A little dissapointed.......2007-02-26
Well, the information is a little old and doesn't cover some newer games either. Although it has a lot of card games in it my one complaint is the books layout. It reads like a novel and games are referenced in the index. Needs a much better layout and bold titles. Other than that it's not bad but really needs a revision.
Evrything is in here..........2007-01-17
Any card game you can think of is in here.
If you are looking for how to play that card game you used to play, or heard about, or forgot...this is the guide for you!
Card Games.......2007-01-10
This book is a valuable tool for the person who loves card games and wants to check on a rule of a certain card game. It is an excellent reference. Anyone who plays cards would find this to be a wonderful addition to add to their booklist.
Best Book of Games.......2002-03-31
Year's ago I had this book, but lost it over the year's. Now I'm buying it again, but more updated.I recomend if you want to learn how to play card games.
Excellent encyclopedia, just overwhelming.......2000-05-01
If you love card games, but just about played every game you know to death and need something new, this is a great book. This must have every card game with every variation of it ever concieved. It gives good explanation of each game, along with how they are played in different parts of the world. The problem with the book, however, is the same. It has every rule to every game ever written. It is not a good book for reading, but a great one to have on the side in case you are ever really bored, or can't decide on all the rules of a game. It is great for anybody with that old game they just can't quite remember all the rules to. Problem solution: if you find a game you like, have a hilighter pen readibly available for the table of contents. it is easy to loose track of what may have been a great new card game. Recommended only for real big card game buffs.

Customer Reviews:
Helpful, but with errors........2007-09-23
This book offered many helpful pointers to a technician who hasn't done hospital work and needs some refreshing on mathematical procedures. But if you're turning to this book for Chapter 7's Top 200 Drugs, be prepared to learn incorrect information. There were strengths that weren't listed, incorrect strengths listed, and the use of the drugs was vague to questionable. The practice tests also differ from the actual certification test. I spent hours stressing and trying to memorize facts and dates that the actual test never even touched on. Some was helpful, but some was not quite right.
NOT the best out there!.......2007-09-08
As a pharmacy-tech instructor, I've used this series and am not impressed--neither were most of my students. A new book (PTCE prep book) by Mosby is available and is excellent. Good luck to all taking the new computerized PTCE!
PTCB Exam Review.......2007-06-14
I train pharmacy technicians, and this is the best, most concise review book I have seen. Almost everything on the test is covered here.
This book is not the best........2007-02-12
I bought this book and struggled through it to review for my certication exam, and I did alright, but I noticed a few instances where either through typographical or proofreading errors the book presented incorrect answers to its sample problems. I also felt that this book's section on calculation review was written to sell the calculations manual available from the same series. If you haven't done serious calculation work for some time, this is not the review for you. I use calculutions frequently as I work, and even so, these authors managed to make me question my ability. There are probably better review books available, but I was too cheap to buy another after spending $35 on this one.
An excellent overview.......2006-05-28
There is a very good reason this series is endorsed by the NPTA. Of the six or so books that I used to study for the exam, this was the most helpful by far. It reviews every topic on the exam, and is a great starting place to see what you need more work on. This is the book that got me a passing score on the exam, and I don't really think I can give it higher praise than that.
Book Description
Ideal for review courses and for individual study, this book is a must-have tool for anyone preparing to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination. Concise reviews of the critical topics outlined by the Pharmacy Certification Training Board, along with review tests at the end of each chapter, assess your current knowledge and identify areas that need further study. In addition to end-of-chapter practice questions, two cumulative tests at the end of the book provide practice for taking the full-length exam. If additional math practice is what you need, you'll find 14 chapters that focus specifically on math and include additional math questions. This new edition includes greatly expanded information on pharmacology, pharmaceutical agents, the effect of drugs on specific body systems and conditions, and drug interactions.

In-Depth Study Guide.......2007-10-09
This is a great study guide for the PTCE if you are looking to brush up on everything for the exam. It goes into depth as far as a pharmacy technician would want to know. The practice tests are a great way to let yourself focus on the parts of the exam that you are not as well prepared for. There are some mistakes throughout some of the question and answer sections, but it is pretty easy to figure out the right answers. I used this in conjunction with the Prentice Hall Question and Answer study guide and did a great job on the PTCE.
