I went to a conference in Florida and attended a workshop held by Ellen Gottesdiener. She's amazing in person and for a Requirements Management nerd like me, inspiring. She reminds you to use common sense and helps "string" it all together - models, specifications, stakeholder charts, etc. When I found out that this book was available, we ordered it for all our Business Analysts as a quick guide/reference. I use mine to help mentor other Analysts on a daily basis. I recommend this memory jogger if you are accountable for producing requirements and need a refresher or this is your first time. Very helpful and easy to read for all level of Analysts.

I just got my copy (so it is still available). There is little I can add to the other reviews, other than support them wholeheartedly.
Writing style is very clear. Coverage is comprehensive. Standardized headers, icons, tables, and lists communicate ideas concisely.
Examples, examples, examples ...
One thing that makes this booklet more valuable than many other requirements texts is the wealth of examples. Everything is illustrated through its own realistic well-chosen example. The examples show you exactly what a particular output (model, diagram, text fragment, table, ...) should look like. Not just abstract, generic advice, but instantiated, concrete stuff to prove that you can actually follow the advice.

I switched over from systems development to BSA (business systems analysis) work, and found this book to be a good primer and reference. I'm not sure if it is in print any longer.

Whether you work on huge, complex, international projects for one of the Fortune 50 or you are putting together a family reunion, you will find something of value in this little book. But don't let either the size of the book (pocket) or the size of the print (small) fool or intimidate you. The ideas are clear and accessible.
These two consultants have written a project management book for our times. Their approach is team-based and collaborative -- particularly useful for those of us who work in organizations that use teams but still think in functional silos -- as well as practical and flexible. Personally, I have always found other project management models to be too complex, too highly delineated, and too quantitative. This approach is logical, fact-based, and flexible enough for me to work the parts that apply and skip the ones that don't.
I highly recommend the book as well as the approach. If you want to get the full benefit of their methodology, bring the authors in for in-house training. That way, the kinesthetic and auditory processors in your organization will "get it" even better.

This pocket-size book is an excellent reference book to be kept under hand for those who need being reminded when working in a team. Since we are a part of a team everywhere (at the university, at work, at professional projects, in our daily lives), this book appeals to merely everyone. The book does not only focus on teamworking at workplace, but gives tips one may need for any productive teamwork. Five major topics of the book comprises tips, each of which is illustrated, and supported by real-life examples. Every topic commences with Start-up Checklist, which addresses the common mistakes of team workers, and helps to highlight the reader's pitfalls. The day after I bought it my boss asked me to build a priority matrix. I didn't bat an eyelash. I went back to my desk and 15 minutes later I emailed him a priority matrix for our project. I had to get this for an MBA class I am currently taking. It provides summaries and examples of common business tools in a small package. It's a great reference guide. I didn't do a lot of searching, but for the little searching I did, Amazon had the lowest price.
Tools for excellence.......2006-06-30
This book is set up for anyone to have many tools for them to use at anytime. It has flowcharting, public speaking, many diagrams, and several team based exercises to help become better. In the front of the book it has a tool selector, and it takes some of the guess work out of tool selection.This is just one of many great books this company offers. Our copmany uses several of these in our professional training with our clients. This is a really good book for those looking for continuous improvement. The Memory Jogger Plus is an excellent book also and has many great tools and other goodies.

This book is wonderful! As an Early Interventionist working with 0-3 year olds I was looking for a resource that was very parent friendly. This book address many of the issues parents of toddlers face and gives practical family friendly advice on how to handle it. I think parents and professionals can benefit from reading this book because it is fascinating to learn why toddlers do certain things. I loved this book!!!

I really thought this book would have a little more backround information. Like the above reviewer I felt it was very light. I don't think I would have purchased it if I had seen it in a store and flipped through the book. The most helpful section was on hitting, but it was still basically common sense or repeats of other information I have read.

This book provides a quick and easy reference to common toddler behaviors. It is well researched and presented in a quick and easy format. It's not an in-depth child development or behavior modification book but does provide a handy format to look up target issues, find out why your child does things in a certain way or at a certain age, and offers tips for coping with the behaviors. Sometimes just knowing the why behind something is enough for a frustrated parent.

This book shouldn't be called a book. The information is so light weight I would classify it as a compilation of articles from parents magazine. You can find this stuff anywhere, just go to babycenter and you will get the same, if not better information. Not enlightening, unless you have done zero research. So annoyed I payed for this thing!

