Customer Reviews:
Agree whole-heartedly with "A reader from Berkeley, CA".......2003-09-06
I purchased this book on a whim about a week before our trip with 3 kids to Disneyland and surrounding attractions. This book included not only the obvious necessary tourist information (restaurant, hotel, shuttle service, etc.) but tips on what time of day to ride certain rides to reduce your wait in line and even where to sit on a certain ride to avoid/reduce motion sickness. I really appreciated the summary of the rides in each section of Disneyland that included the length of the ride/attraction. That way, we could "guesstimate" our wait in line by about how many people were in front of us.
I would highly recommend this book to not only people headed to Disneyland but also surrounding attractions (Universal, Knott's, Legoland, and Magic Mountain). It will reduce the stress of planning your trip and make the price of the book well worth it! Have a wonderful time!
Well researched, clearly written, and accurate.......2002-12-27
We just got back from Disneyland, on a spur of the moment trip, and picked up this guidebook in LA the day before. We would say it pretty much prevented a disaster from happening.
The main points were made prominently (e.g., do Fantasyland only in the early a.m. or late p.m. to avoid kid-congestion, run to the Blue Bayou first thing in the a.m. for reservations, do Soarin' Over California first as the best ride in the park, don't sit in the back-row wings of Star Tours if you're easily car-sick, etc.).
I would disagree that the info is dated; if some points are (an inevitable risk for all guidebooks), they're far outweighed by the book's strengths.
We don't have kids, but the kid-comments were extremely helpful nonetheless, as they helped us avoid the screaming masses and tripping over parked strollers. (We love kids, but not wall to wall, all day, and on vacation.)
Specific strengths were 1:- suggested itineraries, by time of day and age (these were accurate and well thought out!) 2:- restaurant reviews, in detail 3:- hotel reviews and map 4:- "Insider's Secrets" and other hints on everything from how to best spin the teacups to where to best sit for the fireworks.
It seemed to us that the reviews were objective, pointing out (gently) the negatives along with the positives. Of the rides, restaurants, and events we did, we can vouch for the accuracy of just about every review! Finally, the writing was plain and direct, making it a quick read (we only had a day) with minimal fluff.
Highly recommended.
Good information but dated.......2002-11-16
The information provided in the book is well presented and thought out, but is dated, particularly in light of the cover title of "2002 - 2003". Also, the link in the book for updated information does not work. The ride ratings are helpful in determining which ones might be too scary for children, but do not give you any sense if the ride might induce motion sickness. Overall, is does give a nice overview of Disneyland and surrounding attractions, and provides nice details of the various rides, but purchasers of this book will need a backup source of more current information.
No Web site Updates As Promised.......2002-02-12
Good book on tips for kids, but ratings of rides is so-so. The biggest disappointment is the book says --- see a certain web site for updates. There aren't any updates at that website, just an advertisement for buying the book. Also, there is too much that is out of date. A disappointment there are no web updates as promised in the book. Otherwise could have been the best book out there, but without current information why buy it?
Helpful Tips But Out Of Date.......2002-02-07
Disneyland & Southern California with Kids, 2002-2003 contains lots of helpful tips and suggestions. It also includes Disney's California Adventure and Downtown Disney. However, I cannot give it more than 3 stars because it just isn't updated for 2002-2003. To many things changed in 2001 (even early 2001) that should have made it to the book but didn't. For example, Rocket Rods are no more but the book makes numerous references to them. Country Bear Jamboree has closed but you would never know it by looking in this book. All through this book I fell as though I'm reading the 2001 version.
On the plus side, the hotel and restaurant guides are very complete (since the prices are only given in relative terms to each other this section isn't really dated) and the ride reviews are thorough. Also, it does include some limited information on other attractions such as Knots Berry and Universal.