Errors.......2007-08-30
Personally, I don't trust books with errors in them, whether they be grammatical or technical or any other sort. That's why that upon finding that this book failed to spell PTCB correctly on the first page of the introduction, I returned the book immediately. For a book from the same publishing company that produced the Comprehensive Exam Review for the Pharmacy Technician, I'm sufficiently surprised. I would highly recommend only two books to study for the PharmTech Exam: The Comprehensive Exam Review for the Pharmacy Technician written by Jahangir Moini and a supplemental calculation book.
One of the best to prepare for the national PT exam.......2007-05-30
I am a former science teacher and found this book was the best out of 3 that I bought to prepare for the exam. I took the exam this month and feel confident that I passed. The book breaks up the material into concise chapters with chapter tests. The best are the chapters on drugs that really helped me remember the drug names, mechanisms of action and precautions.
Genius!.......2007-04-16
I was so angry with this book that I actually wrote down the errors as I read it so that I could share it with you. I wont hammer you with all of them, just the ones I'm currently reading, from pg 111-123, a mere 12 pages, a fraction of the book's length.
pg 111 - 125mg/ml stated in question, changed to 125mg/2ml in the solution on pg 112.
pg 115 question #2 - 200mg/ml, changed to 250mg/ml in solution on pg 519.
pg 115 question #9 - 250mg/5ml, changed to 125mg/ml in solution on pg 520.
pg 118 "PCTB", should be "PTCB" (come on editor, it was in caps and it's the subject of your book)
pg 119 "adult dose of a drug is 2m/kg", should be 2mg/kg
pg 123 question #9 - the solution is suppose to use clark's rule: (wgt of child/150pd * adult dose), not young's rule: (age of child/(age + 12) * adult dose), instead they use a combo of both: 25lb/(25lb +150lb) * dose. Wrong!
At first I was very angry with the errors in this book, but I went through a 12 step program: anger, denial, blame, resentment, ... and finally acceptance. And in the end, I love this book! It's sheer genius! The author and editor piss you off so much you double check all their work, writing down all their errors, rewriting it online to share with you, and commiting it all to long term memory!
It's all I can do to refrain from giving this book 5 stars. I only gave it 3 for that rare reader who doesn't have the time to edit the book like I did.
I passed the exam, but..........2007-01-04
The book does a good job of covering the basics, but it is full of mathematical errors, circuitous mathematical logic (they make the math much harder than it needs to be), and misinformation on physics (e.g. it says that a meniscus is an optical allusion, when in fact it is a real physical phenomenon caused by the surface tension of the liquid).
On the plus side, it does a good job covering pharmacy law, pharmacy operations, calculating dosages, and drugs. While you could study the drug information (e.g. drug classes, physical effects, interactions, etc.) for weeks, the exam does not delve into it very much (at least mine did not).
Customer Reviews:
Great book.......2006-12-22
I had seen at least four other books and this one is by far the best thing you will find out there. The 5 practice exams are just genious. Great book.
Great book for Tech Exam!.......2006-08-23
I just passed the exam using this book. It is a refresher but very cut and dry. There is not a bunch of extra info you will not need. The practice exams are helpful too. Some question were on the test! I had been looking at another book but pitched it after finding this one. THERE ARE SOME MISTAKES IN EDITING OF THIS BOOK. You still have to study alot but it will help for passing the test, especially if you are in a retail setting with no clinical setting experience. Hope this helps.
Too many errors.......2006-08-04
I purchased this review book with the understanding that it was written and edited by professionals. I am into the second practice test and I have found several errors. ONE IS CRITICAL. I will write another review when I have finished all the practice tests (there are 5), and update any further discrepencies.
At this point I would NOT recommend this book to anyone studying for the PTCB for the first time.
