Indispensible!.......2002-04-18
This book was a great guide to shopping London. I wasn't looking for a bargain shopping guide and this certainly isn't that. But if you are, this book may not be for you. Suzy has expensive tastes (like me). I really needed to have some idea where all the interesting boutiques and shopping areas were and this book was exactly what I needed.

Born to Shop--London.......2000-05-18
London was our 5th trip with Suzy: as usual she directed us to all the right places and with her usual wit and flair, to boot. You know you have a great source when the husband of the group (who has to carry everything) says that the only guide book for the day will be by Suzy.
Suzy Gershman captures the London shopping scene in one book.......1999-08-09
The book has been and continues to be an excellent resource for shopping needs. London can be overwhelming -- after all it is the city of shopkeepers -- but following the recommendations in the book have proven successful everytime. I have sent a copy to each of my guests planning to visit London and all have been able to highlight areas of shopping to save time and get what they want. The helpful tips, shortcuts and general information about the markets is fabulous. If planning a trip to London and shopping is on your list of things to do -- don't be caught without the ulitimate shopping guide.
Don't leave home without it!.......1999-02-23
This book alone is worth a ticket to London. Whether you're a power shopper or just want to pick up a few souvenirs, Suzy Gershman has insider secrets for the perfect item at the perfect shop. And she's great fun to read (even if you're not ready to plan a trip yet.) I've used her books in 3 countries, and she's never steered me wrong. In this edition: don't miss Jo Malone, Lush, and tea at Stafford's.

Hey, Guys Like Shopping Too!.......2006-05-28
We don't all just go along to pay the bills! I bought this book in hopes of getting some good advice re: bespoke suits, tailored shirts and regimental ties; maps and military and nautical memorabilia; sporting goods and events; and other masculine items for which London is noted, but was greatly disappointed to find nothing here that couldn't be gleaned from a good read of London's Yellow Pages, which must certainly be a better read given the author's aggravatingly trite tone. Add to that her irrepressibly silly opinions, with which she is all too generous, and within an hour of arrival this one was repacked for return.
Shopping Paradise.......2002-03-16
I think Suzy is divine. She is the first person to take such an awesome city and try to condense it for the average person. I have traveled here several times and took her advice. The Ritz room for the single traveler was divine and Tea at the Ritz is a must for the royal watcher & don't forget to look up at the gorgeous surroundings which are so famous. Hop the buses and the tube and scoot everywhere - it is a breeze. My daughter was a student there and introduced me to this very inexpensive way to see such a large city. Enjoy!! I buy all of her books and just returned from Asia-a shopper's paradise.
Perfect for the Shopping Addict.......2000-07-28
I bought and used this book on a recent trip to London, and I can recommend it to people who love to shop and who will spending more than just a few days in London. The book covers the entire spectrum of shopping, from street markets to high-end designers. Much of the book is just Suzy's opinion, but I guess any book of this nature would have to be, in large part, the opinion of the author. But try to get past her likes and dislikes and read the facts presented. I was especially happy with the insights presented on British drugstores and the great products they carry. Without this book, I would have missed some of the best stuff I found in London, the house lines of the drugstores! On the negative side, I felt that her hotel recommendations were a little unrealistic for the average traveler. I also didn't quite understand her advice for using the public transportation system. Still, a very useful little book.

SUZY HAS STOOD THE TEST OF TIME..............2007-09-28
I have been traveling with Suzy (well...with her wonderful books) for 20 years and she has never failed me. This is a fast paced world & prices change by the day so go easy on her. The overall picture is you must get ALL of her books because she will tell you where to travel when other locations are out of sight on $$$. As a money manager my advice is to go now, because with the problems of our credit crunch (won't go away anytime soon)travel is dirt cheap now. I shop online globally constantly but nothing replaces the sights, smells, & the local personalities. Enjoy your travels with Suzy-she is the best out there. I am waiting for the Shopping The World due out in March 2008.
good for guidelines.......2006-11-07
like all travel guides, the pricing is always suspect between the writing and publication time. where this guide is good is that it gives off the beaten path as well as the more 'touristy' stops: good for the first time london visitor as well as the person returning for the umpteenth time. like with anything else, know your prices before you go. **credit card companies do not charge the overseas fee - that is often seen on the atm side!*****
Math 101.......2006-08-19
I only read online the first few pages, as Suzy's reviews have been a bit off the past few years. I was suspicious to read on page three in her quick shop section that I should pop into Jo Malone as the prices are half what they are at home.
I am a Jo Malone devotee. The whole line. So, I went to Jo's two web sites, UK and USA and to Neiman's, and did a cost comparison. Suzy is partially correct, the prices are half of the USA in London, until you do the currancy conversion!
Here are a few: Body lotion: 38.00 GBP in Jo Maolone London. That converts to $71.40, the body lotions sells for $60.00.
100 ml's of any cologne: 59.00 GBP, that converts to $111.00, it sells for $90.00. Body creme: 44.00 GBP equals $82.00 it retails for $75.00.
This is an exchange rate for August, but the pound has been high for ages, and a few cents/pence either direction isn't going to make it or break it. I also didn't include sales tax in the USA or potential VAT return if you bought enough to qualify in the UK or the 3% that most credit cards charge for foreign transactions.
My point is, suzy cannot be relied on to give accurate well thought out advice, this is your hard earned money, and she hasn't done her research. Shame on her.