Maximum Ride: An Apt Title .......2007-10-14
These books are complete brain candy, full of action, quick wit, smart dialogue, and loveable characters. If you've got a teenager whose mourning the loss of any forthcoming Harry Potter novels, introduce them to Max and her flock. I promise they won't be able to rest until they've turned the final page.
5 Stars - The perspective of a teen.......2007-09-18
While I am 22, I can honestly say that this book is not written for my age. I feel that the bad reviews that it may have gotten are stimulated and struck down by people outside of its targeted age group (Ages 10 to 15). As an adult I do not think I appreciated this book the way a teen would have. To me it was all mediocre reading, but to a teen it would be action packed and slammed with thrills and excitement. I was sold merely by its cover and soon found that I was out of the range for its targeted audience. For those teens that are in that targeted range I think you will love this book. For those parents whom have children that are interested in science-fiction then I recommend this book. For adults themselves I would not recommend this book due to its elementary storyline. For we, as adults, could not truly accept it for its real value.
Quick fun romp.......2007-09-16
As with most of James Patterson's work, this book is not the next contender for the Pulitzer, but it is a quick fun read, expecially for young adults seeking something outside of the Harry Potter urban fantasy vein that has taken over YA lit in the last few years.
These characters are wise beyond their years from living on the lam for so long but they're written so that it's obvious that they're still kids rather than adults in little bodies. In a way, this is Cynthia Voight's Homecoming with an edge.
Not a complete story - INREDIBLY annoying lack of ending.......2007-08-31
OK. I actually FOUND a copy of this book in a vacation house. I started reading and got into the story. And then the freaking book just ENDS without resolving anything. Whoever thought this was a good idea is a PUTZ. Yes, I know there are sequels, but I feel misled and SUPER ANNOYED!
My14 year old loved this book.......2007-08-24
My nephew and sister in law were reading this and reccomended it. My 14 year old loved it and we just ordered the next two books! Thank you James Patterson for sharing your gift with children- Blessings Sandra
Book Description
My Teen Angel draws on the personal tragedy of the author and 12 other bereaved families who have suffered the loss of a teen child. The book addresses specific topics such as normal grief responses, the stages of grief, dealing with the holidays, sibling survivors, on-line grief resources and remembrance tokens and rituals.
It is a piognant book about how quickly our lives can change; the difficulties we have keeping up with the change, and how we can learn to live again.
Book Description
Tia can do this.
She should say good-bye to Angel, the love of her life.
She should say, "See ya later! Have fun at college. Don't forget me!"
But it would be so much easier to say, "Stay."
And maybe he would. Maybe he'd give up everything for her....
But is that what she really wants?

Angel loses his money at the track.......2005-03-28
Angel loses the money at the track by betting on horses, and his father fires him from Desmond's Auto. He doesn't know if he wants to go to Stanford University or not. He works at the Riot[a club where El Carro kids hang out, since Miller's Point,The Dairi Burger,Beach Disco, ect] most of the Sweet Valley High school kids hangouts have been destroyed in the earthquake. Melissa comes home from the hospital after attempting suicide.
good book but not really my type.......2003-09-10
i think that this book wasn't really my type of book .. although it was interesting and many ironic turns here and there .. i think that the problems they talk about in this book will be problems i will face when i'm older .. for example .. dating issues .. i think i'll use this book has a real resource when i'm in high school or something. but this book is really interesting and unique in many ways .. and i would recommend it to someone in a older grade like students that are in their highschool years.
Book #10 in SVH Senior Year Series.......2002-09-20
After losing his college savings at the tracks, Angel Desmond is startled with yet another blow in "Broken Angel" when his father fires him from the family's car shop after finding out about Angel's financial mishap. (What is wrong with that guy's father?) Now Angel isn't even sure he can go to Stanford, no matter how hard he works at his other job at the Riot.
Meanwhile, Jeremy Aames breaks up with Jessica Wakefield, thinking it best for them to spend some time apart, especially after he caught Jess on what looked like a date with Will Simmons in the previous book, "The One That Got Away". It's now left up to Jessica to figure out who she wants to be with--Jeremy or Will. And it doesn't look like it'll be an easy decision for her either, especially after reading her "Jeremy vs. Will" comparison list on page 60 and 61--and especially after what happens in the last few pages of this book during the cheerleader-football team "kidnapping".
And speaking of writing samples, there are two humorous bits in "Broken Angel": 1) on page 122, the morning announcement Maria Slater has to read to the school about showing school spirit the "responsible and mature" way, and 2) on page 133-6, Andy Marsden's slacker essay for the Oracle on school spirit. There are additional notes and journal entries (which is standard in every SVH Senior Year book), including some e-mails passed between Maria and Ken, who, surprisingly, have not yet gotten together, if they ever will. But at least Ken's still determined to get back on the football team, the one thing (besides the memory of his dead girlfriend) that brings him a great deal of happiness.
Interesting, FUnny, Realistic, Romantic!.......2001-07-30
This book is reall great! The whole Angel thing is so realistic, and the way he's pressured with the money situation is so well- written it makes you wonder what you'd do in his shoes. Tia is also worried that she's become part of the problem. Jessica loves both Will and Jeremy. Even though Will ruined her life, she still has a thing for him. I am a fan of both Will and Jeremy, but I cracked up when I read the part where Jeremy wrote a letter to, you know, and ended it off with "If you need someone else to pick on, there's this guy Will Simmons...", I fell over laughing! I love both Jeremy and Will, but it was mad funny! Anyway, this book is great! Jess falls for Will, but is nervous to admit it cause she's afraid she's betrayign Jeremy. Liz is all depressed about Conner. COnner is having problems with his mother, who's suddenly acting strange. The whole Will/Jessica/Jeremy love triangle is well written. The Angel situation with his money and Tia is well written. ALso, the funny thing Jeremy wrote is well written. This book is great!
Best book keep on reading.......1999-12-06
this was a really great senior year. I think that is was worth every penny. It is about Tia and Angel and how he lost all his money, at the race track and about his decision to stay or to go away to college. It makes you never want to stop reading it and it is very suspensful with Jessica and Jermey and all there problems going on. it is very good and i recomend it a lot.