Excellent review book.......2005-11-27
Although I have been a pharmacy technician for 9 years, I purchased this book to study for the national certification exam which I had never taken. I found this book to be extremely thorough and it included a lot of valuable information for pharmacy technicians. The book is especially useful to gain knowledge of pharmacy practices and technician duties pertaining to hospital settings. I took the national exam in November and I feel confident that I did very well because I used this book to study. I especially liked the fact that this book had several practice exams, not just one like many of the other review books do.
essential book to add to your library!.......2005-10-23
I took the PTCB exam on September 17, 2005 in Chicago. I currently work at CVS Pharmacy and ONLY used Noah Reifman's book to prepare for the exam. I passed the exam easily and earned my "CPhT" designation using this text. It's well-written and easy to read. The several sample exams are exactly what you will find on the exam itself. I prepped for less than a week using this text and am glad it was recommended to me.
This text makes self-studying simple.
Book Description
This 448 page text can serve as both an exam preparation resource and as a pharmacy technician industry reference guide. Unlike other industry resources, this manual's content has been updated at least one time each year, since its inception, to ensure that only the most current information is provided. The book's material has been thoughtfully designed and written for a pharmacy technician audience. This fundamental approach to learning has been very effective in reducing student frustration. The text has been able to reach each technician, regardless of his/her previous education. Many have found this manual to be the only text for industry training and exam preparation needed.

the only text you'll need =).......2007-05-03
I've been in pharmacy for 10 years; CPhT for 7. This was the only book I needed.
Highly recommend!!!
A good study guide.......2006-04-11
I took the March 2006 PTCE and began studying for it in November 2005. Over that time I aquired many different books (as I suggest you do if you already haven't) to study for the test (Check out the rates of passing on ptcb.org).
When used with a multitude of other books it will obviously take a lot more time to get through all of the books in entirity.
this book in particular is a bire more of a review over many things you may already know. So I wouldn't necessarily reccomend this as the first book you begin study with.
I found this to be very informative and helpful. Every chapter is like a review and it is followed by a series of quizzes.
But if this is one of the books you are using to study (keep in mind studying for more than 20 minutes at a time is considered cramming and you absorb less of what you read) you may just possibly want to begin studying sooner than I had.
This, is no small book. You need a very fair amount of time to properly read through then review all you should have learned by books end.

Great book for the PTCE!.......2006-11-22
Just took the Nov 18 PTCE, and I found this book to be very useful in my preparation. The drugs and literature (a good portion of the exam) are very well organized, being put into lists. It goes through pretty much everything you need to know for the PTCE.
Customer Reviews:
good practice book....would recommend it . .......2007-08-10
It is a good practice book for problem solving n stuff. Would recommend using it, instead of going to some expensive classes, given that you are willing to put your own effort in learning, otherwise go ahead and spend a lot of money for certification classes (which is not really worth the money).
pharmacy tech workbook.......2007-06-08
this has been a really great book to study with. I recomend this book to everyone.
This book is a perfect tool for success !.......2005-02-11
This book is really helpful for a preparation for the National Examination given by the Pharmacy Technicians Certification Board. It provides over 800 exercises and problems for self testing, and hundreds of key concepts and terms. Answers are included in the back of the book.It also contains a practice exam at the back of the book in the same "choose the best answer" format of the National Examination for certification.I had several of those exactly the same problems on my Exam, and I got a certificate !
Excellent Pharmacy Tech Exam Review Workbook.......2001-03-01
This is an excellent workbook for the PTCB exam. The examples are clear and they don't expect you to already know medical terminology. The vocabulary is clearly explained. There could have been more practice math problems, though. However, be aware that it is not a comprehensive textbook. You'll also need to purchase the textbook that goes with it, The Pharmacy Technician by Shrewabury, Medina, Cordiale et al. They're both excellent books. Together, they make a complete and understandable review guide to the PTCB exam.
The Book For Certification Preparation.......1999-02-10
This new book offers you an excellent choice for your home study or classroom use. This book will give you all the information you need to pass the national certification examination offered by; The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board; PTCB. Joe Medina has done excellent and you will benefit. This is the companion book to; "The Pharmacy Technician" by Morton Publishing 1999.
