far From Red October? Does It Matter?.......2006-04-22
I picked up this book because I'm a Tom Clancy fan since the Jack Ryan days, and needed to pass some time....not usually a ficiton reader, I've always managed to admire Clancy's use of his knowledge of intelligence and military operations and hardware to weave a compelling story.
"Cold War" is a book I picked up hurriedly expecting it to be on the topic of the actual Cold War, which it is not, it is set in Antarctica--but after the first few pages of initial disappointment, it becomes another Tom Clancy page-turner, which is what I'd hoped for.
I cannot say for sure how much involvement Mr. Clancy had in the actual writing or story plot and direction (he is NOT listed as an author or writer--but this could easily become another great movie with a good scriptwriter or two and CG budget....moving from continent to continent in a flash and keeping your attention whirling.
Although that is conceptually a different idea from the novel, it gives you an idea of my reaction to this pocket book (which it truly is). I recommend it for the purpose I bought it--a timepasser...and a good one at that. It has all the elements you associate with Tom Clancy...
BO-RING!.......2005-11-04
Wow, this is by far the most BORING "thriller" I have ever picked up. It starts out pretty good, but then gets bogged down in several boring and confusing sub-plots. Even the writing style is dreadful -- I kept reading hoping it would pick up and it never really did. This book is a DOG, don't waste your time with it. Tom Clancy did not write this book - I am surprised he would endorse such a lame novel with his name.
This was a bad starter for Clancy-type novels.......2003-10-24
Unlike most readers on these reviews, this is the first "Clancy" book I have read. I put it in quotes because it wasn't till I got home with the book that I realized a ghost writer was involved. The first 4 pages were awesome, setting up an "outbreak" type scenario. Where did that story go for the next 300+ pages? There were so many characters in this book that I got confused repeatedly, and finally gave up trying to figure them out. What was up with all the sub-plots which go nowhere...ej. The government guy and Megan, Thibideaux and Ricci..... The story dragged on and on and finally picked up at the end, but it was too late to salvage this story. If he wanted to write a thrilling series, with the backing of Clancy, it could have been done, since everything he needs is in this book. The problem is that by combining all of these story lines into one 400+ page novel, the overall product turned out to be a confusing mess.
Wasn't as good as most Clancy Thrillers!.......2002-09-27
This book was a terrible book. The content was pretty boring at most times. This was nothing like the Sum of All Fears, or Patriot Games. I only liked brief parts of it. Hey Tom! Pick up the pace!
Not very coherent.......2002-01-14
This story seems to jump from topic to topic without any real coherence. When the end finally came I was so lost, I didnt even realize it was coming. Not worth buying.

Review for Play it Again a Madison Finn book.......2004-09-21
I LOVED the Madison Finn book called Play It Again!!:)If you haven't read it I'll fill you in on this book. This book is funny and is about a girl named Madison and her 7th grade life at Far Hills Jr. High. In this book it's happy and can resemble what your life is like, like when Madison got nervous in front of her crush, that was a thing that you might have happen in your life. Another reason why this book ROCKS is that you can read every line of this book and picture it in your head like a movie, and I'm not talking about popcorn with that (just kidding). This book is funny from when Madison tells about when she fainted in front of the whole school when she was in 2nd grade. I also like this book because it is based on every day life and always has advice and answeres for your every questions. If your a Madision Finn fan well then you'll love Play it Again. My advice to you is I can't make you read this but maybe this review will. My last words I need to say about Play It Again, THIS BOOK IS AWESOME!!!!:)
Maddie Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2004-08-22
Madison finds out who her true friends and enemies are in this book! Poisen Ivy is taking over madison's friends so maddie starts to feel left out since she chickens out of trying out for the play so she is the stage manger. When things go wrong will Madison's friends be their for her or will they fall into Ivy's trap! You will have to read the book to find out.
MadFinn Rulez.......2004-07-12
MadFinn is a really great book for people just becoming teenagers and how it feels. U get an inside look on how it will be ur first day at school and how many friends and enimies u make. Every teenage girl (...) should get a copie of Madison Finn TODAY.
ITS THE BEST BOOK EVA!!!!!
jesi's thoughts.......2004-06-27
I loved this book BTW (MF humor). I know how Madison feels to want something and tries to do it and then chickens out at the last minute so I didn't par-take in her regret in not trying out for a show part in The Wiz. I think stage manager is a great role; she gets to know everything before the cast does and she gets to help with the costumes. But what I don't like is Ivy, yup, Poison Ivy Daly (meddling with Maddie's life as usual). Can't she just stay out of things for two seconds!? She, Aimee, and Fiona are all buddy-buddy now, leaving Madison to watch from behind the curtain again. Even Hart is not paying too much attention to her. But when the fat lady sings everything pops back into reality, which makes me happy. But while Fiona and Aimee were out of the scene it gave Madison the opportunity to introduce the new character Lindsey Frost into the series. She's a girl who can't be excepted, but does that stop Madison. No way!
SO GOOD! SO FUN!.......2004-05-15
This is the 3rd book in the series and it was the best one so far. Madison Finn's grade is putting on a play, The Wiz. She doesn't want to audition so she gets to be the Stage Manager. She is really excited about that but she soon feels left out. All she does in run and get props! And to top it all off, Fiona and Aimee are hanging out with Ivy! This book was used for my book report and it was really easy to do. One of my friends is using my copy of "Caught in the Web" for her book report and she says she has lots of ideas, too. If you want to: know what happens with Fiona and Aimee with Ivy, read a great book, or do an easy but still an A+ book for a report, buy "Play it Again"!

Run, my son, run! And close your eyes!!.......2001-11-09
Whelp, ther you have it. When you thought it couldn't get worse, Nelvana released a whole new form of (...) that involves a really bad translation of the original Cardcaptor Sakura Manga! For only three dollars, you can buy the equivalent of a single chapter of CCS Manga! Or better yet, do the equivalent of buying this book! Take three pills of cyanide, and call me if it doesn't work.
Ha!.......2001-08-10