This book isn't rocket science... But it is a great way to gain some sanity and understanding when your toddler is driving you mad. It explains why children do what they do, and that in most cases, annoying toddler behaviors are important developmental milestones and NOT just a child being 'naughty.'

Provocative And Interesting Look At Holocaust!.......2002-08-30
This is a quite provocative and immensely fascinating investigation into the long-standing controversy over the degree to which the Polish people were complicit in the holocaust. This an issue that has been hotly debated for decades, in fact since it was first raised as a possibility ion the late 1940s. Given the degree to which millions of otherwise persecuted Jews had fled to the more tolerant attitudes of the Poles during the decades before the war, it was somewhat surprising that the accusations arose in the first place. Yet the way in which the Holocaust first began to flourish and spread throughout the small villages and hamlets of rural Poland made many observers suspicious of the degree of involvement by local peasants, who did in fact benefit from the dislocation of Jewish farmers by taking over their property and possessions.
The investigation described in this new and updated version of this book is hardly a dispassionate or disinterested effort; the author is a Polish patriot who has long denied such accusations, and who turned his considerable investigative efforts toward disproving this claim. What he discovered substantiates his argument that far from being the active participants in the Holocaust others have claimed, many Poles were among the first to raise alarm over the suspicious activities of the Wehrmacht and the Special Forces to begin preparations for what became the "Final Solution" to the so-called `Jewish Question". In fact, Laqueur argues, many Germans, as well as international Jewish organizations, and top government officials in the western democracies first learned of the atrocities being perpetrated on the indigenous Polish Jews from other concerned Poles. What he reveals in doing so paints a devastating picture of apathy, disregard, and callousness on the part of the watching world.
In what has since been described as a conspiracy of silence, much of the so-called civilized world stood by passively as the Holocaust gathered momentum and became a widespread and well organized mechanism for murdering millions of Jews, communists, gypsies, and other malcontents by the Nazi forces of occupation. This murderous campaign was conducted under the veil of a screen of lies, euphemisms, and political evasions, one in which the political expediencies for the western democracies became more important than dealing with the systematic annihilation of millions of human beings. The author's point is well taken. Responsibility for what happened in the death camps must be widely shared, and by a cast that includes not only the Nazi perpetrators but also the relatively disinterested and dispassionate indifference with which the rest of the political world dealt with the evolving situation.
This deals quite passionately with what has become almost a cottage industry in the realm of books dealing with the social, economic, and political background that allowed the holocaust to be possible, to be probable, and then to occur. It is, along with a number of other and much more recent books on the subject, and interesting excursion into a shadowy world in which no hands are left clean of guilt or culpability in this monstrous historical event. It is by no means easy reading, or even pleasant reading, but it is a riveting and convincing look at one of this century's most unbelievable phenomena, the systematic murder of the European Jews. I highly recommend it for World War Two and Holocaust scholars.
Debunks Polonophobic Myths about the Holocaust.......2001-06-01
Walter Laqueur, a French Jew, discusses how the Polish underground and the Polish government in exile reacted to the unfolding extermination of the Jews by the Germans during World War 2. Owing to the fact that Jews had lived in relative tolerance for centuries in Poland, a large fraction of the world's Jews had made Poland their home. It was therefore logical for most of the death camps built and operated by the Germans to be erected in German-occupied Poland. Insinuations are periodically hurled against the Polish underground, accusing it of silence about what the Germans were doing to the Jews. The implication is that Poles did not care about, or even secretly approved of, the extermination of Polish Jews by the Germans. Laqueur debunks all of these Polonophobic myths. He shows in detail that the Polish government promptly relayed information about the mass murder of Jews by Germans to the British government. There was not the slightest hesitancy or delay, on the part of Poles, in revealing this terrible secret to anyone who would listen.

I had to read this book for a history project and it really interested me because of the subject. It was defintely filled with a lot of information about all of the concentration camps and infomation being put out at the time of the holocaust. I thought it was genereally written well, but hard to follow because each of the subjects within the chapters seemed choppy. They were all related but not always transitioned well. Other wise, it was good.

This is a story that I missed when it first came out -- but I went back to it after reading Eichenwald's new book, The Informant. This is fabulous -- full of twists and turns, a real legal thriller. The new book is better, but this one still kept me up late at night.

Enough of the likes of Darr and Harrison. This book jumped out at me and I instantly began to search the credibililty, honesty and background of my own stock broker. Have the financial houses no shame?
