This was great review for me. I am in my second term of college Spanish. Some of the stuff is a little too easy though, but if you have never heard any Spanish this will be perfect for you. It goes slow, and it's easily understood.

The folks at Berlitz must be getting desperate. Another listen-and-repeat songbook? One hour with ANY OTHER WORKBOOK will teach you the Spanish you need to "get by". If you're a more serious student, just buy a more serious product. The bottom line is: this product just doesn't work and it's not in the least charming. The reviewers who give five stars are Berlitz employees and most of the reviews you're reading are sales pitches.

The consumer should be aware that Berlitz, INC has become a notorious exaggerator of its own worth. Critiques of Berlitz-related products are often so gushy and ecstatic with delight that they leave the reader believing that they could only have been written by Berlitz staff.
Berlitz products are notorious among foreign-language education professionals for their lack of exercises, their scanty grammatical explanations, their inflated prices, and the flashy pseudo-science of their famous "method" (a gussied-up listen-and-repeat scheme). The informed consumer will take the time to compare Berlitz "method" products with other, often university-related course supports. The focus of university-generated products is generally less on the marketing and the cultivation of repeat-buyers and more neutrally, disinterestedly geared towards the linguistic enrichment of the student.
The business traveller is particularly ill-served by methods that promise enormous bounds in fluency across short time periods. These travellers often find themselves seduced by grandiose promises--often while under high-stress conditions [foreign travel, foreign-language presentation preparations]--and end up rather disappointed for having been duped.
Any "method" that claims to produce fast, effortless results is suspect. Most "methods" are marketing illusions dreamed up by sales teams.
The Berlitz method, in my opinion and in that of many language professionals, is the foreign-language-learning equivalent of a get-rich-quick scheme. I have been disappointed by their products and teaching in every case I have ever crossed WITHOUT EXCEPTION.

How can a book that proclaims itself as a healthy cookbook not have any nutritional information on any of the recipes? There were very few (black and white!) pictures and all the recipes seemed boring and uninspired. I would not recommend this book to anyone that likes food.

I was excited to get this book, hoping for some great ideas for meals for one. Instead what I got was a book with plenty of "dip" recipes and salad dressing recipes. Also a section on the cooking of plantains. There is one recipe with beef (ground beef with frozen veggies... yum! not!) and one with chicken. Save your money and forget this book. I may just return it and get my money back.
Inspiring book with good taste.......2004-09-22
Very nice addition to my cookbook collection. I have a tendency to think bigger and complicated is better. This book is a very nice reminder that the right combination of foods can go very well together quickly and without too much fuss. Simple living is alive and well and sometimes it tastes good too. Photos make the cookbook for me and this one has photos that say it all.

Great piece of historical detective work.......2007-04-08
I was amazed that such a thoroughly researched book could be so easy to read. I couldn't put it down. Mr. Richardson reveals the very essence of the primitive Christian faith and shows how it is even more relevant today. He explains why the Hebrew Roots movement is important and how it relates to the restoration of the Davidic kingdom and the coming of Messiah. He also shows how Jewish tradition is the foundation of many of our Christian beliefs and customs. This book not only gives a clear picture of the past, but also shows how rediscovering the roots of our faith is the first step in finding true salvation.
A solid book........2005-10-06
The author states that the book's purpose is to explain the 'phenomenon' of Christians from every denomination being drawn to seek out their religion's origins, stripped of the dressings of modern Christian doctrines. And that is what it proceeds to do.
The book gives wonderfully thought out historical-context useful to both Christians seeking a more Hebraic understanding, and other people trying to understand what's going on, or have an interest in Christianity's Hebraic origins. Rick explains why the phenomenon is happening and backs his beliefs with solid scripture and history, not in an effort to preach, but to share with people what he believes is happening.
Even the more controversial topics (and believe me, they are) are solidly covered and shown in a historical light you may not have known was even possible.
I give this book a five for covering exactly what it claims to in a concise and thorough way.

The book is easy to read, simple to check against Scripture and provides profound insight free of a personal agenda that is not always found in current publications. My view is that if the author/publisher needs to resort to SPAM to drum up interest then that fact in itself speaks volumes for the work. On that basis alone I wouldn't touch it with a pole.

As a student of naturalhorsemanship I can't say enough good things about this book. Kate has created a wonderful blend of story and infomation. Books on NHS can be difficult to read and absorb. They also tend not to give a sense of the time that can be involved along the way. Of elements like learning your timing and feel, and how that plays into the learning process...for the trainer and the horse. Kate provides a wonderful narative along with the information that gives others interested in this approach a sense of the time involved. Not that it takes a LONG time, but when you see an experienced horseman get through to a horse in a few hours... and it takes you a few weeks, that can be discouraging ... you see in Kates story it does take some time..it does for EVERYONE that adopts this approach to working with horses... and sometimes it cold out, and sometimes its raining and you are wet to the skin... and that you're there for as long as it takes... and when you look back in a few months to see how far you and your horses have come, thats when you see the results and the progress in both of you...
This approach works for all horses, all owners/trainers and you don't have to be 'handy' with a rope when you start.. you just have to have the conviction to keep going out there and trying again.. and again.. until it starts to come together...
A really good read for those curious about the 'horse whisperer' tactics to find out whats really happening and that its not magic, its basic communication...

An invaluable training aid for those of us with youngsters and of course anyone interested in Natural Horsemanship looking to broaden your understanding of the equine mind.