the best book ever.......2004-04-26
this book really is tha best eva it shows real situations and helps you understand how things r and that if somethin happens to someone u know n love that doesn't mean it's tha end of tha world
Where's the rest of the series?.......2000-06-18
Hey~I read this series in 7th grade, I will now be going into 11th, and I haven't found a new book in the series! Help! I love Cherie Bennet because she tells the truth. Her newspaper column for teens used to be in my local paper, but halfway through the year they discontinued it. I was mad because I liked how she made her point, blunt and to the point. I really wish if anyone had any news on if the series ended or if there are more books that you could tell me. Thanks.
It is a grate book to keep a girl from comiting suicide........1999-03-31
I loved the book Love Without End.It is probably the best book I have ever read.I think it reminds parents that when someone dies that you should pay alot of atention to the kid whose brother or sister died because if you don't then they could start hanging around with the wrong people and might comit suicide.
A very sweet book!.......1997-06-01
I loved this book! Nicole learned a lesson on not getting caught up in other things while down on a mission. And Shelby was so sweet, I knew the reason she acted so tough was because she was hurting inside. The end was so touching. I would reccomend this book to everyone
Customer Reviews:
Good story but............1999-01-19
This was a good story, but the facts were all wrong. The Bible specifically states that angels are messengers of God, not the souls of dead good people gone to Heaven. And there is no waiting period, when we die we will either see God face to face or...well let's just say I'd rather see God. And it's the same the other way, demons are angels that chose to go with Satan eons ago, not the dead souls of evil people. Another thing, Paradise is not described in the Bible as being levels. You don't go to a school before entering "adult heaven"; you either go to heaven or not. But I have to admit, the story was good, I just hope this doesn't get people thinking that they'll go to Heaven even if they don't believe in Christ as their Savoir.
Out of this world!!!.......1998-07-20
That was one of the best books I've ever read. I couldn't put it down. Don't start this book unless you have time to finish it. The book was about three teenangers that died before they're time. So now they need to return to earth to help people that are throwing they're live away. You won't regert reading this book!
Fantastic!.......1998-01-30
I really liked this excellent book. It was written fabulously and is very interesting. After reading the book you'll learn some things about life and what happens when your wasting it.
It is totaly incredible.Splendiferous writing skill........1998-01-07
This book is like a magnet to your eyes. This author has tuned up the books. When Cisco is in a wreck she is taken up to Teen Heaven. Transportation there is free; no need to worry. There in Teen Heaven Cisco gets a credit card and gets assigned missions and gets to meet cute guys. Don't let Cody or Satan get in your way. And of course you'll never guess who the boss is! Stay tuned in the best book on Earth for the time of your life. You think you have read your favorite book? Well make room on 1st place for this one, because no way are you going to find a better book girls!!!!(

Great,meaningful book.......1997-08-18
This is a very, excellently written book,(I congratulate
the author on such fantastic, writing skills!).
This definately a page turner, I read this book in
one afternoon, i couldn't put it down! This book teaches you
that there is a purpose for everything, although, sometimes
it takes awhile to figure that purpose out. This
also teaches you that there is good in every,
decision , and that childhood is precious.
This book tells you that you should not try to
destroy your body, but rather to use it for good
cause. In conclusion this book contains many
lessons, which cost some people their lives
or which takes, much of the population to
learn, at the later-part of their Earth-lives.
I recommend this to all generations, and many
kinds of people,(especially those who believe
in angels!).

Wonderful short stories for class sharing.......1999-08-06
These stories are great to read aloud to a class of adolescents. The author was once a teacher, it states--I can tell. They are great springboards for thoughts, comments, and essay topics.
