Tarot Cards.......2007-06-08
The Tarot Card set came with a book informing you of each character and minor characters as well. It explained different card layouts with another little book to help interpret what the meaning of each card is. It also comes with a poster to look at for refrence. I think if your just getting into the idea of reading tarot cards this would be the set to start out with. It has all the information needed to get know what your doing. It also goes in depth so you can apply your knowledge and become more advenced with your readings. Since your constantly looking at the meaning of the cards you get know what your talking about pretty quick. It's fun to have around for parties and hanging out. Good times!

This is one of the best decks available. It's well thought out with beautiful artwork, and that is enough to make it a worthy purchase. But it gets better: this deck resonates very well with women, and I often notice that readings with this deck move women more deeply and powerfully than the same reading with another deck. I believe there is also a workbook for this deck, which I've heard good things about.

This is a beautiful deck. I love how it portrays the goddesses of different regions and focuses the minor arcana on the paths of four specific goddesses (Freya for Wands/Staves, Venus for Cups, Isis for Swords, Lakshmi for Pentacles). One slight complaint that the Venus Cup cards look too Medieval for the Roman goddess of beauty and love, but this is beautifully illustrated and easy to use. One of my favorite decks! :D
An interesting, untraditional deck.......2007-02-01
I picked up the goddess tarot some years ago mostly on a lark and a wish to see something new. While I hardly regret adding it to my collection; the deck sadly remains just that for me...a collector's item.
The stock of the cards is good- it is neither too stiff nor too delicate. This would make it very easy to work with if the cards were not nearly perfectly square and oversized in their width. Larger than the average hand, their nearly square shape can make handling them tricky for shuffling or holding steady if you prefer to lay your cards out by holding the deck to concentrate, rather than setting it down and doing so.
The art in this deck is very lovely- but do not expect the Major Arcana to make much sense to you right off if you go by traditional tarot. The majority of them have had their titles and some of their meanings as well changed.
Also if you are one who prefers balance in male and female in their decks, this one will feel very unbalanced to you. True to it's word, this deck is pretty much all about the goddesses in the world. Thus many of the cards traditionally identified with male energies are lacking the according symbolism or have been removed entirely among the major arcana and new ones invented in their place.
If you are a collector or a reader looking for a deck to get a feminine view on matters: the goddess tarot is for you. If you're new to tarot or seeking a traditional deck- it's suggested you look elsewhere.

The Goddess Tarot is by far my favorite tarot deck. This pocket-sized version is a must have for lovers of the full-sized cards! I found the original deck is a little too large to fit comfortably in my purse, but this smaller deck is just right and now can be carried with me everywhere.
The artwork is a little less richly colored but still just as detailed. The cards are just the right size; not too small to shuffle comfortably/effectively but compact enough to travel with daily.

Okay, I admit it. I actually bought this for the artwork on the cards. I'm not really a big fan of tarot or oracles and such, but I just love the work of Hrana Janto.
That being said, I found that I was also was quite fascinated with the book that accompanies the cards. Goddess in so many forms, from so many cultures, so many aspects. Quite an interesting read.
I'd recommend this set to anyone who enjoys inspired illustration, and to anyone who is interested in historical and multi-cultural concepts of the goddess. Even if you don't want to use the cards as an oracle, the set it worth having for many other reasons.
Beautiful, intuitive deck.......2007-03-29
I had an amazing reading done with this deck a year ago and finally bought it for myself. It's great! The artwork is beautiful and I find the cards really speak to me. The book is good for a quick overview of each goddess but there's so much symbolism in each card, you can let the images guide you on their own.

This deck of divination cards is excellent for anyone who is interested in goddesses from different cultures, as well as Tarot enthusiasts, alternative religions, or just in pretty artwork. Hrana Janto, the artist who painted the deck, worked hard to make each goddess both representative of the traditional symbolism surrounding her religion, as well as the various ways women "are" in the world. We have round, full-bodied women, young, old (the Sheila Na Gig is amazing, for example), thin, black, white, and all shades in between. There are women in the deck who could be supermodels, and some who look like they've had (and are proud of having) a couple of children. And all are reverence with the "goddesses in every woman" theory of all bodies and beauties being wonderful.
The deck opens itself up for a number of personalized types of readings for the person who is looking for answers. You can use mutliple spreads or just one card.
I recommend this deck as highly as I can, and the new US Games version has more durable cards, and are smaller as well, which could work a lot better for smaller hands to shuffle.
The fine research into goddess traditions done by Marashinsky is still relevant, and I think this deck & book would make a great Christmas present. In fact, that's how I received it, and it is a welcome member of my Tarot collection.

This is a great deck. I am suprised that some of the Deities were included whilst others were not. Example -- Kubera was not included but Vamana was. There were also two different cards for Kali, and Shiva -- and understandably so, but I felt that the selection of cards could have been rounded out better.
The art is fantastic and the cards are high quality. The smell is familiar as it reminds me of some of my Ashram experiences -- although I can't put my finger on what the scent is.
I recommend this card set to anyone interested in Yoga, Hindu Theology/Mythology, as well as tarot readers looking to connect with the energies of the East.

If you are a fan of Indra Sharma, or if you have his other deck, The Gita Deck, then you MUST have this deck as well. Once again, the gorgeous artwork pictured on each card make this a mini masterpiece - delighting fans of Hindu art.
Many diverse and unique gods and goddesses are featured - some that I was totally unacquainted with plus the more familiar ones such as Hanuman and Ganesha. On the back of the card you will find mantras along with a listing of what they are helpful with (ex: removing obstacles).
This is a great way to honor the colorful gods featured in the Hindu religion - or to introduce them to those of us who want to learn more.