In Lurelene McDaniel's Dawn Rochelle's four novels it is a heart wrenching book. As you are reading you want to keep reading more and more and you do not want to let your book down. This book is filled with life lessons to be learned. The book is about Dawn Rochelle who has found out that she has cancer. Now, only does she have to face death in the face, but also has to learn how to adjust to the outside world after recovering. She has to learn how to deal with death and losing the people she holds dearest. After she recovers she feels as though she is an pariah. Everyone treats her differently just because she has the disease. She has a different point of view on life now. She can see what truly matters in life over just the teenage things. This is a very easy book to read not overly pedantic

Book Description
Dawn Rochelle is fifteen, and the leukemia she's been fighting for the past two years is in remission again, after a successful bone marrow transplant from her brother. This summer Dawn has agreed to work as a camp counselor for younger kids with cancer. It's the same camp that she attended with her best friend, Sandy, just before Sandy died. Dawn knows that the kids need her, but being at the camp brings back painful memories. Since Dawn has so much to live for now, wouldn't it be better to just forget about everything connected with cancer?

Dawn Rochelle Novels.......2007-09-23
I love the Dawn Rochelle novels. I love how the author goes into good detail.
A story of an unforgetable, terrible Past.......2007-02-17
"Are you scared?" Dawn Rochelle's brother Rob asked her as he drove down the road. Even though Dawn had been fighting cancer for the past 2 years, the question wasn't pointed at that. He was actually asking her if she was scared about being a CIT (counselor in training) for the cancer camp she used to go to. Dawn answered no, but deep down at the bottom of her heart she was. As said before, Dawn had been to that camp before, but she wasn't alone. If you have read the other two books before this one in the series, you would know that she had and lost a friend to cancer who's name was Sandy.
The biggest thing Dawn wanted to be was normal and forget the past. This dream becomes harder and harder to accomplish. She meets a fellow CIT and finds out that he was the older brother of Sandy. They start having feelings for each other, but Dawn doesn't trust them. Her brain and her heart are conflicting on whether their feelings are true or if it's just the connection to Sandy. Dawn doesn't know if she can handle it all.
Meanwhile, cancer is lurking in their depths waiting for the right time for a comeback. Is Dawn the one it's aiming for? If not, who? Does this mean Dawn will never get a handle on a normal life? Don't let these questions or the knowledge of it being the third book in a series torment you! You don't really need to read the first two books anyway! Although if you're the kind of person who likes to know all of the background information and likes to understand things without having to figure the smallest thing out, then I suggest you do read the first two books. Also, don't forget to pick up the book So Much to Live For by Lurlene McDaniel and read with excitement.
So Much to Live for.......2006-04-28
Dawn Rochelle is this girl who has cancer. Dawn goes to camp and meets a girl named Marlee. This girl didn't like being at the camp. Dawn wanted to make sure she had a great time. Dawn gets to be good friends with Marlee actually her only friend. Dawn then gets a call that Marlee was in the hospital. Marlee didn't know anything that was happening the doctors wouldn't tell her anything. Dawn gets to know Marlee's grandma, like a lot. Marlee then gets really sick and later dies in the hospital. Dawn went to her funeral and couldn't even stay at the funeral because it was too sad. Dawn stays with her grandma and goes to her house a lot. They become very good friends.
Too Maudlin.......2006-01-10
I don't know if it's the way Lurlene McDaniel writes or not but it's really difficult to read the Dawn Rochelle series. The plot is great but as soon as you get interested in seeing what the charactors have to say the word cancer pops up. There must be at least thirty times the word was used in the first couple chapters alone. Nobody with a longterm disease talks about it every five minutes unless they were newly diagnosed and need to get used to having it. Dawn had it and is in remisson when this book starts so the author should really have given the word a rest unless it actually carried the plot along. With the counselers talking to each other and the word doing absolutely nothing to speed the plot along the whole book is laughable.
Dramatic but GOOD.......2005-04-21
Dawn is a cancer survivor. She has survived cancer twice. Ever since she was 13 she hasn't been an ordinary girl. When Dawn goes back to camp, her and her since dead friend Sandy went to she is a counselor. Then she meets someone unsispected. She doesn't even suspect him being there. It's not Greg. It's not Mike. But someone she has heard alot about. She never thought she'd see him here. You couldn't possibly guess who this is unless you read this book yourself. She is a very talented young girl. She is brave and daring. Then she meets Marlee. The young girl with a bad attitude and a great heart. Dawn thinks she is going to be trouble but thats what she thought. She soon finds out that Marlee isn't just a hardcore girl but a nice little angel that lives with her grandma.
If you were to want to read this book I would highly recomend this book to you. This book isn't just about Dawn with cancer but Dawn playing the hand she was dealt from God. Her life has been changed ever since that first dignosis. But in some parts you will see that it is not only dramatic but also funny.

Sadly, girls are now drinking as much--or more--than boys. While "partying" can mean just hangin' with your crew, it often means drinking.
