Customer Reviews:
Dr. Mancini's books are great!.......2006-06-02
Marc Mancini, Phd, is the travel industry's most well-known industry educator and speaker.
As a travel school student (and later as an Instructor at the same school) I watched his many travel education videos and read many of his textbooks. He clearly presents topics vital to the travel industry and explains in depth subjects which should be required reading for all professionals in the industry.
Now, even with over 13 years working in various segments of the highly diverse travel and tourism field, I find reading Dr. Mancini's books and viewing his entertaining and informative videos enhances my everyday performance.
I highly recommend Dr. Mancini's materials to all currently employed in the travel industry and those considering a career change!!!
The best book on the market for this subject!.......2006-04-24
Mancini covers this popular career position thoroughly. Since it has always been a dream of mine to become a tour conductor, I found this book to explain exactly how to become one and how to do the job well.
Useful for novice Tour Managers.......2004-11-04
In this handbook you will find nothing about presentation and interpretation skills of contemporary tourist guides. The book is focused on some strictly practical (technical) aspects of the tour guide's job. It can be useful, however, for all novice tour managers - especially for those who enter the profession without previous training and who won't be working as local or on-site guides. This will be a good start for them to learn generally about the tour industry, tourism market, tourism suppliers, types of tours, etc. The book promotes a self-teaching way of acquiring the professional knowledge; each chapter is followed by an 'Activity' page with relevant questions and tasks, so you can check out what you have learned. The only part of the book which might be interesting for more experienced guides is about client and escort psychology, but there are only 12 pages dedicated to that topic. In sum, I have expected much more from this book.
Excellent for budding Tour leaders.......2000-06-22
This book was truly practical for both the established tourleader or anyone wanting to begin in the industry. There areinvaluable points that help you to establish relationships with your clients and tips to improve your confidence skills. There also also excercise that help you work your way through each chapter. Great, easy reading.
everything you ever wanted to know about being a tour guide.......2000-04-20
I recently took a college level course in a hospitality and tourism curriculum and this was the text used for the class. I was skeptical as to what a book could teach you about being an effective tour guide. During the class I had the opportunity to lead a group to London for a 9 day tour. I was amazed at the many tips the book gave that were helpful. He discusses the psychological aspects of "herding instincts" and how people can revert to childish behavior when they submit all decision making for a week or two to a tour guide. It includes tips on how to set up a tour package and how to get the best deals from hotels and airlines. He also discusses the different types of guide jobs including positive and negatives aspects of each. Very Helpful book!

Barron's police officer exam booklet.......2007-09-06
Since buying this book I have taken 2 test for law enforcement/security postitions. Before the test I was able to read about 60 percent of the book and take a few of the practice test. I certainly felt more prepared having the book even though I only passed one test with flying colors.
From my own personal experience I did not recieve any memory questions, which I had practiced for using this book. I also found that there were a decent amount of spelling and grammar questions, and this book doesn't seem to have any grammar practice questions.
Recently I just purchased Barron's Correction officer exam practice booklet. While the book and questions are very similar, the correctional book will help with your grammar.
If your new to these test or if you want to brush up on the basics, then purchase one of Barron's booklets. I passed a test for one of best police force in the country and I owe some credit to this book.
Police Exam Book.......2007-05-09
This book has helped me with what to expect on the police exam. If I didn't purchase it, then I would have no assitance on being prepared for the exam.
Very Good.......2007-04-11
This book has very good information for those who wants to take the Criminal Justice Basic Ability test.
Item not received.......2007-01-09
This item was purchased on October 18, and was not received. My money was refunded.
Excellant.......2004-09-01
I wanted to prepare as much as possible when it comes to becoming a cop. I had got this book because I wanted to learn more and know what I would be getting in an exam. When I flipped through this manual I was in total shock. I have never seen or read so much detailed information in my life. You can't go wrong with this book.
They help you understand police forms, legal definitions, preparation for oral exams, writing reports, how to take tests, police procedures and so on. This book isn't just about the exams. This book actually briefs you on becoming a cop and some of the things that you're gona come across or have to face. I got way more than I paid for.
This book is pretty cheap for so much information.
Product Description
Schroeder and Lombardo have aptly applied their knowledge and expertise stemming from years of service on the force combined with years of teaching and consulting experience to create a timely and useful manual for law enforcement management and supervision. The many roles of the manager and supervisor are clearly defined and discussed at length, providing the reader with an apparent understanding about the satisfaction as well as the difficulty connected with successful leadership. Each chapter focuses on a specific function of the manager-supervisor; it is then broken down into the basic elements to which a successful law enforcement manager and supervisor must respond on a daily basis. This publication is a must not only for anyone studying for promotion in law enforcement, but also for current managers-supervisors who would like to improve their on-the-job performance. Topics include principles associated with a police supervisor's or manager's role as a leader, planner, communicator, performance evaluator, trainer, disciplinarian, and human relations specialist. And chapter 3 on The Managerial Function of Planning has been fully updated for the 4th edition. Additionally, the manager-supervisor will learn techniques pertaining to problem solving, field operations, and multicultural issues. Following each chapter is a short section to Test Your Understanding.