Beginning reasonable...Ending unsatisfying.......2007-07-02
This book starts out as a reasonable "grab in". It depicts the story of a young girl, "Kitty" (later young lady), who has trouble grasping freedom as her own. She later meets a young man, Grady, who's driven by hatred and past sorrows. She begins to have feelings for the man (who's really a young boy) but is almost driven away from him because of his anger and frustration, mainly at white people. This book appears to have the value of forgiveness, but in the end it gives the imnpression that money resolves Grady's anger problems. Also, their relationship, "Kitty" and Grady, seems based on dashing looks and not of true love. The part of faith in this story is not "preachy" at all which is good, but almost has a "backseat" in the whole of the story. Faith has to be a main part otherwise you can't imagine all the main character's happy endings. I believe this to be a good read as far as storyline, but the moral of the story doesn't seem to play out well enough for you to understand.
A great Book.......2007-04-09
This was the first book I've read by Lynn Austin and I just finished reading another one by her called Hidden Places. Both books are excellent. In a Light to my Path, she really shows how only God can take a horrible situation and use it for good.
The characters were very well developed, especially as you continued to discover more and more about them. Grady's character was wonderful in that I felt his rage, his anger, his unbelief and Kitty (Anna)'s character made me cry.
Although the end could have been a little bit more...something, the book was an enjoyable read. I would recommend her books to anyone who is looking for a fresh and unique voice in the Christian book world.

very interesting book. i really enjoyed it. only problem was thatt the language of the people (slave owners, slaves...) did not match the characters, along with the region and time period they were living in. otherwise, very very well-written.

It took me a while to get into this book in the beginning because I hate reading how a slave is being torn away from his family and being sbused by his owner. It got better as I kept reading when the story start to show some hope for the slaves. It's amazing to see how ignorant America was back then and how we still are today!
Civil War Historical Fiction- A Slaves Perspective.......2006-06-28
This book is one of those that can be easily read in one sitting. It's the 3rd in a series, depicting slaves' perspectives living through slavery and the civil war. I was gripped at the abuse and portrayal of what it was like to be owned by someone. The realization that one could be ripped away from loved ones or because of the whim of an owner be whipped and/or sent down to "slave row". Mercy was rarely received, and was truly a gift when given.
The sovereignty of God is weaved throughout the pages, as the reader can see how seemingly cruel events were used later to save and protect. God's unconditional love and faithfulness were also portrayed.
I liked how the author used kind-hearted, loving, God-fearing white people in this series to show that not everyone from the white race, or down south were hateful towards the slaves.
The author did a great job of ending this 3 book series. One of the main characters, Grady, was introduced in the first book. The ending was sweet. It could have extended further for additional reunions from others from the first book, but it still is an excellent read.

Excellent Civil War Series.......2007-06-09
This is an excellent series of books on the Civil War! Although the story line is fictional, they are laced with true history regarding the Civil War. I could hardly put these books down, wondering what would happen next or what decisions the characters would make. We are homeschoolers, and I plan to have my high schoolers read the series for part of our Civil War History unit. They will love them!!!
Great History Lesson For Teens.......2007-03-30
We read the Chronicles of the Kings by Lynn Austin as a family, and because of that (they were "awesome"), my 15 year old daughter wanted to read everything possible that Lynn Austin has written. She read the Refiner's Fire and loved them so much she couldn't put them down, and even read one of the books twice. These volumes will teach your child more about the Civil War that will be unforgettable then any history textbook you'll ever find on the subject.

Amazing series of 3 books from 3 different points of view. These books were heart-tugging page turners! I felt like I really got to know the characters. I felt like I was there in the 1860's.
Fantastic historical fiction. By far one of my favorite series of books. They can even stand alone, especially # 2.

These books grab you and don't let go..... I read Candle in the Darkness twice now and the second time was better because you can really grasp the message. I hope she will continue this series in another book putting them all together.
Refiner's fire series.......2006-05-02
I just finnished the third book in this series and have been very impressed with the stories. I really enjoyed Fire by Night. The stories had great messages of courage and enduring the trials that God puts into our lives to mold and shape us so we can become His. The books, though religious in nature, were not obviously one denomination or another. They just held simple truths that all christian religions could appreciate. GOOD STUFF!!!!!!!!!!

Teaching can be a stressful career. This book has a glossary of topics that concern teachers and those who work within the schools. Each topic has a verse from the bible and then an anecdotal story from a teacher that concerns that verse from the bible. Reading these personal stories along with the biblical passages really puts things in perspective for me personally. This is a great book that I suggest every teacher ought to buy!

Knowing Tony Arnold personally, I can tell you this is a life changing book that you should not miss. It will open new ideas and maybe question some of the teaching that organized religion has taught us. To be "religious" and to be "spiritual" has many differences. Tony presents spirituality in a manner that is not always easy to comprehend. It is not meant to be a 'fast' read but to learn as we go along. I have to admit, that knowing him, I did the fast read and then went back to study it. I still have much to learn and consider myself in first grade as far as my spirituality is concerned and Tony is in advanced college courses. We have all been to depths of despair and God used Tony's despair to impart an important message to us. Don't miss the answers to changing your life.

We're all searching for answers in our lives no matter what `stage of life' we're in. We wonder why we're miserable, unhappy, why we have low self-confidence or why we feel we're getting nowhere.
