Great and Essential Book for students of French Language.......2007-08-03
I had the previous edition of this book and thought it was great. This edition is even better. The most important verbs are in the book and a new feature where key verbs are highlighted makes it even better. Offering a CD provides easier portability as you travel.
Fantastic Investment.......2007-03-09
Other than a good French/English dictionary (I strongly recommend Langenscheidt's Pocket French Dictionary), this is far and away the best investment I have made in my French education. Verbes are one of the most common stumbling blocks for English speaking students of French. This book is user friendly and incredily informative, just make sure you take the time to read over the introduction and familiarize yourself with the various resources it contains.

501 Proves Its Worth.......2007-08-17
This was my first purchase in the 501 series. It will definitely not be my last. If this volume is any indication of the scrupulous yet extremely accessible nature of the Kendris' work, then this series is a must for any foreign language student or lover.
Invaluable reference work.......2007-08-05
An invaluable reference work for professionals or students. Serious students should read and review this text. Experienced French speakers will find it useful for those odd, little encountered forms.
501 french verbs.......2007-01-09

Recommended With CDs to Become Fluent.......2007-01-08
Mere words cannot express how pleased I am with my copy of 501 French Verbs. Very user friendly. Well organized. A gem.
I am currently working between learning Spanish and French.
Between the two,I feel that French is the more difficult language.
Now, how to speak the language. The accent, sentence formation, idioms?
For all the beauty of this reference book, no one comes even close to equaling Behind the Wheel French for teaching you how to put all these verbs together and actually speak the language like the natives.
If you're just trying to get through a college French course requirement or never plan on really speaking the language, then 501 French Verbs is perfectly fine all by its sweet self.
However, if you do want to do more than read French literature and plan on hitting the streets in France someday, then by all means, combine this fabulous book with Behind the Wheel French CDs. They also have a revised version for the same price that comes with a terrific book that is very instructional and easy to use.
(same price) with answers right on the same page, English translations, the whole nine yards. Makes it very easy to learn French.
My Bible.......2007-01-07
This book is my french bible. I use it everyday, especially for my AP French class. It is something I couldn't do without.

Book Description
What is magic really for?
As Maggie approaches her thirteenth birthday, she wants to believe that some kind of magic can stop the changes all around her. Her visit with her father and his new family at a lakeside cabin makes her wonder. Will he still love her as much, now that he has a new family, or will he love her baby half-sister more? Her father seems troubled and withdrawn and, while he insists nothing is wrong, she worries.
Alone with her own secret thoughts, Maggie finds comfort in the beautiful blue heron she visits at the lake every morning. With each visit, she grows more attached to the bird, and she becomes aware that someone else is watching, too -- someone who's putting the bird in great danger. Through her determination to protect the bird, Maggie begins to understand the magic of change in her own life, and in the constantly changing world around her.

My son despised this book!.......2005-08-05
My 12-year-old son had to read this book for a 7th grade assignment, and he and the 5 other 7th grade boys he spoke to about it found it pointless. He says the author carries on and on and is repetitive in scene taking place in the marsh. He thinks this book cannot be enjoyed by boys, and advises that boys should not bother reading it or they will fall asleep.
Is it magical?.......2003-10-29
Blue Heron is an astonishing story about how magic can really come to life. In this story, Maggie who is thirteen, is sent from her home in Seattle, Wa. to visit her father, stepmother, and newborn sister. She visits her father's New England lakeside cabin, and she visits a blue heron who she thinks can tell life from death. In the book,, Maggie overcomes problems with her father, and convinces her enemy Tucker, not to fire his gun. This is a heartwarming story that everyone would love.

Is It Magical?.......2003-10-29
Blue Heron is an astonishing story about how magic can really tcome to life! In this story Maggie (almost thirteen) is sent from her home in Seattle, Washington (who she lives with her mother) to see her father, stepmother and, new-born baby sister. She is sent to New England on her fathers lakeside log cabin. Maggie becomes attached to a Blue Heron who she thinks can tell life from death. As Maggie over comes the problems with her father ( just fired and will not take heart medication) and convincing her enemy Tucker not to fire his gun, this is a heart-warming story that everybody would love!!
Avi has done it again!.......2003-02-02
This book was honestly one of the best books that I have ever read. Avi is great at coming up with interesting and diverse families. I could not believe how Avi could come up with caring and emotional Maggie, her raging father, Karen, Maggie`s responsible and loving step mother, and little Linda, who was caught up in the midst of all the fighting and emotion. From this book, you learned all about Maggie, the pressure that was put on her and her family and also the omen, the graceful heron. The question that you are left with at the end of the book is, does the Heron mean life or death? That`s why I liked this book, you must decide.

Buy it for the photography--you'll learn something, too........2002-10-25
I bought this book as a gift for a friend who is an avid birdwatcher. Before I wrapped it, I glanced quickly through it and took a look at the BEAUTIFUL photographs of the great blue heron. However, as I read various lines describing the pictures, I began to look around for the associated text. Eventually, I just gave up and read through the entire book. Not being an ornithologist, I came to appreciate the true beauty and actual wonder of the great blue heron. Some of the details were specifically for ornithologist, e.g., the various stances and neck movements, but I enjoyed it and learned a lot as a layman.
The Great Blue Heron.......2000-10-09
An avid great blue heron researcher, this book by Hayward Allen captivates my undivided attention with each reading.
For three years now I've been mesmerized by this marshland creature. The elegant poise with which it carries itself. The superior "beat-the-bushes", stalking techniques have provided endless hours for relaxation within the confines of our great natural wetland areas.
The tedious research accompanied by the most fabulous photographs has made it #1 in my bird library. I've been privy to many of the same descriptive activites and marvel that for an amateur such as myself, I've experienced firsthand truly one of the greatest marvels of nature.
For 3 years I have followed their migratory routes throughout Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Michigan. My life shall never be the same. Thanks so much for this wealth of information about my all-time-favorite marshland creature!!!!
Sincerely,
heroness48@yahoo.com