Customer Reviews:
I smoked the Sergeants test thanks to this book!!!!!.......2007-05-22
I bought this book about two months prior to taking the Sergeants test and read it cover to cover. It is very well written and easy to read. There is a test at the beginning of the book that helps you identify your weak areas so you can concentrate on them. Each section has a test after it to help drive home all the points. Not only did this book help me with the written, but the information inside also helped me prepare for the oral exam.
I ended up ranking #1 in the testing process!!!! If your department uses the state written exam for Sergeant then this book is a MUST! WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD!!!

Book Description
When the Lombardos arrive, Justine secretly hopes her new neighbor and classmate, Heather, will be a slightly off-center movie lover like herself. As it turns out, its Heathers younger brother, Mike, who shares Justines enthusiasm for film, as well as some of her daydreamers moodiness. Fast friends, Mike and Justine begin to make a movie together, but Justine soon has feelings she doesnt care to admit to anyone . . . especially herself. Is she falling for an eighth-grader? Do two lousy years and three inches really make a difference anyway? Lombardos Law is a witty love story of two precocious teenagers who have the courage to think for themselves at a time when its easier not to and when it seems no one older believes that you can.

Great for Everyone.......2006-04-12
Lombardo's Law is a superb look at relationships, especially when they are dealing with friends morphing into more and/or an age gap. In this case, it's both. Justine is two years older than her new neighbor Mike, but that doesn't mean that they have nothing in common. On the contrary, they soon become fast friends, working on a spoof of "2001: A Space Odessey". While society seems to have acknowledged older guys and younger girls to be an acceptable coupling, the world has yet to recognize older girls and younger guys as acceptable. Wittlinger artfully crafts a novel that addresses this issue while also creating an enjoyable and engaging story, no matter what your age.
A rEaLlY CuTe sTOrY.......2005-09-11
Another fabulous story by Ellen Wittlinger. Justine is a loner, and she prefers to be alone to read, write, and do what she loves most and that is see movies. And when her family moves to a new city Justine's mother wants her to make friends, hopefully with the girl who's family moves in next door. But that doesn't happen. First of all, the girl next door, Heather, is drop dead gorgeous, secondly she is popular which leads to the third problem, Heather ignores Justine. That doesn't sound like to good of friend material. So instead of making friend with Heather, Justine makes friend with Mike who is Heathers little brother by 2 years. Mike and Justine have many things in common and he is very fun to be with. But Justine is starting to fell things for Mike, she starts to become attracted to him and she starts asking herself this question, " Is two years all that much difference?" Very good book, if you loved Ellen Wittilinger's other books you are sure to enjoy this one.
This is a good book.......2003-02-05
I thought this book was very good. It is mainly about a girl social life wasn't very good for about a year until neighbors move in across the road where the girl named Justine met a boy in 8th grade named Mike and a girl in her grade of 9th named Heather. Justine and Heather don't really get along at all but Heather's little brother Mike and Justine get along like a couple. As the book goes on the story get more weird. As the story went on Mike and Justine start to make a movie about a girl and talking computer. When Mike and Justine are making the movie they start to get in like a relationship. Well that is all i can say about the book to not give the rest away.
Lombardo's Law.......2002-08-06
Justine Trainor has no idea in the beginning that Mike will be her friend instead of his dip sister, Heather. Mike acts like a good friend and in the end, Justine finds out what a great friend he really is. The story is cute and funny at the same time. I would like a sequel to this book.
Great Book.......2000-08-28
I love this book i read it when i was in grade 7. Justine is a 15 year old girl who just wants to be a "normal" teenager she meets Heather and her annoying brother Mike. she starts hanging around Heather and loves the attention she gets hanging around Heather. she finds out Heather is just a snoty teenager and likes to hang out with Mike more they have a lot in common and have fun together.they soon find out they are attracted to each other.its a story about how age does not matter and to look at the person from the inside and not care what others might say.....i think every girl should read it to find out how love could be....
