I was shocked to recieve the Code book at least two weeks before I expected it and it was in perfect shape. The service is excellent and I could not be happier with the material.

I liked the fonts used quite a bit, but the story was slow at times. There was almost no charicter development and the plotlines were dated. Still, the surprise ending does what it intends.
Codes are Codes but Your Service is the Best.......2006-07-17
IRC Codes are as the say "standard". It is good to have a single code book for residential building. However, the ability to go to one location, click on what I need when I need it, and have it delivered at a reasonable price where I need it...is the best.
Building Code - 2003.......2006-03-14
Very good reference book for understanding the details of what the building inspector is using for acceptance criteria. Not for the novice, unless you have a good dictionary available. It does leave some of the minute details in the referenced industry standards (National Electric Code, ANSI standards, etc.). Provdes an excellent way to communicate specifics with the general contractor/builder.

Ask yourself why you want your own code book. Do you want instant access to the same information as your city building inspector?
I have a fourth printing (March 2004) and have found dozens of mistakes, items where my code book differs from the one adopted by my state and city, the first printing (January 2003). You would think that given the stated goal of the building code to standardize building practice, that the ICC would either be more careful, or they would put corrections in the public domain. For sure, you shouldn't have to proof the copy and then go looking for corrections. If you want a compendium of all of the known mistakes in all of the ICC code books, you can purchase the bound volume for an additional $13 directly from them. You just have to then figure out which changes go with your edition. It's too bad the ICC doesn't make the corrections edition available at Amazon so that it can be sold "Better Together". My advice? Find out what edition your city uses and get that, it's probably the first printing. If you can't get the same book, wait a couple of years for your city to adopt the next new code (2006?, 2009?) and get a first printing. That way you can borrow your building inspectors' corrections.

Simplified watered down versions of stories from the Eddas. This book seems to be aimed at a late elementary or jr. high school age reader. For that target audience this is a great introduction and would probably be the best thing you could buy if you were trying to picque a young persons interest in the Norse "Myths". If your an adult there are several other books on this subject that I would recomend over this one though.
How to leave a lasting legacy to your grandchildren.......2007-01-29
Buy and read a copy to you grandchildren; They will remember the experience forever. I actually reference back to this book when I do studies on philosophy and religion. There is much more here than meets the eye, and the stories have survived for millenia.
Odin's BEST.......2004-05-06
You will find not only Norse myths in this book, but Teutonic tales as well. The drawings are incredible, as in all children's books. Adults will not be disappointed with this one, and children will be pleased to hear the exciting stories within. A MUST have for Norse mythology book collectors. An oldie but GOODIE! Classic and captivating. What else can I say? . . . I'm buying another one incase I lose my present copy-THAT IS HOW GOOD IT IS! I also reccomend My Viking Book by Ruth Harshaw. Hard to find and quite old, but it is THE best children's book EVER! Don't miss either of them.

If you want details, you're not going to find them here. But here you WILL find connected, flowing storytelling and a sense of BEING there when stuff happens. You won't find drama and excitement here.

This book is different than many mythology texts, it is a good read. The stories are more like stories, and they carry on from one story or chapter to the next. It holds the attention.

A Must for Myth Lovers.......2000-03-26
Any person who loves myths and legends should get this book. It contains wonderful pictures and stories. I've read them over and over. The pictures are one of my favorite things in the book. My younger sister just sits there and looks at them forever. It tells about how the Greeks and Norse believed there was a bunch of different worlds and maps them out for you.

Good Companion Book for More Complete Text.......2007-10-15
In my college survey course of world mythology, I use Davis' "Don't Know Much About World Myths" as a companion book to the excellent "World Mythology: The Illustrated Guide" by Roy Willis. Davis' short book (144 pages) obviously shouldn't substitute for a more comprehensive reading of world myths, but it is very helpful for seeing the big picture. It also correlates well with the topics and myths covered in Willis' book.