Definitive resource on a crucial environmental icon.......2001-10-04
Ecobeetle has concerns for all species and habitats and the great blue heron is a favorite animal. Beautiful and majestic in flight the Heron is the sentinel of the shoreline and wetlands. Throughout British Columbia this species is under threat through loss of habitat and nesting sites due to encroaching development. The appearance of a thriving heron population is a measurement of a healthy ecosystem. Unfortunately as Robert Butler describes and summarizies in his book 'The Great Blue Heron' that the status of the heron and it's recent struggles with the rapid development of BC's Fraser Valley is a foreshadowing and environmental warning concerning the health of all west coast animal and marine life. Conservation and protection of this magnificent bird is of paramount importance for the Great Blue Heron is a west coast icon, a symbol of our health as an enviroment. Ecobeetle highly recommends this book to anyone with a concern for species at risk or an interest in natural history.

Hits the Mark.......2006-10-08
I highly recommend this book. If you are someone with a learning disability or just know (young or old) someone with an LD it is one of the best books you could purchase. It is very insightful and I was able to lock-in on many of the items discussed by Harry. Since I have a processing LD, this book, in particular, proved invaluable. I have learned so much about my own LD just from reading it and I know that it could prove just as beneficial to others. To go along with this book I also recommend Samantha Abeels book "My Thirteenth Winter: A Memoir.
A Personal Perspective of Learning Disabilities.......2005-05-17
Harry Sylvester has taken a subject that professionals have completed years of education to comprehend and puts it into a personal narrative about real people, including himself.
It's one thing to overcome or learn to live with a learning disability as a child. Discovering you have a learning disability as an adult is like solving a puzzle you've been assembling for decades.
As a professional working with adults who live various physical and mental challenges, I now have a new resource for understanding so that I may better serve my clients.
Harry takes us into his world of pain, struggle and self-discovery from his early school days to middle adulthood.
If we can take our own experience and turn it into solutions for others, we have doubled our self-discovery. Harry has done that. This is a book that will be used as a text of learning for years to come.
A life with unexpected obstacles and triumphs.......2003-12-13
Professionally narrated by Dale Hill, Legacy Of The Blue Heron: Living With Learning Disabilities by Harry Sylvester is an audiobook presentation of his personal life experience of overcoming serious learning disability challenges in an ultimately successful pursuit of success as a mechanical engineer, business owner, and even boat-builder. Written by a dyslexic who became a president of the Learning Disabilities Association of America, Legacy Of The Blue Heron offers personal insight into a life with unexpected obstacles and triumphs. A welcome addition to any community library audiobook collection, Legacy Of The Blue Heron is especially recommended for anyone having to deal with a learning disability within themselves or within their family.
Educational Must Have!.......2003-04-26
Harry Sylvester's struggle with learning disabilities is written in easy to understand and hard to forget language. The Legacy of the Blue Heron chronicles Harry's devastating educational experiences, his diagnosis of a learning disability and the incredible work he has done from that pivotal moment. Best of all Harry offers hope for anyone facing these difficulties. Harry also provides many solutions from someone who's been there and understands. Harry's work as an advocate for others has changed many lives for the better. Harry's story is an inspiration, one that must be shared. If you know of anyone with a learning disability or are planning on working or marrying anyone with a learning disability or just want a fantastic read this is the book.
Very real, very readable, very necessary.......2002-11-17
This book provides a very realistic and easily read view of the school experience through the eyes of someone who was intelligent yet did not truly fit in the school model he endured. Harry certainly has proven his level of capabilities through his attainment of a college degree in engineering, state level advocacy and efforts leading to being elected as the President of the internationally known Learning Disabilities Association of America.
Harry's tender touch throughout the self exploration process makes the reader feel the emotions through his determination to find answers for himself. He then turns that new found energy into advocacy efforts for individuals with learning disabilities. His methods include reaching out to persons with substance abuse problems, juvenile offenders, and individuals struggling with underachievement.
One of his most important contributions through this book is the impact he has on future teachers and practicing educators. This book is not a textbook format but a humanistic challenge to rethink educational planning and support of students who learn differently. Harry challenges us to look at the social cost of failing to make changes.
Over 1/3 of the book is dedicated to solutions...solutions that are for persons like Harry who have the strength to look at their struggles but also for the wider audience of anyone who cares about education and empowering students to recognize their intelligence. Look around you and you will find someone who needs to feel supported by Harry's message. While you are at it, is there an educator you know that needs to hear this message?

the blue heron.......2006-11-30
In the blue heron there is a girl goes to her dads house for a wile. When she is at her father's house she finds this bird that is magical and she wont tell her father that there is a bird in the pond next to the house. She thinks if she tells her father that there is a bird out side she thinks that the bird will disopear. One day she went out side to find the bird and she couldn't find the bird so she took the canoe that they had and searched for the bird, then further out she saw a blue thing in a tree and she went over to it and she found arrows and a bow. So she thought that the person that was there had killed it. Later on she had found the bird and it was not dead. Also she had found the person that had brought all that equipment she had found. At first when I was reading the book it was good but later on it wasn't that interesting and that is why I had to abandon the book. I think it would be better if it were more descriptive and happier.
